The lockdown will begin on Friday and include the Jewish New Year. Israel is reported to be the first country to impose such a measure on a national level.

 

"There are detailed regulations that the government will approve in the next two days," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a briefing after the vote, as reported by The Jerusalem Post. "I know these steps will take a heavy toll, that this is not the holiday we are used to, and that we will certainly not be able to celebrate with the whole family." Netanyahu has been previously criticized for his response to the pandemic, including reopening the economy too quickly.

The measures during the lockdown include: not having more than 10 people congregating indoors, while groups of 20 are permitted outside; schools and shopping centers will be closed; citizens cannot go beyond 500 meters from home except for traveling to work; and non-governmental businesses and offices can remain open but not take in patrons.

 

The decision drew criticism from some members of Netanyahu's cabinet who argued that a nationwide lockdown would hurt Israel's economy. Among those officials were Science and Technology Minister Izhar Shay, Economy Minister Amir Peretz, and Tourism Minister Asaf Zamir, who said that "a full closure of the entire country during the holidays is too extreme a step and has economic implications that entire industries will not recover from."

 

"Hundreds of thousands of employees and the self-employed are in existential anxiety. The economic coronavirus pandemic is no less severe than the health pandemic," said Peretz.

Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, begins on September 27.

 

Before the government vote, Housing Minister Yaakov Litzman announced his resignation to protest against the lockdown measures. He also threatened to pull the ultra-Orthodox Jewish party that he leads out of the governing coalition, BBC News reported.

 

"My heart is with the thousands of Jews who come to synagogue once a year and this year won't come at all due to the lockdown," wrote Litzman in his resignation letter. "I warned against a lockdown during the holidays in every possible forum and emphasized that if there is a need for a full lockdown, it should not wait for a rise of infection to get to this pace."

 

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein remarked that while he should be happy about the decision, he's not. "For three months, I tried to do everything to allow us to live life alongside the coronavirus and keep the number [of sick patients] at levels the health system could live with," Edelstein said, as quoted by The Jerusalem Post. The Health Ministry also experienced criticism from those within the government over its handling of the pandemic.

 

But another cabinet official, Interior Minister Areyh Deri, backed the measures. As reported by the Times of Israel, Deri said he supports a general lockdown as opposed to localized closures in the cities.

 

According to Johns Hopkins University's tracker, as of Sunday afternoon, Israel has approximately 154,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, including more than 1,108 deaths. A recent report from the country's coronavirus information center said that the growing rate of infections is bringing hospitals to maximum capacity.

 

Newsweek reached out to Israel's government press office for additional comment.

One more thing that strikes me. They are too clean. The gloves and helmet on right end sally are basically brand new. Check out the bottoms of their pants. 'This is not just an economic thing': Flight Centre CEO lashes Queensland border restrictions

 

Flight Centre's CEO has criticised harsh Queensland border restrictions, arguing that a side effect of economic damage will be the mental and physical health of owners.

In your area you may have to learn it to get a job, however I'd suggest C++ since you can usually get away with C for most of it. Personally speaking I have gotten away with not coding more than a few hundred lines of C++ in the past 10 years.

The picture was taken in the afternoon. You can tell from the shadow from the tree behind them. This is the northern hemisphere so shadows are always on the northern side of the object that casts them. If they are to the south of the tree then east is to image right. The shadow of the tree points to that side therefore the sun is to the west meaning afternoon.

 

Also, check out the sky. There is no active fire in their vicinity, too little smoke. From the ridge line in the background a fire has moved past here (to the north) but is now some distance away (the smoke that is visible is grey, it would be brown to orange if it were close). I don't know how long retardant stays on the surface of the dirt like that so I can't say how long after the fire this was taken.

‘Didn’t do anything wrong’: Oregon Fire Marshal explains resignation

 

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon Fire Marshal Jim Walker was placed on paid administrative leave Saturday. Then just hours later, he resigned, according to the Oregon State Police.

 

OSP did not immediately provide a reason for Walker’s departure. However, Walker spoke with KOIN 6 News Saturday evening during which he said he was placed on leave by OSP Superintendent Travis Hampton after trying to help a co-worker whose family was missing in a fire zone.

 

“I did so with the specific understanding that my visit had been cleared with the appropriate team personnel,” said Walker. He said after, Hampton’s assessment was that he had overstepped his role and took action without the authority to do so.

 

“And although I’m losing my job because of it, I would do it again,” said Walker. He said he was an at-will employee, so he could “be dismissed for any reason whatsoever.”

 

“I didn’t do anything wrong that would lead to me resigning,” said Walker. “My take is, if I don’t have confidence from management, then it’s not an agency I want to continue to work for.”

 

He said it was a difficult decision to make at this particular time as wildfires grip the state. Walker has worked for the State Fire Marshal’s Office since 2009.

Guy on the left has chaps on so I'm guessing he would be the operator and the guy in the middle looks like he has communication equipment on his back. The kid on the right is super scrawny and my guess is it's one of their sons and his whole purpose is to carry the gear needed for operating a chainsaw. He should have chainsaw oil on him/her but I don't see any. These three would be fairly easy to identify in another photo just based on their gear and bodies sizes.

Regarding Q's post noting Grassley's "Corn" twat. Most of us are aware that Comey was misidentified in reams of government documents as Corney. Well, I think that when our government officials are posting "Corn" messages, some of them are trolling Comey. I don't think it’s “equal blame”.

 

We are told that God told Adam don’t eat of the fruit. Eve tells the serpent they’re not to eat of the fruit, or touch the tree - an addition God didn’t tell Adam.

 

Adam probably told Eve what God told him, adding the don’t even touch the tree on his own. This addition provided an opening for the serpent. In raising the question I’d wager Eve touched the tree for a second and waited to see what happened. When nothing happened she probably felt emboldened to eat of the fruit.

 

It also says they their eyes weren’t opened until Adam ate of it. Probably for the same reason - he didn’t see anything happen when she ate of it and felt safe enough to partake himself.

 

The blame is 70 / 30. Adam added to what God said (probably with good intentions - telling her not to even touch the tree will help avoid the temptation or something), didn’t rebuke the serpent (man was given dominion over all the creatures), and directly disobeyed God by eating of it himself.

Coronavirus Victoria: ‘Youngest victim’ may have died from other cause

 

Victoria’s State Coroner is investigating if there was “another reason” behind the death of a man in his 20s, considered our youngest COVID-19 victim.

 

The death of a man in his 20s, considered Australia’s youngest COVID-19 victim, has not been included in the national toll and a coroner is investigating if it was from another cause.

 

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced the young man’s death exactly one month ago.

 

“We are talking about – we believe – the youngest person that has died of this virus, or at least with this virus,” Mr Andrews said on August 14.

 

“That’s the other issue that would need to be teased out.”

 

The person given that responsibility was Victorian State Coroner Judge John Cain who has classified the case as a “reportable death”.

In 1913, an African farmer found something out of the ordinary in Boskop, Africa. It would end up being known as the Boskop Man. The remnants of an ancient, abnormally large skull would send the anthropology community spinning.

There is the possibility, as pointed out by Gary Lynch and Robert Granger, that such levels of intelligence and self awareness had no real benefit in 10,000 BC, when survival was dependent on particular physical characteristics.

The great genius of civilization is that it allows individuals to store memory and operating rules outside of their brains, in the world that surrounds them. To this day, there is no settled science to confirm why the Boskop people went extinct. Speculations about the genetic mutations that created them are as perplexing as the reasons for their disappearance. since the moon DOES rotate on its axis, EVERY side of the moon faces the sun as it does. the lunar day is 14 earth days long, and the lunar night is 14 earth days long. the same side of the moon always faces earth, SOMETIMES it is lit by the sun (full moon), and SOMETIMES it is dark (new moon) because it is facing away from the sun.

Wrong, there is a far side of the moon that is always facing away from earth, but it is not constantly in darkness. Think about a crescent moon, which occurs when MOST of the sunlight is facing the far side.

 

Also consider total solar eclipses, which happen when the moon blocks out the sun, so how could the far side be all dark?

“After a complaint and evaluation of data on the operation and financial management of private entities operating in the field of immigration policy, audits were carried out in five Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs),” the National Transparency Authority said.

In the coming days, the activities of ten additional NGOs whose activities have been deemed of interest to the authority will be reviewed.

Pro-migration NGOs working across southern Europe have repeatedly been accused of working alongside human traffickers to realize their political objectives.

Yes, and this is key! Just like our moon has one side facing us at all times, the Earth had one side facing our sun. Should give area's to look, then flight tracks to find a ground position, lots of identifiable items there to locate.

I had extreme abdominal pain twice. First time I started down the stairs to go to emergency and it felt like a bubble shifted, the pain totally stopped.

the second time was the worst pain ever, thought maybe appendix, turned out to be a bladder stone, also stopped abruptly when I peed it out after laying in bed in agony at the ER for a couple hours.
