Dr. Angelique Coetzee, the national chair of the South African Medical Association, was the first to discover a patient who had contracted this variant. Since then Coetzee has observed symptoms and responses to treatment for a cluster of patients who have also contracted the virus as well.

The Department of Justice on Monday refused Steve Bannon’s request for transparency and his right to unseal documents from the DOJ regarding the sham J-6 Committee investigation.

Fully Vaccinated Patients Show Mild Symptoms after Omicron Infection in Botswana — Non-Vaccinated Show No Symptoms at All

 

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the South African Medical Association debunked the hysteria over the Omicron COVID variant.

 

According to Angelique Coetzee, the chairwoman of the South African Medical Association who first raised the alarm of the new COVID variant, says the new variant known as the ‘Omicron’ causes “unusual but mild symptoms.”

 

On Monday, the Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness testified during a parliament hearing that not one of the Omicron variant cases identified needs oxygen support and hospitalization.

 

According to Assistant Minister Sethomo Lelatisitswe, Botswana has still 15 ‘Omicron’ variant cases, 3 of the patients showed mild symptoms while the rest did not. Of those 15 cases, 11 were vaccinated, while those 4 unvaccinated did not show symptoms at all, Lelatisitswe said.

 

The country recorded 19 cases of ‘Omicron’ variants in total. Four of those cases were foreign nationals on a diplomatic mission and left the country after their diagnosis.

Mr Speaker, as part of their routine genomic surveillance of SARS-COV-2, our local scientists detected this variant on four foreign nationals who had visited Botswana on a diplomatic mission earlier this month. At the conclusion of their mission in Botswana, the quartet tested positive for COVID-19 after conducting their pre-travel tests. Their COVID-19 variant was confirmed as B 1. 1. 529 on 24 November 2021, and has now been renamed Omicron.

 

Mr Speaker, following this development, contact tracing was immediately conducted and all contacts tested negative for the COVID-19. Further assessments and analysis of other positive COVID-19 samples have up to now produced 15 more cases of the new Omicron variant. This means that to date Botswana has recorded a total of 19 cases of the new variant. We continue to expand contact tracing to ensure that we do not leave any potential case undetected.

 

Mr Speaker, fourteen (14) of the nineteen (19) cases were reported in the Greater Gaborone DHMT area, four (4) are from the Serowe/Palapye DHMT area, while Kgatleng DHMT reported one (1) case. All cases reported by the Serowe/Palapye DHMT are truck drivers who were detected at a point of entry (Martins Drift), as part of COVID-19 screening strategy for arrivals. The case reported by Kgatleng DHMT was of an individual who resides in South Africa and had visited his family in Botswana, and tested as pre-travel test requirement. Given this short characterization, it appears to us that most of the 19 cases so far detected in Botswana are imported cases.

 

According to the latest update from the local news Mmgi, “the country’s COVID-19 cases however remain low with an update from the government this evening showing 602 active cases as at November 26. The country has thus far fully vaccinated 33.3 percent of adults, with 60.2 percent having received their first dose.”

A D.C. federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Justice Department to release four unredacted pages of the Mueller report that describe who was investigated, but not charged in the special counsel’s probe into alleged Trump-Russia campaign collusion.

 

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit found in favor of Buzzfeed and reversed a lower court’s decision to withhold the pages from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report that ultimately did not reveal sufficient evidence to charge former President Donald Trump with a crime.

 

The news outlet claims the pages have information on why an unnamed person, likely Donald Trump Jr., was not prosecuted for potential campaign finance violations. It also says the pages have details on people who were investigated, but not charged for making false statements, as well as insight into decisions that “appear” to relate to contacts between Mr. Trump and the Russian government.

 

“We determine after our own in camera review of the report that these passages show only how the government reached its declination decisions and do not contain new facts or stigmatizing material,” the 18-page opinion states.

 

Because the four redacted pages only have information that has already been made public in the report, the court wrote that the disclosure will not cause any “additional reputational or stigmatizing harm.”

 

“Disclosure would also show how the special counsel interpreted the relevant law and applied it to already public facts in reaching his declination decisions,” the opinion states.

 

The court also rejected the Justice Department’s argument that most of the report has already been disclosed and that Congress has released a substantial amount of information on the investigation.

 

“Those statements, in and of themselves, may be true but they are irrelevant to the fact that the special counsel’s legal analysis that led to the declination decisions has not been released and likely would ‘contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations or activities of the government,’” the opinion states.

 

The court, however, did deny Buzzfeed’s request for additional parts of the report to be made public that the news outlet says likely contain information on the decision not to charge Trump campaign officials with foreign agent offenses.

 

According to the ruling, those “sections include new facts that would be stigmatizing” to people who have not yet been publicly identified.

 

“Of the individuals whose privacy interests may be jeopardized by disclosure of the requested information, only one is a public official. The remaining individuals are private citizens who served on a presidential campaign,” the opinion states. ..
