The Royal Australian Mint has launched a $1 coin treasure hunt (Sunrise)

SPECULATION about a 2019 “time travelling” $1 coin caused confusion when it was discovered by some eagle-eyed Aussies this year and posted on social media.

But it turns out the forward-dated coin is part of a treasure hunt that the Royal Australian Mint officially launched on Thursday.

 

Royal Australian Mint chief executive officer Ross MacDiarmid said three million $1 coins had secretly been released in September each stamped with either an “A”, “U” or “S” underneath the body of the largest kangaroo.

 

If you look closely you’ll also see a tiny “35”, a nod to the $1 coin’s 35th anniversary next year.

 

The challenge for Australians is to find a $1 coin of each letter for the chance to win prizes.

 

Sites such as Reddit picked up on the strange appearance of coins stamped 2019 and there was speculation it could have been a blunder by the Mint.

 

However, the truth was revealed at a lunch in Sydney on Thursday.

 

Belting out his own version of the song (I’ve Got A) Golden Ticket from the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Mr MacDiarmid launched the Dollar Discovery competition with an appropriately nostalgic flair.

But the Mint is focusing on the benefits of cash, particularly in teaching children the value of money.

 

“How are we going to get people to understand financial literacy when they just swipe their card or actually just use a tap and go?” Mr MacDiarmid said.

 

According to a survey of 1000 people commissioned by the Mint, Mr MacDiarmid said most thought saving pocket money and collecting coins helped develop persistence and financial literacy, particularly among children.'''

 

As part of the major prize for the treasure hunt, eight winners from each state will get a trip to Canberra for four people, as well as the opportunity to visit the Mint for a private tour and to produce their own giant one kilogram silver coin. Officially the coin would be worth about $750 but being a collector’s piece, it is expected to be much more valuable.

 

Mr MacDiarmid told news.com.au there would be a unique design for the silver coin and that winners would be able to “press the button” to actually mint the coin.

 

The competition has been launched to mark the 35th anniversary of the $1 coin on May 14, 2019 and winners will be announced on this date.

The new health care law will provide around $1 trillion in subsidies to low- and middle-income

 

Americans over the next decade to help them pay for health insurance.

 

Johanna Humbert of Galien, Mich., was pleasantly surprised to discover that she qualifies for an insurance subsidy, since her current plan is being canceled. Humbert makes about $30,000 a year, so she'll get a subsidy of about $300 a month. The new plan is similar to her current one, but it will cost $250 — about half of what she pays now.

 

But where will the money come from to pay for subsidies like these?

 

On his show last Friday, liberal comedian Bill Maher called the Affordable Care Act a "Robin Hood" plan. "It does take from the rich to make better the poor," he said.

 

You can certainly make a case for that, says economist Joseph Antos of the American Enterprise Institute. "In a general sense, the rich, of course, subsidize the poor. The rich pay more income taxes," he says. "So, yes, absolutely, that's how subsidies are supposed to work."

 

So if you're a low-income person getting a tax credit from the U.S. Treasury to subsidize your health care, a big chunk of that credit is coming from taxes paid by the well-off.

 

The Cost Of Subsidies

 

But the authors of the Affordable Care Act didn't want the subsidies to become a drain on the Treasury and add to the deficits. So they included provisions designed to offset the cost of the subsidies.

 

MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, who helped develop the law, says about half the costs are offset by projected savings in Medicare payments to insurers and hospitals. Another quarter is offset by added taxes on medical-device makers and drug companies.

 

"The other source of revenue is a tax increase on the wealthiest Americans," he says. "Those families with incomes above $250,000 a year will now have to pay more in Medicare payroll taxes."

 

Those provisions actually make the bill a net positive for the federal budget, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. By the CBO's accounting, Obamacare will produce a surplus. Gruber says the law will "actually lower the deficit by about $100 billion over the next decade and by $1 trillion in the decade after."

 

However, many Republicans have expressed skepticism about those findings.

 

New Policy, New Marketplace

 

The subsidies do mean some low-income people will pay almost nothing for insurance, while higher-income people will pay the full market price.

 

Dentist Aaron McLemore of Louisville, Ky., makes more than $100,000 a year and doesn't qualify for any subsidy on the Obamacare exchange. The 31-year-old's current policy is being canceled. A new policy from the exchange will more than double his monthly premium and nearly double his yearly out-of-pocket maximum.

Still, Gruber, the MIT economist, says the model reflects the basic idea of insurance. "The notion of insurance is we're protected against risk," he says. "What that means is that [during] a period of time when we're healthy, we pay more in premiums than we collect in benefits. In those periods of time we're sick — and we all go through them — we collect more in benefits than we pay in premiums."

 

Young, healthy people subsidize older people, who are more likely to be sick. Of course, most of those younger folks will eventually become old folks and experience the same benefit.

I understand–this is not that new, but what IS new is Q's request to delve into MS-13, and there is nothing in response to that post since the request was made.

Also, I had heard 10 years ago that schizo (the kind so bad you hear voices) was caused by severe B vitamin deficiency and DHA deficiency. Well, B vitamin deficiency was the reason that we first started building the insane asylums in America.

When it was discovered that the mentally ill were simply low on B vitamins due to no longer fresh grinding flour, the Congress mandated the bread enrichment program by law.

Go look at any loaf of bread, and you will see the B vitamins put there by law to avoid "pellagra" which was the name of the mental illness. Add too much glutamate to "pellagra" and you get schizo. My guess is that the glutamate causes random firing of the auditory nerves at this point.

Each individual's name has to be connected to ancestors and descendants in a predictable mathematical manner

Can also go to FamilySearch.org, the LDS church's gigantic site, and import/read a ged file there, and it's free.

Noteworthy about Ancestry.com, however: other members can and very frequently upload photos and documents about individuals and attach them to the particular file. I've found multiple photos, death certificates, military pension apps, old letters, wills, you name it.

Ancestry isn't cheap, but I use it a great deal, and I don't do other hobbies.

look up recent work on Anti-Oxidant Defense System (AODS) insult theory of schizo. Gaining a lot of traction and the 1954 HOffer paper I posted on Adrenochrome was actually the landmark study for it. Light does not always travel in straight lines. Einstein predicted in his Theory of General Relativity that massive objects will deform the fabric of space itself. When light passes one of these objects, such as a cluster of galaxies, its path is changed slightly.

Hubble was the first telescope to resolve details within these multiple banana-shaped arcs. Since the amount of lensing depends on the total mass of the cluster, gravitational lensing can be used to ‘weigh’ clusters. This has considerably improved our understanding of the distribution of the ‘hidden’ dark matter in galaxy clusters and hence in the Universe as a whole. The effect of gravitational lensing also allowed a first step towards revealing the mystery of the dark energy.

 

As gravitational lenses function as magnification glasses it is possible to use them to study distant galaxies from the early Universe, which otherwise would be impossible to see.

When you are poisoned by any type of molecule, putting more molecules in your body does not help. You have to get the poison out. If it is fat soluble poison, do a tablespoon of DHA every day. Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) deleted more than 10,000 automated accounts posting messages that discouraged people from voting in Tuesday’s U.S. election and wrongly appeared to be from Democrats, after the party flagged the misleading tweets to the social media company. “We took action on relevant accounts and activity on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesman said in an email. The removals took place in late September and early October.

 

Twitter removed more than 10,000 accounts, according to three sources familiar with the Democrats’ effort. The number is modest, considering that Twitter has previously deleted millions of accounts it determined were responsible for spreading misinformation in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Yet the removals represent an early win for a fledgling effort by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, a party group that supports Democrats running for the U.S. House of Representatives. The DCCC launched the effort this year in response to the party’s inability to respond to millions of accounts on Twitter and other social media platforms that spread negative and false information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and other party candidates in 2016, three people familiar with the operation told Reuters.

 

While the prevalence of misinformation campaigns have so far been modest in the run-up to the Congressional elections on Nov. 6, Democrats are hoping the flagging operation will help them react quickly if there is a flurry of such messages in the coming days. The Tweets included ones that discouraged Democratic men from voting, saying that would drown out the voice of women, according to two of the sources familiar with the flagging operation. The DCCC developed its own system for identifying and reporting malicious automated accounts on social media, according to the three party sources.

 

The system was built in part from publicly available tools known as “Hoaxley” and “Botometer” developed by University of Indiana comThe collaboration with RoBhat has already led to the discovery of malicious accounts and posts, which were referred to social media companies and other campaign officials, DNC Chief Technology Officer Raffi Krikorian saidputer researchers. They allow a user to identify automated accounts, also known as bots, and analyze how they spread information on specific topics. “We made Hoaxley and Botometer free for anyone to use because people deserve to know what’s a bot and what’s not,” said Filippo Menczer, professor of informatics and computer science at the University of Indiana. The Democratic National Committee works with a group of contractors and partners to rapidly identify misinformation campaigns.

 

They include RoBhat Labs, a firm whose website says it has developed technology capable of detecting bots and identifying political-bias in messages. I see the dichotomy when it comes to cases such as these doctors enabling disorders.

 

But I lean towards personal freedoms.

 

A free society must have its fringes to remind itself of the dangers of its own tendencies.

 

I feel the same about drugs, and actually am very upset the west allows for these mounstrous transformations at the cost of a person's wealth but does not allow a person to decide to buy and use drugs to "make cosmetic changes to their brains".
