CPR given to caddie at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

A caddie for an amateur player at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is reportedly recovering after the caddie collapsed midway through Friday’s second round and was given CPR before being taken away by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

In a statement, the PGA Tour said the caddie was working for one of the amateurs in the Max McGreevy-Beau Hossler pairing, while ESPN reporter Paolo Uggetti, who was at the event, wrote that the caddie was paired with businessman Geoff Couch. According to Uggetti, the incident happened on the fairway on the 11th hole at Pebble Beach, and play was stopped for nearly an hour.

As of Friday night, there was no immediate update on the caddie’s condition, though Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, who was also at the tournament, twice reported during the network’s coverage that the caddie was going to be OK. ESPN’s Uggetti also wrote that Lukas Nelson, a musician and the other amateur in the group, told him that the caddie was “doing better.”

The online encyclopedia had failed to delete “sacrilegious” content, Pakistan’s regulator said

Access to Wikipedia has been blocked in Pakistan after the platform failed to remove content deemed offensive, several news organizations reported on Friday, citing the country’s media regulator.

Malahat Obaid, spokesman for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), told Bloomberg that the agency was in contact with Wikipedia over the issue. Obaid was quoted as saying that access to the website would be restored if it complies with PTA’s demands.

The 1980s-vintage Leopard 1A5, designed and produced by Rheinmetall, isn’t the most modern tank in the world. But it’s roughly contemporaneous with the Leopard 2A4—and indeed shares many subsystems with its bigger, heavier cousin.

Most critically, the Leopard 1A5 has decent optics and fire-control and an effective main gun—the 105-millimeter Royal Ordnance L7. The Ukrainian army already is familiar with the L7, as the rifled gun also arms those 28 super-upgraded M-55S tanks that Slovenia donated last year.

The Ukrainians also are familiar with the Leopard 1’s hull, engine, transmission and suspension. The Ukrainian army operates 38 ex-German engineering vehicles that have Leopard 1 chassis.

The biggest weakness of the 40-ton, four-person Leopard 1A5 is that it’s thinly armored by modern standards. Additional armor protection, along with a bigger main gun, was the main requirement that drove the development of the 70-ton Leopard 2.

But there are hundreds of Leopard 1A5s in storage across Europe, including—and this is critical—a couple hundred in warehouses belonging to Rheinmetall and German arms firm FFG Flensburger. Both companies have kept the old tanks in good shape.

The Leopard 1s Germany has pledged to Ukraine will come from Rheinmetall’s holdings. Denmark meanwhile plans to buy at least 20, and potentially 40, Leopard 1s from FFG Flensburger for onward transfer.

All that is to say, Ukraine should get a whole brigade’s worth of Leopard 1s fast—potentially faster than it can piece together a brigade set of heavier Leopard 2s. And a lot faster than it will get its new, American-made M-1A2 tanks.

If Ukrainian tankers are smart, they’ll deploy their Leopard 1A5s in ways that leverage the tanks’ strengths while mitigating their weaknesses.

That means using the Leopard 1s as fire support for fast-moving mechanized infantry. When the infantry run into a Russian strongpoint, they’ll call in the tanks to put a few 105-millimeter rounds into the Russian position.

It means not sending the tanks into direct combat with Russian tanks, whose 125-millimeter main guns would punch right through the Leopard 1s’ thin armor.

The photos of the balloon's truss structure are a little puzzling. The power generation for the sensor package or payload is clearly solar, and there is quite a bit of it, but when you look at the payload at the center of the truss it's extremely small and the largest visible piece of it is a HF dish. Well, got to thinking about this last night and theres a few reasons as to why this thing didn't get shot out of the air while it was in Alaska never mind Montana.

The Military knows exactly what this thing is and what it's doing. If it is collecting data, mapping, listening and then transmitting this data back to the homeland the military could very well be allowing this 1. because the data that it is collecting outside of topography, is "bad data" that the military is feeding it and 2. If it is transmitting data then the military surely has the capability to jam it. Probably also have the capability to "fry" the innerds of whatever is inside the balloon making it useless.

UPS, FedEx partner airline agrees to buy 20 pilotless cargo planes in $134M deal

Ameriflight, a cargo airline that partners with shipping giants UPS, FedEx and DHL, has announced a $134 million deal to buy 20 autonomous aircraft from Natilus as part of its push to build the "air cargo network of the future."

The feeder services company based in Dallas said in a statement that the new planes will "aid in modernizing Ameriflight’s fleet and allow the offering of a high quality and differentiated product in a part of the industry seeing exponential growth."

"Natilus’ technology is at the forefront of autonomous innovation and provides a lower cost of operation, while remaining well suited in capabilities for the customers in our corner of the industry," said Ameriflight President and COO Alan Rusinowitz.

Ameriflight says "The Natilus fleet of carbon fiber, blended-wing-body designed cargo aircraft offer a 60% reduction to cost of operations and cuts carbon emissions by half.

"The Natilus Kona, which Ameriflight is eyeing, is a 3.8-ton payload short-haul feeder uncrewed aerial vehicle," it added. "It will be used to support the company’s increased business opportunities, primarily for Ameriflight’s expedited supply chain services."

The deal with Natilus, which is based in San Diego, is valued at $134 million, according to the website Freightwaves.

Natilus co-founder and CEO Aleksey Matyushev also told the news website that it expects to begin Kona flight tests late next year and customer deliveries by 2026.

Ameriflight says it has "grown from a small air charter and cargo service carrier to an international operator with 14 bases, 1,500 weekly departures, and 200 destinations," with "more than 500 employees including over 150 pilots and over 100 aircraft."
