Around 590 A.D., Rome suffered a terrible plague causing many deaths. Pope St. Gregory the Great plead for the angelsโ€™ help to fight this epidemic. The pontiff celebrated Masses and tirelessly processed through Rome with prayers and incense.

St. Michael later appeared on top of the castle with his sword.

 

In the book The Golden Legend: Readings on the Saints, author Jacobus de Voragine writes:

 

โ€œThe plague was still ravaging Rome, and Gregory ordered the procession to continue to make the circuit of the city, the marchers chanting litanies. An image of the Blessed Mary ever Virgin was carried in the procession.โ€

 

โ€œAnd lo and behold! The poisonous uncleanness of the air yielded to the image as if fleeing from it and being unable to withstand its presence: the passage of the picture brought about a wonderful serenity and purity in the air. We are also told that the voices of the angels were heard around the image, singingโ€ฆโ€

 

โ€œThen the pope saw an angel of the Lord standing atop the castle of Crescentius, wiping a bloody sword and sheathing it. Gregory understood that that put an end to the plague, as, indeed, happened. Thereafter the castle was called the Castle of the Holy Angel.โ€

 

Pope St. Gregory the Great then built the St. Michael statue on top of the castle, representing his protection over Rome and the Church.

Shim came to Yahoo Finance fresh off a much better than expected fourth quarter earnings report Thursday evening. Shares did fall 15% today as the companyโ€™s fiscal 2021 outlook for billings growth let some on Wall Street down.

 

Shim says Slack has seen a nice uptick in free users amid the coronavirus outbreak. Zoom CFO Kelly Steckelberg told me the same thing a week ago. The question on the minds of many investors in both names โ€” and others like it in the workplace productivity spaceโ€” are whether free trials could be converted to paying customers across large organizations. Slack and Zoom are taking a cautious approach right now in trying to monetize these new customers, which are probably dealing with incredible stress on their businesses due to coronavirus. Itโ€™s the right thing to do.

 

But without question, the coronavirus situation has exposed tremendous flaws in how companies continue to operate in a tech laden 2020. Why are we still sending emails? Why are we still meeting face-to-face โ€” on different floors โ€” for almost every single meeting? Why are we spending so much money on coast-to-coast travel to meet people when a simple Zoom call would work just fine and save a ton of money?

The good habits we will have now gained from this wild covid-19 attack will see us too strong in future. Hand hygiene. Touching of own face hygiene. Consistent thorough cleaning of handled areas hygiene. What we should really be all doing anyway. I have always been on with my hand hygiene. But not enough. If I think of all the people approaching to shake hands and what not. I often get people say to me please I donโ€™t want a picture, just let me shake your hand. And Iโ€™m like yes friend thank you. As itโ€™s more efficient than taking a full picture. But itโ€™s too careless. And too frequent. Touching my own hand to my face as well. Too unaware of the frequency Iโ€™d do it. Until now. Iโ€™d train my ass off, to the point of low immunity. Itโ€™s inevitable with the intensity of the training. The immune system will be tested. Beijing to isolate all international travelers for 14 days

 

China has tightened checks on international travelers at Beijing airport and said it will centrally quarantine all arrivals at its capital, after new imported coronavirus cases surpassed locally transmitted infections for a second day. China, where the epidemic began in December, appears to now face a greater threat of new infections from outside its borders as it continues to slow the spread of the virus domestically. Mainland China reported 20 new cases of infections on March 14, up from 11 cases a day earlier, data from by the National Health Commission (NHC) showed on Sunday. Of those, 16 were imported, including 5 in the capital Beijing. Three of the cases in Beijing involved travelers from Spain while one came from Italy and the other from Thailand. Against this background, the Beijing government has said anyone arriving from abroad will be transferred to city quarantine facilities for 14 days, starting Monday.

All expenses during the period will be borne by those in quarantine, city deputy Secretary-General Chen Bei said.

Some may be allowed to quarantine themselves at home after strict evaluation, Chen added, without offering details. People who falsely report information, conceal a disease or cause the spread of the epidemic will be punished according to the regulations, she cautioned. Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, urged Beijing residents to not travel abroad to reduce the chances of infection. Those currently abroad who have been in contact with infected people or show signs of infection should seek treatment where they are and not return with symptoms, she said.

 

Beijing has redirected all international flights that were scheduled to land at its new Daxing International Airport to Beijing Capital International Airport, and as of Sunday has cordoned off a special area to process these passengers, the state-backed Beijing News reported. Storm hitting California with up to 6 feet of snow possible

 

A large and potent storm system on the West Coast is already bringing very heavy snow to the northern and central California Mountains in what looks to be the most significant storm so far this season for parts of the state.

 

Since there is a good amount of instability in parts of the region, snowfall rates could be quite intense with locally up to 4 inches per hour possible this morning. This will make any travel in the region extremely dangerous.

 

Heavy rain is also starting to spread down the coast with localized flash flooding possible. Additionally, gusty winds over 40 mph will be possible in parts of central and southern California as the storm slides into the region.

 

The heaviest bands of rain will move southward towards Southern California Sunday night and into Monday, with locally 2 to 4 inches of rainfall possible. Heavy snow will continue for the Sierra through Monday as some snow also will develop in some of the southern California mountains.

 

The precipitation should decrease in coverage on Tuesday as the system moves deeper into the intermountain west. Locally, 4 to 6 feet of mountain snow will be possible in the northern and central California mountain range and 2 to 4 inches of rain will be possible in the California coast. Up to a foot of snow will be possible in the Southern California mountains.

 

As we head into the middle of the week, this storm will begin to interact with another storm that in the central U.S.

 

Late Tuesday and into Wednesday, there will be two distinct areas of unsettled weather. One being heavy rain and thunderstorms in the central U.S., especially the southern plains, as well as regions of rain and mountain snow in the intermountain west.

 

Then on Thursday, a more prevalent storm system will take shape with widespread mountain snow from Montana to New Mexico and heavy rain and strong storms for the plains and Midwest.

He seems to be really flustered about the idea that he was given the power to unilaterally close about 50 polling stations and to announce that voters would be allowed to vote at any of the remaining 150 polling stations. He really tried to promote the idea that there would be robust disinfecting measures available. But I think he realized he couldn't face the obvious scrutiny that was coming when he was done speaking and had to face questions from the reporters.

The Clinton request comes in Judicial Watchโ€™s lawsuit that seeks records concerning โ€œtalking points or updates on the Benghazi attackโ€ (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:14-cv-01242)). Judicial Watch famously uncovered in 2014 that the โ€œtalking pointsโ€ that provided the basis for Susan Riceโ€™s false statements were created by the Obama White House. This Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit led directly to the disclosure of the Clinton email system in 2015.

 

On March 3, 2020, Judge Lamberth granted Judicial Watchโ€™s request to depose Clinton about her emails and Benghazi attack documents. The court also ordered the deposition of Mills and two other State Department officials. Additionally, the court granted Judicial Watchโ€™s request to subpoena Google for relevant documents and records associated with Clintonโ€™s emails during her tenure at the State Department.

 

In December 2018, Judge Lamberth first ordered discovery into whether Secretary Clintonโ€™s use of a private email server was intended to stymie FOIA; whether the State Departmentโ€™s intent to settle this case in late 2014 and early 2015 amounted to bad faith; and whether the State Department has adequately searched for records responsive to Judicial Watchโ€™s request. The court also authorized discovery into whether the Benghazi controversy motivated the cover-up of Clintonโ€™s email. The court ruled that the Clinton email system was โ€œone of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency.โ€ The State and Justice Departments continued to defend Clintonโ€™s and the agencyโ€™s email conduct.

 

Judge Lamberth overruled Clintonโ€™s and the State and Justice Departmentโ€™s objections to limited additional discovery by first noting:

 

Discovery up until this point has brought to light a noteworthy amount of relevant information, but Judicial Watch requests an additional round of discovery, and understandably so. With each passing round of discovery, the Court is left with more questions than answers.

 

Additionally, Judge Lamberth said that he is troubled by the fact that both the State Department and Department of Justice want to close discovery in this case:

 

[T]here is still more to learn. Even though many important questions remain unanswered, the Justice Department inexplicably still takes the position that the court should close discovery and rule on dispositive motions. The Court is especially troubled by this. To argue that the Court now has enough information to determine whether State conducted an adequate search is preposterous, especially when considering Stateโ€™s deficient representations regarding the existence of additional Clinton emails. Instead, the Court will authorize a new round of discoveryโ€ฆ

 

With respect to Clinton, the court found that her prior testimony, mostly through written sworn answers, was not sufficient:

 

The Court has considered the numerous times in which Secretary Clinton said she could not recall or remember certain details in her prior interrogatory answers. In a deposition, it is more likely that plaintiffโ€™s counsel could use documents and other testimony to attempt to refresh her recollection. And so, to avoid the unsatisfying and inefficient outcome of multiple rounds of fruitless interrogatories and move this almost six-year-old case closer to its conclusion, Judicial Watch will be permitted to clarify and further explore Secretary Clintonโ€™s answers in person and immediately after she gives them. The Court agrees with Judicial Watch โ€“ it is time to hear directly from Secretary Clinton.

 

โ€œThis desperate act is yet another attempt by the Clinton machine to delay truth and accountability for her email conduct and how it impacted the peopleโ€™s โ€˜right to knowโ€™ under FOIA,โ€ stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

There is a precedent for "drain the swamp" that is quite appropriate.

In the early late 1800s, there was a portion of Washington DC known as Swampoodle that was a swampy, rural part of the city occupied by hoodlums.

"The neighborhood gained a reputation for being a lawless shantytown, where crime, prostitution, drunkenness were rife during and after the Civil War."

It was replaced by Union Station in 1907.
