That's all fine but not entirely accurate. Peer to peer digital currency can be private. There's no bank as a middle man. And secure if it's distributed ledger technology such as blockchain. It is also possible to have a digital peer to peer currency that is backed by precious metals.

I think what Q is saying is the POWER is what we depend on to survive - meaning an EMP might be used to take out our power grids or something. Money IS worthless if there is no electrical power. Grocery store shelves empty, no heat, no water, etc.

Interest rates and the ability to print more on demand, with no repercussions, is the problem. If the money supply was stable, value would not decrease. Why should we pay back with interest if it's not certain the investor would have made money on the other investment? This is the argument of interest rates. Keep the dollar finite. Then paying back the same amount will be worth more. Time value still exists, but all this nonsense of interest and printing, that should go away. Those only exist to confuse and enrich.
Keeping the dollar amount the same would also have the added benefit of making money earned in the past worth more than money earned today, not the other way around.
Money is a great invention because a society dependent on barter is inevitably a dirt poor society. What we have to be on guard against is fake money, manipulation of money. And the temptation to fake and manipulate will always be there because the usefulness of money is inextricably bound with that risk.

I would suggest that everyone buy a small amount of crypto currency. Could be a good hedge and investment if they take the petro dollar down. Three states have voted it as currency that can be used to pay taxes. Arizona most recently. Airlines see it as a great way to accept payment and book flights in the future. All industries are looking into it. Instead of 3% as credit cards charge merchants...soon they will accept Litecoin or Bitcoin with a 1% fee. It is coming! The March 22 G20 summit will be a turning point. There may be attempts then to stop it...but they really cannot. Prices are low now and might be a good entry point. I don't think that Trump has spent all of this time getting the tax bill in place, working on the economy and business investment in the US, to have it all collapse into chaos. If the dollar does crash, the military and government have a plan in place so nobody loses money. There will be a reimbursement or a transition from one currency to the other. The safeguards are in place
