"The Ghislaine Remixes" is a collection of audio/visual artworks I've started creating out of raw content that I recorded of Ghislaine Maxwell back in February 2014. At that time, I was working on another short promotional video - that one was for Ghislaine's ocean-focused non-profit the TerraMar Project.

As I state in this piece, I was convinced at the time that Ghislaine was a real environmental activist. (She had the UN fooled too, you might remember).

Having read and watched and heard all the testimonials of all the various victims and former friends and associates of Ghislaine, it's been painful for me to realize how I was duped by this self-serving predator. After watching documentaries about her life and interviewed about my own brief experiences with Ghislaine, I view her as very complex and disturbing character - cunning, desperate, damaged, ruthless and tragic, all at once.

I've tried to incorporate these elements into this work. I hope you enjoy it.

This 3-part piece of video art expresses the process I went through in my work with Ghislaine Maxwell.

Part 1 "The Smell of the Ocean Spray" is a simple black and white shot of Ghislaine walking on the beach, which she did to give me some b-roll for the short promo video I made for her TerraMar Project in 2014. The voice-over is Ghislaine expressing her professed love for the ocean. Because she oddly showed up for this shoot in stiletto heels, which ended up looking pretty ridiculous, this footage was never used in the promo spot.

Part 2 "A Sea Change for Ghislaine" is a psychedelic, surf-inspired instrumental piece I composed in response to learning about Ghilslaine's horrifying abuse of girls and young women. For me it represents not just a change in my perception of her, but also the massive change Ghislaine has undergone since the world learned of her complicity and participation in Jeffrey Epstein's crimes. (Also a slogan for her TerraMar Project was "Sea Hope, Sea Change, Sea Future.")

Part 3 "I Love the Boats" is the most complex and nuanced segment of this work. In this one I've added in lots of elements that have nothing to do with the original content I produced when making the TerraMar Promo. There are ocean predators, teenage girls, sea birds, jets and boats woven into the fabric of the story, along with a haunting photo of a boat called The Lady Ghislaine. Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine's father, named this boat after her, a solid confirmation of her reputation as his favorite child. He mysteriously died by falling off that boat, alone. No one knows exactly how that happened, but Ghislaine's family says she is the only one of them who believes that he was murdered. What I find extremely strange is that Ghislaine, who is said to have deeply loved her father, decided to create a nonprofit to protect the ocean. The ocean that took her father away.

Here are the words used in this video - first as I recorded them with Ghislaine and then the way I remixed them to tell a story that is to me more true:

All audio & video recordings of Ghislaine Maxwell used to make this song are the real deal. 100% authentic. I met her very briefly in 2014 at an eco-conference where she was a featured speaker. Sadly, I actually believed at the time that Ghislaine launched her TerraMar Project to protect our oceans, which are in fact in real trouble. As a result, I unwittingly helped this predator with her nonprofit, motivated by my love of the natural world & concern for future generations. I shot and edited a 45-sec promo to encourage people to sign her "Ocean Pledge." As least I didn't raise any money for her - or take any, for that matter.

Twitter blue checks across the Northeast are utterly divorced from the reality of pandemic life in the rest of the country.

Omicron is here, and with it comes death and destruction — unless, that is, you cancel Christmas, hide in your homes, get all the boosters, double mask, and demand to see negative Covid tests and proof of vaccination for anyone who darkens your doorstep. Any precautions, no matter how seemingly outlandish, are seen as justifiable to protect yourself from this new and terrifying variant.

So it is, anyway, with a disturbingly large number of reporters and commentators in the corporate press, whose coverage and individual responses to Covid have become increasingly divorced from that of the rest of America. To watch CNN or read The New York Times, you’d think omicron was the most deadly strain of the virus to date, poised to overwhelm hospitals and leave a trail of death behind it.

The reality, which most Americans have readily grasped, is just the opposite: Omicron appears to be the least dangerous strain of the virus yet. After five weeks of omicron’s spread in South Africa, where the variant first appeared, the news is encouraging: mild to nonexistent symptoms, hospitalization rates nine times lower than previous surges, and extremely low rates of severe illness and death even though only about a quarter of the population is vaccinated. Here in the United States, only one person has died from the omicron variant thus far, even though omicron cases accounted for nearly three-quarters of new infections nationwide last week.

Rather than return to lockdowns and school closures — to say nothing of canceling holiday gatherings — there’s every reason to believe we’ll be able to weather this surge with minimal disruption.

Unless you’re a member of legacy media. Text messages between two FBI officials reveal that former FBI Director Andrew McCabe waited at least a month before informing Congress or then-FBI Director James Comey about newly found emails in the Hillary Clinton email investigation during the fall of 2016.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that it had obtained text messages between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page that showed McCabe knew of thousands of new emails pertaining to the private email server Clinton used at the State Department on or before Sept. 28, 2016 — a month before Comey informed Congress about the emails on Oct. 28.

McCabe's apparent inaction on the emails, which were found on the laptop of disgraced New York Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) during his sex crimes investigation, is the subject of an FBI inspector general investigation, which seeks to discover whether McCabe withheld the information from the public for political reasons.

The text message in question was sent by controversial FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from the investigation into Russia's election meddling after it was revealed he had sent texts allegedly revealing political bias against the president.

“Got called up to Andy’s earlier,” Strzok wrote in a Sept. 28 text, which continued: “hundreds of thousands of emails turned over by Weiner’s atty to sdny, includes a ton of material from spouse. Sending team up tomorrow to review … this will never end ….”

In September of 2016, investigators searching a laptop belonging to Weiner discovered thousands of emails related to Clinton's private email server used during her time at the State Department. The emails were a result of the device being used for work by Huma Abedin, Weiner's wife and a close aide to Clinton.

Clinton supporters have long argued that the FBI's late decision to reopen the former secretary of State's email investigation swung the election to now-President Trump, while the president's supporters have argued that FBI officials let Clinton off without charges due to political bias.

McCabe resigned on Monday after weeks of pressure from Republicans over his handling of the Russia investigation. The White House denied ordering McCabe to resign at a press briefing the same day.

“I can say that the president wasn’t a part of this decisionmaking process,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
