Rockets Hit Baghdad Airport And Green Zone, Despite U.S. C-RAM Deployment

 

On the evening of July 5th, a Katyusha rocket was fired at the Baghdad International Airport, near where American troops and diplomats are housed.

 

The strike happened just hours after the US reportedly shot down a Katyusha rocket that was launched at the same location.

 

Reportedly there were no injuries and no damages, but this is the 7th such rocket launched towards the airport in less than 30 days.

The C-RAM shot down a Katyusha rocket for the first time since it was deployed to Iraq’s capital city on the morning of July 5th.

 

C-RAM is the land-based version of the CWIS [close-in weapons system] which U.S. warships have used for decades.

As alleged in the complaint, in 2016, Mosley was convicted in Connecticut Superior Court of possession of child pornography in the second degree. It is further alleged that, on January 28, 2020, Connecticut parole officers and Connecticut state troopers conducted a home visit at Mosley’s residence. During the visit, Mosley was found in possession of an unapproved smart phone, and an approved mobile phone that contained suspected child pornography. Investigators seized both phones and Mosley was remanded to custody. Subsequent analysis of the seized phones and a cloud storage account maintained by Mosley revealed thousands of images and hundreds of video depicting the sexual abuse of children, primarily boys between the ages of 2 and 14. In addition, analysis of Mosley’s e-mail account revealed that he sent numerous e-mails soliciting child pornography, sent images of child pornography to others, and sent links to his cloud storage account.

 

The criminal complaint charges Mosley with receipt of child pornography and solicitation of child pornography, offenses that carry a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years. Mosley is also charged with possession of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years. The penalties in this case are enhanced based on Mosley’s alleged criminal history.

 

U.S. Attorney Durham stressed that a criminal complaint is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

 

This matter is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Connecticut State Police, with the assistance of the Connecticut Department of Correction Division of Parole and Community Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J. Gentile and Law Student Intern Nelson Barrette.

7 Arrested, Face Federal Charges In Rioting At Portland Courthouse

 

PORTLAND, Ore.β€”Seven people have been arrested and face federal charges for their roles in weekend riots at the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse in Portland.

 

According to court documents, since May 26, 2020, protests in downtown Portland have regularly been followed by nightly criminal activity including assaults on law enforcement officers, destruction of property, looting, arson, and vandalism.

 

Rowan Olsen, 19, of Portland, is charged with disorderly conduct, creating a hazard on federal property, and failing to obey a lawful order; Shant Singh Ahuja, 28, of Oceanside, California, is charged with destruction of federal property; and Andrew Steven Faulkner, 24, of Beaverton, Oregon; Gretchen Margaret Blank, 29, of Seattle, Washington; Christopher Fellini, 31, of Portland; Cody Porter, 28, of Portland; and Taimane Jame Teo, 24, of Eugene, Oregon, are charged with assaulting federal officers.

 

The Hatfield Federal Courthouse has been a repeated target of vandalism, sustaining extensive damage. U.S. Marshals Service deputies and officers from the Federal Protective Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection working to protect the courthouse have been subjected to threats; aerial fireworks including mortars; high intensity lasers targeting officers’ eyes; thrown rocks, bottles, and balloons filled with paint from demonstrators while performing their duties.

 

On July 2-3, 2020, Olsen is accused of using his body to push on and hold a glass door at the Hatfield Courthouse closed, preventing officers from exiting the building and causing the door to shatter. With the door broken, a mortar firework entered the courthouse, detonating near the officers. The officers used shields and their bodies to block the open doorway for approximately six hours until demonstrators dispersed.

 

On July 4, 2020, Ahuja is accused of willfully destroying a closed-circuit video camera mounted on the exterior of the Hatfield Courthouse.

 

On July 5, 2020, Blank is accused of assaulting a federal officer with a shield while the officer was attempting to arrest another protestor.

 

On July 5-6, 2020, Faulkner, Fellini, Porter, and Teo are accused of assaulting federal officers with high intensity lasers. At the time of his arrest, Faulkner also possessed a sheathed machete.

The Florida Springs Council (FSC), a consortium of 35 citizens groups representing over 125,000 Floridians, was formed in 2015 to promote springs restoration. FSC members have driven the back roads to inspect Gates’s purchases. Agricultural operations on these properties are not state-of-the-art, but more intensive versions of what was practiced by prior owners. We have seen crops planted to the edges of county roads and next to sinkholes. We have seen healthy forests cleared and replaced by intensive animal operations and row-cropping over the most vulnerable portions of the Floridan Aquifer, source of our springs and our drinking water.

For a year, FSC has repeatedly asked Gates’s representatives to begin a discussion of advanced agricultural practices that could be utilized on their properties. Given his philanthropic focus, we hoped that Mr. Gates or the Gates Foundation would be eager to embrace creative methods for reducing agriculture’s impact on Florida’s natural environment. We have yet to receive a response.

 

FSC does not challenge Lakeland Sands’ right to farm, but we do believe that opportunities exist for innovative practices that could lessen impacts on our precious rivers and springs. We stand ready to begin a discussion with Mr. Gates’ representatives on restoring health to North Florida’s troubled waters.

Man Who Did 6 Years In Prison For Child Porn Arrested Again For Same Offense

 

Robert Mosley , 53, of Bridgeport, has been charged by federal criminal complaint with child pornography offenses.

 

Mosley, who has been detained in state custody on a parole violation since January 28, 2020, appeared today before U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel via video conference.

 

As alleged in the complaint, in 2016, Mosley was convicted in Connecticut Superior Court of possession of child pornography in the second degree. He was sentenced for that offense to 10 years in jail, execution suspended after six years, and 20 years of probation. Mosley was released on parole in November 2018.

 

It is further alleged that, on January 28, 2020, Connecticut parole officers and Connecticut state troopers conducted a home visit at Mosley’s residence. During the visit, Mosley was found in possession of an unapproved smart phone, and an approved mobile phone that contained suspected child pornography. Investigators seized both phones and Mosley was remanded to custody. Subsequent analysis of the seized phones and a cloud storage account maintained by Mosley revealed thousands of images and hundreds of video depicting the sexual abuse of children, primarily boys between the ages of 2 and 14. In addition, analysis of Mosley’s e-mail account revealed that he sent numerous e-mails soliciting child pornography, sent images of child pornography to others, and sent links to his cloud storage account.

 

The criminal complaint charges Mosley with receipt of child pornography and solicitation of child pornography, offenses that carry a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years. Mosley is also charged with possession of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years. The penalties in this case are enhanced based on Mosley’s alleged criminal history.

Economic Relief for Billionaires, Crooks of Every Description

 

A centerpiece of US President Donald Trump’s economic relief program was under renewed scrutiny Tuesday following revelations it aided white-shoe lobbying firms and businesses linked to Kanye West and other billionaires.

 

Besides West’s Yeezy brand and law firms connected to famed trial lawyer David Boies and Trump defense attorney Marc Kasowitz, recipients of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans included the PF Chang’s restaurant chain and businesses linked to several members of Congress, according to US media reports.

 

The controversy is the latest to befall the PPP, which was launched in April as a key job-saving program in the immediate wake of coronavirus shutdowns that shuttered countless businesses and led to tens of millions of layoffs.

 

The program provides forgivable loans to coronavirus-impacted small businesses to cover employee salaries and some expenses.

 

Architects of the program at the US Treasury Department and Small Business Administration emphasized the need to make money immediately available to embattled companies.

 

That led to heavy criticism after large, publicly traded firms such as Ruth’s Chris steakhouse snagged loans from the program, which had been pitched as a savior for mom-and-pop businesses.

 

The Treasury Department subsequently tightened the rules to exclude larger companies with access to funds from public markets.

 

The Trump administration defended the program Monday as it released identifying data on firms accounting for about 75 percent of the more than $520 billion lent so far. The administration had resisted releasing the information, but relented following bipartisan calls for transparency.

 

β€œThe PPP is providing much-needed relief to millions of American small businesses, supporting more than 51 million jobs and over 80 percent of all small business employees, who are the drivers of economic growth in our country,” US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.

But the latest revelations seem certain to amplify questions about how the program has been administered.

 

The recipients include the Church of Scientology, various businesses connected to the family of Jared Kushner, a White House advisor and the husband of First Daughter Ivanka Trump, and Foremost Group, a shipping business owned by the family of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, according to reports in US media.

 

Also receiving funds were several entities that rent space in buildings belonging to the Trump Organization, as well as a company whose investors include the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who leads the Democratic opposition to Trump in Congress.

New data show that between $350,000 and $1 million flowed from the Paycheck Protection Program, a federal program created to help small businesses cope with the economic downturn caused by coronavirus, to Middle Seat Consulting, a Washington, D.C.-based digital firm that provides services to far-left Democrats. Just 13.5 percent of companies received more than $150,000 from the PPP program, putting Middle Seat among the upper echelon of recipients.

 

The liberal consulting firm applied for and took the loan despite already receiving large sums from Ocasio-Cortez's campaign, King's Real Justice PAC, and other liberal groups. Middle Seat has raised more than $9 million from other left-wing committees this election cycle. King's Real Justice PAC, which works to elect far-left district attorney candidates, has provided more than $270,000 to the group. During the 2018 cycle, Real Justice paid another $354,000 to Middle Seat, which was cofounded by one of the PAC's original leaders.

 

Justice Democrats, the progressive group that propelled Ocasio-Cortez into office, has also paid Middle Seat six-figure sums. Justice Democrats PAC has paid Middle Seat $540,000 this election cycle for digital advertising and fundraising consulting. The group was started by another Middle Seat cofounder, Zack Exley, among others.

 

Middle Seat was created by former members of Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I., Vt.) 2016 presidential campaign to back efforts dealing with "racial justice, climate action, immigrant rights, intersectional feminism, economic justice, and more."

An Oregon politician admitted that he wrote himself a racist letter after claiming he received it from an anonymous person, according to Hermiston Police.

Jonathan Lopez, who was a Umatilla County commissioner candidate, claimed on social media that he received a letter in his mailbox. The letter was filled β€œwith derogatory and racist terms,” KEPR-TV News previously reported.

A criminal investigation for second-degree intimidation was launched and closed after police deemed the incident to be fake, Chief Jason Edmiston said according to KEPR-TV News. Lopez admitted that he faked the letter verbally and in a written admission, according to police.

If the picture of Chinese β€˜malign influence’ in the US is as dire as FBI Director Chris Wray painted it, the two nations ought to be at war. Yet Wray doesn’t advise that, suggesting it’s all just Russiagate-like fear-mongering.

 

β€œChina is engaged in a whole-of-state effort to become the world’s only superpower by any means necessary,” Wray argued on Tuesday, speaking at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute in Washington, DC.

 

In addition to being able to execute its malign influence projects with β€œauthoritarian efficiency,” China is β€œcalculating, they’re persistent, they’re patient and they’re not subject to the righteous constraints of an open, democratic society or the rule of law,” Wray argued.

 

Dire words, to be sure, especially when followed by a vivid description of alleged economic espionage, seeking to steal US technology and trade secrets. There has been a 1,300 percent increase in economic espionage cases involving China over the past decade, Wray said, listing half a dozen examples of scholars or scientists who had allegedly sold secrets to Beijing as part of a β€˜Thousand Talents’ government program.

 

β€œWe’ve now reached the point where the FBI is opening a new China-related counterintelligence case about every 10 hours. Of the nearly 5,000 active FBI counterintelligence cases currently underway across the country, almost half are related to China,” he added.

 

The US needs to respond with an β€œall tools, all sectors” approach, going above and beyond the FBI, Wray argued, saying that China will β€œcontinue to try to misappropriate our ideas, influence our policymakers, manipulate our public opinion and steal our data.”

 

Note that this grim picture far exceeds anything the US media and intelligence operatives have accused Russia of over the past four years, resulting in a massive deterioration of US-Russian relations to Cold War levels.

 

This dovetails with the hostility toward Beijing routinely displayed by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who recently compared China to the Nazis and even argued that NATO should redefine its mission into a crusade against the Chinese Communist Party. Pompeo has also pushed Europe to sever trade ties with China.

The state of Washington is planning on reopening its schools for face-to-face instruction in the fall but will prioritize β€œstudents furthest from educational justice” if all students aren’t able to come back at once.

These students include β€œstudents with disabilities, students with 504 plans, English learners, students who are migratory, students experiencing homelessness, students who are in foster care, students of color, students experiencing poverty and students who were not equitably served through continuous remote learning in spring 2020.”

According to the guidelines, these students were impacted the most by the loss of in-person learning.

The guidelines also ask the districts to β€œattend to students who fit into one or more of these identified populations and then integrate supports.”

A Frequently Asked Questions document associated with the reopening guidelines said that β€œstudents furthest from educational justice and those who require in-person services to fulfill their basic education needs should be districts’ highest priority.”

The school districts do not expect to be able to accommodate all students due to new health and safety requirements.

This process is the reason for states.

Banks With β€˜Shattered’ Business Models Warned by Japan to Adapt

 

Japan’s financial regulator is running out of patience with regional banks that are struggling to adapt to an increasingly grim business environment.

 

The Financial Services Agency has targeted some local lenders for β€œintensive dialogue,” which could lead to regulatory action if they fail to convince it of their viability, Commissioner Toshihide Endo said. He hinted at the need for management changes at banks that don’t change their strategies. β€œThere has been no innovation,” Endo, 61, said in an interview in Tokyo. The old practice of making money by simply taking deposits and lending them out at a higher rate β€œhas been completely shattered. Banks should be thinking about a business model to survive. But are they?”

 

The discussions reflect the FSA’s growing frustration with regional banks whose profitability has long been eroding due to rock-bottom interest rates and stagnating local economies. Now concerns are mounting that some are too weak to withstand the coronavirus-fueled recession and may eventually need to be rescued or delisted. The pandemic has β€œshortened the time frame” for banks to tackle their problems since it will only worsen the predicament of local businesses, Endo said. He urged them to help corporate clients adapt, not just by lending money but also by giving strategic advice.

 

Japan has more than 100 regional banks. Endo didn’t identify or disclose the number under scrutiny but said the FSA started talks with them even before the outbreak struck. The conversations stem from regulatory changes last year that enable the agency to take action against banks deemed lacking sustainable business models even when they meet capital requirements or other narrow measures of financial soundness.

 

Failure to convince the FSA of their long-term viability could lead it to impose business improvement orders, a tool that carries a heavy stigma in Japan and is normally reserved for rule violations. Nomura Holdings Inc., for example, received one last year for an information leak and lost underwriting deals as a result.

 

Endo questioned whether some local bank managers have the ability to push through the needed changes. Most bank executives have risen through the ranks, and while some have come to realize the challenges, others may need to step aside in favor of external managers, he said.

 

β€œIt’s impossible for them to change the business model,” he said. β€œSo the question is whether they can see that they aren’t cut out for it and bring in outside talent.” Endo’s sense of urgency can be traced back to his early career as a Finance Ministry official during Japan’s financial crisis in the late 1990s, when the government was forced to spend trillions of yen bailing out lenders. He has said the meltdown could have been less dire if there had been more frank exchanges during the asset-price bubble that led to it.

 

Asked whether smaller banks should remain publicly traded when their declining profits could be used for capital rather than dividends, Endo said the agency isn’t in a position to tell banks to delist.

 

β€œBut if top management seriously consider the implications of staying listed, I think there will be many questions,” he said. In the past, going public itself could have been a goal, but that’s no longer the case, he said. β€œIt also costs money to stay listed.”

 

Endo has spent two years as commissioner, a typical length of service. He is set to be succeeded by Ryozo Himino soon, Kyodo reported on Tuesday. An FSA official declined to comment.

 

Separately, Endo expressed support for efforts to boost Tokyo’s standing as a global financial hub, but said the idea faces challenges. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party recently began debating a proposal to attract financial firms and workers that may be looking at alternatives to Hong Kong following China’s clampdown there.

 

Endo said that while Japan’s relatively high taxes are an issue, a bigger question is whether the country presents enough of an opportunity to generate profits.

US-Based Airlines Seeking $25 Billion Federal Loan As Air Travel Dwindles During Coronavirus

 

Five of the largest U.S. airlines have signed letters of intent to receive part of a $25 billion federal loan under the CARES Act as they struggle to recover amid the coronavirus pandemic.

 

The air carriers include Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, which have already received $25 billion in payroll aid. Last week, several other airlines also signed letters of intent, including American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Sky West Airlines, and Spirit Airlines.

 

The letters of intent set the terms of the extended loans with the Treasury Department and will provide funds to the airlines with warrants, equity interest and certain other requirements. The airlines are required to maintain employment levels and limit employee compensation, dividends and share repurchases.

Greenbelt, Maryland – A federal grand jury has indicted Eddie Ray Johnson, Jr., age 59, of Brandywine, Maryland, on federal charges of theft of government property and money laundering. The indictment was returned on July 6, 2020.

The indictment was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur; Brigadier General Terry Bullard of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI); Special Agent in Charge Robert E. Craig, Jr. of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), Mid-Atlantic Field Office; and Special Agent in Charge Kelly R. Jackson of the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), Washington, D.C. Field Office.

According to the indictment, from January 2003 to February 2018, Johnson was a civilian Air Force employee, most recently as a travel coordinator in the Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Legislative Liaison, where he planned congressional travel and reviewed and approved accounting packages submitted by trip escorts, among other duties. The indictment alleges that from March 2014 through September 2017, Johnson used his government-issued travel credit card to obtain more than $1.1 million in cash advances, at least $774,000 of which he diverted to his own personal use.

According to the indictment, Johnson frequently deposited the stolen funds into a non-interest bearing account opened in his name at a bank branch in the Pentagon. Employees in the Office of Legislative Liaison were instructed to open such accounts so that they could more easily deposit and withdraw government funds for official use without accruing interest. After depositing the stolen funds, Johnson allegedly wrote checks to himself, which he deposited into his personal bank accounts, as well as expended the money for his personal use.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for theft of government property and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison for money laundering. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. An initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt has not yet been scheduled.

As an example, consider the oft-mentioned β€œmilitary-industrial complex.” The standard rhetoric on the subject would lead one to the conclusion that the brass hats β€” the generals and the admirals who make up the military side of the complex β€” are powerful men and, hence, part of the Establishment. But, as a matter of fact, this conclusion is false. Most generals and admirals exercise virtually no influence on the System. The average general may have a lot of tanks and guns to play with. An admiral may command a mighty aircraft carrier or a whole fleet of secretaries and typists in the Pentagon. But one thing these men may not do is make independent decisions.

 

All their gold braid does not change the fact that they are mere pawns in the game β€” and rather rigidly restricted pawns, at that. Being allowed to decide whether next Tuesday’s mission will be to blow up village β€œA” instead of village β€œB” in Viet-Nam does not constitute real power, in the System sense. Neither does having the authority to write a purchase order for one million mess kits, aluminum, collapsible. This is not to say that there is no truth in the Colonel Blimp caricatures of the military bureaucrat or that much of what’s wrong in public life today is not exemplified in the Pentagon hierarchy. But the example of Douglas MacArthur should serve to illustrate what can happen when a general begins to get ideas too big for his brass hat.

 

Similar considerations apply to much of the industrial side of the military-industrial complex β€” although the industrialists, because they have money, must be scrutinized more carefully than the generals. There is no denying the fact that any man with $500 million in the bank β€” provided he is also moderately clever β€” has a definite potential for calling the tune. Nevertheless, it is surprising how little correlation there is between personal wealth and real power β€” in most cases.

In June 2016, Ellen Nakashima, a Deep State favorite from the Washington Post, released a report that the Democrat National Committee (DNC) had been hacked by Russia. The firm that validated this was Crowdstrike and its President Shawn Henry confirmed the claims. In December 2016, Ms. Nakashima followed up her reporting with the outlandish claim that the CIA had determined that Russia hacked the DNC because Russia wanted Trump to win the election. Nakashima also reported that the the Intel Community had determined that Russia also sent the emails to WikiLeaks. This position was reinforced by the Mueller gang in their efforts to have President Trump removed from office.

 

WikiLeaks did release DNC emails related to John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Manager, in the months before the 2016 Presidential election which showed massive corruption combined with an elitist attitude from members of the Hillary Clinton team – all willing to do whatever it took to win the election.

 

The Trump – Russia sounded fraudulent from the start and even preposterous.

 

On March 8, 2020 and before on June 16, 2019, we presented arguments against the Mueller gang’s assertion that the DNC was hacked by Russians.

 

Cyber expert Yaacov Apelbaum posted an incredible report with information basically proving that the DNC was not hacked by the Russians.

 

Then, after years of being hidden by corrupt lying Representative Adam Schiff in Congress, a number of testimonies related to the Russia collusion sham were unveiled after Schiff received pressure from Richard Grenell, the Acting Director of National Intelligence (ADNI) to release the transcripts. One transcript was from Crowdstrike’s Shawn Henry who stated under oath that Crowdstrike had no evidence that Russia even β€œexfiltrated” the emails from the DNC. The whole β€˜Russia stole the DNC emails and sent them to WikiLeaks’ story was a fraud.

 

Many people suspected that in 2016 a young man working for the DNC by the name of Seth Rich, copied emails from the DNC and shared them with WikiLeaks. Mr. Rich was murdered in Washington D.C. in July 2016 and it was labeled a robbery, but his wallet, phone and watch were found on his person when the police arrived at the scene. We reported numerous oddities surrounding his death.

 

For years the Seth Rich story has been covered up and labeled a conspiracy. However, we reported numerous incidents and activities within the Deep State related to covering up the Seth Rich story. We recently reported that Judicial Watch released documents obtained in a FOIA request. These emails revealed that corrupt cops Peter Strzok and Jonathan Moffa were copied in an email regarding a report from Daily Mail where ex-Brit Craig Murray claimed he traveled to Washington DC and obtained Clinton emails in an exchange in a wooded area near American University.

CBS announced Tuesday that showrunner Peter Lenkov had been fired after an investigation into claims that he promoted a toxic work environment.

Marine Corps Says Marine Shot Self on California Base

 

A Marine sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a two-hour standoff with military police Tuesday on a sprawling Marine Corps base in the Southern California desert, military officials said.

 

Shots were reported around 6:30 a.m., triggering an alert of a possible active shooter at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, about 125 miles (200 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, said spokeswoman base Capt. Nicole Plymale.

 

Military police found the Marine on a remote hillside on base and cordoned off the area, she said. They were communicating with the Marine when the individual sustained the self-inflicted gunshot wound around 8:30 a.m..

 

No one else was injured and military police fired no shots during the standoff, Plymale said. The Marine was taken to a nearby medical facility.

 

A shelter-in-place order was lifted by mid-morning and the gates to the base reopened.

 

About 8,500 people live on the sprawling base that covers 600,000 acres.

 

The Marine Corps is not releasing the Marine's identity nor gender at this time, Plymale said. Officials said they could not provide more details about whether the initial shots were shot in the air or were targeted at anyone or what the Marine's possible motive was for the shooting.

My Dad was fair high ranked in one of the 3 letter agencies. A few years back, he was able to get me a position inside Buckingham Castle. At first, it sounded exciting to me but in no time it turned into a perpetual grind.

They are also very touchy-feely too, so it is just like eating KFC as it is "finger licking good" and then "one thing leads to another". But that is another story all together.

 

What surprised me the most about working at Buckingham is how much they all drink. I am here to tell you that the Queen starts to drink about an hour after she wakes up. By noon most days she is completely shit faced. And she has a mouth that sounds worst than a truck driver too. You definitely do not want to piss her off, so everybody there tried their best to stay out of her way.

 

I didn't see too much of the other "royals" as they would come in and go rather quickly. Usually just for required events or ceremonies. For the most part they were friendly, but it was that false friendly as you could tell they didn't really listen to a thing you said.

 

Andrew was there the most. We used to joke that his wallet was running low so had to stop by for a fill-up. He drank a hell of a lot too and used chemicals as well. And when he and the Queen would get together, they would drink. A lot. They would talk buy neither listened to a word the other was saying.

 

The Queen did like young girls. She would say they were so adorable. We could tell there was more going on than meets the eye. In that respect, the whole family could be freaky and creapy at times. We just pretended that everything was normal and fine. Some of the staff reported that Charles really enjoyed getting spankings from Camilla. We used a code-name for him called "Naughtly Bad Boy".

 

Naturally, none of this is real as it is a very slow night and I thought I'd add a little humor to the chan.

Despite recent challenges to his rule, including his right-wing bloc failing to gain enough seats in the past two elections to form a government without building a coalition, as well as corruption charges levied against him, Netanyahu has managed to remain in office.

 

To understand Netanyahu’s political survival, it is necessary to map the Israeli right wing and its internal conflicts.

 

Establishing a One-Man Show

 

Netanyahu has used two main strategies to reinforce his political power from within the Israeli government. First, he has held multiple positions at the same time: During his terms as prime minister, he also presided over various ministries, the last of which were those of communications, agriculture, and health, as well as welfare and social services.

 

He was forced to resign from these positions in December 2019 due to the criminal charges against him. Second, he has expanded the practice of political appointments to ensure personal loyalty in various institutions and offices of government, including the judiciary.

 

Netanyahu has also dominated the political narrative in Israel by employing his connections in the Israeli media. According to articles of indictment in three separate corruption cases, Netanyahu has explicitly pressured Israeli media outlets to polish his image and discredit his opponents. 3

 

Political scientist Yascha Mounk affirms that Netanyahu has many of the characteristics of a model authoritarian populist: He suppresses dissenting views, attempts to take political control of public broadcasters, and has created a loyal propaganda outlet for himself via Israel Hayom, the free tabloid bankrolled by American billionaire Sheldon Adelson.

 

Furthermore, Netanyahu often employs conspiracy theories and fear-mongering to secure his political authority, claiming a monopoly on maintaining Israeli security.

 

Avraham Burg, a former speaker of the Knesset, notes that Netanyahu β€œseeds fears all over the place and then pops up around the corner and says, β€˜I have a solution for you.’” By employing this strategy Netanyahu has successfully thwarted opposition, including grassroots movements such as the 2011 β€œTents Protest,” the most significant protest movement in Israel’s history, which critiqued the government’s military and security spending.

 

Moreover, Netanyahu relentlessly incites violence against Palestinian citizens of Israel, depicting them as a Trojan horse, terrorists, and a fifth column within Israeli society. He has repeatedly described Arab voters as β€œheading to the polling stations in droves” to persuade Jewish citizens to vote for him by presenting himself as the leader who can stop the β€œArab threat.”

 

Netanyahu has systematically marginalized both his internal and external opposition. 4 By eliminating any competition within his party and building an internal network of loyal followers, he has been able to project himself as the only person capable of empowering the Likud Party, arguing that a genuine right wing would cease to exist without him.

 

Netanyahu has concurrently besieged his opponents on the Zionist left, accusing them of being traitors, feeble, and Arab-loving, and has pushed through legislation to restrict the activities of left-wing human rights organizations – the only domestic institutions challenging Israel’s most fundamental and egregious violations, most often perpetrated by Israeli settlers and the Israeli army in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Just watched the ABC World News. They are really hyping up everything about the coronavirus. One picture is of my tv which shows the chart ABC used on the news. It shows the cumulative number for coronavirus deaths over time. Very dramatic news reporting and they show this.

Today the DOJ has released additional exculpatory information to the Flynn defense team surrounding hand-written notes taken by Tashina Guahar and FBI agent Peter Strzok. The 1/25/17 meeting takes place the day after two FBI agents interview Flynn at the White House. There’s also an internal document from the DOJ dated 1/30/17, and notes by former DOJ AAG -who later became FBI counsel- Dana Boente.

 

[NOTE: Keep in mind the last day for Jody Hunt, Noel Francisco and Dana Boente was last Friday, July 3rd. Coincidental timing?]

 

The notes and internal document are filed under seal per Judge Sullivan’s prior order. However, with previous filings the documents were made public the following day; so we might see the content tomorrow.

Hillary Clinton lost her appeal, order stands to testify on private server and Benghazi emails

Amid the chaos and anarchy across blue-city America that exclusively possessed public attention for the last couple of weeks, it was not hard to miss any other bit of news β€” especially if that news has not appeared or been even briefly mentioned by any major mainstream media outlet. Take for example the news of Hillary Clinton, who lost her appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on June 2, where she tried to avoid testifying under oath about her emails and the Benghazi case.

 

The hearing in the D.C. Circuit came in the case Judicial Watch v. Clinton, a public records case involving a request for State Department documents and communication about the 2012 terror attack at the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the attack.

 

The case also involves Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state. Judicial Watch, a conservative activist watchdog group that files Freedom of Information Act lawsuits to investigate claimed misconduct by government officials, uncovered another 756 pages of emails the FBI was able to retrieve that were part of Hillary Clinton's unsecured server revealing communications between some prominent Washington figures and classified emails sent by former prime minister of the United Kingdom Tony Blair. The emails were part of the batch "Clinton tried to delete or destroy," Judicial Watch stated in its press release. It showed that Clinton had asked Blair to continue using her private email after her confirmation and also revealed that Blair was sending classified information on her unsecured server. Clinton had been "extremely careless" in her handling of classified information, as ex–FBI director James Comey carefully and rather mildly concluded in July 2016, announcing there would be no charges against her. Judicial Watch did not drop the case.

 

On June 2, Clinton's lawyers challenged a March 2 order from U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, who ordered Clinton to testify:

 

P.5: "The Court is not confident that State currently possesses every Clinton email recovered by the FBI; even years after the FBI investigation, the slow trickle of new emails has yet to be explained. For this reason, the Court believes the subpoena would be worthwhile and may even uncover additional previously undisclosed emails. Accordingly, the Court GRANTS this request."

Clinton had argued that she shouldn't be required to testify because she was a former high-level government official and that the FBI already tried to retrieve her emails. Clinton's lawyers even mentioned some "indisputable right" allowing her not to appear in court, according to Judicial Watch. Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch president, said Clinton's lawyers' petition practically states that "she's too important to have to testify to us." "She's desperate to stop this questioning by Judicial Watch because no one has asked her questions like this before[.] … We know what the issues are, and the court wants specific questions answered, but now she's seeking this extraordinary emergency intervention to stop us."

 

Judicial Watch wants to know about the Benghazi talking points β€” when senior Obama administration officials knowingly misled the country about what had happened by heavily scrubbing the CIA's talking points regarding terror references on the eve of the 2012 presidential election. They would want to ask her why she deleted 33,000 emails from her private server and what information they contained β€” because despite her claims that they were "personal," the FBI recovered more than 17,000 of them that were work-related. Did they contain any classified information? Did they contain human intel? Did she know about the upcoming terrorist attack? What measures did she use to prevent the Benghazi attack? What measures did she use to save the American lives? And many, many more.

 

And now, despite all the effort to avoid testimony, Madam Secretary will have to answer questions from Judicial Watch, as the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals submitted the case, which will now be heard on September 9. Stock up on your popcorn, America.

Around sixty patrons paid $35,800 a piece to attend a party in honor of President Obama this week, including a pair of gentlemen who have become central figures in an energy debacle that has haunted the Oval Office since last year. Among those in attendance were two key players in the Solyndra scandal.President Obama touted Solyndra, a California solar-panel start-up, as an example of perfect American entrepreneurship early on in his presidency. Last year, however, the infant green energy company filed for bankruptcy, despite the president earlier approving a gigantic loan guarantee worth $535 million for the Silicon Valley start-up. The company had borrowed all but $8 million of the massive loan before calling it quits late last year, a move that prompted Obama’s opponents to ridicule the president over what some said was β€œa dubious investment” and even initiated an investigated by the FBI.Nearly a year after Solyndra first filed for bankruptcy, the scandal took center stage again this week after Monday’s fundraiser funneled in donations from Matt Rogers, a former adviser at the Department of Energy that helped approve the loan as part of the stimulus plan, and Steve Westly, a venture capitalist that warned the White House against offering a deal to Solyndra before the president offered his own endorsement. Tashina Guahar and Dana Boente were part of the small group inside Main Justice who convinced AG Jeff Sessions to recuse. But you don’t need to wait for the court to release the March 30, 2017, Boente notes, because we already have them.

 

When the special counsel team was stirring the pot for the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, they leaked the Boente notes to their allied resistance member, Rachael Maddow. Those notes form the basis/justification for Boente signing the second renewal of the FISA warrant against Carter Page (April 2017). James Comey called Dana Boente because he needed the FISA extended and could not call Jeff Sessions.

 

Comey enlisted Boente into the operation against President Trump. Ultimately these notes form the basis for why the DOJ demanded Boente leave his position in May. This is why Boente was removed {Go Deep}.

 

In 2015 the DOJ-OIG (office of inspector general) requested oversight of the DOJ National Security Division. It was Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates who responded with a lengthy 58 page legal explanation saying, essentially, β€˜nope – not allowed.’ (PDF HERE) All of the DOJ is subject to oversight, except the DOJ-NSD.

 

When John Carlin resigned as Asst. Attorney General in charge of the DOJ National Security Division in October 2016 he was replaced by Principal Deputy Asst. Attorney General and Chief of Staff, Mary McCord. After President Trump took office on January 20th, 2017, Sally Yates was Acting AG and Mary McCord was in charge of the DOJ-NSD.

 

Yates and McCord were the two Main Justice officials who then engaged with White House Counsel Don McGahn on January 26th, 2017, regarding the General Flynn FBI interview conducted on January 24th.

 

The January 25th meeting notes [released today] likely document Tashina Guahar and Peter Strzok preparing Sally Yates and Mary McCord for that confrontation with Don McGhan. The Trump-Russia Collusion Conspiracy was the headline they were driving..

Hardy testified that (1) the FBI did not investigate any matters pertaining to Mr. Rich, and (2) the FBI was unable to locate any records about Mr. Rich. Both claims were unequivocally false.

The firm that validated this was Crowdstrike and its President Shawn Henry confirmed the claims. In December 2016, Ms. Nakashima followed up her reporting with the outlandish claim that the CIA had determined that Russia hacked the DNC because Russia wanted Trump to win the election. Nakashima also reported that the the Intel Community had determined that Russia also sent the emails to WikiLeaks. This position was reinforced by the Mueller gang in their efforts to have President Trump removed from office.

 

WikiLeaks did release DNC emails related to John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Manager, in the months before the 2016 Presidential election which showed massive corruption combined with an elitist attitude from members of the Hillary Clinton team – all willing to do whatever it took to win the election.

 

The Trump – Russia sounded fraudulent from the start and even preposterous.

 

Then, after years of being hidden by corrupt lying Representative Adam Schiff in Congress, a number of testimonies related to the Russia collusion sham were unveiled after Schiff received pressure from Richard Grenell, the Acting Director of National Intelligence (ADNI) to release the transcripts. One transcript was from Crowdstrike’s Shawn Henry who stated under oath that Crowdstrike had no evidence that Russia even β€œexfiltrated” the emails from the DNC. The whole β€˜Russia stole the DNC emails and sent them to WikiLeaks’ story was a fraud.

 

Many people suspected that in 2016 a young man working for the DNC by the name of Seth Rich, copied emails from the DNC and shared them with WikiLeaks. Mr. Rich was murdered in Washington D.C. in July 2016 and it was labeled a robbery, but his wallet, phone and watch were found on his person when the police arrived at the scene. We reported numerous oddities surrounding his death.

 

For years the Seth Rich story has been covered up and labeled a conspiracy. However, we reported numerous incidents and activities within the Deep State related to covering up the Seth Rich story. We recently reported that Judicial Watch released documents obtained in a FOIA request. These emails revealed that corrupt cops Peter Strzok and Jonathan Moffa were copied in an email regarding a report from Daily Mail where ex-Brit Craig Murray claimed he traveled to Washington DC and obtained Clinton emails in an exchange in a wooded area near American University.

Corey Hurren, who had allegedly posted QAnon conspiracy content online, faces 22 charges.

 

Court documents allege the Canadian Armed Forces member who stormed Justin Trudeau’s residence was armed to the teeth and explicitly threatened to harm the prime minister.

 

Corey Hurren, 46, allegedly rammed his truck through the front gates of Ottawa’s Rideau Hallβ€”the property that houses the homes of Trudeau and Governor General Julie Payetteβ€”on the morning of July 2, left the vehicle on foot with several weapons and, after hiding in some bushes, made his way through a good chunk of the property. He was intercepted by police officers near one of the greenhouses on the property and spent almost two hours negotiating with the officers before being arrested without incident. Police laid 22 charges against Hurren on the following day, the details of which were released on Monday.

 

Police allege Hurren did β€œknowingly utter," "convey," or β€œcause Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to receive a threat to cause death or bodily harm.” The majority of the charges Hurren faces are firearm-related. According to the court sheet, Hurren had a β€œhigh standard revolver,” a β€œNorinco M14 rifle,” and two non-restricted shotguns, and a high capacity magazine on him. He allegedly had all the weapons loaded at the time of his arrest. The explicit details of the alleged threat Hurren made against Trudeau have not yet come to light.

 

Hurren, who is from Bowsman, Manitoba, is a Canadian Rangerβ€”a member of the Canadian reserves who serve in remote parts of Canada. The Canadian Armed Forces say Hurren was in the reserves from 1997-2000 and re-upped his service in 2019. A member of the 4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, Hurren has participated in several training activities and even helped the massive search for two teen boys who were on the run from police during a murder spree last year.

 

β€œHe was considered β€œon duty” at the time of the incident on 2 July as he was supporting Operation LASER (the CAF response to the COVID-19 pandemic) on Class C full-time service,” reads the statement released by the CAF. β€œHe was not, however, part of any CAF military task at the time of his arrest; he travelled to Ottawa of his own accord without the knowledge of his chain of command.”

 

Hurren was receiving full-time work and pay as a member of the armed forces. The CAF issued Hurren a rifle as a member of the Rangers but say it was not on him at the time of his arrest and that they seized it afterwards.

 

Shortly before Hurren rammed the gates of Rideau Hall he posted a meme that refers to Event 201, a training event put on partially by the Bill Gates foundation in October which tested the world's readiness for a pandemic. Event 201 is a favourite of conspiracy theorists who hold it up as proof that elites orchestrated the pandemic. Months before this he posted a QAnon meme. The meme featured hashtagsβ€”like "adrenochrome" and "frazzledrip"β€”that shows the man is familiar with the massive far-right conspiracy which alleges President Donald Trump is waging a secret war against the β€œDeep State.”

 

Other social media postings indicate that despite his work with the Rangers, Hurren was hit hard by the pandemic. Hurren wrote he had to temporarily shut down his sausage-making company in late May.

 

"I am not sure what will be left of our economy, industries, and businesses when this all ends," he wrote.

Hurren tended to post images revolving around his sausages, his time in the Rangers, and outdoor activities like fishing before the pandemic but that changed in March when his postings became more conspiratorial. Hurren’s actions were one day removed from an anti-Trudeau rally that took place in Ottawa which brought hundreds of attendees from across the country. There’s been no evidence linking Hurren to the rally.

 

A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up for Hurren’s family by a member of a local radio station shortly after it came to light that the Manitoba man was arrested. While the GoFundMe says that the money is for Hurren’s family and isn't an endorsement of his actions, some are donating in support of the man nevertheless.

 

β€œMy sympathy to Corey’s family, but they should hold their heads high to be associated with a true hero of Kana-Duh,” wrote a man who gave $250. β€œThe remains of this once great country could use a few more folks with some balls & some brains.”

 

Other posts on social media, such as on a Facebook page called Old Stock Canadians, paint Hurren as a hero for allegedly attempting to kill Trudeau. Members of the QAnon community have already begun painting his arrest and social media postings as a "false flag."

 

Hurren will remain in police custody until at least July 17.

There is a reason why Q has been drawing our attention to this an other photos. How a right-wing conspiracy is going mainstream (2018)

Washington (CNN)In a video posted online over the weekend, President Donald Trump's first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, is seen using phrases and slogans that are hallmarks of the baseless QAnon conspiracy movement. He also tagged his post with a QAnon hashtag.

 

Followers of QAnon believe there is a "deep state" within the US government that is controlled by a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles. According to the conspiracy, the cabal is largely run by Democratic politicians and liberal celebrities – and Trump is trying to take them down.

Flynn posted the 53-second clip to Twitter on Saturday, which was the July Fourth holiday. In the video, Flynn leads a small group in reciting a generic oath of office, the same oath taken by members of Congress. After finishing the oath, Flynn says, "Where we go one, we go all!" His post included the hashtag #TakeTheOath, which he recently added to his Twitter bio as well.

These elements of Flynn's post the oath, paired with the catchphrase and hashtag are distinctive to the QAnon movement and are used widely by its followers, experts say. Flynn never explicitly mentions QAnon in the video, and his lawyer claims his phrasing is innocuous.

 

"This is absolutely pro-QAnon," said Mike Rothschild, who recently published a book examining and debunking some of the most prominent conspiracy theories. "It's the same version of the enlistment oath that Q followers have been filming themselves taking for the last week. And the phrase at the end, 'Where we go one, we go all,' is a key catchphrase in the Q mythology."

 

There are more than 10,500 replies to Flynn's tweet, many from self-identified QAnon supporters who thanked Flynn for his comments, used the same hashtag or posted clips of their own oaths. Flynn's video had been viewed 1.8 million times as of Tuesday, according to Twitter data.

 

Flynn the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency and a retired Army lieutenant general is now the most prominent former US official to publicly stoke QAnon conspiracies, even though the movement is based on lies and has been linked to several violent incidents.

 

There is also a small but growing contingent of Republican political candidates who have been linked to the conspiracy group, and are on the ballot this November. The GOP nominee for US Senate in Oregon openly touts QAnon and posted her own oath-taking video last month. She is a long shot to win, but other QAnon-friendly House candidates are likely headed to Congress.

 

The Flynn video comes while he is still fighting to wrap up his criminal case. Flynn cemented his position this year as an exonerated hero in the eyes of Trump, senior Republican officials and many right-wing media outlets, after the Justice Department dropped the case against him. These figures have repeatedly praised Flynn's integrity and Trump says he is mulling a pardon.

 

In the parallel QAnon universe, Flynn is considered a key player and is viewed as a martyr.

"The Q community is really excited by all of this. Flynn is a hugely important figure to them, seen as a warrior who infiltrated the deep state by pretending to plead guilty," Rothschild said. "The video of Flynn actually taking the oath is, to them, total validation that they were right, that Flynn is a warrior who fights for them, and that they can be digital soldiers on his level."

Flynn's lawyer pushes back

Flynn's tenure at the White House lasted just a few weeks – he resigned after getting caught in a public lie about his Russian contacts. Experts told CNN that QAnon believers often misattribute the quote to Kennedy's boat because "Q" a supposed government insider who posts online clues about the "deep state" once said it came from Kennedy. It appears to originate from the 1996 survival film "White Squall."

Asked by CNN on Monday about the quote and about Flynn's video, Powell said in an email: "General Flynn and I both encourage love of this great country and patriotism. Neither of us know Q but appreciate the support we have received from all in our fight for the Truth and Justice … implying anything wrong with words long ago inscribed on a bell to encourage the unity of the human race is malevolent and just plain wrong. There is nothing more to the story."

Experts told CNN that the oath is part of an effort to organize "digital soldiers" for an apocalyptic reckoning, when thousands of "deep state" pedophiles will be arrested and sent to military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay. (Flynn himself coined the term "digital soldiers" in 2016 to refer to Trump's fervent following on social media, one year before QAnon supporters appropriated it.)

"He is clearly endorsing QAnon in the video. Whether he believes the conspiracy theory is another matter," said Joseph Uscinski, a leading expert on conspiracy theories who teaches at the University of Miami. "The 'Where we go one, we go all' chant makes it clear. It is a QAnon saying. Further, the QAnon folks have all been taking this 'pledge' lately online and posting it."

 

Despite Powell's comments, this isn't the first time Flynn's team has flirted with conspiracies.

Many of Powell's court arguments leaned heavily on discredited allegations of a "deep state" of Democratic partisans within the FBI and Justice Department who were trying to illegally sabotage Flynn. Months before the Justice Department's about-face in the case, career prosecutors said in court filings that Powell's claims were "premised on conspiracy theories."

 

Members of Flynn's family previously posted QAnon hashtags. And Flynn recently published a series of columns that evoked some of the main QAnon themes, without saying it explicitly. As news reports emerge that the White House is mounting a renewed effort to smoke out internal leakers, a Republican anti-Trump campaign group has released a video telling the president that he cannot rely on anyone’s loyalty – and that even his family is β€œwhispering” about him.

 

Addressing the president in the first person, the ad asks β€œwhy do you think you’re losing, Donald?”, answering that he has β€œa loyalty problem”. Echoed with sinister whispering, the voiceover continues: β€œThey’re in your campaign, your White House, in Congress, even your own family.

 

β€œThey whisper about you. They leak, spin, lie. They tell the media that they’re smart and you’re out of control – that you can’t focus, that you’re mentally and physically weak, that you hide in your bunker, scared and shaky, laugh when you can’t walk down a ramp or drink water …

 

β€œWith so many leaks, you’d probably think it could be anyone. Donald – it’s everyone.”

 

The group tweeted out its ad for the first time on Tuesday, just as news outlets were reporting that the White House is narrowing down the list of potential culprits who may have leaked the story that the president ignored intelligence about Russian bounty payments for American soldiers’ lives.

 

And just as the ad went live, the Lincoln Project’s George Conway – the husband of core Trump adviser, Kellyanne Conway – tweeted: β€œ@realDonaldTrump, it’s EVERYONE. You’ll never find them, but you can see them just by looking around you.”

 

The Lincoln Project’s stated methodology is not just to try and swing voters with brutally effective negative ads against Mr Trump and in some cases his Republican allies, but to produce ads targeted very specifically at the president himself in an attempt to exploit his psychology and use it against him.

 

In May, the group purchased a single slot in the commercial breaks of an edition of Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News, which the president is known to watch devotedly.

 

The ad shown, β€œMourning in America”, so enraged Mr Trump that he tweeted furiously about the project’s team of β€œlosers” throughout the next day, guaranteeing the ad a slot in the news cycle and helping the group raise some $1.4m.

 

In the case of this particular ad, the target seems to be Mr Trump’s well-known fixation on personal loyalty. The president is known to prize this quality extremely highly in people around him; according to former FBI director James Comey, Mr Trump told him in private in January 2017 that he both β€œneeds” and β€œexpects” loyalty, and that he was obsessed with securing and preserving it from the very beginning of his presidency.

 

If the Lincoln Project’s ad really is targeted attack on Mr Trump’s own psychology, rather than just a typical attack ad, it has arrived at an apt moment.

 

While the White House hunts for leakers who have revealed a deeply damaging story of potential presidential misconduct, Mr Trump also faces the release of a book by his cousin, Mary, which reportedly presents an extremely damning analysis of Mr Trump’s character and his relationship with his family, calling him a β€œdamaged man” with β€œlethal flaws”.

 

Mr Trump tried to have the book barred from release, but failed; it is now being released two weeks earlier than planned because of huge demand.

China’s vice president in Israel to boost tech, trade ties

Wang will visit Israel October 22 to 25 and together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will co-host the fourth meeting of the Israel-China Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation (JCIC).

 

The visit of Vice President Wang Qishan of the People’s Republic of China, one of the most senior Chinese officials to visit Israel in nearly two decades, is significant because of its agenda – and in the context of global and regional tensions, it may create headwinds for one of Israel’s most important bilateral relationships.

Wang will visit Israel October 22 to 25 and together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will co-host the fourth meeting of the Israel-China Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation (JCIC). The JCIC, which convenes annually, alternating between Beijing and Jerusalem, was established in 2014.

The JCIC is one of the key government-to-government platforms between Israel and China – the others being a political dialogue at the level of deputy foreign ministers and an economic dialogue with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s top economic planning body. The JCIC has a broad agenda. For example, the start of the free trade talks and the signing of a 10-year multiple entry visa agreement for tourists and business-people were announced at the 2016 JCIC.

The JCIC acquired additional significance after Israel and China upgraded their relationship to an β€œinnovative comprehensive partnership.” This was announced when Netanyahu visited Beijing to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in March 2017, the second such visit since May 2013, which helped kick-start a wide-ranging relationship.

However, Wang’s visit is important not simply due to any new agreements to be signed or the attendance at the summit of business luminaries such as Alibaba CEO Jack Ma. It’s also because China decided to upgrade the ranking of its representative co-chairing the JCIC vis-Γ -vis the prime minister of Israel.

It used to be headed by a Chinese vice-premier and a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC). There are four vice-premiers in China’s State Council, one of them an executive vice-premier who also sits on the Standing Committee, the highest decision-making body in China. The Chinese co-chair of the JCIC was one of the three vice-premiers. In this case, it was Mme. Liu Yandong, responsible for science and technology and the only women in the top-25 party hierarchy.

While Wang is not currently a member of the Politburo (nor even on the Central Committee of the party), he is ranked No. 8 in the Communist Party hierarchy (above a vice-premier) and is, of course, a state leader. This demonstrates the importance with which China views its technology and innovation cooperation with Israel, especially in the context of rising US-China tensions.
