Not every incident in Iran 'necessarily has something to do with us,' Israeli defense chief says after fire at Natanz nuclear site

 

Israel's defense minister has rebuffed speculation that Tel Aviv was behind the recent incident at an Iranian nuclear site. He reiterated, however, that Tehran's nuclear program is a threat to his country.

 

Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that he was "not sure" whether Iranians always follow safety protocols on their strategic sites.

 

Everyone can be suspicious of us all the time. But not every incident that happens in Iran necessarily has something to do with us.

 

Gantz reiterated, however, that "a nuclear Iran" is a threat to Israel. "We will do everything possible to prevent Iran from spreading terror and weapons, but I do not refer to any individual event," the minister said.

 

Tehran confirmed earlier this week that its Natanz nuclear enrichment facility was damaged in an unspecified incident. Imagery released by the country's Atomic Energy Organization shows the damaged facility, with burn marks and apparently blown-off gates.

 

Iranian media and some officials have floated the idea that the site was targeted by a cyberattack from Israel or the US. The country's authorities say they have already determined the true cause of the incident, promising to provide further details at a "convenient time."

 

The Natanz incident came amid a series of incidents at Iranian strategic sites, including a blast at a weapons development facility outside Tehran.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth: ‘We Should Listen To The Argument’ For Removing George Washington Statues

 

Democratic Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth said Americans should “listen to the argument” for removing monuments to George Washington, the first president of the United States.

 

During a Sunday morning appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Duckworth was asked by guest anchor Dana Bash to react to President Donald Trump’s defense of U.S. monuments during his Thursday night speech at Mount Rushmore.

 

“I know that you support changing the name of military bases named after Confederate leaders, but there are leaders like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson who were slave owners, and some are demanding their monuments come down too. In your view, where does it end? Should statues of George Washington come down?” Bash asked.

 

“I’ll say we should start a national dialogue on it at some point, but right now we’re in the middle of a global pandemic,” Duckworth responded before accusing Trump of spending “more time honoring dead Confederates” than speaking about those who have died from coronavirus.

 

“That may be true, but George Washington, I don’t think anybody would call him a traitor and there are moves by some to remove statues of him,” Bash pressed. “Is that a good idea?”

German Police Raid Neo-Nazis Allegedly Plotting Mosque Arson Attack

 

Police in the German regions of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt have conducted several raids against a neo-Nazi group that was allegedly plotting an arson attack against a mosque.

 

Police identified at least seven members of the “Free Forces Prignitz” aged between 32 and 40 who are believed to have been involved with a plot to set a mosque on fire in the town of Wittenberge. According to Torsten Herbst, spokesman for the police headquarters in Brandenburg, the men planned to use Molotov cocktails.

 

Herbst added that the suspects also allegedly planned to attack businesses owned by migrants or those with migration backgrounds as well, German tabloid Bild reports.

 

During the raids, investigators found live ammunition, several bladed weapons and are also said to have found various pieces of pro-Nazi material including propaganda and “Nazi devotional items.” A police spokesman added that investigators also seized electronic devices and were still searching them. Around 150 officers were involved in the raids in Brandenburg alone.

 

The raids are come just months after another set of large-scale raids across the country aimed at members of the so-called Reichsburger movement, a group that does not recognize the current German constitution as legal or legitimate.

 

The raid this week echoes a similar police operation in 2017 that saw two people arrested who were allegedly plotting to also attack migrants, Jews, and police officers. They were also members of the Reichsburger movement.

 

Earlier week, it was revealed that the German army special forces command (KSK) would also be partially dissolved due to many members of the unit showing sympathies to far-right ideologies.

 

The German Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD) claimed that members of the KSK were five times more likely to hols what they called extremist views than regular members of the German Bundeswehr.

In truth, few of these leaders can be fairly criticized as supporting Farrakhan’s views and many have criticized such comments. Indeed, his support is hardly helpful for most politicians, including his statement that he likes what he sees in Donald Trump. When negative consequences of treatments and/or disorders are brought on by fears about these same treatments or disorders, we refer to this as the nocebo effect, the negative counterpart of the more familiar placebo effect. The nocebo effect is the result of negative expectations that an individual, patient or practitioner may have about a particular treatment, such as anxiety about the potential risks and side-effects or worries about catching an infection. This response can actually intensify the very symptoms people fear; it works on the basis of the ‘You get what you expect’ principle, and becomes a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. How does that work?

The most important factor behind the nocebo effect is the constant stream of negative information that we are exposed to every day of our lives.In the case of the Corona pandemic, we are bombarded daily with news about the rate of hospital admissions, the number of deaths, fears about infection or economic disaster scenarios, all of which receive far more attention than more positive issues in society such as our solidarity and resilience. In evolutionary terms, we are primed to prioritise this negative information and to remember the negative much better than the positive. This kind of negative feedback subconsciously triggers a stress reaction that raises our level of alertness and activates our fight-flight response. Information about diseases, risks or sideeffects can, through earlier experiences and conditioning (such as nausea caused previously by a medication resulting in these same physiological responses), lead to an increase in the symptoms. To make matters worse, reading an information leaflet can also make people reluctant to take the medication and can result in an increase in the symptoms described.

Early experiences

When stressful events pile up over a longer period of time, such as during the current Corona crisis, earlier experiences and conditioning can play a major role. A person who, for example as a child, had a traumatic experience in hospital, or who has been afraid of germs their whole life andis afraid of viruses is obviously more susceptibleto the fear of catching the same virus themselves. These experiences don’t always have to be personal ones. Model behaviour means we also learn from the environment around us, and simply seeing other people having these experiences can cause the same nocebo effects.We know from long-term epidemiological studies that social isolation is a risk factor forgreater morbidity and mortality.The current quarantine measures mean that some sections of the population have had social isolation forced upon them, and without social support, most people are more susceptible to such disorders as anxiety and feelings of depression.We know, for example, from research on stress that students are much more susceptible to viruses during exam periods,but also that any cuts and bruises they may have take longer to heal than during holiday periods.

Additionally, Dersh saying he waives his right of privacy is a redundant statement. For one, it would only be relevant should he have "had sex" (sure it's not "rape"?) in Epstein's house or on his plane, assuming everything stated is true. Second, there would likely be victims if this were the case and Dersh waiving his rights does not mean the victim's rights are necessarily waived. Now, I'm no lawyer, but if the videos depicted illicit acts with minors and/or rape, then the perpetrators literally have NO rights. Because they are fucking criminals. At least until proven guilty. Video evidence is pretty damning. Dersh may be making this statement knowing his tape was destroyed or non-existent. As I pointed out, this only technically applied to Epstein's house/plane. Riot declared in Portland for THIRD night this week as protesters besiege federal courthouse

 

Portland police used tear gas against protesters who had erected barricades and shot fireworks at the Hatfield Federal Courthouse in the city. Friday was the third riot in Portland this week.

 

Several hundred activists marched on Friday evening into the streets around the courthouse in downtown Portland, bearing makeshift shields and diverse materials they used to erect some barricades, police said.

 

In the early hours of Saturday, the situation became increasingly volatile, with Portland police declaring a riot at around 4am local time. Officers deployed tear gas and pushed the protesters away from the courthouse.

 

Earlier in the night, a group of protesters burned several small fires and shot fireworks in the air and at the courthouse building itself.

 

They also used powerful lasers and flashlights to blind CCTV cameras. US flags were burned at the site, as well as on the spot where the city's iconic elk statue used to stand before being damaged on a previous night of protests.

 

Police said protesters pelted them with projectiles and pointed lasers in officers' eyes. Several people have been arrested.

Bill Gates blames social media platforms for COVID-19 spread in U.S.

 

Microsoft founder Bill Gates blamed social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter for the spread of misinformation about COVID-19 during the pandemic.

 

"Can the social media companies be more helpful on these issues? What creativity do we have? Sadly, the digital tools probably have been a net contributor to spreading what I consider crazy ideas," Gates said in an interview with American business magazine Fast Company.

 

The "crazy ideas" include misinformation convincing people to not wear masks, and conspiracy theories about vaccines to combat the disease.

 

"A lot of it comes in the form of conspiracy, where someone's got some plot and my name even comes up as potentially at the center of some conspiracies, so it is a bit scary," Gates said, adding that people want to be driven towards the facts in the pandemic.

 

In 2015, Gates warned about global pandemics in a TED Talk. This now-realized prediction has raised the conspiracy theory that the billionaire is responsible for creating the novel coronavirus, and netizens have been questioning the purpose of his heavy investments in vaccine development.

 

"We are in a crazy situation so there's going to be crazy rumors," he said during an interview with CCTV in April, adding that best resources, including experts, vaccine developers and drugs are necessary to stop the current global pandemic.

 

"We need to make it [a vaccine] without just focusing on one country, we need to make it for the entire world, including for countries that don't have the resources to pay for vaccine research or vaccine factories," said Gates.

A Facebook spokesperson responded to Gate's criticism by highlighting the company's initiatives to help cope with the global crisis.

"Since January, we've worked closely with health organizations, like the CDC, to connect people to accurate information about COVID-19 and we will continue to do more," the spokesperson said in an email to Fox News.

Michigan Passes Controversial Bill To Microchip Humans Voluntarily To Protect Their Privacy

 

The Michigan House of Representatives has passed a controversial bill to microchip humans voluntarily in the state under the guise of protecting their privacy. The Microchip Protection Act would allow Michigan employers to use microchipping of their workers with their consent. However, research has shown that RFID transponders causes cancer.

 

The plan to microchip humans is sponsored by Rep. Bronna Kahle under the guise of protecting the privacy of workers. The stated objective of the bill is that it will protect the privacy rights of Michigan workers and promote further growth for job providers as it relates to microchipping – a cutting-edge technology on the rise that increases workplace efficiency.

 

“With the way technology has increased over the years and as it continues to grow, it’s important Michigan job providers balance the interests of the company with their employees’ expectations of privacy.”

 

“Microchipping has been brought up in many conversations as companies across the country are exploring cost-effective ways to increase workplace efficiency. While these miniature devices are on the rise, so are the calls of workers to have their privacy protected.”

 

Rep. Bronna Kahle, the Republican who sponsored the bill, said in a press statement.

 

Radio-frequency identification tags, commonly referred to as microchips, are beginning to seep into the marketplace as new technological devices to help streamline everyday business practices. The chips, roughly the size of a grain of rice, are implanted into the hands of employees and act as a replacement for I.D. badges, timecards, usernames and passwords for security clearance, and even credit cards.

 

“Despite this type of technology not quite making its way into our state yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a standard business practice statewide within the next few years,” Kahle said. “We should absolutely take every step possible to get ahead of these devices.”

 

Under Kahle’s plan, Michigan employers would be able utilize microchipping, but could not mandate employees to have such devices implanted. Kahle said the measure strikes a good balance between protecting workers’ rights and providing businesses with flexibility to increase efficiency and further grow.

 

However, research has shown that RFID transponders causes cancer. Research has suggested 90 percent of Americans are uncomfortable with microchipping mostly due to studies that suggested a link between RFID transponders and cancer in lab animals.

Just days after the George Floyd incident occurred, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton lost her appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, during which she tried, but failed, to avoid having to testify under oath about her emails and the Benghazi case. But much of the world failed to notice because the mainstream media was too busy broadcasting all the riots and looting in response to “racism.”

 

Judicial Watch, the same group that is now suing Anthony Fauci and the World Health Organization (WHO) over the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, had filed a lawsuit against Clinton demanding that the State Department release documents and communication associated with the 2012 terror attack at the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. As many of our readers well know, U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, along with three other Americans, were killed in the attack.

 

Clinton was Secretary of State at the time, and has been accused of illegally using a private email server during her time in office. Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against Clinton to examine any potential misconduct in which she may have been engaged. Some of Clinton’s private emails have been retrieved from her unsecured server, but evidence emerged to suggest that Clinton had “tried to delete or destroy” all of the most incriminating ones.

 

It was also revealed that Clinton had asked former United Kingdom prime minister Tony Blair to keep communicating with her via her private email server after her confirmation. This earned Clinton the descriptor of being “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information, though she was never actually charged by the FBI under then-director James Comey.

Our readers probably know the rest of the story up until June 2 when Clinton’s lawyers challenged a March 2 order from U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth ordering her to testify. This order stated:

 

“The Court is not confident that State currently possesses every Clinton email recovered by the FBI; even years after the FBI investigation, the slow trickle of new emails has yet to be explained. For this reason, the Court believes the subpoena would be worthwhile and may even uncover additional previously undisclosed emails. Accordingly, the Court GRANTS this request,” referring to the request from Judicial Watch.

 

It went on to indicate that Clinton would, in fact, be deposed on matters related to her use of a private email server, as well as her understanding of the State’s record management obligations. While Clinton and her cohorts cannot be questioned about any actions they took after the Benghazi attack, they can be questioned “about their knowledge of the existence of any emails, documents, or text messages related to the Benghazi attack.”

 

When the time comes on September 9, Clinton will have to answer for why she deleted 33,000 emails from her private email server, and what they contained. Despite repeated claims that these emails were “personal,” the FBI has already recovered more than 17,000 of them that were, in fact, work-related. Clinton will also have to answer for why senior Obama administration officials knowingly misled the country about what actually happened during the Benghazi attack.

 

“Did they contain any classified information,” Dr. Veronika Kyrylenko asks about Clinton’s emails, writing for American Thinker. “Did they contain human intel? Did [Clinton] know about the upcoming terrorist attack? What measures did she use to prevent the Benghazi attack? What measures did she use to save the American lives?”

For many open-minded Americans and Russians it has become a tradition to congratulate each other on their independence days, which are June 12 for Russia and July 4 for America.

 

This year we decided to note some Russian artistic works, which in the current political atmosphere might speak better than words when sending best wishes to America.

 

We are talking about sculptures of famous Americans located in Moscow and produced by well known Russian artist Alexander Burganov. As a side note, his sculpture of Russia’s most famous poet Alexander Pushkin is located on the campus of George Washington University, at the corner of 22nd and H streets, NW.

 

On the front lawn of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, one can see Burganov’s statue of American president John Quincy Adams, who also had served as the first U.S. Ambassador to Russia following the opening of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1807.

 

Another spectacular Burganov statue features President Abraham Lincoln and Russian Tsar Alexander II. Although the two men never met, and came from vastly different backgrounds, there are powerful similarities. In 1861 Alexander signed a manifesto that abolished serfdom in Russia, while Lincoln issued in 1862 and signed in 1863 the Emancipation Proclamation liberating slaves in America.

 

During the American Civil War, Russia was the only European power that supported the cause of the Union. In 1863 two Russian Navy squadrons sailed to America, which in many ways turned the tide of the war in Lincoln’s favor while sending a strong warning to the other European empires, especially France and Great Britain, who were entertaining the idea of open support for the Southern rebels. When the Russian fleet arrived in New York and several months later in San Francisco, Lincoln and all the officials in Washington said, “Thank God for the Russians.”

 

Burganov is also the author of the Ronald Reagan/Mikhail Gorbachev statue. These two leaders made history by ending the Cold War that threatened nuclear annihilation of both nations and the world.

UN Declares World Peace!

 

Kumbaya and pass the bubbly! World peace has been achieved!

 

What, haven’t you heard? The UN Security Council just passed a resolution that calls for a global ceasefire as a type of “humanitarian pause” while the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic that (we are told) is wreaking such havoc on the human population.

 

Or, as the UN puts it:

 

The Security Council on Wednesday echoed the Secretary-General’s call for a worldwide ceasefire, to combat the coronavirus pandemic that has already claimed more than half a million lives. The UN chief welcomed the long-awaited move, calling for countries to “redouble their efforts for peace”.

 

This tells us three things:

 

1) Our noble leaders love us and care for us and want to protect us during this time of crisis.

 

2) The pandemic must be real and it must be supremely grave, because why else would the Security Council be acting like this?

 

3) We can expect the next 90 days to be a heaven on earth where the nations of the world lay down their arms and live in peace and harmony.

 

Right?

 

Well, not exactly. You see, the resolution asks member nations to cease all of their military operations except “military operations against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da’esh), Al-Qaida and Al-Nusra Front, and all other individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with Al-Qaida or ISIL, and other Council-designated terrorist groups.” But other than that wee little asterisk, that’s it. War is done-zo! . . . For three months, anyway.

 

So, wait, why did the Saudis just launch a fresh military campaign against the Yemenis? Didn’t they get the memo? What on earth is going on here?

Signs of trouble have long been visible in public records. The Congressional Credit Union repossessed Abid’s car in 2009, and he declared bankruptcy in 2012, facing multiple lawsuits.

Three rockets were fired from the northern Gaza Strip into Israel Sunday evening, as tensions along the border region appeared to flare amid Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank.

 

Two rockets apparently struck an open field at around 7 p.m., the military said, without causing injuries or damage.

 

About an hour later, rockets sirens again rang out in the southern Israeli Sha’ar Hanegev as another rocket was launched out of the Strip. The rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, according to the army.

 

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

 

The normally restive Gaza border region has seen months of calm since a flare-up of violence in February, amid reported intensive efforts to reach a long-term truce deal between Israel and Hamas.

 

But tensions have risen in recent days, with Gazan terror groups vowing to oppose Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank under the Trump administration’s peace plan rejected by the Palestinians.

 

Late last month, Gaza’s Hamas rulers warned that in the event that Israel goes ahead with applying its sovereignty over settlements and the Jordan Valley as provided for in the US peace plan, it would amount to a “declaration of war” against Palestinians.

 

A day later, on June 27, Palestinians in Gaza fired two rockets at Israel. The rockets fell in open areas and did not cause casualties or damage. One rocket landed in an open area in the Sha’ar Hanegev region, while the second apparently fell within the Strip.

 

Israel retaliated with strikes on Hamas sites, saying it held the terror group responsible for attacks from Gaza.

 

On Wednesday, sources in Hamas claimed the Gaza-based terror group had fired a volley of rockets into the sea as a warning to Israel not to annex parts of the West Bank.

 

However, the IDF said it was unaware of any such launch, and there was no additional confirmation.

 

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s center-right coalition government had set July 1 as the date from which it could begin implementing US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace proposal, annexing territory. But there was no announcement last Wednesday or any day since.

The only conviction of theirs is anti-Americanism by any means necessary.

 

The way to bring people over isn’t to try to convince them that what they believe isn’t true. While it’s possible to do that in theory, we don’t have enough time or resources to make that a priority for the time being. The way to bring people over is to emphasize the overlap between what we, and most people, already believe. These would be things like American nationalism, ending unnecessary wars, prioritizing the American family, etc. If we waste time trying to sell our beliefs within the context of the left’s morality, we’ll lose (see: last 60 yrs)

 

If we could actually assert those things in a timely manner on a national scale, it would be a checkmate. The only real commonality we still have is that we’re all geographically American. That’s what we have to emphasize. Otherwise is guaranteed defeat.

 

And while it is true that a driving factor for many of their voters is their now-explicit anti-Americanism, it is still true that a cognitive dissonance exists within many of them to where they want the interests of themselves as Americans to be prioritized, even if it’s an identity that they would reject in the abstract.

Murder figures have skyrocketed and a combination of the coronavirus pandemic, Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests and weak political leadership is in danger of achieving what Osama Bin Laden never could: bringing the Big Apple to its knees.

According to figures released by the New York Police Department, for the first six months of this year, there were 176 murders, an increase of 23 per cent on the 143 killed during the same period last year.

 

The number of shooting victims has gone up 51 per cent to 616 this year. In June alone, there were 250 shootings compared to 97 in the same month last year. Month-on-month, burglaries are up 119 per cent and car thefts up 48 per cent.

 

It used to be that even liberal mayors wouldn’t have allowed a mob to take over their streets — for any reason. The city’s only black mayor, David Dinkins, drastically lowered the crime rate, put hundreds of more police on the streets, and during riots in Crown Heights after a black man stabbed a Hasidic Jew, he quickly deployed an overwhelming force to quell them.

De Blasio’s shortcomings in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak have been well-documented, including allowing the transit system to continue to operate for weeks after the lockdown began. This proved to be catastrophically stupid as it turned the outbreak into an out-of-control pandemic, leading to tens of thousands of deaths.

 

But it’s in the streets that de Blasio’s utter incompetence has been revealed for all to see.

 

“Crime is raging out of control here in New York City,” Kelly said. “I don’t see anything that’s going to change the trajectory of that continuing to rise. There are disorderly groups all over the city challenging police officers. … Police are generally backing off … because their political leaders, the mayors … are telling cops to back off.”

 

And Kelly is astonished at the silence of Democrats.

 

All the while, Kelly said Democrats have remained quiet.

 

“It’s such a change from years ago. You just don’t hear anything from [Democrats],” Kelly said. “They’re sitting on their hands. Or they’re being very supportive [of] taking down the statues. … That’s what they’re interested in. That’s what they’re supporting. The death set off demands for more police accountability, including the “defund the police” calls for cities to slash police department budgets – or even eliminate police departments.

 

Morgan said “one of the criminals” was “trying to assault one of the CBP employees while he was being arrested” overnight.

 

He went on to say that according to the situation report “a pipe bomb, a fused incendiary device and machete was actually discovered during that search.”

 

“Think about the deadly consequences from the criminal actions,” he added.

 

Morgan went on to say, “It's a game to them, it's a deadly game.”

 

“It’s serious. This is about law and order. We must be united,” he continued. “Where are the local political leaders, standing up, saying this is unconscionable, this is wrong, and these individuals should cease and desist and be arrested? Where are they?”

Stanford and UCSF are among the hospitals treating COVID-19 patients from Imperial County along the Mexican border

 

The calls have been relentless. This patient needed to be flown by plane to the Bay Area for care — did he have a crew? That patient was awaiting transfer by helicopter to Santa Barbara for treatment. Could they swing it?

 

“Everyone’s tired because this has been going on for so long,” said Sergio Cardenas, a longtime flight nurse who now serves as Reach Air Medical Services’ program director in Imperial County, a swath of agricultural land wedged into the southeast corner of the state against Mexico and Arizona that has become the California county hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. “We see this as a marathon, not a sprint.”

 

For years, the company has helped the state move patients from hospital to hospital, flying people who had suffered bad heart attacks or traumatic injuries that required more care than the county’s two hospitals could provide to places like San Diego or Palm Springs. Then COVID-19 hit. In recent weeks the company has been transferring patients overwhelmingly battling the highly infectious disease to distances farther than before — including to places such as Silicon Valley.

 

“COVID is a different animal,” Cardenas said.

 

According to the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, at least 15 people have been moved from Imperial to hospitals in the Bay Area. UCSF — which has relatively low numbers of coronavirus patients and can offer highly specialized care — said this week it had received at least three. Stanford has also accepted patients.

 

“As a state with a high risk of earthquakes and wildfires, this type of system enables us to respond to large-scale emergencies,” said Adrienne Green, UCSF Medical Center’s chief medical officer.

 

But with the number of coronavirus cases across the Golden State soaring above 237,000 and hospitals in Imperial County at capacity — and with nearby hospitals in Riverside and Los Angeles also filling quickly — the system has been tested as never before.

 

At least 500 patients have been transported out of Imperial County during the pandemic. One night, Cardenas said, his team mobilized five or six helicopters and three or four planes to move patients.

 

Before the coronavirus hit, transfers typically took three-and-a-half hours. Now, with flight nurses and flight paramedics having to put on and safely remove masks, gloves, gowns and goggles in the searing desert heat, the process can take hours longer. And at times, he’s had to tell hospitals they’ll have to wait because “we just don’t have anybody.”

 

Imperial has become the entryway for U.S. citizens living in Mexico seeking medical care. Around 7,000 people in the county have contracted the virus. More than 100 have died, with almost one in four people tested turning up positive.

 

Recently, Green said, Imperial County reached out to San Francisco’s public health department for assistance. So did Marin County, where an outbreak at San Quentin State Prison has sickened more than 1,000 inmates and sent officials scrambling to find hospital space, including by reopening a surge site at the beleaguered Seton Medical Center in Daly City. UCSF has taken at least four patients from the prison.

 

According to the state’s hospital data, Imperial, which has fewer than 300 beds and a couple of dozen ICU beds, was down to zero ICU beds on June 22, a figure that has since fluctuated but remained low. At the end of June, Riverside, which has roughly 385 ICU beds under normal circumstances, had filled nearly all of them. And health officials are warning that the more than 2,000 ICU beds in Los Angeles could be full in weeks.

 

Counties and hospitals keep track of not only how many beds they have available, but other resources like personal protective gear for health care workers and medication, like remdesivir, one of the first drugs that has shown promise to treat the virus but one that is in short supply.

 

“Because the number of COVID-19-positive inpatients at Stanford Health Care is still low (16 as of June 30), medication supply levels, including remdesivir, are not a concern in the decision to accept transfer patients,” Arthofer said.

 

“This is a new day and age, and it’s been a lot of learning for everybody,” Cardenas said. “A lot of people say take care of yourself, but even on your days off, you’re not really off because you’re trying to prepare mentally for tomorrow.”

Narco Jet Allegedly Shot Down By Mexican Federal Police

 

A private jet allegedly packed with drugs was intercepted by the Mexican Federal Police near the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Municipality in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.

 

La Jornada, one of Mexico City's leading daily newspapers, reports the jet landed on a highway in flames after being attacked by a Mexican Federal Police "gunnery helicopter."

 

A gunnery helicopter from the armed forces opened fire this morning against a small plane, which had to make an emergency landing on the Chunhuhub-José María Morelos highway section, in the central-western region of Quintana Roo, the head of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of the state, Alberto Capella Ibarra.

 

The official said on his Twitter account that "the registration of the aircraft is apparently XB-RCM and could be related to illegal activities. Federal authorities attending to the investigation."

 

Initial reports indicate that around 7:30 am this Sunday an Army helicopter that was flying over the area opened fire on the aircraft.

 

The plane began to emit smoke and later landed on the highway and caught fire, according to unofficial reports.

 

Witnesses who broadcast videos on Twitter report that the aircraft landed smoothly and was set on fire by its crew, who fled the scene.

 

Other versions indicate that, upon landing, the crew of the ship unloaded a shipment of drugs they had on board and placed it inside a van in which they fled, which they abandoned kilometers later.

 

Capella asked motorists to avoid the affected stretch of highway.

An official report from the United States Department of Justice indicates that socialite and alleged Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in New Hampshire while awaiting extradition to New York.

“Once she was in custody and began to relax, officials noticed that she was displaying symptoms related to coronavirus including watery eyes, cough, and mucus. She stood to be tested regardless of symptoms while in custody, but her symptoms and the profile of this particular case caused local officials to speed up the testing practice,” a release from the US Department of Justice stated.

“It looks really bad,” one New Hampshire official told The Brown Valley Observer. “Her symptoms seem advanced at this point and ultimately she will probably end up requiring a ventilator, more likely sooner than later.”

Maxwell was arrested in New Hampshire Thursday morning in connection with Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking ring. Court papers related to her indictment allege that Maxwell was involved in the sexual abuse and trafficking of girls as young as 14 years old. She has faced allegations and previous charges related to her role as a procurer for Epstein’s alleged “sex island”

Coronavirus testing in jails is currently a standard practice in New Hampshire, with all newly arrested inmates tested before release into general population or otherwise moving or extraditing the inmate.

The DOJ release indicates that officials still intend to extradite Maxwell to New York, where she will take up residence in Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center. Manhattan MCC made headlines in 2019 when alleged “sex-trafficker to the stars” and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in an area of the prison where cameras had reportedly malfunctioned, precluding Epstein from appearing in court and testifying about the sex trafficking ring. The incident sparked dozens of conspiracy theories.

Esptein’s infamous “sex island” has been linked to dozens of Hollywood celebrities and politicians through the years, including president Donald Trump and former president Bill Clinton.
