WHY I FIGHT

I fight because life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are worth fighting for. The founders' ideals were right in 1776 and they are still right today.

I fight because our world has been changed for the worse over my lifetime. The dark agenda behind these changes is plainly seen, in comparing decades-old memories against the present. Experience brings perspective.

I fight for nieces and nephews, and their offspring, who would probably hate all that I stand for if they knew what I believe and do. (They don't know I'm fighting to give them a better world, to return to them a goodly heritage and an opportunity for something better.)

I fight because I sincerely believe "the best is yet to come," and that by reaching out our hand toward worthy goals, we can bring them closer, for all of us.

I fight because timelines are in play, and our individual thoughts can change the outcome.

I fight now, with all of my breath and strength, because when of age for military service, I had little interest in history or God or country. I did not serve my country then; my generation largely succumbed to set of false, externally-imposed ideas.

I fight because hating your own country is a losing proposition. If you don't fight to improve the homeland that nurtured you, you're no better than an animal.

I fight as one who from early childhood onward rejected others' opinions and conclusions, examined things objectively, researched and thought for myself, and then acted upon my beliefs, regardless of the personal cost. I rejected the easy path and the easy answers. I always shunned the conventional because it only leads to mediocrity.

I fight because I believe important accomplishments require hard work and sacrifice, that everyone has the same opportunity to succeed, and that success is largely dependent on determination and hard work.

I fight because I know choices matter: that when one sees clearly, and makes up one's mind firmly to seek a certain goal, and pursues it relentlessly, one can exceed all expectations, triumph over adversity, and achieve great victories.

I fight because honoring God requires loving all of his creation and striving to bring all of it into his light.

I fight because virtue, and honor, and righteousness are not mere empty words; they are real, and true, and worth fighting for.

Because I fight, I took the oath to uphold the Constitution and defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I fight because experience shows that my efforts can strongly affect whatever cause they are applied to. So to not do my utmost, while realizing that my every push could impact the outcome, would be a failure of the worst kind.

I fight for personal excellence, and competence, and mastery, of any subject I decide to pursue.

I fight because both success and adversity have taught that you must stand up for what you believe, and strive for your goals.

I fight because you don't want to look back and say, if only I had tried a little harder… how are you going to explain that at the Judgment?

I fight, and write, because the lies are pervasive, and truth is the only antidote to lies.

Let me take you on a little journey back in time. Many years ago the father of the madam/procurer/serial sexual assaulter built his fortune not just on his media empire, but on information. That information was then used to blackmail people. Whether he did it for governments or for his own pocketbook, the operations were always ongoing. Over time the operations became larger and larger. Because his expenses far outweighed his income, he became greedy. Too greedy. He ended up dead.

 

Although his children might not have known he was out of money, they all did learn one thing from him. Blackmail. They also learned that if you could play on the inside, you would have knowledge. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is money. Also playing on the inside meant you can control who escapes and who is caught. Playing on the inside means you can make it impossible for someone to be found.

 

Two of the daughters focused on playing on the inside. What did they accomplish? A backdoor into the computers of various intelligence and border control agencies in countries throughout the world. How did they accomplish this? They designed the system. They built it. They sold it to one country at a time. One of the things the software is used for is border controls. If you have the ability to pretend someone is in a county or show them never entering or leaving a country, you can hide someone really well. It could also make it really easy to hide a family member. It is not a fail safe system for hiding someone, but it takes away one of the biggest tools governments have for finding someone who is trying to disappear.

 

Fast forward to the present day to the biggest blackmailing operation in the history of the world. A blackmailing operation that involves multiple state actors and one of the biggest accounting frauds since Enron. The accounting fraud was only possible because regulators in several countries were being pressured by other state actors. All of these directions lead to Asia. One of the state actors handled the banking and fraud aspect. They had a trial run last year with their successful hacking of international banks. That country does not have the wherewithal or ability to take on a large scale blackmail operation. You need someone larger for that. A very large country who also happens to be the sponsor/lifeline for the other company.

 

You have a missing executive of a company that processed thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of transactions for child porn. The executive has all of the information of who produced it, distributed it, and consumed it through these financial transactions. Meanwhile, why not steal some money while they were at it and cover that up too.

 

Now, what about the sisters I wrote about earlier? The ability to manipulate where someone went and where someone is going. The executive supposedly flew into a Southeast Asian country, at least according to the immigration arrival records in the country's computer system. However, he is not on any video. No one remembers him on the flight. The next day he supposedly leaves for the country behind all of this, but there were no flights to that country at that time that correspond with the immigration records. It sure makes it a lot easier to hide when you have someone on the inside.

The coronavirus pandemic has directly cost some 500,000 lives. But the damage it has wreaked on the world economy will cost many more.

This is my understanding as well. I got to this understanding via some Canadian lawyers YouTube vids as MSM won’t provide actual details about the case/timelines.

 

Appeals court had 14 days to choose to do something called an en banc review. 14 days expired approximately yesterday/today. I haven’t heard of the appeals court (majority trump judges) picking up the en banc review either.

 

I’m not sure how much time Judge Sullivan has to bring everyone in and dismiss. Could be required today, but I suspect he gets some leeway (maybe within a week or 2) before the appeals courts starts demanding or assigning to another judge.

 

Once the case is dismissed the record will show Flynn was unjustly targeted by the Obama Administration, knowingly. Boom.

Pic#1 shows the bracketed tanker VANESSA is a Comoros Isl.-flagged ship; also in the anchorage is Liberian-flagged COMMODORE, and two Marshall Isl.-flagged oilers, RIO ORINOCO and RIO APURE. Interestingly, COMMODORE has a listed destination of Trinidad and Tobago, but it’s origin point of Singapore and duration of trip (departed April 22) gave it plenty of time to onload/offload as it chooses. Sounds sneaky, so I’m adding this one to the merchant watch list. COMMODORE, IMO# 9176993, MMSI# 636019754 is the tracking data for fellow BF’s.

 

Panamanian-flagged tanker NEW PAROS is also inbound with a destination shown as the Puerto La Cruz port nearby. Panama shipping deliveries are a pretty frequent occurrence so I’m sure this is not something SOUTHCOM worries about a great deal.

Weekly Jobless Claims Fall to 1.314 Million, Slightly Better Than Expected

 

New claims for unemployment benefits fell to 1.314 million for the week ended July 6, 99 thousand fewer than a week earlier, the Department of Labor reported Thursday.

 

Economists surveyed by Econoday had been expecting 1.375 million claims.

 

This was the 15th consecutive week with initial claims above one million. Expectations for claims to fall have come down. A week ago, economists forecast that claims would fall to 1.38 million but they were reported at 1.427 million. Those claims were revised down by 14,000.

 

The estimate for ongoing unemployment claims, those made after the initial filing, during the week ending June 27 was 18,062,000, a decrease of 698,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised down by 530,000 from 19,290,000 to 18,760,000. The 4-week moving average was 19,085,500, a decrease of 636,000 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised down by 132,500 from 19,854,000 to 19,721,500.

Kelly Helped Secure Chinese Tech Giant's Stake in Firm

 

Mark Kelly, the former NASA astronaut trying to oust Arizona GOP Sen. The story from officials at World View, the company Kelly co-founded, about Chinese tech giant Tencent’s involvement in the company also has shifted in recent weeks as it’s faced more media scrutiny for its decision to accept two sets of investments from the Chinese company. Tencent is one of the world’s largest internet enterprises and the owner of the popular Chinese social media platform WeChat, a texting application with more than a billion users. In recent years, it has faced international scrutiny over widespread suspicions and reports that it monitors the activity of many of its users both inside and outside China.

 

Those security fears have only increased this year amid the coronavirus pandemic and rising concerns about Chinese disinformation, spying and surveillance. A recent University of Toronto study found that WeChat has been censoring keywords relating to the COVID-19 outbreak since at least Jan. 1. Just last week, India banned Tencent’s WeChat app over concerns that it was secretly stealing users’ data and sending it back to China.

 

Critics of U.S. companies with Chinese investors, including World View, say the Chinese government uses the business relationships to steal U.S. defense and tech secrets and boost its own economy, at America’s expense.

 

In 2012 Kelly and several other former NASA astronauts and space-exploration experts founded World View, an Arizona-based company offering to take scientific instruments and people into earth’s stratosphere. At first the company focused on space tourism as its business model, with plans to charge $75,000 per commercial passenger on flights to near outer space in a capsule attached to a huge helium balloon.

 

In recent years, however, the company has increasingly shifted to contracting with NASA and the Department of Defense to use the balloon, known as a Stratollite, to carry unmanned payloads for extended periods and provide imagery of the Earth with a resolution sharp to five centimeters, far better than satellites can offer.

Massachusetts AG: Harvard grad, former town accountant stole more than $729,000 from various cities

 

BOSTON, MA – WCVB 5abc reported that The Attorney General’s Office and Attorney General Maura Healey reported the accusation of theft and fraud by Justin Cole on Tuesday, July 7.

 

Cole is 38 years old and a graduate of Harvard.

 

Police say he stole money from the town of Uxbridge over a period of five years, 2012-2017. During this time, he was the town’s accountant. They are also accusing Cole of defrauding the towns of Monterey and Millville after leaving employment in Uxbridge.

 

Cole was indicted for stealing over $729,000 from various cities.

 

Prosecutors said Cole tendered and approved several false invoices causing Uxbridge to pay for services that were never provided.

Serbian defense minister says protests are ‘COUP ATTEMPT’, aim to spark CIVIL WAR

 

Violent clashes that rocked Belgrade and other cities this week were “carefully prepared,” and are aimed at seizing power and igniting a civil war in Serbia, the Balkan country’s defense minister has alleged.

 

What started as a demonstration against the government-planned curfew over the coronavirus eventually got out of hand and snowballed into massive riots that saw mostly young people assaulting police squads in Belgrade and other major Serbian cities.

 

The brewing unrest is actually a coup attempt, Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin opined on Thursday while speaking on local television. The “terrible street violence” has purely political backgrounds, he argued.

 

We have a coup attempt, we have an attempt to seize power by force and an attempt to provoke a civil war in Serbia. It cannot be described in any other way.

 

President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Tuesday that a curfew would be put in place this Friday and run throughout the weekend. Right after, thousands of people gathered outside the parliament.

 

They clashed with police while apparently trying to get into the building. Riot squads fired tear gas to force the crowds back.

 

According to Defense Minister Vulin, the protests were a coordinated action and “did not happen by accident.” He noted that media coverage across the Balkans was generally hostile toward the Serbian government, which, again, “is not accidental.”

 

It is obvious that there is an orchestrated [media] campaign because they do not want a successful and stable Serbia.

 

The Balkan nation has reported over 17,000 Covid-19 cases and over 340 fatalities. Mass protests, in which people didn’t keep apart, have only increased the risk of spreading the contagion, Vulin warned.

 

“I wonder who will be responsible for the fact that hundreds and thousands of people became infected yesterday and the day before yesterday,” he said.

 

Meanwhile, President Vucic backtracked on the curfew. The government is expected to try other measures, including shortened hours for public spaces and fines for those not wearing protective masks.

I read his book recently, "A Republic if You Can Keep It."

He is what's called a strict originalist or constitutionalist.

He's sticking to treaties with the Indians here.

According to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the sanctions make the individuals "ineligible" for entry into the US.

 

The decision will likely provoke a response from Beijing beyond just the angry rhetoric they often employ, as President Xi and top Communist Party officials have specifically denounced American economic sanctions on individuals and Chinese companies as "politically motivated" attempts to undercut the Chinese economy.

 

Notably, the move follows the UK's decision to use new "Magnitsky" powers adopted by the British government to impose sanctions on individuals involved in "human rights abuses" from Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Myanmar. Those targeted include senior Saudi intelligence officials believed to have been involved in the Khashoggi murder, as well as Russian officials implicated in the death of Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer who died in a Moscow prison after purportedly uncovering a massive fraud.

 

Both President Xi and President Putin have criticized the US for abusing its sanction powers, claiming that the end result will be more countries shying away from the greenback and using other currencies (the ruble, perhaps. or just straight gold) to store foreign reserves.

 

One twitter user offered some insight into who these men are. All of them, it seems, are senior CCP officials; one is a chief of police in Xinjiang, where nearly a million Muslims are believed to be held in captivity.

At least five years, “ideally seven,” will be needed to replace Huawei’s 5G equipment, Vodafone and BT have told British MPs. The introduction of the ultra-fast networks across the country would be delayed, they warned.

Andrea Dona, head of networks at Vodafone UK, told Parliament’s Science and Technology Committee that replacing the Huawei systems with alternative ones will take at least five years. “The replacement doesn’t happen overnight,” the executive warned.

 

He said it would involve physically switching off the signal and disconnecting the 5G antenna. The “service-affecting” action would be “highly disruptive for our customers and for our businesses,” Dona said, when pressed to explain what could happen if the company is told to phase out the Chinese-made gear in two years.

 

People across the UK will be left without service “for a couple of days, depending on how big and how intrusive the work to be carried out is.” Further restrictions “will have an effect, it will delay the rollout of our 5G,” he added, stressing that it would have cost implications worth “single figure billions.”

 

“It is logistically impossible, I believe, to get to zero in a three-year period. That would literally mean blacking out the customers on 3G and 4G as well as 5G throughout the country,” stated Howard Watson, BT’s chief technology officer. “We would definitely not recommend that we go down this route,” he urged.

We are not there yet, but when the time comes I will be ready.”’ It’s nice to see young investors with such a keen understanding of the fundamentals of this rally – which are not related to Chinese CPI and PPI at 2.5% y/y (as expected) and -3.0% y/y (slightly better than the consensus), which is a very bad combination for many firms.

Hawaii: New Bill Would Give Health Director Power to Call a Health Emergency and Impose Quarantines

 

The Hawaii Senate voted 20-4 in favor of House Bill 2502 that would give the director of the State Department of Health the power to declare a health emergency if authorized by the governor. The governor already has the power to declare a health emergency, and critics of this bill say that it gives too much power to a state official who is not elected.

If the bill is made into law, the director would be allowed to require screening, testing, contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation of people deemed by the department to be infected, at higher risk of infection, or at risk of spreading infection. The measure now heads to the House.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in the ''1100 block of S. Schenley'' Avenue, police confirm.

 

A family across the street told WKBN that the home belonged to a nice elderly couple. They said the ''husband was peculiar about how he cut his lawn.''

 

Police would only say “two family members” were found in the home by a relative about 11 a.m. Thursday.

 

Lt. Brian Welsh of the Detective Bureau said investigators are still trying to piece together what might have happened.

 

''“It’s a sad situation,”'' Welsh said.

 

Police said the Mahoning County Coroners Office will release the names of the victims.

 

Youngstown has now recorded17 homicides for the year. In 2019, the city had 20 homicides.

Kavanaugh & Gorsuch rule against Trump in Supreme Court tax returns case

 

Trump’s hotly-pursued tax returns may see the light of day, after the Supreme Court ruled that his financial records can be handed over to a New York grand jury in a decision supported by three conservative justices.

 

In a 7-2 ruling, the court found that a subpoena issued to Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars LLP, can be enforced, and dismissed Trump’s lawyers’ argument that he is immune from criminal proceedings. The request was part of a criminal investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, and years of Trump’s tax returns will now have to be turned over to a grand jury.

 

Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who were both nominated to the Supreme Court by Trump, along with another conservative, John Roberts, sided with their four liberal colleagues in the ruling.

 

The decision itself and the position taken by the president’s appointees prompted glee from Democrats at the turnaround.

 

Democrats have been insisting on seeing Trump’s tax returns since the 2016 campaign, and even floated the idea that this should be a condition for his opponent Joe Biden to participate in the debates. But the documents so far will only be available to the jury, and it’s unclear if the public would see them before the November election.

 

The Supreme Court also threw out related rulings allowing committees in the Democratic-led House of Representatives to obtain the president’s financial records, sending the issue back to lower courts. HUMAN SEX TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION DISMANTLED IN MALVERN

 

A 14-year-old’s message, “I don’t want to be here anymore,” assisted in an investigation that uncovered an East Whiteland Township human sex trafficking organization that entrapped child and adult victims in Malvern, PA.

 

East Whiteland Township police, along with the Chester County Detectives and Homeland Security Investigations [the investigative division of ICE], rescued the 14-year-old victim at a Wawa parking lot in Malvern on May 30, 2020, after she was held against her will for weeks at various locations in the area. Investigators subsequently learned that she and an 18-year-old were both victims in a human sex trafficking organization run by three men, as well as other unidentified and unnamed individuals.

 

These codefendants engaged in a criminal conspiracy and criminal course of conduct by recruiting, enticing, soliciting, transporting, obtaining and maintaining individuals who they benefited from financially while they were subjected to sexual servitude, as well as other sexual assaults and criminal activity.

 

As a result the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the East Whiteland Township Police Department recently arrested co-defendants Dimas Omar Cornejo Hernandez, also known as “Adonys,” age 34; Franklin Rivera Mendieta, also known as “Mono,” age 25; and Josue Sibrian Sanchez, also known as “Sibrian,” age 33, for the charges of a Corrupt Organization that engaged in a pattern of racketeering activity that included Trafficking in Minors, Involuntary Servitude, Criminal Conspiracy, Kidnapping, Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Promoting Prostitution, and related offenses at various locations in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, between February 2020 and May 2020.

 

Five other individuals who paid to have sex with the minor child and/or adult victim were also arrested in East Whiteland Township. They are: Diana Ordonez, age 25; Luis Cabrera Peralta, age 29; Nestor Ruiz, age 45; Juan Humberto Ortiz Ortiz, age 35; and Carlos Villatoro Gallegos, age 23.

 

A 14-year-old child (“Victim 1”), missing from Maryland since early May 2020, sent a message to a friend to report that she was being held against her will and sold for sex. Her friend contacted police to report the statement. On May 28, 2020, Victim 1 sent a Facebook message to her mother, stating that she “didn’t want to be here anymore” and asked that she pick her up at a Wawa on Lancaster Avenue in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, PA. Her mother contacted police detailing where she was to meet her daughter.

 

In the early hours of May 30, 2020, law enforcement rescued Victim 1 who said she’d been held against her will and forced to have sex for money with as many as 4-5 individuals per day at three different locations in East Whiteland Township. Victim 1 was told that she and her mother would be killed if she did not comply.

 

Victim 1 stated that she was originally recruited by a female known to her as “Tiny,” a 17-year old victim from Camden, NJ, at a party in Washington, DC. After communicating through Snapchat, Tiny asked Victim 1 if she wanted to make money and then picked Victim 1 up in Maryland with one of the codefendants. Victim 1 was driven to an apartment in Malvern, PA where she was forced to perform oral sex on one of the co-defendants as a means of “breaking” and “testing” her for the work she would be required to perform. She said Tiny and one of the co-defendants took pictures of her that were used to advertise that men could pay to have sex with her, and they took her to Walmart to buy “sexy clothes.”

 

While interviewing witnesses regarding the abuse of Victim 1, a second victim was discovered – an 18-year-old (“Victim 2”), who said she had been held against her will by the co-defendants during February and March of 2020. Victim 2 said she met a female through Snapchat who introduced her to one of the codefendants on the premise that he had a job for her working in a bar.

 

Victim 2 was picked up in Virginia and brought to East Whiteland Township where she was forced to have sex for money with numerous individuals. Victim 2 was also sexually assaulted by one of the co-defendants and threatened with bodily harm if she attempted to leave. She was also forced to ingest drugs on various occasions. One of the co-defendants collected money from individuals who paid to have sex with her and also served as a doorman. She was held for approximately three weeks before she was able to escape.

Following the protests that stemmed from the killing of George Floyd by a city cop, the Minneapolis City Council pledged last month to begin the process of dismantling the Minneapolis Police Department. But that plan has not sat well with citizens who have seen crime grow in their communities and want to know what will be done if they're no longer able to count on the police.

 

Now a group of black peace activists is taking on the leadership of the city of Minneapolis over its push to dismantle the police.

 

The group held an "urgent news conference" Tuesday to raise their voices against the council's plan, WCCO-TV reported.

 

One of the activists, Lisa Clemons, who is a former police officer and is now with "A Mother's Love," told reporters, "We cannot continue to watch these bullets flying through our community."

 

For Clemons and her fellow advocates for peace, the time has come to "stand up" to the City Council and call its plan what it is: "B.S."

 

"It is time for us to stand up in this city. It is time to tell the City Council that utopia is a bunch of B.S.," Clemons said.

 

With the recent escalation in shootings in the city, she said Minneapolis is more like the Old West.

 

"We are not in Mayberry R.F.D.," she said. "We are in the wild, wild, West, and it is time for some answers."

Calling out a council member

 

Shortly after the news conference, Clemons was speaking to WCCO outside the venue when City Councilwoman Andrea Jenkins happen to pass by. The councilwoman was one of the members who voted to move closer to dismantling the police.

 

Clemons challenged Jenkins to come answer some questions, and Jenkins obliged.

 

When challenged on her position on dismantling the police, Jenkins said she knows the city still needs public safety officers, but the force needs to be "reimagined."

 

"I want to reimagine a police force that responds to the community in a way that is respectful," Jenkins said.

 

Clemons challenged Jenkins on the "recent surge in street violence."

 

"My only response to that is we are going to have, we will have those conversations," Jenkins replied. "We are in an emergency situation."

 

Despite the council's pledge to dismantle the police, ultimately any change would have to be voted on by the people of Minneapolis, WCCO noted.

U.S. Army Message: ‘Make America Great Again,’ Columbus Day Are Signs of ‘White Supremacy’

 

A U.S. Army email, sent after the Fourth of July to its military and civilian members, included a graphic which claimed saying the phrase “Make America Great Again” is evidence of “white supremacy.”

 

The graphic listed other behaviors it deemed evidence of white supremacy, including, “Celebration of Columbus Day,” the “Denial of White Privilege,” “Talking about ‘American Exceptionalism,'” and saying “There’s Only One Human Race.”

 

The email invited “all soldiers and (Department of the Army) Civilian Personnel” to attend the U.S. Army’s “Operation Inclusion” seminars on July 8 and 9 at the Redstone Arsenal Army Base in Alabama. The email was sent by Chaney P. Pickard from the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Center using an official government email.

 

The message named the “U.S. Army Equity & Inclusion Agency” and “Assistant Secretary of the Army — Manpower and Reserve Affairs” as authors.

 

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) — who caught wind of the email — blasted the “deeply offensive and racist U.S. Army ‘Operation Inclusion'” content and demanded the firing and prosecution of Army personnel who used government resources to distribute political propaganda.

 

Brooks said the email is in “clear violation” of the Hatch Act, which bans government personnel from engaging in political activity while at work.

During an interview with ABC News released on Wednesday, Attorney General William Barr announced that the Department of Justice will place “well over 100 federal agents” in Kansas City, MO to help state and local officials combat gang violence in the city in response to a request for federal assistance from state and local officials in dealing with the spikes in crime in the city.

By nature, closed and authoritarian regimes, such as Russia and China, have an easier job of spying on their more progressive and open adversaries — the United States and the West — and currently possess the advantage. What follows is the author’s abridged philosophy of intelligence on this revolution in spycraft.

 

Last year, Foreign Policy magazine introduced a provocative thought piece highlighting the ongoing revolution in espionage: namely, that intelligence agencies must adapt (or die) to disruptive changes in politics, business, and technology.

 

At the risk of irrelevance, Western intelligence agencies are learning that traditional models of spying are outdated and losing out to more nimble, collaborative, and less fragile adversaries. As the article adeptly notes, “the balance of power in the spy world is shifting: closed societies now have the edge over open ones. It has become harder for Western countries to spy on places such as China, Iran, and Russia and easier for those countries’ intelligence services to spy on the rest of the world.”

 

Circumstances such as unprecedented levels of legislative and judicial scrutiny, technological advances in mobile phones and electronic data, public skepticism of domestic and international intelligence activities, and general political scrutiny in liberal democracies are symptomatic of such difficulties. But I’m not one of those people who’s wedded to, oh, a statue, to somebody someplace is an important thing. I don’t — again, if the community doesn’t want the statue there, the statue shouldn’t be there. Doesn’t diminish my pride in my Italian-American heritage, and the fact that it was a country discovered by an Italian, named for an Italian, Amerigo Vespucci. So — I have that pride. But I don’t care that much about statues.

 

Q: Shouldn’t that be done by a — respectfully, shouldn’t that be done by a commission, or the city council, not a mob in the middle of the night, throwing it into the harbor?

 

Pelosi: People will do what they do. It’s a — I do think that from a safety standpoint it would be a good idea, to have it taken down if the community doesn’t want it. I don’t know that it has to be a commission, but it just could be a community view. And sometimes it’s something that’s been there, that view has been there for a while.

 

Pelosi represents San Francisco but is originally from Baltimore. Her father was the mayor, and oversaw the dedication of a statue honoring Confederate military leaders Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee in 1948.
