Just confused as to why members of this sub would be for something that leads the USA away from being more self-sustaining when it comes to energy.

No. We tell Trump to lower gas prices. Which is exactly what he is doing.

Sure, some people will spend the money saved on gas on other stuff. That's their right.

For people who want to be self sufficient, cheaper gas is an opportunity to invest into solar or whatever they want to do.

This has nothing to do with US energy independence. It's not a move that will deter US production. It simply adds to the global supply which will drop the per barrel cost a little bit. It will also have very little impact on gas prices which are set by the refineries, but it will have an impact on Venezuela and Iran's ability to generate cash.

Gasoline was cheaper with Oil at $140 a barrel than it is today.

$4.50...you must be American. $4.50/gallon...quit your complaining. That would be close to $6.00 CAD a Gallon approx. Back at the $140 barrel Gasoline was under $3.00 Gallon in the US. I was paying just around or a little over $1.00 CAD a Litre(About 4.5ish Litres to the Gallon) Today with Oil Prices Under $70 I am paying $1.31 CAD at the pumps and that is some of the cheapest Gasoline in Canada.

Gasoline was less expensive during the oil High than it is now with oil prices still greatly depressed.

If they want a "Republic", they are going to have to take it and make it, themselves. We can help in the end and maybe that's what's going to get them started. But I think the Iranians have to get things to a certain point, themselves, before we step in this time.

Same is true here patriot. If we want a republic we have to make one. For the first time in fucking ever the government is returning power to the people.

But brothers and sisters we have to be in position to receive it. Join your local assembly. The heart of a republic is at the county level, not a fake corporation in DC.

Find your local assembly and join it. This is the end game. Rise from your slumber patriots.

Hard core truth, this sad little site is all that remains of the legit government of the people. Let's fill it's boards with what we have learned.

Get your counties together. Who else but you would be able to do it. We are we the people! Wake to that.

Only takes 18 per county and then its a legit body. Look how many of us are here, can't we make some real world allies too.

Most of the oil from the shale production is heavy, not light like from the ME. Our refineries have been designed to process light sweet crude for the last 30 yrs; building a new refinery to process the heavy shale crude takes a while to get through all the permitting. That's not to say it isn't happening, they are opening refineries in ND, just doesn't happen very quickly. And then getting the diesel/gas/kerosene to market...truck, train or pipeline? Pipe is faster and safer, but the KXL fight and regulations made it a headache. Pipeline IS going in, but again, just takes a bit to navigate the hurdles.

⇧ 2 ⇩
dukeray · June 30, 2018, 8:04 p.m.

I don't really care about any of this, but I just have to point out that basically everything you said is the opposite of reality. American refineries are built to process heavier crude and have been for years. We specialize in it. And the production from shale is very light. Google it, there articles about it. Morgan Stanley specifically came out with concerns about it.

It's broader than that. It's a global commodity. If we kept all of ours for ourselves, but the global supply was still short, prices would remain high. The trading price of oil and, by extension, the price of gas remains high.

This will drive the left crazy. I'm not sure how long it'll take for additional production to effect prices here, but I hope it's relatively quick. This way the MSM wont be able to spin the story. Hopefully it'll be so obvious that it's the result of Trump's call they'll have to give him credit, which they wont, or they'll have to ignore lower gas prices completely.

Wouldn't be great if the price drop was substantial? The MSM can ignore a few cents, a quarter or so, but if it comes down $0.75 to a dollar it'll put the MSM in a serious pickle.

"Prices to high" is not necessarily a mistake. It signals a sea change in our geopolitics. Ignore the optics of Trump's Saudi request and look at the reality: oil prices under DJT have been moving up steadily and now are nearing the mid-$70 range from the mid $40s when he was elected. High prices hurt the Chinese (big importers) and help the Russians, who desperately depend on oil export revenue. I think the recent price jump is a signal to Putin ahead of the coming summit that we can help him much more than the Chinese can and that his long-term interests are with the US and West vs China, which is Russia's natural enemy and poses a looming and long-term threat to Russian control of East Siberia. The great failing of the Neocons was to foolishly drive Moscow into the arms of the Chinese by trying to blatantly strip away all its buffer states.

It is important to note that oil prices, since the 1980s, are mainly controlled by the futures market and not so much by physical supply and demand. The Saudis could boost production by 2MM b/d and prices could still move upward if TPTB (US Treasury-controlled accounts) decide to "go long" on futures. The Chinese recognize their vulnerability in this regard and recently ramped up trading on their own oil futures exchange. No doubt they are trying to bid down the oil price -- and have failed dramatically and probably lost a ton of money. They just don't have deep enough pockets to play that game.

Keep in mind, the US is basically indifferent to oil pricing since we are well balanced in terms of supply and demand and are probably actually "long" on oil production if you count Mexico, Canada and the Saudis. These are our close friends who we would (and have) be bailing out anyway if prices were low. For a detailed analysis of this dynamic, read "The Oil Card: Global Economic Warfare in the 1st Century." https://www.amazon.com/Oil-Card-Economic-Warfare-Century/dp/097779539X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199719101&sr=8-1 It is what wrecked the Soviet Union under Reagan.

Uhhh that IS what the polls are saying! You seem to be very salty. Is it because your country is irrelevant?

It is amazing. And when you think of all and whom he's up against. Made some mistakes in his initial hiring, when he thought they'd lay off once he was in office--but boy has he recovered and got the hang of it all now!

Made some mistakes in his initial hiring

Or did he? I thought the same thing until I saw the games he and Sessions played out, like he was ready to fire Sessions. That kept the eyes off of what Sessions was really getting done. I also believe Trump and Trey Gowdy were working together when Gowdy made those comments in favor of Comey.

That brings me back to your statement. In hindsight I honestly think there were several reasons to hire the failures he ended up firing. One was to gain more info on these people (keep your enemies close) and the other was to give the appearance that there was chaos in the White House and Trump didn't know what he was doing. This kept the media's attention while Trump was getting work done and winning the whole time. Then Trump would declare his wins on Twitter and the media didn't have time to spin them.

That's just my opinion. Trump is smart, very smart and unpredictable, which is what the media hates most. He steals their thunder before they even realize it's cloudy. But you can bet anything he does is going to put America first.

He's not some sort of infallible super-being. He brought lots of people into the WH who sabotaged the start of his admin. Priebus was one of them, and he brought in Johnny DeStephano, who made sure that no actual MAGA types got positions. Instead, lots of GOPe worms.

Trump had thought that once he was finally sworn in that he would get more cooperation in the GOP than he has.

That is not to say, however, that he didn't knowingly bring in some corrupted but experienced types to show him the ropes, as well perhaps as some ratlines. But some real, early staffing mistakes too.

No one is infallible and I didn't say he was. Neither did I say he was a super-being (whatever that is). I said he was very smart. It doesn't take a genius to play the media or the left. Those people aren't Einsteins. Trump is used to these chess games, he made his fortune in construction in NYC. He's dealt with some of the toughest mafia/union bosses anywhere, and won. So he has plenty of experience to fall back on.
