US company makes Trump $3.3B border offer: Quick turnaround on 218 miles of steel fence, roads, and tech

 

A U.S. construction company is making a formal, unsolicited offer to Trump administration officials in Washington this week to build 218 miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexico border for $3.3 billion and have the entire job completed in 13 months.

Arizona-based Fisher Industries President Tommy Fisher is meeting this week with top Department of Homeland Security officials, along with Democrats and Republicans in Congress, to sell his plan, the Washington Examiner has learned.

“DHS needs a contractor to build the border fence as fast as possible, without compromising the quality of the fence. The ideal contractor would build the border fence faster, of higher quality, and at less cost than any other contractor. Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. is that contractor,” Fisher Industries officials wrote in an official paper version of the proposal.

Tommy Fisher said it can build 218 miles of 18-foot steel bollard fence, along with paved concrete roads, lighting, and technology for $3.285 billion, a fraction of the $5.7 billion President Trump requested from Congress in December for a 234-mile project.

 

The fence's steel is all made in-house and would be weathered to avoid rusting and the need for replacement for 75 years, Fisher said. The top of the fence would have spin cameras mounted to it with systems that use facial recognition technology.

The barrier would go up in four regions: 42 miles near Yuma, Ariz.; 69 miles near El Paso, Texas; 15 miles near El Centro, Calif.; and 91 miles near Tucson, Ariz.

Each mile would cost $12.5 million. Mobilization or start-up costs are estimated around $200 million and a $360 million five-year warranty is included in the total proposed cost. Fisher said all parts and labor would be American.

The project comes in $2 billion less than budgeted, Fisher said, because he has handled all of the procurement costs himself and came up with a new and cheaper way to build. A patent is pending on the fence installation process, which is not done the same as other wall projects because of a different type of excavator Caterpillar will make specifically for this project.

Evidently, Mueller already knew (or if one is generous to his "integrity", he already had learned) that there was no "collusion" by about mid July 2017. That's two months into what would become a 2-year investigation.

 

The "investigation" was merely a front, a facade, a false face. A distraction from the real mission that Mueller was tasked with by his co-conspirators. The posts are dropping multiple clues, and given MANY hints for digs that go in many directions. (BAD has new meaning…) It seems multiple people were killed on one flight together, Colgan Air Flight 3407.

 

Beverly Eckert, of course, was a 9/11 widow who refused to accept payment for keeping her mouth shut and was seeking to know the truth.

 

Another who died on the flight was Rwanda researcher Alison Des Forges. The official story of the Rwandan genocide is that it was mainly conducted by Hutus and the victims were Tutsis. But before her death she had begun focusing more attention on atrocities committed by the Rwandan Patriotic Front, the group led by Paul Kagame that won the war and became the government. Kagame is still the effective ruler of Rwanda.

 

The spark that set of the genocide was a plane crash on… APRIL 6, 1994. (So many plane crashes…) The plane was carrying the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi, who were returning from a peace conference that was supposed to make final arrangements on a power-sharing agreement that would put a stop to ethnic conflict. But the missile downed the plane on its descent to Kigali, and all died. Shortly thereafter, the most radical "Hutu Power" elements in the existing Hutu-controlled government seized power and started the slaughter. The "obvious" conclusion is that the Hutu fanatics downed the plane so they could avoid peace and get their genocide on.

 

But…

 

Nobody has ever really established who shot down the plane, and it seems the Rwandan Patriotic Front forces kicked into action immediately afterwards, including a unit already in Kigali in preparation for the peace treaty. I am just an amateur who reads books on this, but I have long suspected the RPF shot the plane down, and others have suspected the same.

 

Paul Kagame is an interesting guy who happens to have received military training at Ft. Leavenworth. He was an extremely effective military leader, and the genocide ended with him seizing control of the country and ruling since then. And he seems to have remade the country in his own image. Crime is way down. On the other hand you are not allowed to have an ethnic group anymore or question official accounts…

 

(If some diabolical person has ever wondered if genocide could be EFFECTIVE, setting the stage for a complete refashioning of society… hmmm, maybe the answer is yes. Trial run?)

George Washington University students vote to remove 'offensive' mascot

George Washington University students voted to replace their mascot, George the Colonial, which had been criticized by many as being "offensive" to some students.

 

According to Campus Reform, 54 percent of the GW students who voted in their student elections supported removal of the mascot. However, it's unclear whether administrators will follow through with removing the mascot.

 

One student said that she felt the mascot was "a little white supremacisty."

 

"The word colonial invokes an image of white men coming to take people's land," said another student.

 

Originally, the campaign to change the mascot began with a petition in 2018, and although it managed to garner over 500 votes, Campus Reform noted that this is less than 2 percent of the total student body of George Washington University.

 

"What's missing in this debate is any sort of common sense whatsoever," said Campus Reform correspondent Abigail Marone on Fox News.

 

"There's a huge difference between a colonial, which is our mascot, and anyone who lived during colonial times, and colonialism, which is what students are saying this mascot is representative of, which is not the case at all," said Marone.

 

"Colonialism is a political system of taking over land," she added.

Step back to the kickoff of the genocide. Tensions had been building, and UN "peacekeepers" were already in place. The UN commander was Canadian general Romeo Dallaire. Shortly before all hell broke loose, he got a tip from an informant about where the Hutu Power plotters were stashing their weapons. He made plans for a quick raid, informed his UN controllers and was told… to stand down. As the genocide kicked off, he desperately sought guidance from his UN superior, who simply refused to answer the phone. And that was… future UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. (Was the Nobel Peace Prize payment for silence?) Ultimately, Dallaire's well-armed troops did basically nothing against machete-wielding thugs, except some Belgian paratroopers got brutally slaughtered.

 

Who else did nothing to help? That's right: President William Jefferson Clinton! The State Dept spokeperson was notoriously asked: "How many acts of genocide does it take to make genocide?" Her reply: "…that's just not a question I'm in a position to answer." Clinton wiffled and waffled, but Kagame was very effective militarily, and his forces made a quick run through Rwanda, even if many of his innocent co-ethnics were being hacked to death at the same time.

 

Historically, the French government was seen as a prime backer of the Hutu-dominated Rwandan regimes. Eventually French forces arrived and set up a "safe corner" of Rwanda (in Operation Turquoise). Some idealists criticized them for providing safety for… the perpetrators! By the time the French really got set up, the RPF was winning, and many Hutus were fleeing, along with many of the Hutu génocidaires. They fled into the French zone, and then they fled into… the Congo! (But we'll get to that…)

 

Eventually the US did step in and start providing "assistance" with a focus on supporting the RPF-controlled government. On the surface it seems like the US and France might have been "supporting" (even if Slick Willy wasn't giving MUCH support) "opposite" sites in a genocidal conflict. But a "conspiracy theorist" might ask whether the REAL powers weren't on the "same" side all along, supporting the whole playout of events….

Jay Lawrence, a former truck driver, is a case in point. When his doctor refused to continue his medication in early 2017 — even though he had severe pain from spinal cord injuries and was not addicted — he told his wife that he’d had enough. In a park where they’d recently renewed their wedding vows, he fatally shot himself in the chest while she held his hand.

 

Thousands of pain medication recipients have had their doses reduced or eliminated. But this attempt to save people from addiction is leaving many patients in perpetual pain — and thus inadvertently ruining, or even ending, lives.

 

A Veterans Health Administration study found alarming rates of suicidal acts “following discontinuation of opioid therapy.” Human Rights Watch recently released a report detailing the struggles of chronic pain patients in the United States to find relief and care as a result of government efforts to reduce prescriptions.

 

Prescribing outside the C.D.C. guidelines can lead to scrutiny by medical boards and even the Drug Enforcement Administration — and the result has been that many doctors have either quit prescribing entirely or tapered patients’ doses to fit the guidelines.

 

According to a 2017 Boston Globe survey, nearly 70 percent of family and internal medicine doctors nationwide reported having reduced their prescribing in the previous two years — and nearly 10 percent reported stopping prescribing pain medication entirely.

 

The State of Oregon is considering a proposal that would require that all Medicaid patients with certain forms of chronic pain be forced off opioids. But not all patients can manage without opioids and some — whether because of metabolic or genetic differences, or tolerance from long-term use — will always need higher doses than the C.D.C. recommends.

 

By working to reduce prescribing, government regulators, insurers, law enforcement officials, legislators and other policymakers have ignored the genuine dangers of leaving people in agony, including suicide and increased risk for heart attacks and strokes.

 

And with the Trump administration having pledged to cut the manufacturing of opioids by pharmaceutical companies by an additional 10 percent, even more patients are at risk.

 

But while medical opioid use has fallen by nearly one-third since peaking around 2011 — and deaths associated with prescription opioids have stabilized — overall opioid overdose fatalities have recently hit a high as more potent, illegally manufactured opioids hit the streets.

 

Indeed, as prescribing fell, deaths connected to illicit opioids skyrocketed. From 2010 to 2016, heroin overdose mortality rose by nearly 500 percent — and mortality associated with illegally manufactured fentanyl jumped 600 percent from 2013 to 2016 alone.

 

Officials with the Centers for Disease Control admit that they do not specifically track suicides by patients who have lost medical access to pain relievers, so we don’t really know how many people are killing themselves because they can’t live with their pain.

 

In the rush to reduce opioid misuse, it is easy to forget that millions of people have safely taken these drugs for years. Data show that less than 8 percent of chronic pain patients become addicted, according to a study that has the director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse as a co-writer. And overwhelmingly, prescription opioid addiction doesn’t begin with a doctor’s prescription: About 80 percent of people who start misusing these drugs are getting them from family, friends and other people’s medicine cabinets — not from legitimate pain treatment.

 

It is true that long-term, high-dose opioid use is associated with increased overdose risk. But proponents for cutting pain medication use often fail to recognize that simply reducing or ending pain pill prescriptions can be risky, too.

 

A 2017 study of about 500 veterans who were forced to taper found that 9 percent became suicidal and 2 percent actually acted on those thoughts. Other research recently presented at a major health services conference showed that 30 percent of those who were made to taper completely were dead within six months, though the data didn’t show the cause of death.

 

After years of complacency, doctors are finally starting to fight back. Dr. McAneny cited her experience to support a resolution, subsequently passed by the medical association, that warns against “misapplication” of the guidelines. The group stresses that dose alone is not a reason for insurers or pharmacists to block access — and that doctors with good clinical reasons for variance should not be investigated or prosecuted.

Huge numbers of refugees accumulated near Lake Kivu in Congo, and among them were many (Hutu) génocidaires. The RPF, now reincarnated as the Rwandan Army, began to pursue them deeper into Congo. (Actually, Congo was called Zaire then, but we'll get to that…)

If you do not have a clear picture of African political geography in your mind, now is a good time to look at the image above. Rwanda is the rather SMALL country that I circled so you could see it. Congo is the BIG country to the left. Yet somewhow this small country (with a much smaller population too) ended up controlling the destiny of the much bigger country, and sparking a war that drew in many other African nations.

 

Technically, I guess, there are supposed to be two Congo Wars. In reality, it is pretty much one long war that is more or less still going (like Afghanistan). Most people in the US know something about the Rwanda genocide. It fits the narrative… it is "about" the danger of "racism" and "stereotyping" and all that. Never again! (Except when convenient…) Almost nobody knows ANYTHING about the Congo Wars, although typically those who make an effort to write on it call it the worst conflict since WW2. It has killed FAR more people than the Rwandan genocide (even counting the victims of the RPF).

 

It is perhaps worth reemphasizing, as some Anons know, that Congo has a wealth of "natural resources".

 

I know far more about the Congo Wars than the average person, but my knowledge is still rudimentary. Congo, then called Zaire, was ruled by Mobuto Sese Seko, an eccentric and extremely corrupt autocrat who ruled for decades and had sided with the US in the Cold War. He was closer to the end of life than the beginning and perhaps no longer useful. Laurent Kabila, an obscure revolutionary, who had been fighting since the 60's when he had received assistance from Che Guevara, and had been thought dead, suddenly reappeared and began a march across Congo, assisted by forces loyal to… Paul Kagame (and his former patron Uganda).

 

Somehow, these forces were able to swiftly overthrow Mobutu, who had ruled for decades. Kabila became president, but in less than four years he was assassinated, only to be succeeded by his son, who ruled until 2019. Relations with the Rwandans soured, and they were thrown out. But the WARS continued… and that is what matters perhaps. WAR and DESTRUCTION can create many opportunities for those with few scruples and much greed.

 

A few books have been written about the Congo Wars, but the stories never really hit the mainstream media.

 

One newsman did put together a multi-part story about them, trying to remedy the nearly complete lack of attention they had recevied for years at that point. It was a five-part story by Nightline's Ted Koppel. (He hardly EVER did a multi-part story like that, so he must have though this was BIG.) The first part broadcast on Sept 7, 2001. Parts 2-5 were scheduled for Sept 11-14, 2001. As it happens, they were preempted by coverage of current events.

Step 1: Use AI to make undetectable changes to outdoor photos. Step 2: release them into the open-source world and enjoy the chaos. Worries about deep fakes — machine-manipulated videos of celebrities and world leaders purportedly saying or doing things that they really didn’t — are quaint compared to a new threat: doctored images of the Earth itself.

 

China is the acknowledged leader in using an emerging technique called generative adversarial networks to trick computers into seeing objects in landscapes or in satellite images that aren’t there, says Todd Myers, automation lead for the CIO-Technology Directorate at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. “The Chinese are well ahead of us. This is not classified info,” Myers said Thursday at the second annual Genius Machines summit, hosted by Defense One and Nextgov. “The Chinese have already designed; they’re already doing it right now, using GANs—which are generative adversarial networks—to manipulate scenes and pixels to create things for nefarious reasons.”

 

For example, Myers said, an adversary might fool your computer-assisted imagery analysts into reporting that a bridge crosses an important river at a given point. “So from a tactical perspective or mission planning, you train your forces to go a certain route, toward a bridge, but it’s not there. Then there’s a big surprise waiting for you,” he said.

 

First described in 2014, GANs represent a big evolution in the way neural networks learn to see and recognize objects and even detect truth from fiction. Say you ask your conventional neural network to figure out which objects are what in satellite photos. The network will break the image into multiple pieces, or pixel clusters, calculate how those broken pieces relate to one another, and then make a determination about what the final product is, or, whether the photos are real or doctored. It’s all based on the experience of looking at lots of satellite photos.

 

GANs reverse that process by pitting two networks against one another — hence the word“adversarial.” A conventional network might say, “The presence of x, y, and z in these pixel clusters means this is a picture of a cat.” But a GAN network might say, “This is a picture of a cat, so x, y, and z must be present. What are x, y, and z and how do they relate?” The adversarial network learns how to construct, or generate, x, y, and z in a way that convinces the first neural network, or the discriminator, that something is there when, perhaps, it is not. A lot of scholars have found GANs useful for spotting objects and sorting valid images from fake ones. In 2017, Chinese scholars used GANs to identify roads, bridges, and other features in satellite photos.

 

The concern, as AI technologists told Quartz last year, is that the same technique that can discern real bridges from fake ones can also help create fake bridges that AI can’t tell from the real thing. Myers worries that as the world comes to rely more and more on open-source images to understand the physical terrain, just a handful of expertly manipulated data sets entered into the open-source image supply line could create havoc. “Forget about the [Department of Defense] and the [intelligence community]. Imagine Google Maps being infiltrated with that, purposefully? And imagine five years from now when the Tesla [self-driving] semis are out there routing stuff?” he said.

 

When it comes to deep fake videos of people, biometric indicators like pulse and speech can defeat the fake effect. But faked landscape isn’t vulnerable to the same techniques. Even if you can defeat GANs, a lot of image-recognition systems can be fooled by adding small visual changes to the physical objects in the environment themselves, such as stickers added to stop signs that are barely noticeable to human drivers but that can throw off machine vision systems, as DARPA program manager Hava Siegelmann has demonstrated.

Update on Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility

 

There have been some anti-Q posters harassing Anons on Twatter say, “Qanons said GITMO detention was expanded. They think Trump did it.” Then they show a terrible map that gives the impression the detention facility has been expanded since POTUS took office. Then they call us stupid.

 

I have made a new map showing changes to the detention facility Camp Echo, Camp 5, and Camp 6 spanning 15 years. As you can see, large differences show from 2004 to 2013. Many buildings were built in 2008. There were also some upgrades from 2013 to 2019, but they were not as extensive.

 

GITMO currently has 40 inmates and can hold an additional 200 with additional servicemen. Fortunately, 115m has been approved to build a 848 troop barracks. The contract should be announced this month.

 

They are also getting budget approval of 69m to replace Camp 7 (not on map) with a new Camp 8, with better medical facilities and doors wide enough for wheelchairs. This is considered the super max unit for “high value targets” and was previously run by CIA.

Quadriga Bankruptcy Monitor Says Founder Stole From Exchange; All Assets Should Be Frozen

 

More than two months have passed since doomed Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX abruptly shut down on Jan. 28 before seeking bankruptcy petition a week later. And in that time, a stream of suspicious and at times hard to believe details have stoked speculation that its late founder, Gerald Cotten, who died suddenly in India late last year, purportedly taking the keys to Quadriga's cold storage wallets with him, may have embezzled millions of dollars from his clients, or perhaps the funds were stolen in an undisclosed hack. Whatever the case may be, it appears investigators are no closer to determining what happened to customers' money, particularly since Quadriga's bankruptcy court monitor, Ernst & Young, disclosed that some of the firm's cold storage wallets had been empty since April. But in a long-awaited report on its findings released this week, EY recommended that Quadriga's case be moved out of restructuring and into bankruptcy, arguing that it would offer an easier, more cost effective approach for returning at least some money to the firm's creditors. According to Bloomberg, the Vancouver-based exchange owes its clients roughly $195 million in crypto.

 

Not only have efforts to recover money from Quadriga itself proved fruitless (EY recommended that any funds from the sale of the trading platform itself could be returned to shareholders), but attempts to recover more than $4.5 million in bank drafts and receivables held by third-party payment processors have also led to a dead end.

 

Though the report is more than 240 pages long, here's where it gets really interesting. Because EY discovered evidence that Cotten and/or Robertson may have embezzled money from Quadriga's clients, the company is recommending that all of the assets held by Robertson and Cotten's estate (of which she is the executor) be subjected to a "preservation agreement" - essentially, an asset freeze. Over time, this should help Quadriga's creditors eventually recoup at least some of their money.

 

But the key takeaway is that the monitors haven't found the missing coins, but did find evidence of impropriety. And, as one Twitter wit pointed out, EY's recommendations stopped just short of "send everybody involved in this scam to jail." But by uncovering evidence of impropriety, they at least pointed in that direction.

When it Comes to Guantanamo, Trump is Truly the Builder in Chief

 

MIAMI – The Trump administration has more than $200 million in new construction teed up for Guantanamo this year and next, combining new funding in the $1.3 trillion spending bill and existing projects.

 

The biggest ticket item for the U.S. Navy base in Cuba in the so-called Omnibus Spending law is $115 million for a new 848-troop barracks across the street from the McDonald's and commissary to consolidate enlisted prison staff under one roof.

 

A dive into the documents that underpin the spending bill that President Donald Trump signed Friday – declaring "Nobody read it. It's only hours old. Some people don't even know what's in it" – indicates Congress did not fund a new $69 million prison for the 15 high-value detainees at Guantanamo, called Camp 7. It does however devote $66 million to a 150-prisoner jail, with campus, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state for troops and airmen accused of crimes.

 

It also serves as a study in contrasts of the costs of doing business at the remote base behind a minefield in southeast Cuba, where both labor and supplies must arrive by barge and airlift to undertake new construction.

 

To put the cost of the new barracks in perspective, the Omnibus Spending Law this year is also funding dormitory-style housing for 216 sailors at a Navy training site in Pensacola for $18 million, or $83,000 per bed, compared to Guantanamo's cost of $135,613 for comparable housing.

 

The new barracks had been championed by Trump's chief of staff, John Kelly, during his years as a Marine general at U.S. Southern Command and rejected by President Barack Obama, who wanted the prison complex closed.

 

The U.S. military has already spent $9 million on design and other preparation on the barracks for enlisted soldiers on the staff of the 41-captive prison – about half of the current strength of 1,700 troops and civilians – so the sum included in the measure is for construction of the dormitory-style building itself. A contractor has yet to be signed.

 

With all labor and materials flown in, the project is an expensive one and, by latest estimates, would start with a contract awarded in April 2019 with an anticipated 900-day construction period meaning the soonest it would be done is in September 2021.

 

Separately, the Pentagon has three other major building projects approved or underway in 2018:

 

– It has notified Congress that it found $14 million to expand the Top Secret trailer park portion of the war court complex at Camp Justice – called the Expeditionary Legal Complex – and accommodate more prefabricated office space and secure work stations.

 

– A Carlsbad, Calif., construction firm has been awarded a $23 million to $27 million contract to do work on the infrastructure of a pop-up tent city site that could, in the event of a migrant crisis, hold up to 30,000 people intercepted at sea not far from Guantanamo's lone functioning airfield. The U.S. military has spent millions of dollars since 2007 building the site on the leeward side of the base for the Department of Homeland Security because the original infrastructure was taken over by the Detention Center Zone for war-on-terror prisoners.

The military this month put out a solicitation for contractors to compete to provide a nonchewable padded cell for its new two-cell psych ward there.

 

Other funds for the court expansion include $2.1 million from $60.8 million allocated for a pier in the Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands that came in under budget.

 

The original Expeditionary Legal Complex was built in 2007 and cost $12 million, using mobilized engineers to construct it.

 

It has the Pentagon's Top Secret eavesdrop-proof war court chamber for former CIA captives, where the public hears proceedings on a 40-second delay. The expansion phase does not provide for a second courtroom sought by the chief judge, just secure office spaces. It is more expensive because this time the Pentagon is hiring outside contractors to pave, put in utilities hookups, build more security fences and add perimeter lights.

 

Separately, the Pentagon is spending $235,156 on six prefab legal meeting rooms inside the Detention Center Zone for lawyers to meet with captives, ostensibly with confidentiality, after a microphone was found in a meeting room especially set up for the alleged USS Cole bomber, a former CIA captive, to meet with his lawyers in 2014.

WASHINGTON – House lawmakers suggested Tuesday that Department of Veterans Affairs officials postpone a major expansion of veterans’ access to private-sector doctors, following warnings that its information technology system is flawed and could disrupt patient care.

 

The department is working toward a June 6 deadline to implement a new community care program for VA patients that was mandated by Congress under the VA Mission Act, a major reform bill. The program aims to replace the much-maligned Veterans Choice Program, which has been in place since 2014.

 

The U.S. Digital Service – a White House team of software developers that helps federal agencies improve their technology – recommended last month that the VA stop developing its IT system for the new program, which it described as flawed, with the potential to create confusion and disruption for veterans and VA doctors.

 

“I believe in taking the time to get things right,” said Rep. Phil Roe of Tennessee, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. “I would rather VA postpone implementation of this program than to rush to implementation in name only and have veterans pay the price for it.”

U.S. judge orders PG&E to hold dividends to pay for efforts to reduce wildfire risks

 

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A U.S. judge said on Tuesday that PG&E Corp cannot resume dividends and must use the money to reduce wildfire risk in California, stopping short of more costly measures he proposed earlier this year.

The new criminal probation terms for PG&E are modest compared with ones the judge had in mind in January and that PG&E said could have cost upwards of $150 billion.

 

The terms will, however, keep PG&E under the supervision of Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and hold the company, which also is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, to its target for clearing areas around its power lines of some 375,000 trees this year.

 

PG&E’s probation stems from its felony conviction after a deadly 2010 natural gas pipeline blast in San Bruno, California, near San Francisco, that killed eight people and injured 58 others.

 

PG&E filed for bankruptcy protection on Jan. 29 in anticipation of liabilities from wildfires, including a catastrophic 2018 blaze, the Camp Fire. It killed 86 people in the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history.

 

At a January hearing, Alsup, who is overseeing PG&E’s probation, said he felt compelled to propose additional probation terms in the aftermath of Camp Fire. San Francisco-based PG&E expects its equipment will be found to have caused the blaze.

An Air Force RC-135S Cobra Ball landed at Kadena Air Base on Saturday evening, according to Satoru Kuba, an Okinawan who monitors military aircraft traffic for Japan’s Fuji Television. The 135-foot-long, Cold War-era aircraft was parked in a hangar and was still at Kadena as of Tuesday.

 

North Korea has rebuilt a launch site at Sohae that it had partially dismantled as part of disarmament steps last year, according to recent satellite images. However, the Cobra Ball’s deployment could also be related to flooding at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., where the Air Force’s three Cobra Ball aircraft are permanently based.

 

All Cobra Balls are operated by the Air Force’s 55th Wing and manned by crews from the 45th Reconnaissance and 97th Intelligence squadrons, according to an Air Force website.

Nobody has to "push" the 25th Amendment narrative. It is a legitimate concern. Trump has been obviously unfit and unwell. That amendment was put in there for a reason. Among the countless arguments, motions and petitions filed in court over the past two weeks by both prosecutors and lawyers for the five defendants were new details about that woman, who would now be 29 and is referred to as Jane Doe 2.

There is also a strong suggestion in filings submitted by Raniere and his legal team that the defense plans to call on this alleged victim during the trial to testify on behalf of her rapist.

The identity of Jane Doe 2 has not been revealed, and even though she was the first master to head up a group of DOS sex slaves she was not charged in the initial indictment.

That could be because she was also a victim, and the fact that defendants Lauren Salzman, Clare Bronfman and Kathy Russell were all allegedly aware that she was underage.

Authorities found evidence that seemed to confirm the relationship while searching Raniere's home in upstate New York.

'The sexually explicit photographs of Jane Doe 2 were found on a hard drive seized from 8 Hale Drive, in a folder … which in turn contained 12 subfolders, each of which contained numerous sexually explicit photographs of other members and associates of the Enterprise with whom Raniere had sexual relationships, including Raniere’s codefendants Lauren Salzman and Kathy Russell.'

These images were all taken in or around 2005, at which time Salzman would have been 28 and Russell 45 - three decades older than Jane Doe 2.

A motion submitted by the US Attorney states that 'the women in all of the photographs – including Jane Doe 2 – were photographed in many of the same poses.

'The government anticipates that multiple witnesses at trial will testify that these poses are consistent with Raniere’s sexual preferences and are similar to the poses depicted in photographs Raniere demanded and obtained as collateral from “first-line” DOS “masters,” including codefendants Allison Mack and Lauren Salzman.'

It is then noted by prosecutors that Jane Doe 2 would go on to become the first member of DOS - and that she still a member of that enterprise and Nxivm.

That would make her a natural choice to testify on Raniere's behalf at the jury trial, which he and his lawyers look to be set to do - once the indictments are done being handed down.

There seems to some concern that Raniere could be hit with another superseding indictment according to the court papers, and there is always a chance that Jane Doe 12 could be charged, thus shattering the defense's case.

Roman Catholic churches have increasingly come under attack in France, a country so long identified with Christianity that it used to be called "the eldest daughter of the church."

 

A recent fire at St. Sulpice, the second-largest church in Paris, has shed light on a trend that has become commonplace in many smaller towns.

 

"Who has heard of the sacking of the monastery of Saint Jean des Balmes in Aveyron? Of those teenagers who urinated into the holy water font of the church at Villeneuve de Berg in Ardèche?" the Paris daily Le Figaro asked last week in an article highlighting some of the lesser-known profanations around the country this month.

 

Incidents such as these get a brief mention in the press, complete with quotes from Catholics shocked at the sight of scattered hosts or beheaded statues, and sometimes a short video clip on national television.

 

But apart from official denunciations of individual attacks, Catholic leaders in France have refrained from dramatizing what they say is a worrying trend.

 

The sharpest reactions have come from conservative politicians, including two National Assembly members who have called for a parliamentary inquiry into "the multiplication of anti-Christian acts."

 

"The images of flames in Saint Sulpice church this weekend are one more example of the violence committed against Catholics," Philippe Gosselin and Annie Genevard said, referring to the blaze in an edifice known to moviegoers around the world as the church in the film version of Dan Brown’s "The Da Vinci Code."

 

Among attacks on churches in February, a cross of human excrement was found in the southern city of Nimes, a statue of Mary was smashed in a Paris suburb and a statue of Jesus decapitated in an Atlantic seaside resort with the very Christian name of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (St. Giles, Cross of Life).

 

The attacks on Catholic churches and the muted reactions to them reflect the complex role France's once dominant faith plays in a society that has changed so much that ignorance of religion — not only Christianity but others as well — is widespread.

 

"We adopt a reasonable attitude. We do not want to develop a discourse of persecution. We do not wish to complain," Archbishop Georges Pontier, head of the French bishops conference, said when asked about attacks on churches.

The weapons — old 155 mm and 105 mm howitzer shells, plus mortar rounds — are being dismantled and destroyed at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant and Army officials announced this week that 112,400 of the 155 mm rounds have been destroyed.

 

They contained more than 600 tons of mustard agent, roughly one-quarter of all the mustard agent that is stored at the depot in old munitions.

 

"With the destruction of each 155 mm munition, we also eliminate 11.7 pounds of mustard agent," said Walton Levi, the acting site project manager, in a statement this week.

Chinese woman carrying malware allegedly got into Mar-a-Lago

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A woman carrying two Chinese passports and a device containing computer malware lied to Secret Service agents and briefly gained admission to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club over the weekend during his Florida visit, federal prosecutors allege in court documents.

 

Yujing Zhang, 32, approached a Secret Service agent at a checkpoint outside the Palm Beach club early Saturday afternoon and said she was a member who wanted to use the pool, court documents said. She showed the passports as identification.

 

Agents say she wasn't on the membership list, but a club manager thought Zhang was the daughter of a member. Agents say that when they asked Zhang if the member was her father, she did not answer definitively but they thought it might be a language barrier and admitted her.

 

Zhang's story changed when she got inside, agents say, telling a front desk receptionist she was there to attend the United Nations Chinese American Association event scheduled for that evening. No such event was scheduled and agents were summoned.

Spokesman Bill Russo said Monday in a lengthy statement that the women involved now say nothing unseemly happened, and argued that right-wing antagonists purposefully concocted photos designed to turn up the temperature of outrage.

'These smears and forgeries have existed in the dark recesses of the internet for a while. And to this day, right wing trolls and others continue to exploit them for their own gain,' Russo claimed.

A Trump supporter posted a crudely touched-up photo Sunday on Twitter, appearing to depict Biden groping the breast of Stephanie Carter, former Defense Secretary Ash Carter's wife, with his right hand during Mr. Carter's swearing-in ceremony. Do you notice that your Android handset still picks up audio cues for ads, etc? Even though the Google assistant is "off" on your phone?

 

The deep state has tabs on the populace-at-large, still. [They] use Google (and Facebook, Twitter, and other pre-loaded apps) to do it. [They] can listen to your most private conversations. And know exactly where you said it. Even if you've never actually "used" the app.

 

What we know:

 

The handset does not need a sim installed for Google to collect data.

The handset does not need wifi connectivity to collect data either.

Data is collected even with airplane mode on.

All offline data collected is sent to Google once a connection is established if Google has been granted permission to do so.

 

Here's how to stop allowing Satan into your device. (Android 9.x; Earlier versions vary)

 

Exit all of your apps and reboot the phone. Once the phone is to the home screen:

 

Go to Settings → Apps & Notifications → see all apps → Google app info page.

Stop the Google app process.

Go to the app storage page.

Clear app cache and storage.

Go to the app permissions page.

Turn off all permissions listed on the permissions page.

Go back to the app info page.

Disable Google app.

 

Reboot the phone. Google Assistant is disabled and has no permissions to collect your data. Once the phone is to the home screen:

 

Go to Settings → Apps & Notifications → see all apps → Google Play services info page

Go to the app storage page.

Clear app cache and storage.

Go to the app permissions page.

Turn off all permissions listed on the permissions page.

 

Reboot the phone. The handset will complain that Google Play services is blind and deaf.

 

Go to Settings → Apps & Notifications → see all apps → Action Services info page → Notifications

Turn off Google Play service availability notifications.

 

Reboot the phone again. Google Play Services no longer has permissions to collect your data. Be advised that apps that make use of Google Play services may no longer function correctly, either.

 

<But why does this matter? I turned off the assistant!! WTF?

 

Research in the wild has shown that just disabling these apps is not enough; The preloaded apps cannot be uninstalled, being part of the ROM software. Being "disabled" just means that the icons have been hidden from the user in the interface; They are still useable by the system. Permissions matter; It's literally comparable to allowing satan into your house.

 

<But you're not a ROM h4x0rr. But it's not rooted. But they have [insert spooptool here]. But it doesn't matter because some other strawman. Nothing to see here. Other gaslighting.

 

None of that matters, because this becomes a legal problem. IF it is proven that Google's ROM software (marketed for it's security features, for Android 9.x) were to not honor user permissions settings, that could open up the parent company to millions, if not billions of dollars in damages in a class action lawsuit, and manufacturers would need to take a harder look at other, actual secure platforms or risk losing business and money.

 

<But the voice search is gone! My apps broke! WTF anon?! The phone sucks now!

 

Blame Google for installing their search app and store services as the default provider. There are some options available, and instructions on how to change the default provider apps also exist on the internet. So there's options out there if you truly need that feature and do not want Google scraping your data. Any app that you use that uses Google Play services also has the potential to transmit your data to Google, even if the Google app itself is turned off, because the store apps each have their own permissions sets, too.

 

Anyway

 

The example is for Google services, but it will also work with other pre-loaded bloatware, like facebook.app and twitter.app. Apple and Microsoft are no better. Same idea applies to those: Deny permissions first, and then disable the apps and reboot.

 

PS- If you're thinking of buying a new Android phone, DO NOT SET UP THE HANDSET WITH A GOOGLE ACCOUNT ON FIRST RUN. Doing this grants Google full access to everything on the phone by default, because it brands that user ID into the phone, until it is wiped and factory reset.

 

If you did make this mistake, fully wipe and reset the phone, and set it up without any account on first run, and set up email after. This prevents branding the phone to a user ID, and also forces the handset to ask for permission to data that would normally default to a new Google user (ie- a gmail account.)
