The Law
1 Corinthians 9
19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I
became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under
the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might
gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I
might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
Galatians 3
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and
it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21 Is the law then
against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should
have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to
them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come,
we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have
been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male
nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the
promise.
Matthew 5
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you,
Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore
shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mark 12
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him,
Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God
is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy
strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none
other commandment greater than these. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and
there is none other but he: 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all
the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34 And when Jesus saw that he
answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
Luke 20
45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and
love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows' houses,
and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
