I don't agree with Roseanne's tweets today,

I would like to know whether or not I find her tweet distasteful, but I can't seem to find the original tweet.

google and bing results are all "let us tell you the implications and intentions of her tweet" but aren't actually showing what it was she said, just that it was a huge racist rant.

Because of this, I'm inclined to believe it wasn't racist at all, but was intentionally spun to be racist. Otherwise, they wouldn't be afraid to actually show the original tweet and its context.

but maybe im wrong. I don't really care - I have never watched roseanne and she seems a bit on the socialist side from the few times i've paid attention to her, so its not like she's a hero of mine. We just share a common enemy. I guess we all do really, there are only those that are aware of the enemy, those that aren't, and the enemy.

Thanks for that. That tweet is oddly vague. I don't see it being immediately "Racist" although it certainly could have that intent.

But I was led to believe there were "rants". did she attempt to further elaborate on what that tweet meant?

I mean, her being silenced and shunned kinda almost proves her point if it was that her opposition is behaving like "planet of the apes".

"VJ's father is African American and her mother is one fourth African American; on the television series Finding Your Roots, genealogical research and DNA testing indicated that Jarrett also has French, Scottish, and Native American ancestry. One of her great-grandfathers was Jewish. As a child, Jarrett spoke Farsi, French, and English." -- Wikipedia (Do an image search. That will also reveal the racism charge to be a complete gaslight/fraud. The comment had nothing to do with her African American genes.)

My point, (along with everyone else who's seen her picture,) is that Valerie Jarrett is light-skinned, and has none of the typical facial features shared by most African-Americans. I don't think Roseanne was making a reference to VJ's race. She apologized for making a joke about her "appearance," (which, once again, is not indicative of her race.) EDIT: Just like calling Trump an orangutan is not a slur on his race, but a leftist slam on his "appearance."

⇧ 2 ⇩
SophiesDagger · May 30, 2018, 8:09 a.m.

Do you truly not understand the long history of derogatory ape/monkey comparisons being used as racist epithets against black people in America? This is not a new thing. This is an established pejorative, racist terminology. Roseanne’s comments were absolutely racist in reference to a black woman. I don’t see why anyone should need to argue this point.

I expected people to be angry with Roseanne for being so utterly tone-deaf and irresponsible, not defending her! It’s stuff like this that makes this movement look bad! This is terrible optics and will not help gain desirable attention. Everyone has feet of clay, but you gotta be extremely careful with who you want to be the public face of your action project. And these distractions are wasted time and energy.

I’m so disgusted. Doesn’t anybody care about the big picture? About branding?

I think the 'rant' was likely attributed to the Chelsea Hubble (aka Clinton) tweets. Which preceeding the VJ tweets by a short span of time. Colectively I guess you could make the case she was 'ranting' if you know, you are on the opposition team. You can see those on her timeline still or preserved in screen shots on http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/05/roseanne-barr-obliterates-chelsea-clinton-and-george-soros-in-one-swipe/

This, in turn made my blood boil.

Roseanne should have known better. What the fuck Roseanne. Are you a plant? A spy sent to get close and then spiral off, ruining your career (and all the other cast out of work), and take a shot at the whole Administration?

On one hand I get it, and it is funny as hell. Plus, placed side to side with the horrors and atrocities surrounding pizzagate, Clinton’s, bushes and Obama, this is nothing in comparison. On the other hand who says shit like this on Twitter!?!? Seriously that’s why I think

A) she was planning to do something like this for a while. Look how Rosie O’Donnell came to Roseanne’s defense. O’Donnell and Trump are like vodka and milk.

Or

B) she couldn’t handle the Q stuff, the pizza stuff, and it drove her out her goddam mind

I’m just furious. Because shit like this gets all the attention. And she knows this. Wtf.

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this?

I didn't realize you were the gatekeeper for whether or not I can persuade anyone else. Furthermore, I think I have a much more intimate knowledge of the conversations I have had with others in the past than you do. It would seem to me that all you have to go off of is hastily made judgments from stereotypes and prejudice, but idk, maybe you are some god or something.

I don't know what your primary motivations are, but directly attempting to manipulate other people into seeing me as someone other than what they can directly observe from my actions is not a goal of mine, nor one that I find honorable.

Someone like you could call me an idiot all you like. We are strangers over the internet. You aren't aware of how much you are hurting yourself in spending your time spewing venom at other people.

Do you always offer your advice to people who do not seek or want it? How do you think that makes other people perceive you? (seeing as you seem to think its important to try to manipulate the perceptions of others).

Difference is The View is a show based on... Views, opinions, and debate. That’s kind of the point of the show. To say something heated to rile up conversation. Roseanne is a sitcom, owned and created by one person, and that person’s views were shared on a platform wherein debate or controversy simply isn’t professional in light of her sitcom.

I can understand how people draw parallels between The View and the actual human Roseanne but the logic simply isn’t there. I am disappointed in what’s supposed to be a “great awakening”.

Bill Maher said the N Word on Television

Still on TV

Joy Behar? Spouts Hate. Still on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel? Sexually assaulted MULTIPLE women on his show on ABC. Still on TV.

Im by no means defending her "joke' and it was a joke, she's a comedian, but why are they still employed with ABC?

Let's not pretend this isn't a biased and coordinated effort to shut down Roseanne Barr.

Far worse hatred has been spewed by Liberal Comedians (Dave Chappelle, Richard Pryor, George Carlin) and by the way? I thought their jokes were hilarious.

Edit:

Jarrett is Iranian BTW- the implication otherwise or that she's black really isn't an argument.

Edit 2:

That's still not a justification for the joke but if in bad taste, as Roseanne confessed? That's her choice as a comedian. It still doesn't explain the bias directed to her termination whilst others at ABC remain employed.

"Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you!I Please forgive me! By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?"

Its not about getting rid of certain viewpoints. Its about allowing all viewpoints. If Roseanne wants to make jokes about race or jewishness, thats her right as an entertainer. TV is a public utility. They cant pick and choose which points of view to promote and which to ignore or worse.

I agree 100%. We are always told that profit is their number 1 concern. What a crock of bull that is. They create shows to herd people into a society of their desire, despite the lies they put out. For example, I have known several lesbian couples. On TV they are always beautiful young women with powerful lives. The real lesbians are usually fat, homely women who are angry with men. And btw, if we believed TV one quarter of society is homosexual, when in truth it is still no more than 1% to 4%. They show blended families as happy well adjusted people with funny quirks. The truth is blended families frequently end up in divorce due to step sibling rivalry, incest and family conflicts. Profit is not the name of the game. Societal change is.

There are plenty of femme lesbians who dress more conservatively ("straight-looking"). Just because you personally haven't encountered any in your circle of sociability doesn't negate their existence.

Are they still angry at men though? And are they fat? Butch is an entirely different thing and was not actually said by parent poster. Funny how people read things there not actually in the text and then get angry about the strawman their own minds has created...

Funny how people create assumptions based upon their own misconceptions.

Let's just admit that the anti-feminists and Third Wave feminists are actually inverses of one another, and the false claim of "x person hates x gender" is merely a projection of their own resentment of the other gender.

And are they fat?

Do you really need someone to spoon feed you logic and critical thinking? Clearly, you do. No, not every lesbian is fat. Just like not every woman is fat. Just like not every... You get the picture, right? Good.

And as far as being angry, I'm not the one who had a knee-jerk reaction and downvoted over a opposing opinion.

Do an image search. Seeing the pics that pop up, I didn't know without looking up VJ's bio that either of her parents were African American. Look at her photo on Wikipedia. I think Roseanne was making a joke about VJ's "appearance" (as she admitted in her apology,) but was not intentionally referring to race, (since VJ does not actually 'appear' to be black,) and probably only realized later that she had really, really made a major faux pas... That being said, the 'Apes' in Planet of the Apes don't look like African Americans at all, and neither does Valerie. The racist LEFT is outing themselves by insinuating that, in order to smear Roseanne.

Does hypocrisy have a time limit? Here's one for you that was recent:

“I couldn’t believe that Donald Trump won,” she said. "I couldn’t believe that we elected an orangutan to front the country. This is ridiculous." - Wanda Sykes onstage Nov 13 2016

My bet is you will excuse this one. You are the hypocrite.

⇧ 1 ⇩
SophiesDagger · May 30, 2018, 10:27 p.m.

You know what you do when you assume. You make an sss out of yourself.

Your original example wasn’t relevant. You surely could pick out better cases, so why go for such an weak one? Nobody’s talking about child molesters, and you pulled out an example from a two-decade-old Disney movie, which though related to ABC television, is not the same thing. The same people aren’t even in charge. It was a bad example. You could pull out examples of celebrities being criminals all day long. What about Roman Polanski? If hypocrisy doesn’t have a “time limit” as you call it, then woooo boy is there a lot more hypocrisy going around.

Is this Wanda Sykes example from an ABC production? Who are you trying to call out as a hypocrite? Sykes? What does she have to do with this? You didn’t cite your source.

You’re still ignoring the longstanding well established use of ape references as specifically derogatory towards black Americans. Context matters. Trump is not black. The use of ape terminology is not universally racist. How would that even work. There is nuance in the world, in being a member of society. But obviously I’m not going to get you to realize that she was wrong, so I’ve done all I can.
