Starving Dog Rescued After Eating His Own Foot to Survive

An animal shelter in South Carolina is asking for donations to help a rescued Great Dane which was so badly starved it ate one of its feet to survive.

 

The Noah's Arks Rescue have described the rescue of 6-year-old Luke as “one of the saddest cases we have had in a long time” after he was found tied to a metal pool at a yard in Ware Shoals.

Officers were called to the home following a complaint from a neighbor that a dog had chewed its own foot off. According to a police report, an officer approached the fence and spotted a “very skinny black Great Dane” with an injury to its leg.

 

“As he got closer, I could see that over half of his leg was gone,” the officer adds, reports Fox Carolina.

 

Police said there was no food or water near to where Luke was. They were unable to determine how long the dog had been tied to the pole.

 

Noah’s Ark Rescue said that despite their best efforts, Luke will now have to have his damaged leg removed.

 

“Keeping it any longer in hopes we can come up with a prosthetic that might work is too risky,” the shelter said in a statement on Facebook. “His infection appears to have invaded the bone, and that can cost him his life. We are not going to risk it which is why we have made this decision.

 

“He is strong enough to survive the surgery to remove the leg but not strong enough to withstand the infection if it continues up his leg.”

 

The shelter said Luke still has a number of medical issues following his rescue. “He looks like a dog that is not going to live past the end of the day. His eyes are sunken into the back of his eye socket. His nasal cavity and eyes are infected and drain constantly.

 

“I have seen a lot of sick dogs but what has happened to Luke is beyond inhumane,” a spokesperson for the shelter said.

 

The shelter reported Luke’s intestinal biopsy revealed he does not have any cancers as initially feared as his internal problems stem from him being starved. They are currently monitoring his food intake to prevent Refeeding Syndrome.

 

The shelter has set up a donations page to raise funds for Luke so he can “get everything he needs to survive the horrible nightmare he had to endure.”

 

The animal’s owners, Jessica James, 32, and Skylar Craft, 38, who had named the dog Lucifer, have been charged ill treatment of animals, reports Fox Carolina.

The Marines

I-beam from the World Trade Center installed at the Marine Corps Museum

 

The 10-foot-long solid iron I-beam weighs about 1,200 pounds. For about 30 years, it was part of the skeleton supporting one of the World Trade Center buildings—which for a time were the tallest skyscrapers in the world.

 

But the destructive forces of 9/11 were strong enough to warp the massive iron beam. Now, instead of standing straight, it curves.

 

“It’s so heavy and thick, but look at the amount of distortion,” said Chuck Girbovan, chief of exhibits at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, where the I-beam was installed Tuesday as part of the 9/11 exhibit, which is scheduled to open in April.

 

“If you think about how tall and massive those buildings were, and these are the things that were holding it up—it’s actually really disturbing to see the amount of destruction.”

 

The beam, which the museum acquired in 2011, has been on display elsewhere in the building, but not in an upright position.

 

“None of us have seen it standing up before,” said Jennifer Castro, the museum’s curator of cultural and material history. “It looks so much bigger this way.”

 

“I look at it as a piece of cosmic art. It’s beautiful in and of itself,” she continued, contemplating the beam. “And it does speak to the devastation that occurred [at the World Trade Center site].”

 

The museum has been preparing for its “final phase”—which will bring the story of the Marines up to the present— for the past six years. The physical space to “complete the circle” is finished and galleries dedicated to the period of time between World Wars I and II, the War on Terror and others are under construction and expected to open piece by piece through 2020.

 

A combat art gallery, an expanded children’s section and a movie theater opened in 2017. The continuation of the Legacy Walk—the timeline of Marine history that will include the 9/11 exhibit—will be the next to open, in April.

 

“If you think about Marine Corps history, we are documenting world history as well, and 9/11 was the deadliest terror attack on American soil,” Castro said. “There were Marines at both of those sites and many died. There were also those involved in the recovery.”

 

The event was also a catalyst for many young men and women to join the armed forces and the Marine Corps in particular, she said.

 

On Tuesday, a crew of seven from Chantilly-based A&A Transfer installed the I-beam in a pit, which was poured for it years ago when the building was constructed.

 

“I was on edge putting it up,” said crew member Aron Kinney, an A&A account executive.

The museum’s 9/11 gallery will also display the medal of honor awarded posthumously by the New York Police Department to Michael Curtin, a retired Marine sergeant major who was a member of the NYPD’s elite emergency service unit. Curtin died responding to the attacks, but not before he and his team helped an estimated 25,000 people escape.

 

Curtin’s Marine Corps dress blues and his NYPD uniform will also be part of the exhibit.

 

When the gallery is complete, the I-beam and Pentagon cornice will be lit from below and carpeting will come right up to the mounts.

 

“It will look really clean and simple, like they are growing right out of the ground,” Girbovan said.

 

They won’t be behind glass, but will be open for visitors to touch.

 

“People have already connected with [these pieces] so much,” Girbovan said.

It seems odd that such an enormous disturbance is occurring simultaneously all over the globe again. Someone is probably testing a new tech.

Six Detroit-area doctors charged in $500M opioid scheme

 

Detroit — Six doctors were charged in an unsealed indictment Thursday with cheating Medicare and Medicaid out of almost $500 million and fueling the nation's opioid epidemic by illegally prescribing more than 13 million doses of prescription pain medication.

 

The dollars and drugs involved make the alleged health care fraud conspiracy one of the largest in Michigan history, and one of the largest nationwide.

 

The scheme was focused within three pain clinics in Macomb County. They are The Pain Center USA in Warren and Eastpointe, and Interventional Pain Center in Warren.

 

The three clinics were owned and operated by Dr. Rajendra Bothra, 77, of Bloomfield Hills, a surgeon, humanitarian and politician. In 1999, Bothra was presented with the highest civilian honor bestowed in India, known as the Padmashri.

 

Bothra, who hosted a fundraiser for President George H.W. Bush in 1988, was cited for humanitarian efforts in India, which included educating people about AIDS, the dangers of tobacco and alcohol, and fundraising efforts for medical equipment.

 

The other doctors charged are:

 

• Dr. Eric Backos, 65, of Bloomfield Hills.

 

• Dr. Ganiu Edu, 50, of Southfield.

 

• Dr. David Lewis, 41, of Detroit.

 

• Dr. Christopher Russo, 50, of Birmingham.

Today, this metaphysical foundation of the scientific method is known as “testing the null hypothesis.” We can never "prove" our hypothesis. Instead, we can only accept or reject the "null hypothesis" based on empirical evidence. The more times we can reject the null hypothesis based on repeated testing and acquisition of experimental evidence (replication), the stronger our hypothesis is supported as a "model" for understanding whatever it is we seek to "know." In the words of Plotinus, “we can only say what is not, for what is, we can not say.”

 

Theologians of the first century criticized the worship of “idols” for the same metaphysical reason that scientists today should not worship their "theories". All theologians agreed that God was [object]ively unknowable, so to construct and worship an idol of one’s God was to restrict one’s perception of God to an “object.” In similar fashion, when we construct a model or "theory" of reality and come to accept it as reality itself, we restrict our perception of reality within the confines of dogma. Such mental blindness fosters hubris while denying science as a perceptual method if "knowing."

I’m willing to learn if I made any mistakes, I’d appreciate a real reason into why this page was unpublished not this canned answer. I link fact checked government/economic static, conservative memes, local news and FBI declassified documents. From the impression of this action, Facebook is doing a good job in censoring conservatives pages because it doesn’t line up with the delusional beliefs systems of the brainwashed employees. 


Here’s what I’m going to do next: 


  • I’m currently writing a book on this dynamic actually (104 pages long and almost done) before I wrote “social media” now I can use “Facebook and other social media companies” from a personal experience, so thank you for this crystal example.

-I will also be calling my credit card company to get all the money I spent on ads for this page back.

-I will forward this message, and a few screenshots of my page to the DOJ to help them investigate facebooks attempt to gaslight the public. Also joining any class action lawsuits.

French MPs To Launch "No Confidence Vote" Against Unpopular Macron

 

French Members of Parliment are set to launch a No Confidence vote against Emmanuel Macron as the President has become plagued by plummeting popularity poll numbers and nationwide unrest.

 

The vote will stem from left-wing opposition parties, such as the French Socialist Party, far-left Defiant France, and the Communist Party, who have all agreed to work together on the effort.

 

“We’ve decided to work together to file a no-confidence vote [to the government] next Monday,” First Secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure said of the matter, according to Express UK.

 

“During the coming days, we will seek to increase the number of signatories. We have to show that other ways are possible.”

 

The assembly would hold a no-confidence motion within 48 hours of the request.

 

Under article 49 of the French constitution, a vote of no-confidence is a means for the National Assembly, on its own initiative, to force the government to resign.

 

Macron’s centrist Republic on the Move party has a strong majority in the 577-seat house, putting the no-confidence effort in an uphill battle.

 

Macron had faced similar votes in July after video surfaced of his personal bodyguard beating a May Day protester while wearing police gear. The president ultimately dogged the repercussions as the votes were defeated, solidifying his majority.

“When she asked to move the printer to another location so she would not have to crawl under his desk in dresses and skirts, the lawsuit states, Wallace refused,” the Bee reported.

 

He forced her into this “demeaning behavior” in front of other male executives from the division, Hartley contended.

Kamala Harris and “believe all women” trope

 

Did we, or did we not learn from the Kavanaugh hearings, that Democrats insist all women should be believed when they make harassment claims against a male, due process be damned?

 

Becerra, by contrast, and his office, upon taking over the case, immediately blamed the victim, saying she had failed to follow proper guidelines.

 

Hartley, Becerra wrote, “unreasonably failed to utilize the procedures during the period of time, and after, the alleged harassment or discrimination was occurring.”

 

“Had Plaintiff taken reasonable effort to utilize these procedures Plaintiff’s alleged harm, injury or damages would have been avoided, in whole or in part.”

 

Despite continuing to fight Hartley’s claims and victim-blaming her, the nearly half-million dollar settlement was reached.

Harris claims ignorance

 

Harris spokeswoman Lily Adams issued a statement in which the Senator’s office claimed they knew nothing about the harassment claim.

 

“We were unaware of this issue and take accusations of harassment extremely seriously,” Adams said. “This evening, Mr. Wallace offered his resignation to the senator, and she accepted it.”

 

As part of the settlement negotiated with Becerra, Hartley was forbidden from speaking about the case to the media.

 

Still, the lawsuit was filed while Harris technically still served as attorney general. And the reality is, the Democrat Party is the one who set the bar incredibly high for your associations with allegations of this nature. After all, if Kavanaugh can be smeared for standing near a punch bowl decades ago, Harris can certainly be questioned over whether or not she knew anything about her top aide harassing and retaliating against a woman.

FBI Knew Steele Dossier Was Bogus Before Using In FISA Application: Solomon

 

A string of emails quietly requested by House Republicans for declassification by President Trump may be the smoking gun that the FBI and DOJ committed egregious abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), according to The Hill's John Solomon.

 

The email exchanges - kept from Congressional investigators for over two years, "included then-FBI Director James Comey, key FBI investigators in the Russia probe and lawyers in the DOJ’s national security division," according to the report - and took place in early to mid-October of 2016, prior to the FBI successfully securing a FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

 

The email exchanges show the FBI was aware — before it secured the now-infamous warrant — that there were intelligence community concerns about the reliability of the main evidence used to support it: the Christopher Steele dossier.

 

The exchanges also indicate FBI officials were aware that Steele, the former MI6 British intelligence operative then working as a confidential human source for the bureau, had contacts with news media reporters before the FISA warrant was secured. -The Hill

 

Two weeks after the FBI secured the FISA warrant using the Steele Dossier, Steele was fired by the FBI on November 1, 2016 for inappropriate communications with the news media.

 

Also withheld from both Congress and the general public until months later is the fact that Steele had been paid by Fusion GPS - an opposition research firm hired by Hillary Clinton and the DNC to dig up dirt on Donald Trump. Moreover, Steele absolutely hated Donald Trump.

 

And as Solomon notes; "If the FBI knew of his media contacts and the concerns about the reliability of his dossier before seeking the warrant, it would constitute a serious breach of FISA regulations and the trust that the FISA court places in the FBI."

The media’s predictions would require us to assume the Mueller and his team are completely disregarding all normal DOJ policies and procedures regarding cooperators. Given the strategic rationale behind these policies and procedures, this is an unlikely scenario.

It’s Official: Now There Is Proof Corrupt and Fired Former FBI Director James Comey Lied to the FISA Court to Spy on Candidate Trump

 

Yesterday it was reported that a long email chain was uncovered that provides evidence that former FBI Head James Comey and others in his inner circle signed and sent a FISA warrant application to the FISA Court and that they knew the FISA warrant was fraudulent.

Since the emails are labeled classified by the Deep State DOJ and FBI, Comey wanted to have his testimony in front of Congress this week in the open so he wouldn’t have to discuss his criminal actions like this one.

 

Yesterday, John Solomon from the Hill reported that a long email chain was uncovered that the Republican House members added to the list of documents they would like President Trump to un-classify and release to the American public.

 

As reported by TGP’s Cristina Laila –

 

Former FBI Director James Comey is reportedly in this long email chain which is dated October of 2016 – just before the FBI obtained its first FISA warrant on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

 

“If these documents are released, the American public will have clear and convincing evidence to see the FISA warrant that escalated the Russia probe just before Election Day was flawed and the judges (were) misled,” one knowledgeable source told John Solomon.

 

The FBI acknowledged in the emails there were intelligence community concerns about the Steele dossier before they secured a FISA warrant.

The FBI knew Steele was talking to the media before they obtained a FISA warrant.

 

This is significant because the FBI has maintained for the last two years that they fired Christopher Steele after they obtained the FISA warrant after finding out he violated FBI protocol by speaking to the media.

 

The FBI used Michael Isikoff’s Yahoo News article as a source to corroborate the Steele dossier when presenting evidence to the FISC. If they knew Steele was Isikoff’s source, the FBI is guilty of circular intelligence reporting which of course is against protocol. They presented the two sources as independent which means they defrauded the FISC.

 

When Comey signed off on the FISA warrant request to the FISA Court to obtain a legal basis to spy on Carter Page and President Trump he lied.

Prosecutors Resume Foreign Lobby Probe Of Podesta Group, Mercury Public Affairs

 

Federal prosecutors have recently resumed interviewing witnesses in an investigation of two lobbying firms that worked with former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, including one operated by the brother of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

 

According to The Associated Press, prosecutors in New York have in recent weeks started contacting witnesses and attorneys as part of an investigation into the Podesta Group and Mercury Public Affairs.

 

The two firms worked with Manafort through 2014 on a consulting project aimed at fluffing the public image of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych.

 

Prosecutors have also focused on Greg Craig, the former White House general counsel under then-President Barack Obama and a former partner at the firm Skadden Arps. CNN reported in September that prosecutors were weighing charges against Craig, who has since left his firm.

 

Special Counsel Robert Mueller had indicted Manafort on a slew of charges related to his work for a political party close to Yanukovych. Mueller reportedly referred the Podesta and Mercury matters to federal prosecutors in Manhattan.

 

Neither Tony Podesta, the founder of the Podesta Group, nor Vin Weber, the head of Mercury, have been accused of criminal wrongdoing.

 

Manafort, 69, was convicted in federal court in Virginia on Aug. 21 on money laundering and tax evasion charges related to his Ukraine profits. He was set to go to trial in Washington, D.C. on charges that he illegal acted as a foreign agent of Ukraine, but the longtime GOP operative entered a plea deal with Mueller’s team on Sept. 14, just before jury selection was set to begin.

 

Mueller has since moved to nullify that plea agreement, accusing Manafort of lying to prosecutors during meetings after entering the plea deal.

 

According to court filings submitted in Manafort’s case, the Podesta Group and Mercury Public Affairs failed to register as foreign agents of Ukraine despite knowing that they were working on behalf of Yanukovych.

 

And at Skadden Arps, Craig helped craft a report aimed at smearing one of Yanukovych’s political rivals.

Do you remember when the United States was about to have her constitutional order upended? If you printed out all the concern-trolling articles from the fall of 2016 about whether Donald Trump would "accept" the results of the presidential election and laid them end to end, they would stretch from China to Peru. As far as I recall, no one actually predicted that opioid-addicted out-of-work steelworkers in Carhartt jackets would roam the streets of Washington looting and burning and eventually installing an Alex Jones puppet government under the nominal leadership of the host of Celebrity Apprentice. The point, assuming there was one, was that the "credibility" of our election system would be undermined if one of the candidates and most of his supporters refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the next commander-in-chief.

 

I made light of most of these concerns at the time. The subsequent refusal of everyone from Clinton to The Washington Post to the president's own Department of Justice to come to terms with the fact that Trump narrowly won by campaigning in crucial states his opponent didn't bother to visit has proven me wrong. Mea maxima culpa. Half the country seems to believe that Donald Trump is not the duly elected president of the United States.

 

If people have come to this conclusion, the rest of us have Robert Mueller and his special counsel investigation to thank. After nearly two years of hunting he has ensnared much small game but no large mammals. He has never produced any evidence that Trump colluded with either the Russian government or individuals "tied" or "linked" to Moscow.

 

At this point the most obvious fair-minded explanation of the Russia investigation is that it exists to paralyze the Trump administration. It certainly monopolizes the president's attention. When he is abroad he broods over the latest media talking points from his suite. When he is in Washington, he fumes in front of the television and tweets his favorite tidbits from Fox News. The special counsel has taken his attention away from diplomacy and the other ordinary business of the presidency. Mueller has failed to deliver the goods not simply because there are no goods to deliver but because delivering them is not the point. The point is to hurt Trump.

"Schindler's List" won seven Academy Awards in 1993, including Best Picture and Best Director. It tells the story of Oskar Schindler (brilliantly played by Liam Neeson), a German businessman who employed Jewish labor in his factory as a cover to save them. By the end of WWII, 1,200 Jews were saved thanks to Schindler's efforts. The film will be re-released in theaters across the U.S. and Canada for a limited run on December 7.

They rummaged through his home for six hours even though he told them that Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz awarded him whistleblower status, according to Cain’s lawyer, Michael Socarras.

 

Horowitz instructed a top aide to personally hand-carry the documents to the House and Senate intelligence committees over the summer after he received them from Cain, Socarras said.

TOKYO – A U.S. Marine Corps refueling plane and a fighter jet, carrying a total of seven U.S. Marines, collided and crashed into the Pacific Ocean off Japan's southwestern coast early Thursday. Rescuers found two of the crew members involved, officials said, but one died later after being pulled from the water. A search and rescue operation was continuing for the five others.

 

The U.S. Marine Corps said the 2 a.m. crash involved an F/A-18 fighter jet and a KC-130 refueling aircraft during regular refueling training after they took off from their base in Iwakuni, near Hiroshima in western Japan.

Leftist London Mayor Calls for Brexit to Be Suspended If Commons Vote Fails

 

London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has said that Prime Minister Theresa May should halt Brexit if her withdrawal agreement with the European Union is voted down in the House of Commons next week.

 

Speaking in Dublin, Ireland, on Thursday the Labour Party mayor claimed that leaving the EU free from its regulations in a “no deal” scenario, trading with the bloc on World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, would be the “worst possible outcome,” reports the Evening Standard.

 

“In my view, the prospect, the very notion, of a no-deal Brexit must be taken off the table by the British Government,” Khan said, before calling on the prime minister to “withdraw Article 50” — the legal mechanism to take the UK out of the EU — “if the British Parliament rejects her deal next week, which is looking extremely likely.”

 

“It would stop the clock that is ticking down towards a no-deal Brexit, and it would provide the breathing space to decide how we resolve this mess,” he added.

 

The London mayor is in Dublin to “bang the drum” for business ties between the city and London.

The police in Gothenburg report that more and more people are selling drugs “completely openly” in the city. According to Robin Nilsson, head of the drug unit in Gothenburg, civilian officers are offered drugs to buy each work shift.

 

“We don’t have to work very hard to catch a drug dealer in Brunnsparken. We basically just have to go there. There are ten, fifteen, at a time that sell there.”, he says.

 

The police in both Stockholm and Uppsala confirm that there are now more drugs on the streets and that the gangs are getting bigger. One reason is the intensifying competition in the market which makes sales more visible to attract customers.

 

Another reason is the new secondary school law. Unaccompanied minors only need to submit an application to a secondary school to be able to remain in Sweden.

 

They can then continue drifting around on the streets, form gangs, join previously established criminal migrant gangs, commit crimes and both abuse and sell drugs.

 

Several patrol officers believe that the police authority itself is responsible for the development by completely neglecting to follow up and adapt its work. Most importantly, many of the police’s special drug units disappeared in connection with the reorganisation in 2015.

Time’s Up, the legal defense fund launched to support victims of workplace sexual misconduct, is the largest fundraiser in platform GoFundMe’s history.

 

The fundraiser, which was launched in December 2017 amid the #MeToo movement, has raised over $22 million so far.

 

GoFundMe announced Thursday that Time’s Up is officially the biggest fundraiser in the website’s 8-year history, and raised almost as much as the top 10 campaigns of 2017 combined, according to BuzzFeed News.

 

Other top fundraisers in 2018 included pages to help the survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, one to build homes for Rohingya refugees, another for the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting victims and one to aid the sole surviving member of a family killed in the Missouri duck boat accident.

 

The highest-raising campaign in 2017 was to support victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting, raising just under $12 million.

 

$30 million was also raised for those affected by the California wildfires, though that amount was spread out over a number of fundraisers.

 

GoFundMe has become a go-to for people hoping to make a difference in the wake of natural disasters, shootings and other tragedies. Individuals have also turned in droves to the fundraising platform to pay medical bills and legal bills.

 

A GoFundMe page went viral this year in support of Christine Blasey Ford, who accused then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, raising a total of nearly $650,000.

 

A separate fundraiser was also started in support of Kavanaugh, raising $488,500.

 

There are hundreds of fundraisers for victims of rape and sexual assault on the website, though BuzzFed News noted that a significant number of sexual assault-related fundraisers fly under the radar, never meeting their goals or making national news.

 

Time’s Up was officially founded in January in the wake of sexual assault allegations against a number of prominent men in the entertainment industry.

 

"The TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund connects those who experience sexual harassment, abuse or related retaliation in the workplace or trying to advance their careers with legal and public relations assistance," the fundraising page reads. "The money raised will help defray legal and public relations costs in select cases based on criteria and availably of funds."

One was in a stable condition at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, while the second had been found about 10 hours after the collision and brought aboard a Japanese military vessel, the ministry said. No other details about the second Marine were known, a ministry spokesman said.

 

Search-and-rescue efforts for the remaining five continued.

 

The incident adds to a growing list of U.S. military aviation accidents around the world in recent years, prompting hearings in Congress to address the rise.

Germany Launches ‘How to Identify Nazi Parents’ Guide For Schools

 

A new booklet for daycare workers that claims to help identify “Nazi parents” suggests looking out for girls with braided hair and athletic boys.

 

The 60-page booklet, entitled Ene, Mene, Muh – And You’re Out! was designed by the far-left “anti-hate” Amadeu Antonio Foundation ,which is headed by former Stasi informant Annette Kahane and based in Berlin with the foreword being written by Social Democrat (SPD) Family Minister Franziska Giffey, Berliner Kurier reports.

 

Ms Kahane made headlines in 2015 after the German government recruited her and the foundation to scour social media for “xenophobic posts” during the height of the migrant crisis.

 

Vice-Chairman of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) parliamentary group Nadine Schön slammed the booklet saying the case studies and suggestions were “absurd.”

 

“If educators should become overseers and correctors of parental convictions, that [crosses a line],” Schön said.

 

Labelling the practice “parenting espionage” — or spying on parents — the CDU politician criticised the aspects of the booklet that identifies the way children dress or how much physical activity they participate in as being potential signs their parents might be Nazis. saying it does not fit with democracy.

 

The Amadeu Antonio Foundation defended the booklet claiming that the case studies were based on real-life cases they had witnessed including a girl with braided hair whose parents turned out to be far-right extremists. They also admitted that since the release of the booklet their phones had been slammed with complaints.

 

The case studies echo research presented by Antifa groups in 2016, which claimed that “Volkisch families,” those who believe in countryside living and traditional German culture and values, posed a threat to Germany.

 

Antifascist Action group member Olaf Meyer warned of “young couples [who] buy farms and restore them together with their relatives and friends.”

 

The Amadeu Antonio Foundation has been roundly criticised in the past, not just for Kahane’s former Stasi ties but also for their methods which have been likened to the old East German secret police.

 

In 2016, the organisation was protested by the anti-mass migration youth activist Identitarian Movement which put up Stasi-logo stickers on the foundation’s Berlin office along with another sticker saying, “enter the surveillance state.” Kahane and the foundation later threatened to take the Identitarians to court over the incident.

 

Communist political oppression academic and Stasi expert Dr Hubertus Knabe also came out against Kahane in 2016, saying that it was “incomprehensible” to allow her the ability to have control over what people say online given her past.

 

The booklet has also sparked a petition on Change.org to cut the funding the foundation receives from German taxpayers, with over 5,500 signatures at the time of publication. The petition singles out the booklet saying, “The Amadeu Antonio Foundation, under the guise of fighting Hate Speech, is calling on citizens to denounce, report or criminalise other citizens.”

Official: Israel May Need to Enter Lebanon to Complete Anti-Hezbollah Operation

 

TEL AVIV – A senior Israeli official on Thursday said that Israel may need to take action inside Lebanon in order to achieve the goals of its ongoing operation on the northern border and destroy Hezbollah’s attack tunnels.

 

“It is possible that we will be required to act inside Lebanon,” the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said according to a translation of his comments by the Times of Israel.

 

The cross-border tunnels “are wider and larger, and their goal is to transfer battalions, large forces, into Israeli territory, in order to come in and carry out a killing spree and kidnappings and to capture villages,” he said.

 

He added that the decision to launch Operation Northern Shield earlier this week was out of concern that details of the operation would be leaked to Hezbollah.

 

“If Hezbollah knew that we knew [about the existence of the tunnels] then this would accelerate their kidnapping efforts, and we did not want to get to a situation where the kidnappers infiltrate into Israel and abduct a soldier or a civilian, and no one would know anything about it,” the senior official said.

 

He also stated that the northern operation was one of the reasons the cabinet decided not to launch a major offensive against Hamas in Gaza following a barrage of 460 rockets in a 48-hour period last month, the official added. “There were other reasons too, but that was one of them,” he said.

 

Also on Thursday, the Jerusalem Post quoted another official saying that Russia has deployed forces on the Syrian-Lebanese border with the aim of preventing the transfer of weapons and precision-guided technology to Hezbollah.

 

According to the unnamed diplomatic source, Russian and Israeli efforts inside Syria have seriously impacted Hezbollah’s missile program, with the terror group only managing to convert a “few dozen” ordinary missiles into precision-guided ones.

 

Hezbollah had hoped by now to have converted thousands of missiles out of an estimated 140,000, the source said.

 

The comments came as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu briefed a group of foreign diplomats on the northern border.

REDDING, Calif. (AP) - A new study says a rare fire tornado that raged during the deadly fire this summer in Northern California was created by a combination of scorching weather, erratic winds and an ice-topped cloud that towered miles into the atmosphere.

 

The study in the Geophysical Research Letters journal used satellite and radar data to suggest how a monstrous "firenado" the size of three football fields developed on July 26.

 

The churning funnel of smoke and flame killed a firefighter. The study, published last month and announced Wednesday, says a key factor was an ice-topped cloud generated by the fire itself.

 

That cloud stretched the air column and helped create swirling, tornado-strength winds.

 

The Carr Fire claimed eight lives and more than 1,000 homes in the Redding area north of San Francisco.

The one that has been wiped and contains no files, that your anti-virus software claims is squeaky-clean and free of any malicious code?

 

Well, maybe it’s not quite as simple as that.

 

Because a pair of security researchers are planning to demonstrate next week how they managed to reprogram the firmware on removable USB drives to contain malware capable of compromising computer systems.

 

And, because the malware never touches the flash memory of the USB device (where you files would normally reside) but in the firmware that controls the stick’s basic functions instead, the malicious code is entirely invisible to conventional security tools and your computer’s operating system.

 

Once reprogrammed, claim the researchers, there are a number of ways in which the once harmless USB drive can act maliciously:

 

A device can emulate a keyboard and issue commands on behalf of the logged-in user, for example to exfiltrate files or install malware. Such malware, in turn, can infect the controller chips of other USB devices connected to the computer.

The device can also spoof a network card and change the computer’s DNS setting to redirect traffic.

A modified thumb drive or external hard disk can – when it detects that the computer is starting up – boot a small virus, which infects the computer’s operating system prior to boot.

 

To prove the concept, security researchers Karsten Nohl and Jakob Lell have created some code that they have dubbed “BadUSB”, which they claim can turn a benign device “evil”.
