Rep. Matt Gaetz Won’t Be Criminally Charged In DOJ Sex Trafficking Probe

According to multiple reports, the Department of Justice has notified the lawyers of at least one witness that Republican Representative Matt Gaetz from Florida will not face charges after a federal sex-trafficking investigation that has lasted for years.

 

The decision not to prosecute Gaetz was made by the Department of Justice leadership, after investigators recommended against charges last year. Gaetz’s lawyers, Marc Mukasey and Isabelle Kirshner, stated that they had spoken with the DOJ and were informed that the investigation into Gaetz’s alleged sex trafficking and obstruction of justice has concluded, and no charges would be brought against him.

 

“We have just spoken with the DOJ and have been informed that they have concluded their investigation into Congressman Gaetz and allegations related to sex trafficking and obstruction of justice and they have determined not to bring any charges against him,” Gaetz’s lawyers Marc Mukasey and Isabelle Kirshner said in a statement.

 

Gaetz’s office issued a separate statement acknowledging that the investigation has ended, and no charges will be filed. The DOJ’s decision to not charge Gaetz, who has been a member of Congress since 2017, marks the end of a lengthy investigation into allegations that he violated federal law by paying for sex, including with minors.

 

Gaetz has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Bringing this forward from last thread. Not original poster but interested in hearing more thoughts on what the end game of a military FF of this nature might be beyond just testing the waters to see if Dewine/Shapiro would be willing to nuke the area creating a humanitarian and ecological holocaust in the process. What actionable steps could then be taken beyond lawsuits that would have an effect on the outcome of the movie we’re watching? Moar panic for the derp state, suppose. Meet Catholic Jesuit Journalist Bernhard Stempfle

Bernhard Stempfle (1882 in Munich – 1 July 1934) was a Roman Catholic priest and journalist.He helped Adolf Hitler in the writing of Mein Kampf.[1][2]He was murdered in the Night of the Long Knives.

Stempfle entered the priesthood in 1904. He joined the Hieronymite order (the Poor Hermits of Saint Jerome) in Italy. In the years leading up to the First World War, he wrote for the Corriere della Sera and various other German and Italian papers. Following the outbreak of war, he returned to Munich, performed pastoral work at the university, and established close contacts with Reform Catholic elements (i.e., elements that opposed political Catholicism, and politicians they regarded as too willing to make compromises with the Jews and "atheistic" socialists) in the city, especially the nationalistic Hofklerus at St. Kajetan. In 1919, he first began publishing in the Münchener Beobachter, where he wrote relentlessly on the destructive influence of Jewish atheism and on the moral acceptability and necessity of ruthless persecution of Jews, even as far as pogroms, pursued in defense of the faith and institutions of the Catholic Church, and the example provided throughout the years by anti-Semitic leaders within the hierarchy. By 1920, he was a leader of the secretive anti-republican Organisation Kanzler (Orka) and by 1923 he was the chief editor of the anti-Semitic daily Miesbacher Anzeiger and a leading journalistic figure within the broader volkish-anti-Semitic movement in Catholic Bavaria. He was also a regular confidant of Hitler.[3] In the same year he left the order because of its lack of members and order was dissolved. He no longer had priestly functions after that even though he was still called father. Vincent A. Lapomarda: The Jesuits and the Third Reich, 1989, page 36[clarification needed]

 

As an increasingly prominent Nazi figure, he was the target of Social Democratic satire and portrayed as the anti-Semitic bishop of Miesbach. He idealized Hitler and attacked the BVP, the Zentrum, and their alleged Jewish backers. According to Hitler's personal photographer Heinrich Hoffmann, Stempfle frequently visited Munich and was a member of Hitler's inner circle, joining Hitler "at his corner table at the Café Heck", and advising him on religious issues.[4]

 

Multiple authors and eyewitnesses, such as Konrad Heiden[5] and Nazi "apostate" Otto Strasser, report that not only did Stempfle correct the galley proofs of Mein Kampf, but that he indeed copy-edited certain passages. Historian and Hitler biographer Alan Bullock likewise discusses this.[6] (See the German version of this Wikipedia entry for more details.)

 

In 1934, he was imprisoned in Dachau concentration camp. In June, his body was found in the woods near Harlaching, several kilometers away. His death is attributed by some accounts to a broken neck and by others to shots in the heart "while trying to escape". There is disagreement also over the reasons for his murder. In some accounts, it is considered possible that he was regarded as having too much information about Hitler's past and personal life, and especially about the death of Hitler's niece, Geli Raubal. Other accounts hold that it was perhaps his attacks on Christian Weber, for immorality and running a brothel, that determined his fate.[7][8]

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) – As officials continue to try to lower the risks from a train derailment and fire in East Palestine, there are still questions as to what caused it.

 

In a press conference Sunday, the National Transportation Safety Board shared what it believes to be the cause.

 

“We have obtained two videos which show preliminary indications of mechanical issues on one of the railcar axles,” said National Transportation Safety Board member Michael Graham.

 

This is known as a hot box, which is a term used for when a wheel bearing overheats on a railcar. In this case, the overheating led to a fire which then led to the derailment.

 

Former State Rep Bob Hagan retired in 2021 after 50 years in the railroad industry. He says there are hot box detectors that alert conductors to stop the train.

 

“We have, now, technology that can interpret any time a wheel is hot through that, and it would go via the radio where the engineer would be running the train, the conductor of course would be sitting next to them,” Hagan said.

 

Graham says the train did drive through one of these detectors shortly before the derailment.

 

“The crew did receive a wayside defect detector, shortly before the derailment indicating a mechanical issue. Then an emergency break application was initiated,” Graham said.

 

However, the train was not able to stop in time. In a viewer video, you can see a wheel on fire as the train was still moving, just moments before it derailed.

 

Hagan says in his 50 years on the job, he only got about 10 hot box alerts in which he had to stop a train. He believes cutbacks on railroad jobs are partially to blame for situations like we’re seeing now in East Palestine.

 

“When I was working on the railroad, you would have 100 cars which would be about one mile, they’ve doubled those up, sometimes tripled those up. So now you have trains that are three miles long that are impossible to look out the back window when you’re going around a curve to see if anything is on fire,” Hagan said.

 

During the presser, Graham said the train was carrying 141 load cars, nine empty cars and three locomotives, which are used to pull the train.

 

NTSB is asking anyone with pictures or videos of the derailment to send them to witness@ntsb.gov.

'Ohio Chernobyl': East Palestine Town Hall Scrapped After Residents Report Health Problems

 

Nearly two weeks after a Norfolk Southern Railway freight train with 150 cars (20 of which were carrying hazardous materials) derailed in the small town of East Palestine, Ohio, resulting in a chemical disaster, the extent of the damage to the town and surrounding communities remains unclear.

 

On Tuesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine held a press conference for the Feb. 3 derailment. He said Norfolk Southern did not classify the train as a "high hazardous material train" despite multiple cars containing toxic chemical vinyl chloride.

 

"This is absurd … Congress needs to take a look at how these things are handled," DeWine said.

 

There's already an effort by lawmakers on Capitol Hill and federal agencies to investigate the derailment. Epoch Times noted:

 

Key committees in the Republican-controlled House are holding their peace as investigations of the derailment and its environmental impact proceed.

 

A spokesperson for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, led by Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.), said the committee was talking with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration, and the railroad involved, Norfolk Southern.

 

"We will continue to monitor the situation and NTSB's ongoing investigation," the spokesperson told The Epoch Times in a Feb. 14 email.

 

Investigators have uncovered security camera footage 20 miles before East Palestine of the suspected railcar that caused the derailment. Footage shows one of the cars was on fire well before the small town.

 

"NTSB investigators have identified and examined the rail car that initiated the derailment. Surveillance video from a residence showed what appears to be a wheel bearing in the final stage of overheat failure moments before the derailment," NTSB wrote on its website.

PARKLAND, FL – School district officials have confirmed that the Broward Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a phone call that was deemed “suspicious” and prompted Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to activate a “secure code” on Wednesday.

This is a very good idea and most counties have National Guard units that could be rapidly deployed to address these kinds of catastrophic situations. Think about it, every town has multiple dump trucks, plows, stone conveyor belts, etc… capable of carrying enough dirt to cover most of these situations. Air defense systems near Kiev allegedly detected and shot down as many as six air balloons believed to have been used by Russia, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military claimed during a televised appearance on Wednesday.

 

According to Yuri Ignat, the balloons, which were detected flying above the Ukrainian capital, may have been equipped with reconnaissance equipment meant to identify and exhaust Kiev’s air defense systems.

 

Kiev city officials also announced on their Telegram channel that the balloons, which appear to have been propelled by the wind, may have been carrying corner reflectors and other intelligence equipment. They noted that a final determination of the intended use of these devices would be made after a study of the remains of the downed objects.

 

While Moscow has yet to comment on the incident, Ignat told a Ukrainian TV channel that the balloons may be a new tactic deployed by Russia to preserve its stocks of reconnaissance drones.

 

"Reconnaissance drones like the Orlan-10 are now being used more sparingly, and so they thought 'Why don't we use these balloons?' So now they are using them," the official said.

 

Earlier on Wednesday, air raid sirens were triggered throughout the Kiev region after unidentified flying objects were detected above the city. A group of scientists with the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Language Project recently published a paper in the Trends in Ecology and Evolution journal recommending more "inclusive terminology in ecology and evolution" to combat the "ongoing marginalization of many groups."

The researchers claimed that the phrase "survival of the fittest" is also "harmful" because it is linked to "eugenics, ableism and social Darwinism."

 

The term "citizen science," which the researchers argued is "harmful to non-citizens," should be replaced with "participant science or community science."

 

"Discover" and "discovery" should be replaced with "identified" and "described" because the former "erases the longstanding, detailed ecological knowledge of Indigenous communities that have been involved with local environments and ecosystems before colonialism and western science."

 

"Much of western science is rooted in colonialism, white supremacy and patriarchy, and these power structures continue to permeate our scientific culture," the scientists argued. "Here, we discuss one crucial way to address this history and make EEB more inclusive for marginalized communities: our choice of scientific terminology."

 

Researchers involved in the project include academics from Harvard, Princeton, and the University of California.

 

"Our team of authors includes graduate students, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and assistant professors employed across historically white and minority-serving institutions in the USA and Canada, and several authors have personal ties to other countries," the group's journal stated.

 

The project's authors hold a "shared interest in calling attention to the power of language and the ways it can cause harm."

 

According to University of British Columbia assistant professor Dr. Kaitlyn Gaynor, the project started as a Twitter conversation among a few researchers discussing potentially harmful terminology.

 

"We reached out to different networks in ecology and evolution that were focused on increasing inclusion and equity in the field to rally support for one very specific action — revising terminology that might be harmful to certain people, particularly those from groups historically and currently excluded from science," Gaynor stated, according to a UBC press release.

After the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, news of sabotage on the railroad began to appear almost every day. On May 1, a bridge in the Kursk region designed for freight train traffic was destroyed in an act of sabotage.

According to the Insider, based on media reports alone,63 freight trains derailed in Russia from March to June 2022. It is almost one and a half times as many as in the same period last year. The geography of wagon derailments shifted to the west, and some of the trains were involved in accidents near military units.

 

According to Russian Railways and inspecting authorities, most of the accidents were related to the poor condition of the railroad tracks.

 

According to the Goszheldornadzor data for the 4 months of this year,55.3% of the train wrecks were caused by irregularities in the current state of the track, says partner.ru, the official publication of Russian Railways.

 

However, the authorities can't ignore the fact that some part of what happens on the railroads is sabotage. On February 24, the first day of the war, the Ministry of Transport ordered to increase the level of security on the railroads in the southern regions. In April, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine published a telegram in which the heads of certain railroad sections in the Rostov region and Krasnodar Krai were urged to cooperate with the FSB and the police to ensure security on railroad tracks.

 

However all those measures have so far had little effect: accidents continue to occur, particularly in the border regions. For example, on April 12, residents of the village of Titovka in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine woke up to an explosion. Literally within an hour Governor Gladkov tried to explain the situation. In the Shebekino urban district there was damage to the railroad tracks. There are no casualties or victims. Only the railroad track is destroyed. A task force is working at the site. I will report on the causes later. But the governor of Belgorod has yet to offer an explanation. The photographs from the scene show the railroad tracks bent upward, rusty rails and part of the bridge collapsed.

Railway sabotage attack foiled in Russia – TASS

 

Several suspects have reportedly been detained by the state security service at a railway station in the Urals.

 

The Federal Security Service has announced it foiled a sabotage attempt at a railway facility in the Chelyabinsk Region of Russia’s Urals, TASS news agency reported on Thursday, citing the FSB.

 

“The FSB … caught three men red-handed as they were trying to disable the traction substation at a station of the South Urals Railway. A can of gasoline, a gas cylinder, a burner, and other items were seized at the crime scene,” an FSB official told the news agency.

 

The incident was reportedly confirmed to TASS by the regional FSB press service. The allegiance or nationality of the suspects, however, was not immediately known. They have been placed in pre-trial custody for two months under a court order.

 

In recent weeks, the FSB has made several announcements of foiled terrorist and saboteur attacks, allegedly staged on behalf of Ukraine. In late December, two Russian nationals were killed by FSB operatives in the country’s south. The suspects were allegedly plotting a terrorist attack in Russia before seeking to travel to Ukraine to fight against the Russian military.

 

Shortly before the incident, the FSB said it had intercepted a group of Ukrainian saboteurs trying to cross into Russia. Four suspects, carrying assorted weapons and explosives, were killed by officers in a firefight.

'Sit up and listen': The largest LGBTIQ+ human rights conference ever to be held in Southern Hemisphere is about to come to Sydney

 

If there's one thing trans activist Ymania Brown wants people to take away from the upcoming WorldPride human rights conference next month, it's that LGBTIQ people "do not have the same rights" as other citizens.

The Brisbane-based humanitarian and proud Faa'fafine woman - who has spearheaded Pacific trans activism for some 20 years - says now is the time when the 70 countries that still criminalise same-sex relationships to "sit up and listen".

Brown, who will also speak at the conference, says it's of "global importance" that countries around the world "are on the same page" when it comes to gay rights, especially the 13 who still imprison and inflict corporal punishment on queer people.

 

'The cornerstone of pride' 

Brown tells 9news.com.au what the human rights conference hopes to achieve, why it's so important that events such as this are held on global scale and what exactly she wants people - queer or otherwise - to take away from the experience.

"It's the cornerstone of Pride festival," Brown said.

"Every WorldPride festival that's been hosted in different cities in the past has had one… it will bring together, community leaders to politicians to human rights experts from around the globe.

"We've been very careful to make sure that this is a global conference, and not just focusing on Australia, but the issues that are of global importance to us."

 

What makes this conference so unique, is the fact that it was designed by the community, rather than organisers, Brown explains.

"Generally, in the conferences that I've been involved in around the world, it's the organisers that decide what the content is," Brown said.

"This conference was actually designed by the community, the LGBTIQ community.

"We did a survey and the community told us what subjects and topics they want to see… it's really, really important."

It seems that theNetflix movie “White Noise”somehow eerily predicted the train derailment in Ohio earlier this month, as the fiery crash and fictional blockbuster share some of the same details.

 

East Palestine, Ohio, resident Ben Ratner, who also played an evacuee extra in “White Noise,” told People that the situation was “scary.”

 

“Talk about art imitating life,” the 37-year-old father-of-four told the outlet.

 

The 2022 film is set in a small town where Adam Driver’s character, Jack Gladney, is a Hitler studies professor. Husband to Babette, played by Greta Gerwig, he is forced to navigate his family through a toxic airborne event after a train derails mere miles away from their home.

 

“And you can just about drive yourself crazy thinking about how uncanny the similarities are between what’s happening now and in that movie,” Ratner said.

 

Created as fiction, the flick, based on the 1985 book of the same title, strikes haunting similarities to the East Palestine, Ohio, disaster that occurred less than two weeks ago.

 

On Feb. 3 about 50 miles from Pittsburgh, the small town of 4,700 people was shocked by the catastrophic derailment of a train carrying toxic materials.

 

Igniting in flames, the blazing train sent plumes of smoke into the air above the crash, and nearby residents were urged to evacuate their homes and flee.

 

The train was reportedly transporting vinyl chloride, phosgene and hydrogen chloride, among other chemicals.

 

The 50-car derailment burned for multiple days and posed an explosion threat early on, but the emergency has since been deescalated. Last week, evacuation orders were lifted, but reports of nearby animals falling ill and dropping dead still circulated.

Has anyone unlocked their doors yet? Did y'all wait until the sun came up, or are they still locked? I locked mine and a few hours later, I seen't some flashing lights, I thought it was the po going to the neighbors, but then my doorknob started to move. It looked like someone was trying to open it but couldn't and so it stopped and went away and they it looked like the lights lifted up into the sky. It was weird.

An Arkansas Republican lawmaker has come under fire for asking a transgender doctor an extremely personal question. Dr. Gwendolyn Herzig was testifying against a proposed bill that would allow minors who suffer ill-effects of pharmaceutical or surgical sex changes to hold their doctor liable when Sen. Matt McKee asked Herzig "do you have a penis?"

 

The Monday hearing was for Senate Bill 199, dubbed the Protecting Minors From Medical Malpractice Act of 2023, which would give people who underwent damaging hormone treatment and sex change surgeries as minors the ability to file a malpractice lawsuit for up to 30 years after they turn 18. Currently, Arkansas allows for such lawsuits only within two years of whatever "injury" the individual may have sustained.

Herzig, a Little Rock pharmacy owner who identifies as transgender, was highly offended when state Sen. Matt McKee asked about Herzig's genitals. Herzig's LinkedIn displays a focus on "LGBTQ+ care with an emphasis in transgender medicine."

 

"You said that you're a trans woman?" McKee asked. "Do you have a penis?"

 

In video footage from that moment, the audience can be heard gasping and jeering him.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign is examining ways to win over the mail-in vote after the Democrats' performance in the 2020 presidential and 2022 midterm elections. The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump's staff is examining state laws on absentee and mail-in voting, as well as ballot harvesting techniques.

 

Trump, who was famously critical of mail-in votes following the 2020 election, is changing his tune following comments by some GOP 2024 presidential hopefuls, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who have criticized the party for not capitalizing on opportunities in recent elections by focusing too much on Election Day turnout.

 

The change of heart can be observed in a Trump fundraising email released earlier this week which read, "The radical Democrats have used ballot harvesting to cancel out YOUR vote and walk away with elections that they NEVER should have won. But I’m doing something HUGE to fight back.”

 

He continued: “Our path forward is to MASTER the Democrats’ own game of harvesting ballots in every state we can. But that also means we need to start laying the foundation for victory RIGHT NOW.”

 

Trump told Breitbart News in December that the GOP has to "live with the system that stinks" but maintained that "a mail-in ballot will always be corrupt," and that Republicans need to look for ways to make elections more secure.

 

Other Republicans have noted that the GOP simply needs to use whatever tools available to win over voters and that the Republican National Committee is looking into the issue following the midterms last November.

 

Roughly 60 percent of Democrats voted by mail in 2020 compared to 30 percent of Republicans.

 

“We simply have to beat them at this,” said Arizona GOP candidate Blake Masters who lost in a close race this past November.

Microsoft's Bing AI Chatbot Starts Threatening People

 

Last week, Microsoft announced the new AI-powered Bing: a search interface that incorporates a language model powered chatbot that can run searches for you and summarize the results, plus do all of the other fun things that engines like GPT-3 and ChatGPT have been demonstrating over the past few months: the ability to generate poetry, and jokes, and do creative writing, and so much more.

 

This week, people have started gaining access to it via the waiting list. It’s increasingly looking like this may be one of the most hilariously inappropriate applications of AI that we’ve seen yet.

 

If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s what’s transpired so far.

 

The demo was full of errors

It started gaslighting people

It suffered an existential crisis

The prompt leaked

And then it started threatening people

The demo that introduced AI Bing to the world was really compelling: they showed shopping comparison, and trip itinerary planning, and financial statement summarization.

 

Then Dmitri Brereton did some fact checking against the examples from the demo.

 

It said that the cons of the “Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum” included a “short cord length of 16 feet”, when that vacuum has no cord at all—and that “it’s noisy enough to scare pets” when online reviews note that it’s really quiet.

 

It recommended a “rustic and charming” bar in Mexico City without noting that it’s also one of the oldest gay bars in Mexico City.

 

Best of all, it provided a summary of Gap’s financials and compared them to those of Lululemon… while entirely making up many of the figures. Dmitri observes that “Lululemon’s diluted earnings per share is $2.00 not $1.65.” These are not small mistakes!

 

The fact that these mistakes made it into the big launch demo is baffling to me. Did no-one think to fact check the examples in advance?

 

I absolutely love the idea of an AI-assisted search engine that can run searches and use them for summaries and to help answer my questions for me. But large language models have no concept of “truth”—they just know how to best complete a sentence in a way that’s statistically probable based on their inputs and training set. So they make things up, and then state them with extreme confidence.

 

A search engine that invents financial figures when answering queries to compare companies is pretty much a worst-case scenario for applying this technology.

Dianne Feinstein didn't seem to know what took place on the Senate floor Wednesday morning.

The retiring California Democrat asked staff for confirmation about a vote she had just attended.

The latest flash of apparent confusion comes as Feinstein plans to serve out her term through 2024.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein emerged from the Senate chamber on Wednesday seemingly confused about what she had done during a two-vote series.

 

"Did I vote for that?" Insider overheard the California Democrat ask her long-time chief of staff, David Grannis, about approving a judicial nominee to the federal bench.

 

Grannis, who had just finished explaining to his 89-year-old boss that the six Senate votes scheduled throughout the day would be on Biden appointees, shook his head and said, "No."

 

The most jarring part about the public episode was that Grannis was trying to map out what Feinstein — whose cognitive ability has increasingly come into question — needed to know about what was happening later, but she couldn't recall what had transpired minutes before.

Feinstein's latest stumble comes less than 24 hours after her staff announced that she wouldn't run for a seventh term in 2024.

 

Her looming retirement seemed to catch the decades-long politician off guard, causing Feinstein and her staff to clash over her career plans.

 

The last time Feinstein blew up at staff in Insider's presence, she was taking some junior aides to task for rushing her into a continuing resolution vote she appeared unprepared for.

 

"I don't even know what that is," Feinstein told staff last fall on her way through the Senate subway.

 

Feinstein aides did not immediately respond to a request for comment about why she would have been thrown by the judicial nominees' votes.

 

Several House Democratic lawmakers, including Reps. Katie Porter, Adam Schiff, and Barbara Lee, have already announced they're running or are reportedly preparing to mount a bid for her Senate seat.

The Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH), a private contractor hired by Norfolk 'Southern to test water, soil, and air quality in East Palestine, Ohio, has a history of minimizing the effects of environmental disasters to satisfy its corporate employers, according to critics.

 

While the Arkansas-based firm provides consulting services to various industries, it is known for performing toxicology monitoring for the oil and gas industry following health and safety incidents.

 

After a million gallons of oil spilled on a Louisiana town in 2005, after a flood of toxic coal ash smothered central Tennessee in 2008, and after defective Chinese drywall began plaguing Florida homeowners, CTEH was on the scene — saying everything was fine.

 

In each of these cases, the toxicology firm was alleged to be supplying the data its employers wanted while falsely assuring the public that they were safe from harm.

This story has been updated with one correction and to clarify some of the nature of past accusations made against the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health, as well as to incorporate responses from the company.

 

A crude oil spill during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A coal ash spill in Tennessee in 2008. The BP oil spill in 2010. In all three cases, the companies responsible for these environmental calamities turned to the same Arkansas-based consulting firm, the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health, to monitor air and water quality and workers’ chemical exposure.

 

And each time, CTEH was later accused of mishandling data collection. And companies used CTEH’s findings to reassure people that the spilled chemicals posed little risk to public health.

 

This week, a fire at International Terminals Company’s chemical storage facility outside Houston, blanketed the country’s fourth-largest city in a cloud of smoke. Multiple school districts in the area cancelled classes.

 

Once again, CTEH got the call to provide air quality monitoring.

 

The fire at ITC’s facility reignited late Friday afternoon after a dike wall used to contain chemicals partially collapsed, renewing concerns about air quality. According to initial reports, the company released 9 million pounds of pollutants in just the first day of the fire. On Thursday, the city of Deer Park, home to the facility, issued a shelter-in-place advisory after benzene levels spiked overnight. Long-term benzene exposure can cause anemia, lead to cancer, and damage women’s reproductive health.

Another deal involving the Biden crime family was reported today that has to date gone unnoticed. Another day another Biden crime family scandal involving millions for the Bidens.

 

Breitbart reported on a deal with the Saudis where Jim Biden was brought in and a secret $140 million settlement was negotiated:

 

James Biden secretly negotiated a $140 million settlement deal in 2012 between a U.S. company and the Saudi Arabian government due to his relationship with then-Vice President Joe Biden, court documents reveal.

 

The revelation represents one more instance of the Biden family business peddling influence while President Joe Biden was an elected official. House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-KY) reportedly already has copies of the court documents and is investigating the scandal as a part of his probe into the Biden family for nine violations, including wire fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering.

 

In 2011, upon the Saudi’s refusal to pay $140 million to a U.S. construction company Hill International, James Biden was brought in to negotiate the settlement deal between the U.S. company and the Saudi government because the Saudis “would not dare stiff the brother of the Vice-President who would be instrumental to the deal,” affidavits reported by the Daily Mail show.

 

Notably, James Biden had a prior business relationship with the U.S. company’s subsidiary as executive vice president with a minority stake.

 

Former U.S. Treasury official Thomas Sullivan, who was working to settle the deal as a private consultant, twice stated in an affidavit that James Biden was hired to negotiate with the Saudis “because of his position and relationship” with then-Vice President Biden. The business negotiation ultimately resulted in a $132 million settlement, court documents reveal.

 

“[James Biden] stated that he was often sent to meetings to represent Hill because ‘of course, the name didn’t hurt,’” court documents recount Sullivan’s written statement about a sit-down interview with James Biden.

 

In January, Breitbart reported on the Biden crime family’s crooked deals with China. The Biden crime family made $31 million from deals with China. This is the tip of the iceberg.

 

None of this comes as a surprise to Americans anymore. The Biden crime family was knee-deep in China. Hunter received $1 billion from China when Joe as VP right after Joe gave China easy access to US markets.

I mean, I sorta see what you’re saying, but a train derailment that leaves residents fearing for their health and safety for years, maybe decades to come is not just “a bit of psych” in my opinion. Every aspect of these peoples lives are being effected by this right now. Thinking specifically about that one motorcycle shop owner vid that was posted earlier. Those folks are having to spend hard earned money to live in an air bnb right now where they apparently weren’t even able to bring their pets. And they intend to move rather than return, which is exorbitantly expensive. Summary of Incident

On the morning of January 2, 2005, a report to the National Response Center indicated an explosion and fire has occurred at the Teris LLC facility in El Dorado, Arkansas. The initial explosion occurred at approximately 0800 hours.

 

The facility reported initially that an employee attempted to extinguish a small fire within a warehouse storing various waste containers, but that the fire soon grew out of control.

 

The cause of the accident is not addressed within this report.

 

Response organizations (El Dorado Fire and Police Departments, as well as the Union County Sheriff Department) quickly responded and established a unified command with the Teris personnel to establish a strategy and response procedures for dealing with the emergency.

 

Local responders closed nearby streets, as well as evacuating approximately 200 residents downwind from the facility.

 

EPA Region 6 dispatched its Airborne Spectral and Photographic Environmental Technology (ASPECT) plan to monitor the plume. Preliminary review of the data collected by ASPECT showed low concentrations of trimethylamine in the immediate downwind plume. No other significant compounds or concentrations were detected.

 

Fire fighting was conducted by Teris personnel on-site, with off-site assistance from the local response organizations.

 

Due to the reactive wastes involved in the fire, water was not used as an extinguishing agent. Efforts focused on cooling areas not involved in the fire, as well as movement of materials not involved.

 

By 1900 hours on January 2, local officials lifted part of the evacuation area. By 1600 hours on January 3, all evacuations and road closures were lifted.

 

On-going monitoring of the ambient air was conducted by the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH), who was contracted by Teris. Additionally, EPA START contractors monitoring throughout the community.

 

No significant concentrations of contaminants were detected during the air monitoring efforts. CTEH did detect elevated levels of particulate matter immediately adjacent to the scene.

 

Sampling was conducted by Teris, with EPA and Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) coordination, from fire suppression runoff. These samples were to be analyzed to determine proper disposal of this water runoff.

 

Additionally, wipe samples were collected by Teris (CTEH), in coordination with EPA, ADEQ, and Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) at 10 locations within the community.

 

Teris contracted with a remediation company (HEPACO) to relocate drums not involved in the fire, as well as remediation of the warehouse after the fire is extinguished.

 

EPA discontinued air monitoring and demobilized from the scene on January 6. Teris continued to work with local response officials, as well as ADEQ and ADH, on remediation efforts.

 

A review of the response was scheduled on conducted by EPA with State and local officials on

EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) – A Jan. 2 explosion and fire at a hazardous-waste storage site was probably a result of spontaneous ignition of a barrel of sodium chlorate that may have contained other materials that reacted with the chemical, according to a preliminary report.

The report released Tuesday was submitted earlier in the week to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

 

The fire prompted authorities to evacuate 2,500 people from the area around the Teris LLC hazardous-waste storage warehouse. No injuries were reported, however, and the evacuees were allowed to return to their homes and businesses a day later.

 

The report says waste materials shipped to Teris LLC in December from a New York rail yard contained more than just the soil and sodium chlorate _ a common herbicide and oxidizer _ that workers expected. The waste may have contained enough wood, creosote and fuel residue to react with the sodium chlorate to produce heat.

 

"From the initial investigation, it appears there was some foreign material in there that caused the reaction,'' Teris vice president Doug Riley said.

 

Barrels of the same material caught fire Jan. 12 after they were removed from the smoldering warehouse and stored temporarily in a trailer on the Teris grounds.

 

The Jan. 2 fire smoldered for days after firefighters chose not to fight it for fear that water would react dangerously with some of the stored chemicals.

 

The Teris facility, formerly operated by Ensco, disposes of hazardous wastes from industries and government operations. The plant receives spent solvents, waste oils, chlorinated hydrocarbons, herbicides and insecticides, as well as dirt, residues and contaminated water from cleanup activities from other sites.
