In July, the Committee released an interim staff report titled "GARM's Harm: How the World's Biggest Brands Seek to Control Online Speech," which details how large corporations, advertising agencies, and industry associations—through the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and specifically its GARM initiative—participated in boycotts and coordinated actions to demonetize platforms, podcasts, news outlets, and other content that GARM and its members deem disfavored.

The Committee's oversight has shown that GARM has deviated significantly from its original intent and has collectively used its immense market power to demonetize voices and viewpoints the group disagrees with—even intervening in situations that do not have a so-called "brand safety" concern.

One of the main issues for the election is the economy.

It's already been bad under Biden-Harris. It got worse on Friday as the stock market tanked and a bad July jobs report came in, as we reported.

Hiring slowed to 114,000 jobs last month, the government report said, missing expectations. The unemployment rate rose to 4.3 percent—its highest level in nearly three years, when the economy was still clawing its way back from the pandemic. That was also worse than expectations.

Now, that raises big concerns about a slowing economy, which my colleague Ward Clark noted.

Economist John Lonski said on Fox Business that it is starting to look like a recession is coming into view:

So, what excuse did the Harris team have?

You won't believe how unhinged their response was to this. Or maybe you will, given how so much of what they say isn't based on any kind of reality. The response to this question alone should be disqualifying because it's such a bunch of horse hockey.

According to Harris' spokesperson, guess who's somehow responsible for their bad jobs report?

"Donald Trump failed Americans as president, costing our economy millions of jobs, and bringing us to the brink of recession," Harris for President spokesperson James Singer said in a statement.

"Now, he’s promising even more damage with a Project 2025 agenda that will decimate the middle class and increase taxes on working families, while ripping away health care, raising prescription drug costs, and cutting Social Security and Medicare — all while making his billionaire donors richer."

Someone want to explain how the Biden-Harris disaster has anything to do with Trump, almost a full term after he was in office? What does that say about their refusal to take accountability for their own failures? And what does Project 2025 (which isn't in effect) have to do with anything–when it has nothing to do with Trump and nothing to do with the Biden-Harris bad economy? Do they really think Americans are going to buy all this bilge?

Singer added: "We’ve made significant progress, but Vice President Harris knows there’s more work to do to lower costs for families."

Singer said Harris "will make building up the middle class the defining goal of her presidency, taking on greedy corporations that are price gouging consumers, banning hidden fees, and capping unfair rent increases and drug costs."

So, she's going to say and do the same things that they've already been doing that helped get us into this mess to begin with, blaming everyone else but themselves for the problems.

Ultimately, it always comes down to the economy and Harris just gave a sure-fire reason why you should not vote for her, when she refuses to take responsibility for the administration's own actions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability released an interim staff report titled, "The Scandal Around the Biden-Harris Administration's Site-Selection Process for a New FBI Headquarters." Thereport highlights the scandalous process leading up to the General Services Administration's (GSA) decision to select Greenbelt, Maryland, as the location for the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters building. While GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan has defended the process as "fair" and "transparent," and dismissed bipartisan criticism of the process as "without merit,"the site-selection process has devolved into scandaland resulted in FBI Director Christopher Wray rebuking GSA's tainted process.

Since launching the investigation, the Committees have reviewed over 7,500 documents from both GSA and FBI, conducted two transcribed interviews, and received several briefings about the site-selection process for the new FBI headquarters.The documents and testimony reveal the process was tainted by politics from the start. For example:

•The GSA political appointee who served as the site-selectionauthority was the third site-selection authority for the FBI headquarters project and was the only political appointee of the three. According to an FBI official, her selection for this role contradicted an earlier statement made by Administrator Carnahan that only career GSA officials would run the site-selection process.

• The GSA political appointee ordered a "back-check" meeting soon after the panel had already agreed to recommend Springfield, Virginia, as the new headquarters site. During this meeting, the political appointee showed favorability toward the Greenbelt site, which isowned by her former employer—the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. (WMATA).

• GSA politicized the site-selection process bygiving significant weight to criteriameant to further the Biden-Harris Administration's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion(DEI) initiatives.

The entire site-selection process is emblematic of how the political environment of the nation's capital has tainted federal law enforcement and eroded public trust in the FBI. Despite lingering concerns from the FBI, Congress, and the general public, GSA continues to defend the process and decision, and is moving forward with trying to acquire the Greenbelt site.

In place of another politicized headquarters in the National Capital Region, Congress ought to consider moving headquarters operations out of the Washington area.Fortunately, the FBI already possess as state of the art "second headquarters" at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, that could serve as a headquarters facilityfar from the political intrigue and political motivationsthat have plagued the FBI in recent times.

TheCommittees believe that the current proposal for a new FBI headquarters is inadequate, ill-defined, and does not take into account the current requirements of the FBI. Accordingly, GSA should submit a prospectus that includes accurate and updated information on costs and scope and considers alternative solutions on locations that may better meet the FBI's current mission. Until such a prospectus is submitted and the concerns identified are addressed, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has insufficient information to call the prospectus up for Committee action.

Zelensky Suspends Ukraine's Foreign Debt Payments Starting Aug 1st

Who could have seen this coming? Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a new law which defers public debt payments until October if necessary, Reuters has confirmed. The bill was signed by Zelensky and returned to parliament on Wednesday.

The government now has the authority to postpone payments on external public debt until restructuring negotiations are seen through, which could then see a moratorium held that would formally mark a sovereign default.

"It is necessary to introduce, for the period of transactions to change the terms of borrowing, temporary measures related to the servicing and repayment of debt obligations and a moratorium on satisfaction of creditors' claims," the bill released by the president's office said.

The clock is ticking on debt restructure as a payment freeze agreed upon two years ago will soon expire (on Aug.1), and as Reuters notes: "Earlier this month, Ukraine announced a preliminary deal with a committee of its main bondholders to restructure its near $20 billion worth of international debt."

Bondholders must still approve the deal, which is likely, given the plan has the support of foreign governments.

Exactly one week ago, Fitch Ratings downgraded the country's long-term foreign currency issuer default rating from the "CC" level to the lower "C" level.

"The reported agreement with external commercial creditors constitutes a distressed debt exchange (DDE) under its sovereign rating criteria," Fitch said.

Reuters further reviews that the proposal would see "a 37% nominal haircut on Ukraine's outstanding international bonds, saving Kyiv $11.4 billion in payments over the next three years - the duration of the country's program with the International Monetary Fund, according to government statements."

It was in February 2022 that Ukraine reached a hasty agreement with its creditors to freeze payments of some 23$ billion till August 2024 amid the backdrop of the Russian invasion. Since then Kiev has been almost completely reliant on foreign aid.

This was all long ago predicted, including by EU parliamentarians, given that the longer the war drags on the closer the war-ravaged country is to defaulting…

Former president of PayPal David Marcus announced he has switched political parties and endorsed Donald Trump via X, the site formerly known as Twitter.The tech entrepreneur, who recently headed up Messenger at Meta, announced he was "crossing the Rubicon and backing the Republican Party" as well as the campaign of former President Trump.

In his lengthy post,Marcus cites an "eye-opening process of disenchantment, zero-basing lifelong beliefs, and rebuilding" in order to reach his ultimate conclusion. "I am crossing the Rubicon and backing the Republican Party and President Trump.Many — including a former version of myself — get trapped in a mental framework that becomes their identity and prevents them from radically evolving their thinkingwith new facts and information.I finally broke free from it," wrote Marcus.

"My journey has been a gradual political 180 from where I stood in every previous election. It has been an eye-opening process of disenchantment, zero-basing lifelong beliefs, and rebuilding from there." Marcus cited an anecdote where, in 2017, he was enlisted to raise $100 million from Silicon Valley for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in order to "prevent a repeat of Hillary Clinton’s inadequate, outdated 2016 campaign."Marcus was shocked to discover that the DNC only intended to use a "single-digit percentage" for tech purposes.

He also cites a 2019 incident after testifying on Meta's behalf at the Senate and the House. He recalls, "At the time, I still believed the mainstream idea that Democrats were all about serving the People. However,I was shocked to learn that, for the most part, Republicans cared more deeply about their constituents, while Democrats, in my experience, cared more about government power and control."

The former PayPal president posited, "this trend of spinning and manufacturing a parallel reality to serve the Dem agenda, solidified by complicit mainstream media, hit homewith theHunter Biden laptop story, thecoordinated vilification of President Trump and his followers, andPresident Biden’s cognitive decline— depriving voters of a voice in a proper primary. These examples displayed thehubris of the current Dem leadership."

"You must think the American people are fools to believe the spin on these issues.I despise this elite vs. general population ideology viscerally. This version of the Democratic Party is sidelining moderates and centrists and hasadopted an increasingly leftist ideology," wrote Marcus.

Marcus is aligned with Trump on technology innovations like crypto and AI as well as foreign policy — especially the Middle East. He opined, "On Iran, this administration is continuing a misguided Obama-era planto bring Iran closer to the West by unfreezing Trump-era sanctions, thus giving the Mollahs’ regime the ability to fund terrorism and pursue its anti-America, anti-Israel, and anti-Jewish agenda."

"I believe we need a President who is unequivocally pro: America, the Constitution, business, Bitcoin/crypto, innovation, Israel, small government, legal immigration, free speech, meritocracy, and common sense — and anti: regulatory proliferation, illegal immigration, unjust wars, Iran’s current regime, and domestic groups that oppose American values," he wrote.

"These issues are central to President Trump’s platform," asserted Marcus. The tech entrepreneurdoes not accept, however, the GOP's stance on "reproductive rights." Marcus completed his post by referencing the attempt on former President Trump's life at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

"It’s impossible to close this post without mentioning President Trump’s recent assassination attempt.The courage and resolve he displayed seconds after being hit by a bullet was awe-inspiring for his followers and detractors alike. This was a man, however imperfect, who, at that moment, incarnated the American spirit in the most vivid way, starting to bring a split nation together," he wrote.

"In this pivotal moment, confronted with the choices we have,I am endorsing and supporting a return to a Republican administration in 2025," the post concluded. Fellow tech entrepreneur Joe Lonsdale, founder of Palantir Technologies, commented, "Well said. Thank you for your intellectual courage."
