This group solely imposes itself on Anons for their own ends, Anons get NOTHING out of the deal that can't be dealt with otherwise. Using Bank Deposits, JPMorgan Chase Lost $3.2 Billion Trading Stocks and Credit Derivatives in First Quarter

 

Imagine if every bank customer was greeted this week with a big sign just inside their Chase Bank branch that said this: β€œDear Customers: We lost $3.2 billion trading stocks and credit derivatives in the first quarter. We did that using your bank deposits. But don’t worry, that pales in comparison to the $6 billion we lost in 2012 in the London Whale mess.” JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the United States. Each and every week, millions of Americans write out a check on their account at one of the more than 5,000 branches of Chase Bank; or drop into a branch to open a savings account for a grandchild; or to put money into their own retirement account; or to seek financial advice.

 

According to the latest quarterly report from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), JPMorgan Chase lost $2.4 billion trading stocks (equities) and $822 million trading credit derivatives, giving it a net loss among all of its trading in cash instruments and derivatives of $940 million. This is not what happened in the whole sprawling trading octopus of JPMorgan Chase, it’s just what happened in the taxpayer-backstopped, federally-insured bank. For starters, Jamie Dimon was the Chairman and CEO of this bank during the financial crisis when there was an insider whistleblower holding a law license, Alayne Fleischmann, that testified to the U.S. Department of Justice that she had observed β€œa massive criminal securities fraud” inside the bank involving the bogus mortgages the bank had sold in the billions of dollars to investors. But instead of using that first-hand evidence to prosecute the bank, Obama’s Justice Department under Eric Holder used that information to extract a large fine from the bank with no charges brought.

 

Dimon is caught on camera on September 26, 2013 strolling into the offices of Eric Holder to personally negotiate the terms of the settlement. Less than two months later, the Justice Department announced the toothless settlement on behalf of itself and other regulators. Holder said this at the time: β€œThe size and scope of this resolution should send a clear signal that the Justice Department’s financial fraud investigations are far from over. No firm, no matter how profitable, is above the law, and the passage of time is no shield from accountability.” But there was no accountability at all. Nobody went to jail and Jamie Dimon kept his job as Chairman and CEO. The Justice Department’s settlement with JPMorgan Chase for what was clearly fraudulent conduct came just eight months after the U.S. Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations had released a 300-page report on the bank’s use of depositor money inside its federally-insured bank to gamble in exotic derivatives in London, leading to losses of at least $6.2 billion.

 

At the time of the London Whale report, Senator Carl Levin was Chair of the Subcommittee. He said this: β€œOur findings open a window into the hidden world of high stakes derivatives trading by big banks. It exposes a derivatives trading culture at JPMorgan that piled on risk, hid losses, disregarded risk limits, manipulated risk models, dodged oversight, and misinformed the public.”The late Senator John McCain was Ranking Member of the Subcommittee at the time. He made this statement on the matter: β€œThis case represents another shameful demonstration of a bank engaged in wildly risky behavior -but as usual dindu nuffin after making said statement The β€˜London Whale’ incident matters to the federal government because the traders at JPMorgan were making risky bets using excess deposits, portions of which were federally insured. These excess deposits should have been used to provide loans for main-street businesses. Instead, JPMorgan used the money to bet on catastrophic risk.”

 

According to Bloomberg News, the bank itself is now under a criminal probe in the matter, making it at least the fourth criminal probe in the last seven years. On top of an unprecedented criminal past under the tenure of Jamie Dimon, last November we reported that the bank has the dubious distinction of being called out as the riskiest bank in the U.S. by one of its federal regulators. If this sounds more like the description of a bank in a banana republic rather than a U.S. bank holding $1.9 trillion in deposits for average Americans, public pension funds, as well as sophisticated investors, you are correct to be concerned.

Israel cyber authority warns companies to patch Microsoft hackable hole

 

Israel's own cybersecurity firm, Check Point, uncovered the vulnerability and reported it to Microsoft.

 

The Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) issued a warning to companies nationwide on Tuesday night to immediately adopt a fix for a "severe" hole in Microsoft's Windows Domain Name System (DNS) Server.

 

Basically, DNS is a protocol for translating between website names and their corresponding IP addresses.

Microsoft issued a patch on Tuesday for a severe vulnerability in Windows DNS that could permit hackers to execute arbitrary code against targets and gain control of companies' entire information technology infrastructure.

Israel's own cybersecurity firm, Check Point, uncovered the vulnerability and reported it to Microsoft.

 

According to the INCD and reports, the hole would allow attackers to intercept and interfere with emails and network traffic, tamper with services, and steal employees' credentials.

INCD urged all Israeli companies to quickly patch their networks, saying that though there were known known cases yet of it being exploited, it was likely that hackers would jump on the vulnerability soon.

 

Microsoft has been releasing multiple patches recently, having discovered additional vulnerabilities in Windows 10 and Windows Server distributions.

**NY judge upholds Child Victims Act after challenge by Rockville Centre diocese

A judge ruled Wednesday that New York's Child Victims Act is constitutional, rejecting a suit filed by the Diocese of Rockville Centre that claimed the law is barred by the due process clause in the state constitution.

 

The act opened a one-year window for adults in the state who were sexually abused as children to file lawsuits against their abusers. It also adjusted the statute of limitations for both pursuing criminal charges and civil suits against sexual abusers or institutions where the abuse took place.

 

"The court finds the Child Victims Act is a reasonable response to remedy the injustice of past child sexual abuse," Justice Steven Jaeger of the New York Supreme Court in Nassau County wrote in his May 13 decision. β€œAccordingly, it does not violate defendant diocese’s right to due process under the New York State Constitution.”

 

Newsday, a Long Island daily, reported that Jaeger β€œsaid New York courts have upheld suspensions of time limitations as a remedy in extraordinary cases,” and on this basis he held the law to be a reasonable response.

 

Sean Dolan, spokesman for the Rockville Centre diocese, said that β€œWe disagree with the court’s ruling on the due process challenge to the Child Victims Act and we are analyzing our options with respect to appeal of this and other issues.”

 

The law's one-year window opened in August 2019. It was to have expired Aug. 13, 2020, but was extended by governor Andrew Cuomo this week by five months, to Jan. 14, 2021, due to court delays caused by the coronavirus.

 

According to Newsday, 44 suits have been filed against the Rockville Centre diocese under the the Child Victims Act. Across the state, more than 1,700 have been filed.

 

The diocese had filed its motion in November 2019. It said the Due Process clause β€œallows the legislature to revive formerly time-barred claims only where they could not have been raised earlier,” which it adds β€œis not so here.”

 

β€œThe formerly time-barred claims revived by the legislature pursuant to the Child Victims Act all could have been brought within the then-applicable three- or five-year period, after plaintiffs attained the age of majority,” according to the diocese.

 

The diocese added that the state Court of Appeals β€œhas held that the Due Process Clause allows for the exercise of what it has characterized as an exceptional legislative power 'to remedy an injustice' created by circumstances that prevented the assertion of a timely claim.”

 

It said claims under the Child Victims Act β€œdo not fit within the scope of this narrowly circumscribed legislative authority.”

 

The Child Victims Act was signed into law in February 2019. In addition to opening a one-year window for suits, it allows child abuse victims to file criminal charges up to age 28, and lawsuits up to age 55. Previously, they had until the age of 23 to file charges or a civil claim.

 

Dolan said the diocese is committed to providing β€œpastoral care and equitable compensation” to child sex abuse victims through its independent reconciliation and compensation program.

 

As of August 2019 that program had paid a little more than $50 million to 277 claimants since its 2017 institution. Between 75 and 80 claims were still being processed, and 370 people had filed claims with the program.

 

The day the one-year lookback was opened, Bishop Robert Guglielmone of Charleston was named in a lawsuit accusing him of sexually abusing a young man while he was a priest of the Rockville Centre diocese, starting in 1978. The bishop has said he is innocent of the accusation.

 

In January 2019 Dennis Poust, director of the New York Catholic Conference, told CNA the conference had not opposed the final version of the act, which provided the same protections for child abuse victims in public institutions, including schools, as it did for private institutions.

 

Earlier versions discriminated between public and private institutions, but once that was amended β€œthe conference dropped any opposition to its passage,” he said.

 

When the bill was passed, the New York bishops issued a joint statement saying, β€œWe pray that the passage of the Child Victims Act brings some measure of healing to all survivors by offering them a path of recourse and reconciliation.”

 

Earlier this month the Diocese of Buffalo asked a federal court to halt all outstanding clergy sex abuse litigation against it as it navigates bankruptcy proceedings.

Libyan House Of Representatives Grants Egypt Right To Military Intervention

 

On July 13th, the Libyan House of Representatives (based in Tobruk) granted the Egyptian armed forces the right to intervene in the country’s ongoing conflict to protect Libyan and Egyptian national security.

 

The decision allows Egypt to intervene if the Egyptian armed forces see an imminent threat to the security of the two countries.

 

The parliament announced that it welcomes the statement made by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi regarding military intervention in Libya, and called for concerted efforts between the two brotherly countries to ensure the defeat of invading occupiers and to preserve national security and stability in the region.

 

The statement added: β€œConfronting invaders guarantees the independence of the Libyan national decision, and protects the sovereignty and unity of Libya, as well as the wealth and resources of the Libyan people from the ambitions of the colonial invaders.”

 

The Libyan parliament stressed that maintaining a fair distribution of wealth and oil revenues and protecting it from armed militias is a legitimate demand made by all Libyan people.

 

Finally, the statement said that the decision was made because of β€œblatant Turkish military intervention in Libya, in cooperation with armed militias that are controlling the west of the country under a de facto authority.”

 

The occupation, the statement said, can only be stopped through concerted efforts between Arab countries.

 

Hours later, the Supreme Council of Sheikhs said that it supported the statement by the HoR.

Syrian Arab Army Arrests Militants Spying On Russian Military Installations

 

On July 14th, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) personnel detained 3 militants from Maghawir al-Thawra (Revolutionary Commando Army), who were allegedly tasked with collecting data on Russian military facilities.

 

According to the militants’ statements, they collected data on Syrian and Iranian military installations, in addition to Russian ones.

 

The extremists were taken to Tadmor, located near Syria’s Palmyra.

 

The group went on a mission, but wandered into a minefield. The explosions killed three people, including the commander and guide.

 

β€œWe are part of Maghawir al-Thawra organization. Our group consisted of eight people: seven fighters and one guide, who was involved in drug trafficking and transported personnel. We went by motorbikes to fulfil missions and were trapped in a mine field. As a result, the group’s commander, a guide and another person were blown up by a mine. We lost our way and did not know where to go, because the guide died, and we started looking for the way out and continued moving. Then we were taken hostage and the Syrian forces brought us here,” Jasem al-Ali, one of the detained reportedly said.

 

The group was tasked with collecting data on military facilities al-Ali admitted:

 

β€œWe were sent for fulfilling a mission in Raqqa province, in Al-Mansurah. The goal was to collect information. <…We had to obtain data on Russian, Iranian and Syrian facilities,” the militant said, also adding that the mission began at Al-Tanf.

 

The militants were equipped with several AK-47 assault rifles, grenades, a large amount of ammunition, as well as money and drugs. They also received large sums of money β€œfrom their sponsors.”

 

Their training reportedly took place with American M-16 rifles, but they were still given AK-47s.

 

The militant also said that they had been trained under the supervision of instructors from the United States.

 

β€œWe were taught to handle all types of weapons by American instructors. All weapons were American-made. I saw American instructors, they come to training, but the classes themselves are conducted by the Syrians. From afar, Americans observe, verify and evaluate the progress of preparation,” said Abdullah al-Mishuat, another detained militant.

 

al-Mishuat said that the curators gave the group β€œthousands of dollars” for the assignment.

 

β€œAll the money was in the command of the Yazan group. He was blown up by a mine, and we lost everything,” the gunman said.
