Stossel TV on “The Myth of U.S. Mass Shooters”

Dozens of news outlets reported that America has the most mass shooters in the world. Many say that shows America needs more gun control.

CNN claimed that “the U.S. has the most mass shootings”. The WSJ reported that “U.S. leads the world in mass shootings.” Nearly every major media outlet, and Former President Obama, said the same.

But the claim is based on just one study, and the author of that study, Adam Lankford, would not release his data to either John Stossel or researchers in the field.

Economist John Lott says that Lankford’s study has many flaws (our research and data can be downloaded here and data over more years is here).

Lankford claimed to find “complete data” for all mass shootings in 171 countries from 1966 to 2012. But Lott notes that in Lankford’s paper, he doesn’t specify basic details about how he found shootings in so many countries — most of which don’t speak English — before the internet.

Lott notes that finding complete data for mass shooters in just one developing country, such as India in the 1970s, would be an incredible feat, as many shootings would have been reported only in local outlets in the local language.

Lankford has declined to answer questions about how he searched for foreign-language cases.

U.S. mass shootings, on the other hand, are well-documented and hard to miss.

Lott notes that if Lankford missed foreign cases but found all the U.S. ones, his paper’s entire conclusion that the US has the most mass shooters would fall apart.

Did Lankford miss foreign cases? Lankford would not release his data, so Lott and the think tank he runs — the Crime Prevention Research Center — compiled their own count of mass shooters from scratch.

Lott counted more than 3,000 cases around the world — many times more than Lankford found (202.) Lott’s count is also only a partial count; he only tried to find cases in the last 15 years.

Lott attempted to use the same definition of “mass shooter” that Lankford used. In his paper, however, Lankford says he excludes “sponsored terrorism” but does not further define what he means by that.

To be safe, Lott also tried removing all terrorism cases from his data; when he does that, he reports finding some 700 shooters around the world — still more than 3 times what Lankford found in less than one-third the number of years.

I'm the anon who located that by web search

But NO, I never asserted it is the same prison barge that your relative saw in Morehead City, NC. We still need to compare photos of both – not what color the paint job is because that could be changed – but size, shape, number of decks, location of windows and stairs, the basketball court on the top deck or none → basic photo comparison for identification.

If the Morehead City barge is different from the Vernon C. Bain that should be pretty easy to demonstrate. I haven't got the pictures.

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley weighed in on the FBI’s conduct during their interrogation of General Mike Flynn. Turley went on with Martha MacCullum on Friday night following the Special Counsel release of the notes in the summer of 2017 on the interrogation of General Mike Flynn in January 2017.

The original 302 notes from the meeting between former Trump White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn with corrupt FBI agent Peter Strzok and mysterious FBI agent Joe Pientka have yet to be found or released.

Flynn was a top target of the Obama Deep State. The FBI did not even notify Flynn he was being interrogated. In fact, earlier this week we found out that Deep State hacks Strzok and Pientka joked with Flynn and Flynn gave them a tour of his area before their discussion.

We also know today, according to Turley, that the FBI agents did not follow up or question Flynn on any of his statements during their discussion.

And according to the original 302 report that has not been released the agents believed Flynn was truthful with them.

This was all a set up. It was a hit on Mike Flynn.

Jonathan Turley: We do know that for some reason they were hunting for Flynn. They say quite clearly, “We intentionally didn’t remind him he’s got to be careful what he says to us. It can be a crime,” which they did with other witnesses. They skipped the protocols and went directly to him circumventing counsel from the White House. And then when he finally did say something that they thought was not accurate they didn’t raise it. They didn’t correct it. So the question is, why would they be hunting for Flynn at this point. That’s what’s not explained in any of these filings.

The actor was arrested Friday and charged with trying to arrange to have sex with a 13-year-old child on the internet. Within hours of Westmoreland's arrest, Disney announced it had severed all ties with the despicable actor. A spokesperson for Disney Channel said in a statement Friday night:

"Stoney Westmoreland, an actor, working on the series "Andi Mack," was arrested in Salt Lake City today. Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role, and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week."

Ironically, and also disturbingly, the age of the child victim, in this case, is the same age as the main characters of the young actors who star in "Andi Mack." Westmoreland was arrested where the show is filmed in Utah Friday, according to local news station KSL. Court documents reveal he was arrested for investigation of enticing a minor by Internet or text, which is a second-degree felony in the state. He was also charged with four counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor which are third-degree felonies.

According to an affidavit filed in Utah's 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City, Westmoreland had begun communicating online with a user who he knew was underage "on an Internet app used for dating and meeting people for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity." The affidavit did not say which app Westmoreland and the child were using.

Police say the actor asked the victim to engage in sexual acts with him and send nude photos of themselves. Westmoreland also sent pornographic images to the child, according to court documents.

For months proponents of the UN Migration Pact told us that the pact was non-binding. The response to the many citizens of nation states worldwide having signed country specific petitions was that it was non-binding so there was nothing to worry about, it was going to be good.

The immensely opposed and disastrous document declares unlimited migration to be treated as a human right, thereby deprecating the term ‘illegal migrants’, and criminalises any criticism of migration as hate speech.

The points that raised alarm for most was that it seeks to eliminate all forms of dissent. Media organisations for example, should they criticise anything to do with migration would lose access to state funding. People would be labelled as racists or guilty of hate speech which will now be criminalised. This pact will literally erase our borders.

The question I’ve been asking is if the countries that refused to sign, are they still bound to it being members of the UN. Most people were of the mind that it would only affect the signatories.

Now we know. In a frank exchange with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Hebner of the AfD drew out an admission that it is, in fact, legally binding. As well, that it will be adopted as rule for all UN Member states once enacted.

Mr. Hebner asks: “You can see for yourself clearly that during the conference, the spokesperson for Morocco emphasised that the agreement was legally binding. He said clearly, in a literal sense, that there is a corresponding legal bond for all nations taking part as well as an obligation of implementation. You and your delegation did not raise a single word of objection to that statement but idly accepted it. I would like to emphasise that the parliamentary motion was not presented at the conference. “

Ms. Merkel’s response not only confirmed what we at Voice of Europe have been suspecting all along, the claim it is indeed binding, but that once voted and accepted it will be valid for all:

“So then, during the UN General Assembly next week, the pact will once again be up for debate and a decision will be made on whether to accept it. At this time, a member state can demand a vote. When two-thirds of the represented countries agree then it is valid for all. That’s how majority decision-making works.”

The active volcano Popocatepetl, located in Central Mexico, has exploded Saturday evening, sending ash two kilometers into the air with the cloud of smoke moving in a northeast direction.
