Bret Easton Ellis tells 'spoiled children' liberals to deal with Trump: 'He was elected president. Get over it.'

Now middle-aged, the enfant terrible novelist Bret Easton Ellis, has turned to nonfiction to mock the "childlike fascism" and "demented narcissism" of American liberals that helped put President Trump in the White House and left them facing "mental and emotional collapse."

For good measure, Ellis, 55, also denounces the "legacy media" in his new book "White" — originally due to be called "White Privileged Male" — describing it as "a moral disaster for the country" that had covered Trump in the 2016 with such bias and "absolute cluelessness" that it assisted him. The Washington Examiner obtained a copy in advance of its publication Tuesday.

He places Trump's 2016 victory and what he sees as the Left's continued refusal to accept his legitimacy squarely in the context of millennials — those who reached adulthood around the start of the 21st century. He brands them"Generation Wuss" and laments their "oversensitivity, their sense of entitlement, their insistence they were always right despite sometimes overwhelming proof to the contrary, their joint tendencies of overreaction and passive-aggressive possibility."

This, he argues, has been fostered by "overprotective, helicopter moms and dads mapping their every move" while "smothering their kids and not teaching them how to deal with life's hardships … people might not like you, this person will not love you back, kids are really cruel, work sucks, it's hard to be good at something, your days will be made up of failure and disappointment, you're not talented, people suffer, people grow older, people die."

Ruling by AG Barr May Keep Tens of Thousands of Migrants Waiting in Detention Indefinitely

A new ruling by Attorney General Bill Barr could keep tens of thousands of migrants seeking asylum waiting in detention indefinitely.

Under US law, the Attorney General has the right to overturn rulings by immigration judges and Bill Barr did just that.

Barr weighed in on an immigration case on Tuesday and said that asylum seekers who are awaiting removal and are not given a right to see a judge, should not be released into the US on bond.

Asylum seekers who used to be released into the US on bond while awaiting a decision from a judge on their immigration case will now be kept in detention centers indefinitely where they could be waiting for years for.

NBC News reported:

“This ruling gives [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] the legal authority to detain all of these people indefinitely,” said Sarah Pierce, a policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute, an immigration think tank. “That’s if they have the capacity. So I think the actual effect of this ruling will be severely limited by ICE’s capacity.”

Due to the limited capacity, Barr said his decision should go into effect in 90 days in order to give ICE time to build bed space.

The decision is expected to affect a broad swath of immigrants coming to the southwest border to claim asylum. Immigrants who enter the U.S. without documents, or with documents suspected to be fraudulent, are placed into expedited removal before they have an interview with U.S. asylum officers at which they try to establish they have credible fear for their safety if they return to their home countries.

Barr’s decision reversed an immigration judge’s decision to release an immigrant on bond while waiting for his proceedings. He also said that the Board of Immigration Appeals, a panel that reviews immigration court decisions, “wrongly decided” that only immigrants who enter the U.S. through legal ports of entry should be detained while others could be released on bond.

As a result of the decision, thousands of asylum seekers will remain in ICE detention while they await a decision in their case. Families with children under 18, however, will not be affected because of a federal court decision that prevents minors from being held longer than 20 days.

The crisis at the US-Mexico border is the worst this country has ever seen.

Multiple caravans originating in the Honduras with tens of thousands of military-aged male migrants have marched through Mexico northbound to the US border seeking asylum.

In March alone, over 100,000 illegals were detained by US Border Patrol agents.

In February, the President declared a national emergency to secure funding to build a border wall, however, the dangerous “catch and release” asylum policies are allowing illegals to be released into US communities.

Bill Barr said during his confirmation hearings that he would be tough on illegal immigration and it looks like he’s stepping up to the plate.

If it had only been a singular incident involving a Catholic church in France the burning of one of the most well known human monuments to all of Christianity could be understandably classified as an unfortunate accident during recent renovation work. Given that more than a thousand French churches across the country have been vandalized in recent years, though, more and more French (and others) are wondering if the Notre Dame fire wasn’t something far more sinister. Just released video of what appears to be someone moving inside the cathedral followed by a flash of light allegedly right before the fire started will do nothing to lessen those suspicions. If this was an act of vandalism and not an accident then hopefully the perpetrator(s) will soon be caught and brought to justice.

It’s Hillary Clinton, of course – Frank Report identifies presidential candidate DOJ claims Nxivm illegally supported

One of the gems of information contained in Document 414 , that notable filing by prosecution, wherein they ask the judge to rule on admissibility of a raft of crimes and misdemeanors that that racketeering enterprise known as Nxivm allegedly engaged in, but were not charged for, is the following, and is found on page 24 of the document.

It alleges an illegal scheme to support a certain candidate for president of the USA.

While the prosecution does not name the candidate Nxivm allegedly illegally supported, Frank Report will identify her: She is Hillary Rodham Clinton.

i. Facts

At trial, the government intends to introduce witness testimony and documents demonstrating that in 2007, the defendants and their co-conspirators were involved in an illegal scheme to exceed contribution limits to a presidential primary campaign.

Witness testimony, corroborated by documentary evidence, will demonstrate that at least 14 members of the Nxivm community, including at least five defendants and co-conspirators made the maximum campaign donation to a primary campaign with the understanding that they would be reimbursed by [Clare] Bronfman or Nancy Salzman.

At the suggestion of a political operative, who has since pleaded guilty to an unrelated New York state bribery charge also involving campaign contributions, the contributions were “bundled” and presented to the candidate at a fundraising event attended by conspirators, including Nancy Salzman.

A cooperating witness who attended the event will testify that the defendants and their co-conspirators made the contributions in hopes of obtaining political influence to advance their own agenda, including targeting perceived enemies of Raniere. The government will also seek to introduce evidence of similar conduit contributions to other elected officials, as well as use of other political lobbyists in attempts to gain influence.

ii. Admissibility The defendants’ and co-conspirators’ involvement in the conduit contribution scheme and related acts described above, is direct evidence of the charged racketeering conspiracy. Their work together to commit crimes as part of a coordinated effort to curry political favor, evidenced in part by the records of maximum contributions by members of Nxivm on the same day, demonstrates the relationship of trust among the defendants and coconspirators, which is proof of the Enterprise’s existence.

… The same evidence also demonstrates the nature of the criminal relationships between the defendants, which defendants are attempting to portray as a purely legitimate association. The evidence of the conduit contributions is also direct evidence of the existence of the Enterprise and the pattern of racketeering activity because it is probative of the defendant and co-conspirators’ “us[e of] harassment, coercion and abusive litigation to intimidate and attack perceived enemies and critics of RANIERE,” (Indictment ¶ 6(f)).

Specifically, the bundled campaign contributions were part of an attempt to curry favor with a presidential nominee to advance the goals of the defendants and co-conspirators, including by obtaining indictments against enemies and gaining advantages in litigation.

UN has sounded the alarm on Monday night about children in Yemen, reporting that thousands have been killed in the Saudi-and-UAE-led war in neighbouring Yemen.

The UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba said that more than 7,500 children have been killed in the war.

"The figures for verified grave violations against children in Yemen during that period are staggering: more than 3,000 children were verified as recruited and used, more than 7,500 children were killed and maimed and over 800 cases of denial of humanitarian access to children were documented," said the UN official.

Gamba said the data was collated from April 2013 to the end of 2018, warning that many sexual assaults on children may have gone under-reported due the difficulty of obtaining information.

CINCINNATI – Federal prosecutors charged 60 physicians and pharmacists Wednesday with illegally handing out opioid prescriptions in what they say is the biggest crackdown of its kind in U.S. history.

Some of the doctors are accused of trading drugs for sex, giving prescriptions to Facebook friends without proper medical exams and unnecessarily pulling teeth to justify writing pain pill prescriptions.

The list of indicted medical professionals includes podiatrists, orthopedic specialists, dentists, general practitioners and nurse practitioners.

Prosecutors said the specialties and methods varied among the accused, but the result in every case was the same: People addicted to pain medication received dangerous amounts of opioids, including oxycodone, methadone and morphine.

They said the illegal prescriptions put as many as 32 million pain pills in the hands of patients.

60 doctors, other prescribers face federal charges in biggest pain-pill bust in a five-state region including Ohio and Kentucky.

A special strike force from the U.S. Department of Justice, began making arrests early Wednesday, primarily in rural areas across Appalachia, which has been especially hard hit by addiction to heroin and pain medication.

The names of many of the accused were not immediately available because they had not yet been arrested.

Most of the defendants face charges of unlawful distribution of controlled substances involving prescription opioids. Authorities say they gave out about 350,000 improper prescriptions in Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Prosecutors described the doctors involved as drug dealers, rather than medical professionals, and said they were seeing a total of about 28,000 patients at the time of their arrests.

"If so-called medical professionals are going to behave like drug dealers, we're going to treat them like drug dealers," said Brian Benczkowski, an assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice.

The defendants are accused of writing or filling prescriptions outside the course of medical practices and prescribing them despite having no legitimate medical reasons to do so, he said.

Strike force a first-of-its-kind effort

The Appalachian Regional Prescription Strike Force included more than 300 investigators from jurisdictions in all five states. Though targeting illegal prescriptions was a priority, federal officials say it wasn't the only goal.

In a first-of-its-kind effort, the federal criminal investigators are linking with public health to try to guide those who received the rogue prescriptions to addiction treatment, said Benjamin Glassman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.

Glassman said authorities recognize that closing clinics and arresting those who ran them won't solve the addiction problems of the patients who received the prescriptions. to help, he said, a public health official will be stationed at every clinic affected by the arrests.

The hope is "when these facilities are taken down, there are resources in place to give the best possible chance for those victims to get proper treatment," Glassman said.

How the strike force worked the investigation

The strike force, which was created to attack the opioid epidemic late in 2018, worked a two-part investigation.

First, it used data analytics including prescription data monitoring programs from the states and Medicaid billing to identify potential offenders. Then it followed up with traditional, boots-on-the-ground law enforcement to zero in on suspects.

"We wanted to move quickly," Benczkowski said. The investigation went from January to Wednesday.

Federal prosecutors said illegal prescriptions are especially devastating to rural communities, where patients often have limited options when seeking medical help. If the doctor those patients see is peddling illegal prescriptions, prosecutors said, the damage to small towns can be dramatic.

The arrests Wednesday removed many doctors who "are simply white-coated drug dealers," said J. Douglas Overbey, U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Prosecutors said a physician in Dayton, Ohio, collected $5,000 a month in rent from a pharmacy located in his office, which provided pills after he signed prescriptions. They said another doctor in Alabama charged patients a "concierge fee" of between $50 and $600 per visit.

Several doctors are accused of signing blank prescriptions and leaving them for their office staff to fill out when they were unavailable or out of town.

Unnecessary treatments, teeth pulled for pills

The arrests included a doctor in Kentucky who is accused of signing off on prescriptions via Facebook, without ever seeing the patients. Other doctors are accused of handing out pills directly for cash payments, including to pregnant women.

The defendant list includes 31 doctors, 22 other licensed medical professionals and seven others who are owners, operators or clinic employees, Benczkowski said.

Thousands of people would have received the illicit prescriptions. "It's enough pills for every man, woman and child to get one dose across the five states," he said.

Some people were given treatments they did not need in order to get the prescriptions filled. He mentioned a dentist who is accused of unnecessarily pulling a patient's teeth.

The range of schemes included sending patients across state borders to see another general practitioner, writing prescriptions at different intervals rather than the originally prescribed number of days, and having patients fill prescriptions at different pharmacies.

The Appalachian region has been hard hit by the opioid epidemic. West Virginia was first, CDC data show. Ohio was second in the nation for overall overdose deaths.

"Opioid misuse and abuse is an insidious epidemic," said John Martin, assistant administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. "Unfortunately, Appalachia is at the center of it.

Prescription opioid overdose deaths in Ohio dropped 28% since 2001 even as the synthetic fentanyl took over and overall overdose deaths kept rising. Yet prescription opioids remain critical, Glassman said. About 80% of people who use heroin first misused prescription opioids, according to National Institute on Drug Abuse statistics.

Last year, as part of a nationwide healthcare fraud enforcement action, federal officials announced charges against 162 people for suspected roles in prescribing and distributing opioids and other narcotics.

Doctors at two Hamilton, Ohio, medical clinics that prosecutors called “pill mills” were among those charged.

At one of the clinics, Cincinnati Centers for Pain Relief, officials said patients were often prescribed fentanyl, oxycodone, morphine and other highly addictive drugs without being seen by a doctor.

Across America, almost 218,000 people died from overdoses related to prescription opioids from 1999 to 2017, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Overdose deaths involving prescription opioids were five times higher in 2017 than in 1999.

A fire broke out at the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem just as flames ravaged the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Kushner says Middle East peace plan won't be released before June

The Trump administration's proposal for achieving peace in the Middle East won't be released until June at the earliest, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner told ambassadors on Wednesday.

Reuters reported that Kushner urged ambassadors to remain open to compromise ahead of the plan's release, which has been touted since early in Trump's presidency. Kushner is spearheading the peace initiative with special envoy Jason Greenblatt, who confirmed the Reuters report in a tweet.

The June release would come after the conclusion of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which ends early in the month, and would allow recently reelected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form a governing coalition.

Netanyahu secured a record-setting fifth term earlier this month. President Trump said at the time he believed his ally's victory increased the chances for a Mideast peace deal.

Kushner discussed the proposal Wednesday with roughly 100 ambassadors from around the world at Blair House, which is located across the street from the White House. He reportedly encouraged attendees to keep an open mind, but did not disclose whether the plan would call for the creation of a Palestinian state.

Reuters reported that Kushner disputed the peace plan would focus mostly on an economic package to aid Palestinians, insisting that it would contain a "very detailed" political component.

The Trump administration has promised since its early days to deliver a groundbreaking proposal to ensure peace between Israelis, Palestinians and other stakeholders in the Middle East. However, officials have revealed few specifics about the plan or when it might be made public.

While traders continue to obsess over daily "China trade deal optimism" headlines, Japan's central bank is quietly nationalizing its entire market.

The last time we looked at how much of the stock market the Bank of Japan controls, we found that Kuroda's central bank owned a stunning 75% of all Japanese ETFs as the central bank keeps buying stocks under its ultraloose monetary policy. Perhaps more importantly, as of March 2018, the Japanese central bank has also become a major shareholder in nearly 40% of listed companies. According to Nikkei calculations at the time, the bank was one of the top 10 shareholders in 1,446 listed companies out of 3,735

Fast forward to today, when according to the latest BOJ holdings update following even more ETF purchases, the BOJ held over 28 trillion yen ($250 billion) in ETFs as at the end of March, or 4.7% of the total market capitalization of the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. This, of course, in addition to the BOJ's trillions in Japanese JGB holdings, which at last check were over 100% of GDP and 43% of all outstanding.

It gets better. According to the latestNikkei calculations, not only has the BOJ also become the top shareholder in 23 companies, including Nidec, Fanuc and Omron, through its ETF holdings, but as of Q1, it was among the top 10 holders for 49.7% of all Tokyo-listed enterprises.

In other words, the BOJ has gone from being a Top 10 holder in 40% Japanese stocks last March, to 50% just one year later.

But wait, there's more: as the Nikkei further calculates, the Bank of Japan will overtake a state-run pension fund - the world's largest - as the top shareholder in Tokyo-listed companies as early as 2020, even as concerns rise regarding the central bank's outsize role in the nation's capital market. Assuming that the bank maintains its current target of 6 trillion yen (just over $53BN at prevailing rates) in new purchases a year, its holdings would expand to about 40 trillion yen by the end of November 2020. This would place it above the Government Pension Investment Fund's TSE first-section holdings of more than 6%.

There are even more serious considerations as the BOJ bravely pursue its goal of nationalizing the entire stock market: a drop in share prices, which would squeeze the central bank's capital, could also erode confidence in the yen. "If the Nikkei Stock Average falls below about 18,000, the market value of the ETF holdings would fall below their book value," according to Deputy Gov. Masayoshi Amamiya. What that would mean for the BOJ's balance sheet is unclear, but the bank would counter that it could just print more money at that point.

What is most shocking, however, is that there are allegedly reputable and respected economists, who look at this absolutely insane Ponzi arrangement - which is straight out of 1960s USSR - in which money printed out of thin air is used to lift stock prices, and find nothing wrong with it.
