Have many friends who took the shot and am also concerned for them. A couple had problems that may or may not be related, but all the others seem to be doing fine. Details about ways to counter the effects have been coming out and will likely continue, and no one knows for certain how many will ever be affected at all. FWIW this anon hopes for the best, watches for possible problems in the ppl I care about and have the info and some recommended supplies to share for trial if friends interested. Stapleton resigns from House amid investigation

 

SANTA FE – House Majority Leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton resigned from the Legislature on Friday as law enforcement agents conducted a criminal investigation into possible kickbacks and violations of the Governmental Conduct Act – an abrupt end to a 27-year rise to power at the Roundhouse.

In her resignation letter, Stapleton said she β€œunequivocally” denies the allegations against her but that it's best for the state if she steps down.

β€œThis is a decision that weighs heavily on me, and which I have made after a tremendous amount of consideration of the best interest of the People,” she said in a letter addressed to Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, New Mexico's chief elections officer.

Stapleton, an Albuquerque Democrat, said her resignation would allow her to focus the needed β€œtime and energy to fully defend against these allegations.”

No charges have been filed against Stapleton.

The state Attorney General's Office and a federal grand jury this week served subpoenas on Albuquerque Public Schools, where Stapleton works as coordinator and director of Career and Technical Education.

A search warrant affidavit said the Attorney General's Office was conducting a β€œcriminal investigation of racketeering, money laundering, receiving illegal kickback, and violations of the Governmental Conduct Act.”

 

An APS vendor, Robotics Managing Learning Systems, paid more than $950,000 to four charities and businesses Stapleton either owns or had close ties to, according to the search warrant affidavit.

The state's criminal investigation came after APS Superintendent Scott Elder sent Attorney General Hector Balderas a letter in April outlining concerns raised by the district's procurement division.

Attorney: Presumption of innocence

Stapleton and her attorney, Ahmad Assed, made clear Friday they will vigorously fight to clear her name.

In a written statement, Assed said his client is β€œdeeply troubled by the false allegations raised by the Superintendent of APS, and unequivocally denies them.”

Stapleton, he said, β€œadamantly maintains” her innocence and is eager to cooperate with the investigation.

β€œShe is presumed innocent under the law, particularly when no charges have been filed,” Assed said. β€œThere is a high burden to present evidence to support proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the State must meet to overcome the presumption of her innocence.”

Majority leader since 2017

House Speaker Brian Egolf, D-Santa Fe, said he received Stapleton's resignation letter Friday afternoon.

He called Stapleton's decision β€œappropriate and in the best interest of the Legislature and the state.”

Stapleton is leaving after 27 years as a member of the House of Representatives. She became the House majority leader in 2017, making her the second-highest ranking member of the chamber.

The majority leader plays a key role in determining political strategy and managing the flow of work taken up by the full House.

Stapleton's resignation comes as House Democrats were preparing to hold a private caucus meeting Saturday to weigh whether she should remain in her leadership role.

Instead, they will now consider whether to pick a new majority leader immediately and, if so, who will get the job. A full session of the Legislature isn't expected until late this year, when lawmakers are set to take up redistricting.

Who takes Stapleton's seat in the House will be determined by the Bernalillo County Commission, where Democrats hold a majority. The appointee would serve until the next election.

Stapleton represents neighborhoods along East Central Avenue in Albuquerque, roughly between San Mateo and Louisiana. The district stretches generally from Gibson to Lomas.

In her resignation letter – released by House Democrats – Stapleton said she had served as a legislator and majority leader β€œwith great distinction and humility.”

But she also said it was appropriate for someone to replace her who can devote their full attention to the job.

β€œThis is a pivotal moment that cannot be hindered by any outside interruptions that will impede the continued flow of government and the provision of services to the people of New Mexico,” Stapleton said.

State Republican Party Chairman Steve Pearce, who served with Stapleton in the state House, called it β€œa sad day in New Mexico politics.”

β€œRep. Stapleton must be held accountable,” Pearce said, β€œand we hope the investigation and judicial process will take the proper course in this matter.”

Supreme Court: Retirees Can Be Court-Martialed for Crimes Committed After Service

 

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the Defense Department's authority to prosecute retired service members for crimes they commit, even after retirement.

 

The court on Tuesday chose not to hear the case of a retired Marine who was court-martialed for a sexual assault he committed three months after leaving the service in August 2015. By not accepting the case, Larrabee v. the United States, the court upheld the status quo: that military retirees are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The denial of Larrabee's petition marks the high court's second rebuff in a year of a case involving a military retiree accused of non-military crimes in retirement.

 

Retired Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Steven Larrabee was convicted of sexually assaulting a bartender, the wife of an active-duty Marine, at a bar in Iwakuni, Japan, where he worked as a civilian. He had been retired technically, placed on the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve status list for three months.

 

Following a general court-martial in which he wore civilian clothes, Larrabee was sentenced to eight years' confinement, a reprimand and a dishonorable discharge. In a pre-trial agreement, Larrabee's prison term was reduced to 10 months.

Larrabee served his sentence but tried to have his conviction overturned on appeal, arguing that he should have been tried in a civilian court, as the offenses occurred after he was retired.

 

The case closely resembles that of retired Gunnery Sgt. Derek Dinger who, also while living on Okinawa and on the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve list and, later, the Active Duty Retired List, was found to be in possession of and producing child pornography. He was arrested and initially indicted within the civilian courts, but his case ended up in the military court system, where he was convicted and sentenced to nine years' confinement and a dishonorable discharge.

 

Dinger appealed his discharge, arguing that the case should not have fallen under the military court system and that a dishonorable discharge should be reserved for "those who separated under conditions of dishonor."

 

His challenge also was petitioned to the U.S. Supreme Court. It was denied last June.

Attorneys for both Marines argued that the cases should have been considered by the U.S. Supreme Court because they have far-reaching consequences for military retirees. The law stipulates that "retired members of a regular component of the armed forces who are entitled to pay" and "members of the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve" are subject to court-martial jurisdiction.

 

The reasoning, the government argues, is that retirement is simply a change of military status and retired personnel are subject to recall should the need arise.

 

But Stephen Vladeck, a University of Texas law professor who represented Larrabee, said that this argument no longer holds true with the rise of the reserve component. He called the idea that retirees are reserved for future service "anachronistic," adding that military retirees are no longer among the "pool of persons at the ready" and thus should not be subject to the UCMJ.

 

"Increasingly, the function has been performed by reserves, not retirees," he said.

 

Furthermore, Vladeck said in an interview with Military.com, there are articles in the UCMJ that could place many military retirees at risk for arrest, and the U.S. Supreme Court has an interest in weighing in on how cases involving retirees are handled.

 

He cited one provision in the UCMJ that makes "contemptuous words" used by a commissioned officer "against the president, the vice president, Congress" and others as punishable by court-martial.

 

"From Adm. Bill McRaven to Gen. Michael Hayden and Gen. Martin Dempsey, some of President Donald Trump's more visible critics of late have been retired military officers. And a provision of federal law … makes it a crime, triable by court-martial," he wrote in a blog post on Lawfare. "But does the Constitution really allow the government to subject to military trial those who have retired from active duty in some cases, long ago even for offenses committed while they are retired?"

Nearly half of Republicans believe there will be a time soon where 'patriotic Americans' will 'have to take the law into their own hands,' according to a new poll.

 

The YouGov survey for George Washington University found that 47% of Republicans surveyed agreed with the statement there will be a time coming when 'patriotic Americans have to take the law into their own hands.'

 

Just 9% of Democrats agreed with that same conclusion, in a shocking difference of opinion on partisan political influence on laws in the United States.

 

More than half of Republicans - 55% - also supported the use of force to 'preserve the traditional American way of life. Just 15% of Democrats supported the use of force to preserve the nation's values.

 

The poll took into account responsees from 1,753 registered voters.

 

The survey noted that Democrats and Republicans equally agreed on topics such as free and fair elections, free speech and peaceful protest.

 

Those results are also startling considering members of both sides of the aisle have defended violent actions from those with whom they agree.

 

Those survey questions were part of a larger survey about American attitudes and confidence toward elections in the wake of the results 2020 presidential election, which many Republicans have claimed without evidence were the result of fraud.

 

Danny Hayes, a George Washington University political science professor who co-directed the poll, said he worries that American voters have reached a point where they only trust the electoral system when their side wins.

 

'Most of the state and local officials who run our elections are long-time public servants whose goal is simply to help our democracy operate smoothly,' Hayes said.

 

'But if we've gotten to a place where voters trust the electoral system only when their side wins, then that undermines the idea of non-partisan election administration, which is essential for democracy.'

 

The results of the poll show that Democratic voters 'continue to have more faith in state and local elections than Republicans' but confidence in state and local election officials seems to vary on the voters' location and party affiliation.

 

Of the Democrats surveyed, 85% trusted local election officials and 76% trusted their state election officials. Those numbers were much lower among Republicans, with 63% trusting local officials and 44% trusting state officials.

 

The confidence of Republican voters in state election officials jumps to 70% if they lived in a state won by Trump in 2020.

 

'However, only 24% of Republicans living in states that Biden won have confidence in their state elections,' pollsters noted.

 

'Among Democrats there is a similar, though less pronounced, pattern with trust higher in Biden states than in Trump states.'

 

The poll found that 75% of Democratic voters were confident in regard to the integrity of the upcoming 2022 midterm elections. That number is down a single percentage point from the 2020 election, in which 76% of Democratic voters expressed confidence in the integrity of the election.

 

Just 28% of Republicans are confident in the integrity of the 2022 election, down 18 percentage points from the number of GOP voters, 46%, before the 2020 vote.

 

The poll also asked respondents to respond to the statement: 'It is hard to trust the results of elections when so many people will vote for anyone who offers a handout.'

 

The survey showed that 82% of Republicans agreed with the statement, while just 15% of Democrats agreed.

 

An overwhelming number of Americans, 69%, disapproved of the performance of Congress with 47.8% of Americans giving a 'very unfavorable' opinion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

 

Meanwhile, 40% of Americans gave 'very unfavorable' ratings to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer; 52.6% gave 'very unfavorable' ratings to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell; and 34.9% gave 'very unfavorable' ratings to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

 

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received a 40.9% 'very unfavorable' rating while Americans gave Marjorie Taylor Greene a 'very unfavorable' ratings pf 42.2%.

 

The poll, which was conducted in June, also questioned Americans on a range of other topics, including opinions of major politicians and views of if the country was headed in the right direction or not.

 

Of the 1,753 registered voters polled, only 38.2% said things were 'generally headed in the right direction' while a whopping 54.6% said things have gotten 'off on the wrong track.'

 

Meanwhile, 55% of Americans claim that the economy has either stayed the same or is getting better – which Politico has called 'Biden's very good, not great economy' after strong growth in 2021 as the country emerges from the coronavirus pandemic.

 

The poll shows Americans have given President Joe Biden middling ratings for his abilities to handle the pandemic and the economy – most likely along partisan lines.

 

Of those who responded to the survey, 56.% said they were either 'somewhat confident' or 'very confident' in Biden's handling the pandemic – while 46% gave him those same confidence ratings for the economy.

In a mind-mending experiment, scientists transformed purified water into metal for a few fleeting seconds, thus allowing the liquid to conduct electricity.

 

Unfiltered water can already conduct electricity β€” meaning negatively charged electrons can easily flow between its molecules β€” because unfiltered water contains salts, according to a statement about the new study. However, purified water contains only water molecules, whose outermost electrons remain bound to their designated atoms, and thus, they can't flow freely through the water.

 

Theoretically, if one applied enough pressure to pure water, the water molecules would squish together and their valence shells, the outermost ring of electrons surrounding each atom, would overlap. This would allow the electrons to flow freely between each molecule and would technically turn the water into a metal.

The problem is that, to squash water into this metallic state, one would need 15 million atmospheres of pressure (about 220 million psi), study author Pavel Jungwirth, a physical chemist at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, told Nature News & Comment. For this reason, geophysicists suspect that such water-turned-metal might exist in the cores of huge planets like Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus, according to Nature News.

 

But Jungwirth and his colleagues wondered whether they could turn water into metal through different means, without creating the ridiculous pressures found in Jupiter's core. They decided to use alkali metals, which include elements like sodium and potassium and hold only one electron in their valence shells. Alkali metals tend to "donate" this electron to other atoms when forming chemical bonds, because the "loss" of that lone electron makes the alkali metal more stable.

 

Alkali metals can explode when exposed to water, and Jungwirth and his colleagues have actually studied these dramatic reactions in the past, according to Cosmos Magazine. But they theorized that, if they could somehow avoid the explosion, they could borrow electrons from alkali metals and use those electrons to turn water metallic.

 

In their new experiment, described in a report published Wednesday (July 28) in the journal Nature, the team did just that. In the experiment, they placed a syringe filled with sodium and potassium in a vacuum chamber, squeezed out small droplets of the metals, which are liquid at room-temperature, and then exposed said metal droplets to a tiny amount of water vapor. The water formed a 0.000003 inch (0.1 micrometer) film over the surface of the metal droplets, and immediately, electrons from the metals began rushing into the water.

 

For the experiment to work, the electrons had to move faster than an explosive reaction could take place, Jungwirth told Nature News. And once the electrons zoomed from the alkali metals to the water, an incredible thing happened: For a few short moments, the water turned a shiny, golden yellow color. Using spectroscopy, the team was able to show that the bright yellow water was in fact metallic.

 

"Our study not only shows that metallic water can indeed be produced on Earth, but also characterizes the spectroscopic properties associated with its beautiful golden metallic luster," study author Robert Seidel, head of the Young Investigator Group at Humboldt University of Berlin, said in the statement. "You can see the phase transition to metallic water with the naked eye," he added.

 

"It was amazing, like [when] you discover a new element," Jungwirth told Nature News & Comment.

We describe the protein composition of the digestive fluids of the mygalomorph Acanthoscurria geniculata and the araneomorph Stegodyphus mimosarum, in comparison with previously published data on a third spider species. Eighty percent of the known species tackle the problem by the use of extra-oral digestion, EOD [1], where the major break down of prey tissues takes place outside the predators’ body. The use of an array of digestive enzymes facilitates the consumption of the prey by liquefying its tissues before ingesting it. Spiders are one of the prominent examples for this curious adaptation. Moreover, they have almost exclusively evolved the use of silk to trap and immobilise prey. While free hunting species attack their prey directly and may wrap it in silk afterwards, web building spiders also use their silk to construct prey traps. The extraordinary mechanical strength of that material effectively absorbs the energy of struggling prey [2, 3]. Finally, many spiders are equipped with potent and biochemically complex venoms [4], which they use to sedate and kill prey items before consumption. The combination of EOD, silk and venom use allows these predators to exploit a wide spectrum of insect prey that can be many times larger than the attacking spider [5, 6].

 

Once captured and secured, the relative size of some insect prey and the rigidity of their exoskeleton limits the use of mechanical comminution to extract prey nutrients. Consequently, the evolution of EOD is tightly linked with the evolution of silk and venom use, and EOD in particular can be regarded as an expression of an extended phenotype [7]. Studies focussing on the behavioural adaptations to different life styles in spiders, cursorial or web building, diurnal or nocturnal, attack wrapping or bite attacking (based on venom use), are numerous. The molecular background with respect to the proteins used for silk, venom and digestive fluids, however, is still understudied. Which role do the different molecular components play in the realisation of the strategies used by the spiders? While proteomic techniques have already been deployed to progress our understanding of the composition, function and synthesis of spider silk [3, 8,9,10,11] and venom [4, 10, 12,13,14], investigations on the components and functionality of spider digestive fluids have only begun very recently [15]. Yet, several aspects of the feeding ecology of spiders prompt fascinating questions concerning the biomolecular composition of these fluids that may help us to understand the evolution of EOD. First, spiders can fast for a long period of time, which requires the active proteins in digestive fluids to be synthesised rather quickly or be reasonable stable over longer times. Second, the use of enzymes outside the protective milieu of the spiders’ body requires the incorporation of assisting proteins that regulate the activity and decelerate the degradation of active components in the open or in the unpredictable environment inside the prey’s body. Third, enzymes in digestive fluids need to be very potent as only very small amounts are produced and released by the spider to quickly dissolve a potentially large amount of prey tissues [16]. Finally, the mode of digesting extra-orally may have a beneficial side effect as it allows spiders to defend themselves against infections before potential pathogens enter their body. It may therefore not surprise if immune proteins are found in digestive fluids [15].

So if it turns out that current covid vaxes DO contain high levels of GO, taking Choroquine or HCQ might be of considerable benefit.

This is essentially what the lady on Stew Peters show said. It is hard to know where that graphene oxide is collecting, or how long it lasts in the body. She predicted 6 month interval shots for them to keep the dosage at some desired level. She also thinks they probably don't know yet exactly how they will use it, because they were in a rush due to the compression of the time line.

 

Will learn a lot more in the coming weeks I think.

"The former β€œToday Show” co-host Matt Lauer is once again trying to change the channel on his Hamptons home. His compound in Sag Harbor, NY, has returned to market with a price of $43,995,000.

 

The property had been listed in June 2019 for $44.8 million, following the former anchor’s divorce from Annette Roque. But that price failed to attract a buyer. The waterfront abode came back on the market in the fall of 2019, with a slightly lowered asking price of $43.99 million.

 

Lauer, who was let go from the popular morning show in 2017 after accusations of sexual misconduct came to light, is once again trying to offload his estate without budging on the asking price. But with the hot Hamptons housing market, perhaps buyers will now give the spacious spread a second look.

 

If the spread sells for the asking price, the deal would leave Lauer with a small profit. In 2016, the-then married couple picked up the property for $36.5 million from the actor Richard Gere. The β€œPretty Woman” star had assembled three picturesque parcels over the years and created an enviable estate.

 

Gere had initially asked $65 million for the offering, but ultimately dropped the price to attract a buyer, the New York Post reported.

 

Set on 6.3 acres, the waterfront residence known as Strongheart Manor offers views over Peconic Bay and Mashomack Preserve, with 300 feet of direct bay frontage, a 240-foot-long private deep-water dock, a sandy beach, pond with bridge, island-inspired teahouse, and two guest cottages.

 

Although it’s a private and gated estate, the location is just minutes to downtown Sag Harbor."

 

With a total of 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, the offering includes a 6,552-square-foot main house. Built in 1902, the home has been totally renovated and restored, while maintaining its original character and charm.

 

The floor plan includes six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a screened-in porch that runs the length of the house.
