In most matters we are to respect and obey civil laws and ordinances, and we are to do it ungrudgingly. Even when conscience leaves us no alternative but to disobey human authority, we do so with respect and with willingness to suffer whatever penalties or consequences may result.

Furthermore, “brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all on account of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved” (vv. 21–22).

Persecution is not cause for rebellion but for patient endurance and righteousness. It is not that a Christian should seek persecution or should not try to escape it when possible. Persecution in itself has no spiritual value. Therefore, “whenever they persecute you in this city,” Jesus went on to say, “flee to the next” (v. 23).

Regardless of the failures of government—many of them immoral, unjust, and ungodly—Christians are to pray and live peaceful lives that influence the world by godly, selfless living, not by protests, sit-ins, and marches, much less by rebellion. Like the prophets of the Old Testament, we have both the right and the obligation to confront and oppose the sins and evils of our society, but only in the Lord’s way and power, not the world’s. In this way, says Paul, our living is “good and profitable for men” (Titus 3:8), because it shows them the power of God in salvation. They see what a person saved from sin is like.

We are to submit to authority with the only exception being submitting to something that violates God’s laws. If we get punished for refusing to submit to worldly authority because they command us to do something against God’s laws, then we are to accept whatever punishment they choose to dole out but we know we have done right before God. Cheetah helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh: An Indian Army helicopter crashed near the Mandala hills area of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. Search operations are on to find missing pilots. Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence Guwahati, told news agency ANI that an Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter was out on an operational sortie and reportedly lost contact with the air traffic control (ATC) at around 09:15 am today.

Lt Col Rawat said, “An Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh was reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 09:15 am today. It is reported to have crashed near Mandala, West of Bomdila. Search parties have been launched.”

Going ahead, Arunachal Pradesh Police said that an Army chopper lost contact midway and could not be located while on its way to Missamari from Senge village. The local police added villagers from the Bangjalep area informed them of a helicopter crash at around 12:30 pm.

CHICAGO – The Federal Reserve announced that the FedNow Service will start operating in July and provided details on preparations for launch.

The first week of April, the Federal Reserve will begin the formal certification of participants for launch of the service. Early adopters will complete a customer testing and certification program, informed by feedback from the FedNow Pilot Program, to prepare for sending live transactions through the system.

Certification encompasses a comprehensive testing curriculum with defined expectations for operational readiness and network experience. In June, the Federal Reserve and certified participants will conduct production validation activities to confirm readiness for the July launch.

"We couldn't be more excited about the forthcoming FedNow launch, which will enable every participating financial institution, the smallest to the largest and from all corners of the country, to offer a modern instant payment solution," said Ken Montgomery, first vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and FedNow program executive. "With the launch drawing near, we urge financial institutions and their industry partners to move full steam ahead with preparations to join the FedNow Service."

Many early adopters have declared their intent to begin using the service in July, including a diverse mix of financial institutions of all sizes, the largest processors, and the U.S. Treasury.

In addition to preparing early adopters for the July launch, the Federal Reserve continues to engage a range of financial institutions and service providers to complete the testing and certification program and implement the service throughout 2023 and beyond. Montgomery noted that availability of the service is just the beginning, and growing the network of participating financial institutions will be key to increasing the availability of instant payments for consumers and businesses across the country.

The FedNow Service will launch with a robust set of core clearing and settlement functionality and value-added features. More features and enhancements will be added in future releases to continue supporting safety, resiliency and innovation in the industry as the FedNow network expands in the coming years.

On September 11, 2022, Breitbart News pointed out that Visa caved to pressure from gun control groups and New York Democrats, agreeing to flag gun and ammo purchases via a new merchant category (MCC) code. The Associated Press observed that Mastercard and other major credit card companies also agreed to flag gun sales.

On March 2, 2023, Breitbart News noted that Discover was slated to begin tracking gun and ammunition purchases with the new MCC code in April 2023. This news created a feeling of momentum for the left countered by a wave of pushback among conservatives.

On March 9, 2023, Breitbart News reportedthat Visa and Mastercard pivoted amidst the pushback and that the two credit card giants announcedthey would not begin tracking gun and ammunition purchases anytime soon.

On March 10, 2023, Money.com indicatedDiscover was hitting the brakes as well, and would not begin tracking gun purchases in April as planned.

In a joint press release, Sens. Menendez and Warren reacted to the credit card companies’ decisions by urging the DOJ and Treasury to intervene and “provide guidance” for financial institutions to adopt the new MCC code and track gun and ammunition purchases.

We urge Treasury and DOJ to quickly publish any policy advisory, enforcement guidance, and other materials needed by financial institutions, retailers, and law enforcement as the new MCC code is implemented for gun and ammunition stores. … We also ask Treasury, with input from the DOJ, to issue guidance to financial institutions regarding circumstances that should prompt financial firms to file a suspicious activity report about transactions they suspect are related to trafficking in firearms, money laundering proceeds from trafficking in firearms, or other criminal activity.

On August 28, 2022, Breitbart News pointed out that the pressure for credit card companies to track gun and ammo sales was not the result of a grassroots groundswell but of a campaign by Gabby Giffords’ gun control group, Giffords, which was urging major credit companies to flag such purchases via a new MCC code.

A recent investigation by STAT News found that AI algorithms have influenced how Medicare insurers deny insurance to patients. In some cases, insurers cut off benefits for elderly patients because the AI says they should be better, ignoring what human doctors have to say about the patient’s condition.

STAT News reports that as AI continues to become integrated into various industries, its impact on the healthcare sector is starting to become apparent. A recent investigation by STAT has revealed that AI’s influence onMedicare Advantage insurersmay be driving denials to unprecedented levels, affecting millions of older Americans who rely on the taxpayer-funded program.

In one striking example, Frances Walter, an 85-year-old Wisconsin woman with a broken left shoulder and an allergy to painkillers, was expected to make a quick recovery by the algorithm, which didn’t factor in the opinion of her human doctor. Her Medicare Advantage insurer, Security Health Plan, followed the algorithm’s estimate and cut off payment for her care after 17 days, even though she still required assistance. As a result, Walter had to spend her life savings and enroll in Medicaid to continue her treatment.

The STAT investigation found that health insurance companies are increasingly using unregulated predictive algorithms to determine when to stop payments for older patients’ treatments. While the insurers claim that these tools are merely suggestive, in practice, they often serve as hard-and-fast rules that don’t account for individual circumstances or changes in a patient’s conditions.(Insurers are lying, they bully and demand the FDA and CDC influence all medical decisions. Hospital administrators push death by overriding doctors. It’s more profitable)

As more Americans over 65, and those with disabilities, choose plans with lower premiums and prescription drug coverage, Medicare Advantage has grown significantly more profitable for insurers. These plans, however,give insurers more discretion to limit and refuse services. The last ten years have seen the emergence of a new industry focused on using AI to predict patient discharge dates from hospitals, doctor types, and therapy hours. Insurers have even acquired companies specializing in these predictive tools.

The increasing reliance on AI algorithms to make crucial decisions about patient care is raising concerns among medical professionals and patient advocates. In many cases, the algorithms’ recommendations conflict with basic rules on what Medicare plans must cover, creating heated disputes between doctors and insurers and often delaying treatment for seriously ill patients.

TheFDA assesses the AI modelsused by doctors to identify diseases like cancer or recommend the best treatment. In contrast, the tools used by insurers to decide whether to pay for those treatments are not subjected to the same scrutiny, despite their influence on the care of the nation’s sickest patients.

Doctors and medical administrators report that Medicare Advantage payment denials for services that are regularly covered by traditional Medicareare happening more frequently. Insurers like UnitedHealthcare and others claim they discuss a patient’s care with providers before denial, however, many service providers claim that when they ask for explanations, they are met with blank looks and denials of their requests for more details.(Trust me UHC is the worst, sued by many states for cheating Medicare and Medicaid)

“They say, ‘That’s proprietary,'” said Amanda Ford, who facilitates access to rehabilitation services for patients following inpatient stays at Lowell General Hospital in Massachusetts. “It’s always that canned response: ‘The patient can be managed in a lower level of care.'”

The lack of regulation and oversight of these predictive algorithms raises concerns about the impact on patient care and treatment access. As the influence of these tools continues to grow, the precise role they play in insurers’ decisions remains opaque. This raises important questions about the ethical use of AI in healthcare and the potential consequences for vulnerable patients who depend on Medicare for their medical needs.

ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany announced Wednesday it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Under a Chapter 11 status, this means all legal actions against the diocese will pause, including lawsuits involving St. Clare's pensioners.

The diocese contends that the St. Clare's crisis was not the reason for filing under Chapter 11.

In a statement, Bishop Edward Scharfenberger pointed to the Child Victims Act resulting in large settlements, leaving insurance coffers depleted.

"I hope that financial outcomes through reorganization bring some degree of peace and a sense that some aspect of justice has been accomplished," the bishop said.

The bishop says the diocese has settled more than 50 sexual abuse claims so far. More than 400 were filed as a result of the CVA.

"We're at a point right now where the next steps seems to be to do this. We don't see any other alternative, and unfortunately, we know it's expensive. It can be time consuming. But, it seems to be the best way to protect everyone. I said from day one that my desire is to get, I realize that, that money cannot possibly compensate survivors of sexual abuse and I continue to apologize to anyone that has suffered so unjustly by this scourge," the bishop said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement the diocese said the bankruptcy filing does not affect parishes and Catholic schools are separately incorporated under New York State’s Religious Corporations Law.
