How POTUS tweet CAPS ("BIG WAY") connect to 3 Q Drops

WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General William Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate,” a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Monday.

Barr appointed John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry, the person said. The person could not discuss the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

Durham’s appointment comes about a month after Barr told members of Congress he believed “spying did occur” on the Trump campaign in 2016. He later said he didn’t mean anything pejorative and was gathering a team to look into the origins of the special counsel’s investigation.

Barr provided no details about what “spying” may have taken place but appeared to be alluding to a surveillance warrant the FBI obtained on a former Trump associate, Carter Page, and the FBI’s use of an informant while the bureau was investigating former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.

Trump and his supporters have seized on both to accuse the Justice Department and the FBI of unlawfully spying on his campaign.

The inquiry, which will focus on whether the government’s methods to collect intelligence relating to the Trump campaign were lawful and appropriate, is separate from an investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general. The agency’s watchdog is also examining the Russia probe’s origins and Barr has said he expects the watchdog report to be done in May or June.

Congressional Republicans have also indicated they intend to examine how the investigation that shadowed Trump’s presidency for nearly two years began and whether there are any legal concerns.

The recently concluded investigation from special counsel Robert Mueller did not find a criminal conspiracy between the campaign and the Kremlin to tip the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Durham has previously investigated law enforcement corruption, the destruction of CIA videotapes and the Boston FBI office’s relationship with mobsters.

In addition to conducting the inquiry, he will continue to serve as the chief federal prosecutor in Connecticut.

Democratic California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a leading legal antagonist of President Donald Trump, isn’t legally eligible to serve as his state’s top law enforcement officer, according to a lawsuit working its way through the state’s courts.

After 24 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Becerra was appointed California attorney general on Jan. 24, 2017, replacing Democrat Kamala Harris, who was elected to the U.S. Senate. He won election to the position in his own right on Nov. 6, 2018.

Eric Early, a Los Angeles lawyer who sought the Republican nomination in 2018 in the attorney general race, argues in his lawsuit that Becerra is ineligible for the post because he wasn’t practicing law for close to five years prior to his appointment or election to the office. Early lost his case in the initial phase and filed an appeal last week.

“The state’s top legal officer should have at least a modicum of experience as a practicing lawyer,” Early told The Epoch Times in an interview.

“Instead, we have one who has no clue what it’s like to be a practicing lawyer,” he said. “We have ended up with a pure, wall-to-wall politician as our state top legal officer, so it has not been a surprise that since he became attorney general, his agenda has been entirely political.”

Education and early life

Durham graduated with honors from Colgate University in 1972.[5] Durham received a law degree in 1975 from the University of Connecticut School of Law.[1] After graduation, he was a VISTA volunteer for two years on an Indian reservation in Montana, after which he joined the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.[5]

Career

Amid allegations that FBI informants James "Whitey" Bulger and Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi had corrupted their handlers, US Attorney General Janet Reno named Durham special prosecutor in 1999. He oversaw a task force of FBI agents brought in from other offices to investigate the Boston office's handling of informants.[6]

In December 2000, Durham revealed secret FBI documents that convinced a judge to vacate the 1968 murder convictions of Enrico Tameleo, Joseph Salvati, Peter J. Limone and Louis Greco because they had been framed by the agency. In 2007, the documents helped Salvati, Limone, and the families of the two other men who had died in prison win a US$101.7 million civil judgment against the government.[6]

In 2002, Durham helped secure the conviction of retired FBI agent John J. Connolly Jr., who was sentenced to 10 years in prison on federal racketeering charges for protecting Bulger and Flemmi from prosecution and warning Bulger to flee just before the gangster's 1995 indictment.[6]

Durham's task force also gathered evidence against retired FBI agent H. Paul Rico who was indicted in Oklahoma on state charges that he helped Bulger and Flemmi kill a Tulsa businessman in 1981. Rico died in 2004 before the case went to trial.[6]

Durham also led a series of high-profile prosecutions in Connecticut against the New England Mafia and corrupt politicians, including former governor John G. Rowland.[6]

In 2008, John Durham was appointed by then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey to investigate the destruction of CIA videotapes of detainee interrogations.[7][8][9] On November 8, 2010, Durham closed the investigation without recommending any criminal charges be filed.[10] Durham's final report remains secret but was the subject of an unsuccessful lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act filed by The New York Times reporter Charlie Savage.[11]

In 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder appointed Durham to lead the Justice Department's investigation of the legality of CIA's use of so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques".[12]

In September 2009, University of Toledo law professor Benjamin G. Davis attended a conference where former officials of the Bush administration had told conferences participants shocking stories, and accounts of illegality on the part of more senior Bush officials.[13] Davis wrote an appeal to former Bush officials to take their accounts of illegality directly to Durham. In November 2011, Durham was included on The New Republic's list of Washington's most powerful, least famous people.[14]

It prompted viral guffaws from some and online outrage from others.

There are shot glasses commemorating the event and it birthed memes ahead of the annual Army-Navy game.

But the inside story of how an EA-18G Growler jet crew drew a penis across the clear blue skies of Washington state in 2017 has never been told.

Until now.

It was the work of two junior officers with the “Zappers” of Electronic Attack Squadron 130, who had sky time to kill and noticed that the white contrails their jet produced were particularly robust that afternoon.

But they never counted on those contrails lingering long enough for folks on the ground to see their phallic rendering, according to a copy of the military’s sky penis investigation obtained exclusively by Navy Times.

KREM 2, a local TV station, broke the news after a woman snapped pics of the sky drawings on Nov. 16, 2017, near a training area for the squadron, which is based in western Washington at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

“A mother who lives in Okanogan who took pictures of the drawings reached out to KREM 2 to complain about the images, saying she was upset she might have to explain to her young children what the drawings were,” the station reported.

The story of the sky penis took wing from there, spreading umbrage and juvenile glee to all corners of the internet.

It also prompted nervous commanders to file urgent communiques to Navy leadership back in Washington, D.C., letting them know that this was about to turn into a thing.

Within hours of the phallic rendering, the squadron sent an alert to higher ups in an “official information dispatch” that reached the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

“Aircrew maneuvered an EA-18G aircraft in a pattern that resulted in contrails depicting an obscene symbol when viewed from the ground,” it warned. “Media attention is expected.”

Flying as “Zapper 21,” the lieutenants responsible for the drawing took off from Whidbey with another jet at about noon that day, according to the investigation.

The squadron’s commanding officer would later praise the pilot as a shy introvert and “a ‘whiz kid’ who managed our training and readiness with higher efficiency and effectiveness than anyone else I have seen in a squadron,” according to the investigation.

His cockpit partner that day, an electronic warfare officer, or EWO, was “my best junior officer,” the CO noted.

What discipline the Zapper 21 duo faced remains unknown.

Citing privacy regulations, officials declined to provide such records, and all names are redacted in the report copy provided to Navy Times in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

With the new datasets, officials aim to improve the training process and enable computer vision systems to connect footage shot from cameras positioned across a broad geographic area.

“Further research in the area of computer vision within multi-camera video networks may support post-event crime scene reconstruction, protection of critical infrastructure and transportation facilities, military force protection, and in the operations of National Special Security Events,” IARPA officials wrote in the solicitation.

Under the solicitation, selected vendors would compile roughly 960 hours of video footage covering numerous different environments and scenarios.

The dataset must include footage from at least 20 different security cameras with “varying positions, views, resolutions and frame rates” scattered across roughly 2.5 acres of “urban or semi-urban space.” The videos would be shot all hours of the day and in different weather conditions, and include pedestrians, moving vehicles, street signs and other “distractors.”

The footage must also include at least 200 test subjects behaving in different ways across the camera network. Ultimately, these are the people the algorithms would focus on to sharpen their identification and tracking skills.

Interested vendors must respond to the solicitation by May 17.

BLUE ORIGIN UPGRADING NASA TEST STAND

Blue Origin and NASA announced an agreement that would allow the company to test two of its new rocket engines in Alabama.

On April 17, 2019, the U.S. space agency announced that Blue Origin is planning to upgrade and refurbish Test Stand 4670 at the Marshall Spaceflight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Blue Origin is expected to use the stand to evaluate its BE-4 and BE-3U engines.

“This test stand once helped power NASA’s first launches to the Moon, which eventually led to the emergence of an entirely new economic sector—commercial space,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Jim Morhard in a news release. “Now, it will have a role in our ongoing commitment to facilitate growth in this sector.”

Blue Origin is currently building a rocket engine factory in Huntsville. The use of the test stand would allow Blue to test its engines without having to truck them to its existing test facility in West Texas, near the town of Van Horn.

The company’s BE-4 engine is apart of a new class of rocket engines. Much like SpaceX’s Raptor engine, the BE-4 runs on liquid methane and liquid oxygen. The engine is being designed to power the first stage of two next-generation rockets: United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan and Blue Origin’s own New Glenn rockets.

The BE-3U is expected to be utilized in the second stage of New Glenn. It is a derivative of the BE-3, which powers Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. It consumes liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. The New Glenn upper stage will utilize two BE-3Us.

Secretive Israeli Company Uses WhatsApp Voice Calls To Install Spyware On Phones

With so much attention focused recently on constant consumer spying and privacy violations, erroneous or otherwise, by Amazon, Facebook and now Twitter, it is easy to forget that virtually other communication apps have the same purpose, and that's what one secretive Israeli company relied on when they used a vulnerability in the popular messaging app WhatsApp (owned by Facebook) to inject commercial Israeli spyware on to phones, the company and a spyware technology dealer said. What is unique is how the app was infected: with a simple phone call.

According to the FT, WhatsApp which is used by 1.5bn people worldwide, discovered in early May that attackers were able to install surveillance software on to both iPhones and Android phones by ringing up targets using the app’s phone call function. The malicious code, developed by the secretive NSO Group, a notorious and controversial Israeli hacking and surveillance tools vendor, could be transmitted even if users did not answer their phones, and the calls often disappeared from call logs.

It is unclear how many apps were infected with the spyware trojan, which could for example, allow anyone to get access to John Podesta's email password (and then blame say, Vladimir Putin for example) as WhatsApp is too early into its own investigations of the vulnerability to estimate how many phones were targeted using this method, although it is likely a substantial number. As late as Sunday, the FT reports that WhatsApp engineers were racing to close the loophole.

For those who thought that Alexa's constant eavesdropping was bad, this is even worse: NSO’s flagship product is Pegasus, a program that can turn on a phone’s microphone and camera, trawl through emails and messages and collect location data. It effectively opens up one's entire cellphone to the hacker, and to get "infected", one just needs to receive an inbound phone call without ever answering it.

Many people probably heard of NSO for the first time in December 2018, when a New York Times story that claimed the company helped Saudi Arabia spy on the Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi before he was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey in October of last year.

NSO advertises its products to Middle Eastern and Western intelligence agencies, and says Pegasus is intended for governments to fight terrorism and crime. NSO was recently valued at $1bn in a leveraged buyout that involved the UK private equity fund Novalpina Capital

Since the application is Israeli, its hardly a surprise that the spies' preferred targets were Middle Eastern: as the FT reports, in the past, human rights campaigners in the Middle East have received text messages over WhatsApp that contained links that would download Pegasus to their phones.

While Watkins couldn’t stop Google from delisting 8chan from its search results, people who wanted to find it still knew where to go.

But Watkins still needs an outside source of cash to pay for the servers, bandwidth, and staff that keep 8chan running. A significant source of the site’s funding is Amazon.

Attorney General Bill Barr Appoints Top Special Prosecutor to Investigate Origins of Spygate

US Attorney John Durham

Attorney General Bill Barr assigned top special prosecutor John Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia probe.

John Durham, a US Attorney in Connecticut will examine the origins of Spygate according to a new report by The New York Times, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

Mr. Durham, who was nominated by President Trump in 2017, has a history of investigating potential wrongdoing among National Security officials, reported the NY Times.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz is also investigating FISA abuses in a separate probe.

Bill Barr stunned the Democrat-media complex last month when he said “spying did occur” during the 2016 presidential election and vowed to get to the bottom of it.

“The question is whether it was adequately predicated. And I’m not suggesting that it wasn’t adequately predicated. But I need to explore that,” Barr said.

Barr opted to give a US Attorney the assignment rather than allow a special counsel to look into the origins of Spygate – a special prosecutor has more day-to-day oversight.

Obama and Hillary used the might of the US government and targeted the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

The FBI opened a series of illegal CI investigations into Trump officials and sent spies to various campaign volunteers such as George Papadopoulos and Michael Caputo.

Obama’s FBI and DOJ also obtained a FISA warrant and 3 subsequent renewals on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page – Hillary’s phony dossier was used by the FBI to spy on Carter Page.

It is widely believed the FBI also had a FISA warrant on George Papadopoulos over his work in the energy business with Israel.

This is precisely why the Democrats are attacking Bill Barr – House Democrats just voted to hold Bill Barr in contempt.
