Barr, the Fed’s vice chair for supervision appointed by President Joe Biden, said in the exhaustive probe of the March 10 collapse of SVB that a myriad of factors coalesced to bring down what had been the nation’s 17th-largest bank.

 

Among them were bank executives who committed “textbook” failures in managing interest rate risk, Fed regulators who failed to understand the depth of SVB’s problems and then were too slow to react, and a social media frenzy that may have accelerated the institution’s demise. ″[T]he combination of social media, a highly networked and concentrated depositor base, and technology may have fundamentally changed the speed of bank runs,′ he said in the report. “Social media enabled depositors to instantly spread concerns about a bank run, and technology enabled immediate withdrawals of funding.” He used a broad brush in discussing the Fed’s failures, not mentioning San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly, under whose jurisdiction SVB sat. Senior Fed officials speaking on condition of anonymity said regional presidents aren’t generally responsible for direct supervision of the banks in their districts. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said he welcomed the Barr probe and its internal criticism of Fed actions during the crisis. “I agree with and support his recommendations to address our rules and supervisory practices, and I am confident they will lead to a stronger and more resilient banking system,” Powell said.

The letter is fascinating becauseit outlines how the process of moving documents from the White House was weaponized by a politically motivated National Archives and Records Administration(“NARA”), and the letter also gives fulsome context to the types of “classified materials” that have been insanely over emphasized by media.

The Turkish defense ministry confirmed the damage but without naming a culprit. "Light weapons were fired on our C-130 evacuation plane … Our plane landed safely. Although there are no injuries to our personnel, necessary repairs are being carried out on our aircraft," it said. The national army said the Rapid Support Forces of Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo mounted the attack on the plane as it was landing, but the RSF rejected the accusation as part of the national army "spreading lies".

Yen Drops (J10s Yields too) as BOJ Sticks With Stimulus at Ueda’s First Meeting

 

The yen fell and government bond futures reversed losses after the Bank of Japan said it would maintain its ultra-loose monetary policy but announced a review, in its first meeting under new governor Kazuo Ueda-(this is first meeting w/ new one in charge-same as the old boss Kuroda cap#1).

The BOJ will conduct a “broad-perspective review” of policy, with a planned time frame of around one to one-and-a-half years. It scrapped its guidance on future interest rate levels.

 

“This result certainly fits closer to what the market was expecting in terms of echoing patience and restraint,” said John Bromhead, strategist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. in Sydney. “With the possibility of a more hawkish Fed next week, I think we could see dollar-yen test 136 over coming sessions.”

 

Still, speculation is likely to persist that Ueda will revise yield-curve control in the coming months. The BOJ’s efforts to defend its 10-year yield cap through massive debt purchases have been distorting the bond market and rising inflation has raised concerns that super-easy policy is unsustainable.

 

“We still look for the removal of the YCC regime and an interest rate hike at some stage this year amid broadening inflationary pressures as well as from upward pressure on wage growth in Japan,” said Christopher Wong, an Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp FX strategist based in Singapore. “In the near term, dollar-yen may firm on Bank of Japan disappointment.”

Hunter Biden is believed to be hiding out at the White House while his baby mama goes on the warpath.

Lawyers for former stripper Lunden Roberts asked an Arkansas court Friday to jail the first son for failing to fork over his financial records as required in her lawsuit over support payments for their 4-year-old unacknowledged daughter, Navy.

Roberts claims Hunter, 53, is “flaunting the dignity and authority of the court” by failing to provide “one single item or word [of] discovery” and says, “This court should incarcerate the defendant in the Cleburne County Detention Center until he complies with this court’s orders.”

Roberts, 32, had to get a court-ordered paternity test to prove Navy was Hunter’s, and last year Hunter applied to have his monthly support payments reduced.

Tracking the first son

Ziegler is being sued by Hunter’s “sugar brother,” wealthy Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris, for alleged harassment and invasion of privacy.

Morris generously paid off Hunter’s $2.8 million IRS bill, which is part of a federal criminal investigation by the US attorney in Delaware, David Weiss, into the first son’s overseas business dealings.

Things were brought to a head last week when a career IRS criminal supervisory special agent who has been investigating Hunter for three years came forward with claims that federal prosecutors are preventing tax charges from being brought against the president’s son.

Last week Hunter joined his father on a state visit to Ireland.

Surrounded by his father’s Secret Service detail and protected by his own agents, it is difficult for a process server to get to him.

From early last year, an elaborate swing set suitable for a toddler was spotted on the White House grounds when the president ambled back to his office from Marine One.

There also may be other Biden family members shacked up in the White House on the taxpayer dime.

The New York Times reported in November, when Naomi Biden, 28, Hunter’s eldest daughter with ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, and husband Peter Neal were married on the South Lawn, that the couple “live at the White House, according to two people familiar with their living situation.”

The Executive Residence of the White House has 16 guest bedrooms and 35 bathrooms on the second and third floors, as well as a private guest kitchen. The family also can avail themselves of an in-house gym, bowling alley and private cinema.

There is plenty of room for the entire Biden clan, including the 12 immediate family members claimed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) this week to be profiting from foreign influence peddling.

Having perused hundreds of new financial documents, Comer on Sunday said there may be another three family members on top of the nine he identified last week, including Hunter, uncle Jim Biden and sister-in-law and former lover Hallie Biden.

Comer also foreshadowed an upcoming press conference on “six specific decisions Joe Biden made either as vice president or president that are very concerning to us that we believe could potentially lead back to payments that were … laundered down to the Biden family members.”

The SARs reports I reviewed showed countless LLCs made to launder the Biden family money from foreign counties. None of these businesses created any products or services. The only thing they sold was influence while Joe Biden was Vice President. So many more family members are implemented in this influence peddling than just Hunter Biden.

 

I even found evidence that the Biden Family was potentially participating in human trafficking by soliciting prostitutes from the United States and abroad in countries like Russia and Ukraine.

 

Now, Hunter Biden’s lawyers are attempting to shut down my clear legislative oversight of the executive branch. No amount of lawyers will be able to stop me from exposing the potential influence peddling, money laundering, and human trafficking done by the most corrupt family in American history at the expense of the American people.

Investigators discovered photos of nude children, estimated to be as young as 8, in an email account they said was associated with South Dakota billionaire T. Denny Sanford, according to previously sealed records released Thursday.

The records — which ProPublica had been fighting to make public for almost three years — shed light on the origins of the child pornography investigation into Sanford, a credit card magnate and philanthropist who has donated vast sums to children’s causes.

In 2020, ProPublica first reported that South Dakota authorities were investigating Sanford and had referred the matter to the U.S. Department of Justice. Last year, the South Dakota attorney general announced it closed its investigation without filing charges.

The status of a federal investigation into the matter remains unclear. A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment Thursday when asked whether the department’s inquiry remains open.

The investigation of Sanford started after AOL’s parent company sent a tip to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which passed it on to authorities in South Dakota, according to the new documentation. The center is a private nonprofit that operates a tip line where people and companies can report images of suspected child sex trafficking and abuse. The organization’s staff reviews the tips and refers them to law enforcement.

The material provided to the organization included 36 image files with child pornography in an AOL account that investigators linked to Sanford, according to the documents released Thursday.

Sanford’s attorney, Stacy Hegge, released a statement Thursday that said various other people had access to Sanford’s electronic devices and that prosecutors ultimately decided against filing criminal charges in the case. “Mr. Sanford appreciates that after a thorough investigation the authorities concluded there exists no prosecutable offense. Here, because there is no prosecutable case or further action to be taken, the court records being released contain only allegations. These preliminary allegations were provided to law enforcement prior to law enforcement’s exhaustive investigation and its realization that various individuals had documented access to the electronic devices at issue, including signs of hacking. While some claim releasing affidavits that reiterate these allegations constitute transparency, releasing preliminary allegations made prior to completing the full investigation only misinforms people and obscures the investigation’s conclusions that no prosecutable offense occurred.”

New disclosures from Pfizer, posted by Fang on his Substack, show that many of these same groups were taking money from Pfizer while they promoted the idea that the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines were “safe and effective,” despite a lack of scientific data to back those claims.
