Qresearch is a 24/7 beehive of activity where anons post their diggs, memes and prayers.

For this to happen requires ''bakers''–which is why they have been called "the core of this board."

Bakers perform several key functions:

gotta ask ya bout something - looks like you grabbed an old dough to bake with last night (might have had it open along with current one). Can be hard to notice if you're new because all doughs sort of look the same. Espec with shilly doughshitters, gosh they were bad last night! Damn leafy.

 

Don't worry, it's all ok now. But suggest making sure the dough you're using is current one (which happened to be mine, which made it easier to see what was going on).

  2. tripcode doesn't work on /qr/ at all of course

used to have one that was close to 100% (seems like)

what i like:

  • great service - definitely needed

  • diverse/interesting

  • good for independent minded sobs

  • challenging in ways that really change you (mebbe one reason why not all bakers stay)

  • great training for developing "creative problem solving skills" (KEK)

i bake in compression gloves and sleeves, both sides. Often plus braces and sometimes electrical tape for base of hand (where joins the wrist). one reason why it takes time for me to 'fire up the kitchen' but helps a lot. 32" monitor enormously helpful for eyestrain. still getting it but at least 50% better.

Also athletic tape and sometimes shoulder support in some form.

Last - wrapping fingers in the type of tape they used for taping broken toes together, provides excellent support espec along with compression gloves. Or use first aid tape just on TOP of fingers.

 

When having severe problems with mouse (index) finger, switched the right hand mouse to left handed and used middle finger instead of index finger for about 3 weeks to let mouse finger rest. Very helpful.

Good observations. My 2cents:

 

Make a distinction between practice bakers and live bakers.

 

Practice bakers deserve - and generally get - all the help, support & encouragement bakers can give them. Like babies taking first steps. Continues into live baking too. But there's a difference.

 

Once new bakers go live, the emphasis necessarily switches: it's no longer about the baker but about the board (keeping it clean/tidy, ready for Q, ready for anons to post). Feedback during live bakes is highly impersonal (or ought to be); it's really not about the baker but the board.

 

If new bakers go live prematurely (and have gaps in basic skills) it's inevitable that they're gonna get called out by someone - anons, bakers, or shills. As you say.

 

Bakers who jump in real fast may think that, once they are baker, they are "in charge." Technically yes. But at the start, there's lots they just don't know, need to learn to ask q's and to listen while they're gaining experience.

 

Sooner or later, all bakers seem to wind up having some kind of really tough experience. The "make it or break it" kind. Those who started baking coz they're talented and it's exciting (which it is) don't always make it thru. Those who so can make it thru just about anything.

Exactly. When shills really lay it on, that's when baker finds out whether he really has "baking temperament." In the long run, bakers gotta be both grounded and fierce to last.

I'm thinking there's two things this can describe. First is baker surgically but dispassionately targeting attacker, second is baker emotionally reacting to attacker (or imagined attackers).

 

First is ok bc although the blows hurt, baker's still in control - not flailing. Sees attack as impersonal (in that bakers always get attacked, it's the kitchen they are attacking, not you personally). Responds with his own attack - ruthlessly. Second is a problem because attacker hurts in a way that really knocks socks completely off, baker either really knocked down (loses confidence) or continues to bake but with a huge chip-on-shoulder (coz now everyone on the board = potential enemy).

 

Those in first gp usually already had an experience like that and survived. But everyone has to have a first time - and for some, it will happen here.
