Russian President Vladimir Putin is the most popular leader in the world, American journalist Tucker Carlson has claimed, in an interview with RTVI US.

Outside of Western Europe, Canada, and the “Anglo-sphere,” it is almost impossible to meet someone who doesn’t like Putin, Carlson told the network.

US First Lady Melania Trump “likes” Russian President Vladimir Putin, but is disappointed over the continuation of the Ukraine conflict, President Donald Trump has said. Moscow is willing to negotiate but has maintained that any talks must address the root causes of the conflict.

Since assuming office this year, Trump has said he respects both Russia and Putin and wants to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict. In recent weeks, however, he has increasingly expressed frustration over a lack of progress in the peace process and has threatened Moscow with more sanctions.

In Tuesday’s episode of Pod Force One, the US president said: “We know Putin and she [Melania] likes him,” adding that he “got along with him very well.”

However, Trump noted that shortly after his recent conversation with the Russian president, Melania had commented it was “too bad they just bombed Kiev.”

On Tuesday, Trump cut his 50-day deadline for Moscow and Kiev to reach a peace deal to just 10 days, warning of sweeping sanctions targeting Russia's trading partners if no agreement is reached. Russian officials have rejected the US president's ultimatums.

Earlier this month, The Times published a report suggesting that Melania Trump’s role in shaping her husband’s decisions could be underestimated. While Trump has insisted that his wife simply wants to see an end to the bloodshed, the outlet pointed to her influence as a possible factor behind his shifting stance on the Ukraine conflict.

Melania, 55, was born in Soviet-era Slovenia – now a staunch supporter of Kiev, the outlet pointed out, adding that her deep interest in the conflict reflects that background.

US lawmaker Don Bacon echoed that view in an interview this month, saying the first lady could deserve credit for Trump’s apparent turn against Russia.

“His position on Ukraine has clearly evolved,” Bacon said, noting that he wouldn’t be surprised if Melania played a “quiet but important part in that.”

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright cancels his upcoming six-day visit to Israel after Energy Minister Eli Cohen refuses to sign off on a massive gas export agreement recently agreed upon between Jerusalem and Cairo, Cohen’s office says.

In August, Israel’s Leviathan field signed a $35 billion to export natural gas to Egypt, the largest export agreement in Israel’s history.

But Cohen’s office says he won’t approve the deal until “fair prices are agreed upon for the Israeli market,” adding that the Trump administration applied significant pressure on Cohen and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to approve the deal.

The US energy giant Chevron, which operates the gas field, also has been pressing Israel to ratify the deal, reports Israel Hayom.

Cohen “demanded that the prices for the Israeli market will remain attractive,” according to his office. “Since the negotiations have yet to be completed, Cohen refused to approve the export until the issue is solved.”

It is exceedingly rare for a minister to publicize his role in shaking up Israel’s relationship with any US administration. The statement from Cohen’s office was especially notable in creating friction with US President Donald Trump’s White House while US officials are working with Israel to advance Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

The gas deal in its current form is expected to funnel hundreds of millions of shekels in revenues from gas royalties and taxes to the country’s state coffers.

The deal was announced as growing domestic energy needs have sparked heated discussions over natural gas exports. Earlier this year, the Finance Ministry warned that Israel is poised to face a natural gas shortage in the next 25 years as domestic energy needs are growing faster than forecast and gas export sales are robust. A shortfall would lead to higher electricity prices for consumers.

Natural gas from Leviathan, one of the world’s largest deep-water gas discoveries, started to flow to the Israeli domestic market in December 2019. The partners in the Leviathan reservoir began exporting natural gas to Egypt in January 2020 after signing a deal for 60 billion cubic meters, which is expected to be supplied by the early 2030s. To date, Leviathan has supplied 23.5 billion cubic meters of gas to the Egyptian market.

“At the same time, efforts are underway to sort out the diplomatic aspects between Israel and Egypt,” says Cohen’s office.

WASHINGTON — First lady Melania Trump said Friday that she has been working with Russian President Vladimir Putin on reuniting Ukrainian children who were believed to be kidnapped into Russia during the war.

Speaking from the White House, she referred to a letter sent to Putin in August regarding children affected by the war, and said that he wrote back "signaling a willingness to engage with me directly."

“President Putin and I have had an open channel of communication regarding the welfare of these children," the first lady said. "For the past three months, both sides have participated in several back-channel meetings and calls, all in good faith. My representative has been working directly with President Putin’s team to ensure the safe reunification of children with their families between Russia and Ukraine."

Trump said that in the last 24 hours, eight children were reunified with their families.

“Three were separated from their parents and displaced to the Russian Federation because of front-line fighting," she said. "The other five were separated from family members across borders because of the conflict, including one young girl who has now been reunited from Ukraine to Russia.”

She said that she has also raised concerns about Ukrainians who were minors at the time they were displaced during the conflict, but have since become adults while living in Russia. "Given the dangers of traversing this war-torn region, their safe return requires coordinated assistance," she said. "Accordingly, Russia has agreed to rejoin the individuals who have turned 18 within a short period of time. Again, this remains an ongoing effort. Plans are already underway to reunify more children in the immediate future."

NBC News reached out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office for comment.

Russia has taken thousands of Ukrainian children since it invaded Ukraine and started the war in February 2022. Zelenskyy has brought the issue to the attention of Trump administration officials and President Donald Trump himself.

Zelenskyy estimated in June that more than 200,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia or territories it controls since the war began more than three years ago. Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, has estimated that around700,000 children have been displaced since Russia's 2014 invasion of Crimea.

Research recently published by the Yale School of Public Health Humanitarian Research Lab said that Ukrainian children have been taken to more than 200 facilities across Russia, where they are given "re-education" courses focused on Russian patriotism or forced to participate in military training.

The first lady hasn't had as much of a public-facing role as in her husband's first term, and it's unusual for first ladies to get involved in foreign affairs. But when it comes to foreign policy, her spokesman Nicholas Clemens told NBC News: “The First Lady’s impact on her husband’s decision-making process is unparalleled. She possesses an unmatched level of influence compared to any adviser or cabinet member. Mrs. Trump can discreetly influence policy in a manner that is rarely observed by the public due to her singular position.”

Last month, she met with Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly after Trump had hand-delivered his wife's letter about children to Putin. A few days later, Zelenskyy brought a letter from his wife for Trump to deliver to Melania Trump, thanking her for writing to Putin.

Melania Trump and Zelenska discussed the plight of children affected by the war in Ukraine, after the American first lady launched an initiative focused on working with spouses of heads of state on the well-being of young people around the world, Zelenskyy said.

Melania Trump was “pleased” to meet with Zelenska, according to a spokesman for the first lady, and appreciates that “they have a shared vision — advancing the development of children.”

“It’s become routine,” one Israeli official said. “Hamas violates the deal, Israel threatens retaliation, and then Washington blocks it.”

Jeffrey Epstein’s newly-revealed private calendar showed scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president and attorney who served in the Obama administration, according to a report published Sunday.

New documents, which belonged to the rich convicted pedophile and were obtained by The Wall Street Journal, showed planned meetings with a slew of prominent individuals, including now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky.

All the scheduled meetings were slated to take place after Epstein was jailed in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting a minor. WSJ could not prove each scheduled meeting actually took place, and the documents did not reveal the purpose for the meetings.

A spokesperson for Burns, who has taken the CIA’s helm since 2021 under the Biden administration, said the nation’s spy chief met with Epstein a decade ago when he was trying to leave the government.

"Director Burns recalls being introduced by a mutual friend in Washington, DC, and then met with him once briefly in New York City, about a decade ago as the Director was preparing to leave government service," CIA spokeswoman Tammy Kupperman Thorp said in comment provided to Fox News Digital.

"The Director did not know anything about him, other than he was introduced as an expert in the financial services sector and offered general advice on transition to the private sector. The Director does not recall any further contact, including receiving a ride to the airport. They had no relationship."

Ruemmler had dozens of meetings with Epstein following her work for the Obama administration and before taking the reins as Goldman Sachs' top lawyer in 2020, according to WSJ. The documents show Epstein was planning on Ruemmler joining him for a trip to Paris in 2015 and another visit to his private island in the Caribbean in 2017.

A Goldman Sachs rep told the outlet that Ruemmler had a working relationship with Epstein when she was employed at law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, but did not travel with Epstein. The spokesperson said Epstein introduced Ruemmler to potential legal clients, such as Bill Gates.

"Many of Ms. Ruemmler's contacts related to a potential representation involving the Gates Foundation, a representation of the Edmond de Rothschild bank, and other business opportunities," a Goldman Sachs spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

"I regret ever knowing Jeffrey Epstein," Ruemmler said, according to WSJ.

The Journal reported that the majority of people they spoke to said they met with Epstein for donations or to make powerful connections. Botstein, who has served as Bard College’s president since 1975, said he met with Epstein to try to get him to donate to the liberal arts school.

"I was an unsuccessful fundraiser and actually the object of a little bit of sadism on his part in dangling philanthropic support," Botstein told the outlet. "That was my relationship with him."

Other prominent figures on the documents included:

Ariane de Rothschild, chief executive of the Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild Group; Joshua Cooper Ramo, who at the time served on the boards of Starbucks Corp. and FedEx Corp; former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak; Harvard University professor Martin Nowak; and anthropologist Helen Fisher.

A 60-second spot opens voices from ordinary Americans expressing frustration with the news environment, including one who says, “I turned off news altogether,” and another who says, “It’s all bull-s–.” As one voice says, “I’m looking for some facts first,” the images of NBC personalities appear, including Craig Melvin, Savannah Guthrie, Richard Engel, Kristen Welker and Tom Llamas.

“If we got clear facts, maybe we can calm down a little,” one voice says. The spot ends with the slogan “Facts. Clarity. Calm” and “Reporting for America.”

Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, wrote in a memo to employees, “Over the past few months, we’ve been listening closely to Americans, and what we’ve heard is clear. People are not disinterested in news. Rather, they are hungry for civil discourse and trustworthy reporting that can empower them to make up their own minds. Exactly what NBC News stands for. ”

The TV spots will air nationally, during NFL games and on connected TV and streaming platforms. Print and digital will include a homepage “takeover” of The New York Times, The New Yorker, Apple News, Yahoo and Vanity Fair. Majority Leader John Thune, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, are doing a GREAT job, but the Democrats are Crazed Lunatics that have lost all sense of WISDOM and REALITY. It is a sick form of the now “legendary” Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that only comes from losing too much. They want Trillions of Dollars to be taken from our Healthcare System and given to others, who are not deserving — People who have come into our Country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions. This will hurt American citizens, and Republicans will not let it happen. It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option — Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW! It was a Great Honor to meet them but, more particularly, to see that America is respected again — RESPECTED LIKE NEVER BEFORE! Great Trade Deals were made, Long Term relationships now exist, and money is pouring into our Country because of Tariffs and, frankly, the Landslide Results of the 2024 Presidential Election. The one question that kept coming up, however, was how did the Democrats SHUT DOWN the United States of America, and why did the powerful Republicans allow them to do it? The fact is, in flying back, I thought a great deal about that question, WHY?

Majority Leader John Thune, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, are doing a GREAT job, but the Democrats are Crazed Lunatics that have lost all sense of WISDOM and REALITY. It is a sick form of the now “legendary” Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that only comes from losing too much. They want Trillions of Dollars to be taken from our Healthcare System and given to others, who are not deserving — People who have come into our Country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions. This will hurt American citizens, and Republicans will not let it happen. It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option — Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW! Just a short while ago, the Democrats, while in power, fought for three years to do this, but were unable to pull it off because of Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. Never have the Democrats fought so hard to do something because they knew the tremendous strength that terminating the Filibuster would give them. They want to substantially expand (PACK!) the United States Supreme Court, make Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico States (Thereby automatically picking up 4 Senate seats, many House seats, and at least 8 Electoral Votes!), and many other highly destructive things. Well, now WE are in power, and if we did what we should be doing, it would IMMEDIATELY end this ridiculous, Country destroying “SHUT DOWN.” If the Democrats ever came back into power, which would be made easier for them if the Republicans are not using the Great Strength and Policies made available to us by ending the Filibuster, the Democrats will exercise their rights, and it will be done in the first day they take office, regardless of whether or not we do it. In addition to all of the other things we would get, such as the best Judges, the best U.S. Attorneys, the best of everything, this was a concept from years ago of then President Barack Hussein Obama and former Majority Leader Harry Reid in order to take advantage of the Republicans. Hamas told by mediators to withdraw fighters from IDF-controlled Gaza by tonight or face Israeli fire

Egyptian and Qatari mediators notified Hamas on Wednesday night that the group had 24 hours to evacuate its fighters from the Israeli-controlled eastern half of Gaza or risk being exposed to IDF fire, a US official tells The Times of Israel.

That deadline expired at 8 p.m. local time this evening, at which point Israel has the approval of the US, Egypt and Qatar to engage Hamas targets on the Israeli side of the Yellow Line that divides it from the half of Gaza under the terror group’s de facto rule, the US official says.

The statement notably leaves out Turkey, another mediator of the Gaza ceasefire. Ankara has been one of Israel’s most vocal critics on the global stage and may not have wanted to be tied to a statement giving Jerusalem a green-light to carry out attacks on Hamas.

The US official does not elaborate on how the Hamas fighters wound up on the Israeli side of the Yellow Line.

A source familiar with the matter tells The Times of Israel that the demarcation has not been fully enforced to date and that it is not always clear to troops on the ground where the line runs in various parts of Gaza, given that it was only drawn up several weeks ago for the deal.

Israel already publicly warned Hamas operatives holed up on the eastern side of the Yellow Line to withdraw last week.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said on October 20 that he instructed the IDF to convey this warning to Hamas via the US-led international monitoring mechanism overseeing the ceasefire in Gaza.

The military has assessed that there are Hamas operatives still in the terror group’s tunnels in areas under IDF control, and that they have been there since before the ceasefire.

Two deadly attacks have been carried out by terror operatives against troops in the Rafah area amid the ceasefire. Hamas has claimed that it was not responsible for the attacks because “communication has been cut off” with its operatives in the zones under Israeli control.

Disgraced ex-Kiama MP Gareth Ward sentenced for sexually abusing two young men

Former New South Wales Liberal minister and independent Kiama MP Gareth Ward has been sentenced to five years and nine months in jail for sexually abusing two young men.

In July Ward was found guilty of sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of indecent assault.

The 44-year-old appeared via audiovisual link from a Hunter correctional facility as Judge Kara Shead handed down the sentence in the Parramatta District Court.

Ward's offending was against a 24-year-old political staffer in 2015 and an 18-year-old man in 2013.

Mexico's president has spoken out against the new American policy of destroying suspected drug boats with airstrikes, calling for more cooperation between the two nations on addressing the perennial problem of narco-trafficking.

"We do not agree with these interventions and we have a model, a protocol that has yielded many results," Sheinbaum said Wednesday.

She told Telemundo that she instructed Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente to summon the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, and try to improve the coordination protocol for drug interdictions. Mexico has a longstanding relationship with the U.S. Coast Guard-led Joint Interagency Task Force - South (JIATFS), which handled interdictions in U.S. Southern Command for decades - but these responsibilities are now handled by II Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp LeJeune, using lethal methods. The program has killed 61 people to date, including Colombian, Trinidadian and Venezuelan nationals; three people have been rescued alive.

The initiative has drawn strong objections from Venezuela and Colombia. Questions about its constitutionality have been raised by legal scholars, the Trump administration's political opponents, and elements of the Pentagon's own legal corps, centering around whether the president can use lethal force against unidentified suspects in international waters (without prior Congressional authorization).
