I feel like there is a lot of misunderstanding on what's going on with Crowdstrike.

As I understand it - a patch was pushed onto the systems that use it with a bad .sys file or something. Once this sys file is removed, everything is fine. It's not an attack (persay).

The problem comes into play when a system needs to update to be fixed but cant. A lot of these employees do not have administrator access to be able to safeboot and remove the .sys file. Thus each computer needs to be reset manually.

Following the 9/11 attacks, in December 2001, U.S. forces launched a mission in the cave complex of Tora Bora, Afghanistan to find bin Laden and other senior al-Qaeda members. According to media sources, ul-Haq, who was serving as leader of the Black Guard at the time, reportedly helped bin Laden and other senior al-Qaeda leaders flee the battle of Tora Bora to safely relocate to Pakistan. The Black Guard were specially selected al-Qaeda members who took a blood oath to defend bin Laden to their death. The members, who had personal ties to bin Laden, were selected by the al-Qaeda leader himself.

 

Following renewed fighting at Tora Bora between al-Qaeda and U.S.-led troops in the summer of 2007, ul-Haq was allegedly wounded before fleeing back into Pakistan’s Kurram tribal agency. Ul-Haq was detained by Pakistani security forces in Lahore in 2008 for his connection to al-Qaeda, and was reportedly released in 2011 after Pakistani officials claimed his connections to al-Qaeda “could not be proved” and that he was in poor health. Following ul-Haq’s release, he virtually disappeared from the public eye.

 

On August 6, 2021, the Taliban began an offensive against major Afghan cities with the seizure of Zaranj, capital of Nimruz province. By August 13, the Taliban controlled 17 of Afghanistan’s 34 provincial capitals and more than two-thirds of the country. On August 15, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan and thousands of Afghans poured into Kabul’s airport as Taliban fighters entered the city. By August 16, the Taliban laid siege to the presidential palace and took complete control of Kabul, after which the Taliban declared the war in Afghanistan had ended. The Taliban has claimed that it would take on a more “moderate” approach in their ruling of the country, and that women are allowed to have roles in public life in observance of “Islamic law.”

 

On August 30, 2021, ul-Haq arrived in Afghanistan after being virtually untraceable for the past decade. Ul-Haq was captured on video in a large convoy as it traveled through a checkpoint in Nangarhar province. Media sources reported a small crowd of Taliban members surrounded ul-Haq’s vehicle to shake his hand and take photos with him.

 

According to media sources, hundreds of fighters are under ul-Haq’s command. Those fighters allegedly harassed Afghans attempting to flee Kabul following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Although the Taliban regularly denies association with al-Qaeda, U.N. reports have claimed the groups are “closely aligned.”

After the debate, the assassination attempt, and his subsequent promise to unify the country, I thought he was on a rocket ship straight to the oval office. Unfortunately, however, what Trump promised is not what we got (starting to notice a pattern here?). Last night’s speech was the same old Trump, spewing divisive rhetoric and lying about his accomplishments. After last night, I’m confident Joe Biden, or whomever the Democrats decide to run, will win November in a historic landslide, and take the senate and house with them. Russian tech infrastructure has not been affected by the global Windows 10 outage, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media has reported. The crisis illustrates the importance of becoming self-sufficient in terms of critical software, the ministry has stressed.

 

Windows 10 users around the world, including airports, banks and broadcasters, suffered serious failures on Friday, triggered by a recent update of the web/cloud-based CrowdStrike antivirus platform. According to the Russian ministry’s press office, “so far, there have been no reports of crashes at Russian airports,” as quoted by TASS.

The Russian government resolved to lessen the country’s dependence on foreign technologies and goods in 2014, after Western nations imposed sanctions on Moscow over Crimea. The BBC, citing aviation analytics firm Cirium, claimed that more than 1,000 flights have been canceled globally due to the outage, with the figure expected to rise. The Irish carrier Ryanair as well as Turkish Airlines have said they are experiencing problems with ticketing, check-in, and reservation processes.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper took a swipe at MSNBC’s controversial move to cover the Republican National Convention remotely — using big LED screens behind its anchors to make it appear as if they were broadcasting from the event.

From the convention floor in Milwaukee Thursday night, Tapper introduced Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who told the CNN panel: “Thank you guys, and you’re actually here live.”

“We’re live as opposed to some other networks that just have a big LED, who shall remain nameless,” Tapper said, taking a thinly veiled jab at MSNBC.

This week, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and the left-leaning cable network’s other top anchors have used a giant video screen to show the four-day convention as a backdrop — while hosting the coverage from their Manhattan headquarters.

While MSNBC did deploy some reporters to the convention floor, the network’s panel of hosts did not travel to Milwaukee and instead broadcast their commentary in front of a screen of showing the audience at the RNC, giving viewers at home the impression that they were live on location.

Several news outlets criticized MSNBC for making it appear as if the hosts such as Maddow, Jen Psaki and Joy Reid, were at the convention and accused the network of misleading viewers.

In an article titled on Wednesday, “Is Maddow in Milwaukee? No, That’s an LED Screen on MSNBC,” The New York Times wrote that “MSNBC’s decision to place its Manhattan-based anchors in front of a live feed of the convention floor created some odd, and arguably misleading, moments.”

“If news organizations don’t represent where they are clearly, then how is the audience to have faith and confidence in the actual content of the reporting?” media veteran and former CNN Washington Bureau Chief Frank Sesno told the outlet.

“It can feel like a frivolous thing — oh, well, gee, we’re just using the pictures behind them — but there’s something profoundly important here,” he added.

A rep for MSNBC rejected suggestions that the remote set was misleading to viewers, explaining that “at the top of every broadcast, hosts identify themselves as being in New York or at MSNBC headquarters.

MSNBC — which has faced internal turmoil after network brass sidelined “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski in the wake of the failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump — announced last week that it would have a limited on-the-ground presence in Milwaukee.

MSNBC only sent anchors Stephanie Ruhle, host of the 11 p.m. nightly show “The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle,” and Katy Tur, the daytime host of “Katy Tur Reports,” to the convention at Fiserv Forum.

CrowdStrike Windows Outage—What Happened And What To Do Next

A CrowdStrike update is breaking computers running Windows, causing them to crash and display the blue screen of death. Across industries, companies around the world haven’t been able to reboot, according to reports. Firms affected by the outage include Sky News, which has been unable to broadcast.

 

Concerned users have taken to forums such as Reddit to report the issue, with one user saying: “Wow, stuck in a boot loop, and entire org taken out.”

 

So if you got into work this morning and were met by, frankly, carnage, know that you are not alone. Here’s what happened and what to do next.

What Happened

 

As you might have gathered, an issue with CrowdStrike cybersecurity software is causing the widespread global issue. Engineers at the company said they are working on the issue, which affects its Falcon Sensor product. CrowdStrike calls Falcon “the CrowdStrike platform purpose-built to stop breaches via a unified set of cloud-delivered technologies that prevent all types of attacks—including malware and much more.”

 

The IT outage has affected airports, businesses and broadcasters, according to the Sky News website. Planes have been grounded in the U.S., trains in the U.K. are impacted, as well as boarding scanners at Edinburgh airport in Scotland.

 

Microsoft said it is taking “mitigation actions” after service issues itsaid started at about 6 p.m. Eastern Time. The company says it is investigating issues with cloud services in the U.S. and “an issue impacting several of its apps and services,” Sky News reported.

 

“We're aware of an issue affecting Windows devices due to an update from a third-party software platform,” a Microsoft spokesperson said, adding: “We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming.”

 

While initial reports focused on a dodgy update, a user named Brody, who is director of CrowdStrike Overwatch, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it is “a faulty channel file, so not quite an update.”

 

There is a workaround, he added.

 

  1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or WRE.

 

  1. Go to C:WindowsSystem32driversCrowdStrike

 

  1. Locate and delete file matching "C-00000291*.sys"

 

  1. Boot normally.

 

At 5:45 a.m. ET, CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz posted on X, confirming the issue is not a cyberattack and was caused by a botched update.

 

“CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. Question: How did his parents psychologically trained not send him to a facilty a long time ago. Just because they reported him a few hours before, they had to know he was nuts a violent.

 

The guy threatened to shoot up his school in 10th grade. The kid that reported that said the group of friends he hung out with were the same as him. If that’s true, did he plan it with others? And were the other shooters friends of his?

BETHEL PARK, Pa. –

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old would-be assassin who opened fire on former President Donald Trump's Pennsylvania campaign rally Saturday, hid the weapon in advance, according to a Secret Service source.

 

It was not immediately clear where he hid it, however. By the time agents spotted him on the roof, he was already holding it.

 

"We went from golf range finder to AR-15, and now we have to fill in the gap," the source told Fox News.

 

When authorities first observed Crooks carrying a golf range finder Saturday, he was perceived as a "person of interest" but not a "threat," authorities said Thursday.

 

Range finders were not banned from rally events at the time, but authorities are expected to review the list of items that are not allowed.

 

He did not become an official threat until he was seen with a weapon.

 

There were four counter-sniper teams stationed around the rally, according to the Secret Service – two from the agency and two provided by local law enforcement.

Authorities approach the suspected gunman from where he fell after the Secret Service returned fire after an apparent assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Of the four teams, two opened fire, one local and one from the Service. A federal sharpshooter fatally struck the gunman seconds after the gunfire erupted.

Crooks struck at least four people with AR-15 fire from the rooftop, killing a 50-year-old father of two named Corey Comperatore and seriously wounding David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74.

 

Authorities have spent much of the week pointing fingers about who was responsible for securing the AGR building, from where Crooks opened fire.
