Qresearch is a 24/7 beehive of activity where anons post their diggs, memes and prayers.

For this to happen requires ''bakers''โ€“which is why they have been called "the core of this board."

Bakers perform several key functions:

* Set the tone for each bread via their choice of bread title and /comms/ with posters.

* Bake breads (transition the board from one thread to the next).

* Knead the dough (keeping the resource pages clean, tidy, and up-to-date).

About the class, baking, where we are now. Cox seems like it's getting REAL BUSY during the bakes. Wanna talk about some ways we can deal with that, espec when it comes to dealing with notables.

Why a LIVE Baking Seminar?

Newer baker asked a q in /bakers meta/ earlier:

Do I have to take a seminar or is my baking good enough without spending the time?

 

Good question.

 

Obviously, nobody has to come to this class in order to learn how to bake.

There have always been instructions on how to bake on the main board (bottom on last dough page).

And there's moar stuff here in our class dough - along with special topics, tips, etc.

 

But baking isn't a solitary activity. Because we try to make sure the board is covered 24/7, we interact a lot. So good comms matter - and there are some things about baking that are hard to learn just on your own. Like how to do handoffs, helpful to practice with others.

 

Also, it's helpful to give a few practice bakes CHECKED by more experienced bakers before going live. Otherwise, when you make mistakes - which you will - it will be qresearch oldfags who give "feedback." And shills. Better to get it here than there!!

LIVE Baking Seminar: a Little History

from frb, others can share their perspective (especially Teach!)

 

The baking seminar exists bc, as of early 2020 - most if not all of the regular baking crew hadn't grown for a long time but seasoned baker rgb (who did a lot of heavy lifting) had recently left. Bakers would sometimes talk about this but nobody knew what to do other than ask anons to bake and provide instructions and practice baking opps.

 

Bakers had been asking for anons to bake since previous Spring, but it wasn't happening. So nb had this idea nobody had every thought of - a LIVE baking class. frebe offered to help, and class was started in the second week of Feb 2020.

 

From my pov, class has been pretty successful. Enough so we started attracting shills pretty quick.

 

One surprising thing: Although the class did attract new bakers, it also became a magnet for oldfag bakers who no longer baked or baked infrequently. And a gathering place for all bakers to share their experiences with one another and with newer bakerers. At this point, the class consists of bakers of many levels of experience, completely new bakers (but not every week), and mystery lurqers who hang out to (presumably) get a sense of what baking and bakers are all about.

 

Another interesting development: Although the discussion starts in class, since each class is an open thread, discussions are ongoing. So there's always a place that new bakers can come to ask q's, get mini baking 'tutorials' on the fly or get practice bakes checked.

 

So the thread itself has become a resource and place for bakers to exchange ideas. Mostly about baking but also about the dough and the kitchen itself.

Current kitchen challenges

* attacks on the kitchen (which wax and wane but never completely go away)

* not enough bakers (perennial problem for a 24/7 op)

* not enough info on how to bake (baking class has dramatically increased opps to learn more imo)

* comms & board coverage (much helped imo by both baking class discussions and 2 threads - seminar and baker meta)

* dealing with notables as news cycle gets really busy

 

Attacks - We will always have attacks. Now have some pretty good strategies for dealing with them (bins, discussions, etc).

Not enough bakers - class has helped with that (many new and returning bakers)

Not enough info - class and baking dough has made that easier

Comms & board coverage - having more bakers and baker id'd bins makes it easier to ensure coverage.

Dealing with notes as news cycle gets busier - this is what i'd like to talk more about and gather ideas on today.

 

Wanna focus more on notables bc they're getting harder and harder to deal with right now due to the election and speeding up of both DS and white hat activity. I literally couldn't keep up the number coming in during a bake yesterday, even tho i was setup and ready.

 

Got two ideas:

  1. Posting something in the dough (a short section?) to remind anons how to make notables easier to find, understand and grab.

  2. Encouraging more baker/note-taker combos by making note-taking more of a "real" job (not just a stepping stone to baking)

The thing is that if a story is big, many outlets pick it up. So if a baker checks qresear.ch, he'll often find zero entries on a story he knows he's seen before.

 

But i don't worry too much about that, each version is different, mebbe get a dif angle. Although often, they all grab the same AP stuff.

First, let's look at why notables are a challenge.

 

Why notables are tough

* information comes in fast & in varying formats (super chaotic newsroom espec when Q posts or during rallies)

* time constraints (fastest breads are 18 - 30 mins and bakers also have other bread duties - setup, repairs, Q posts, etc.)

* per post decisions must be quick (mebbe 10-15 secs)

* anons not understanding what it takes to produce notes (how much time it takes to "vet" info, see if it's been notabled, retrieve titles/devise descriptions, get sauce, get better sauce, etc. (meanwhile, shills be like: "all you do is copy pasta")

* shills always using notables as a wedge to cause trouble ("bakers comp'd, ck notables")

 

New challenge:

much more 'incoming' than in the past''' (adds new meaning to "fast & furious")

 

The combo of

high cognitive load,

some anons not understanding,

and shills taking advantage is not a small problem.

 

How can bakers fulfill so many demands at the same time???

SHORT ANSWER: They can't.

Proposal

Generate a global OR a dough section that does this as simply as possible:

 

  1. explain constraints to the board - plainly state what bakers can and can't do, espec in busy breads

 

  1. give anons a simple list of "five ways to help bakers" (we've done before but anons tend to ignore - this time, MAKE IT SIMPLE)

 

  1. explain briefly why it's important that we all upp our game (coz "we are the news") - and bakers can't do it all

 

  1. promote the idea of note collector as a real and permanent job (not just a stepping stone to baking)

Five Ways to Make Better Notables

Can be a global but BETTER if we list these RIGHT IN THE DOUGH (imo).

Below is muh list but looking for feedback, other ideas.

 

Want your post to be notabled? Here's how:

  1. Use bold orred textto summarize the main point at top

  2. For articles/twats: list article title not just the link (and not in ALL CAPS)

  3. For anon charts & analyses: Provide a short description of your MAIN POINT

  4. For vids: provide enough info that baker (date, title/descriptive, half a dozen main points)

  5. For notable noms: package the notable using a short description/title

Why it matters:

  1. Red text and bold alert baker to your post.

  2. With only the link, baker has to convert link to text - many extra steps.

  3. No main point stated coz it's "obvious"? Never obvious. If poster or nommer can state it, how it baker supposed to?

  4. Baker has ZERO time to watch vids much less evaluate them.

  5. "Packaged" notables can be picked up on the fly and added quickly, even late in the bread

 

Generally:

Bakers are super busy, even in slow breads. Many behind-the-scenes tasks to do besides notables. A poster has one post to deal with; bakers have 750. If "we are the news," the "WE" must include the entire board, not just the the baker on duty. The more posters do, the more notables we can include and the better the quality. Second idea:

 

Encouraging baker/note-taker combos

I like to take my own notes. But sometimes, it's too much. Both too fast and too labor intensive (hands sore too quick). I can do it for one but would require a note-taker to continue, either to help or supplement.

Making note-taking / baker assist more of a "legit" job (not just stepping stone to baking) would help.

But don't know how many other bakers are looking for note-takers other than during Q bakees.

What do you think, bakers?

yes, it's all right to ask

but asking takes time, too

espec asking over and over again

 

right now, anons KNOW they have to provide sauce

most do it - and know they'll get called out for not doing it

 

but when it comes to titles or descriptions for graphs - not just "baker, baker" or a link - that's not true. I spend tons of time checking timestamps on arrticles, whether they're in qresear.ch (or in pb notables), getting article titles when anons only provide links.

 

Idea of putting five brief suggestions in the dough means anons see if over and over (not just a link). Bakers can point to the dough section.

 

Main reservation:

Anons may feel like they're being bossed around, bc so many don't understand how hard this stuff is and how long it takes.

 

If they did, they'd probably be more willing to go the extra mile (except: phonefags, sigh - but since each one is just doing one post, seems like even they could do a little more regarding title/descriptions/timestamps)

Summary of note-taking discussion & proposals

 

Not sure that I meant the "dough proposal" as something to definitely implement (either right now or later). Just wanted to make a specific suggestion cause it helps to cut out everything non-essential.

 

And gives us something specific to envision and discuss.

 

Lots of good ideas thrown out here.

 

Main point for me:

An individual anon has the means to provide specific info.

A Baker does NOT due to time constraints and other tasks.

 

Q I'd like to answer:

What's the best way to motivate anons to provide more complete info? To up their game?

 

Is just asking them to do stuff enough?

Or do we have to show them why - and possibly how?

if you are baking sometime, request a note-taker. Can't speak for others, but if i'm available, i would be happy to note.

 

Note-takers usually drop notables either at 300 and 600 - or at 200, 400, 600.

 

Note-taker drops at 600 so baker can put it in his dough, reformat if he wants, and also have time to add a couple more notables.

yes, i posted something on a previous class thread that defined another "bread job" that's like an asst digger or baker supporter. It what i did as a brand new anon here - retrieved sauce, got extra sauce (articles or tweets), checked to see whether sauce was decent, watched vids and gave short descriptions, added titles to anon discussions that lacked them, got Q caps (later). It was doing all the stuff i'd like to see OP's doing. But doesn't matter who does it as long as it gets done.

think we're talking about two slightly dif things.

baker can request a note-taker to help with notes - and you are saying "no tx" to that, right?

but baker can also request a note-taker who is otherwise a baker (or a "pro" note-taker) like GB.

In general, only someone experienced will step up when that kind of request is made (at least, it's true at night).

If you requested a note-taker, you think you'd get a shill volunteer?

don't know the new one but seems ok.

on /qrb/ breads are locked at the end of each month and a new bred is created by baker (not me - there's been a longterm baker since june).

Hello TSB. main board is pretty shilly right now, baker. shit is flying, i been trying to shut some of that down, but there's lots of crossfire at the moment. doc's been getting bombarded, doubt it's personal. also he's bone tired at this time of night, bakes all day. just took this bake to relieve newer baker.

i usually ask for disputes to move to /baker meta/ thread, so we can keep this one open for newbie bakers - had to ask for discussions to move off the class thread week before last because we were approached 751 way too early. Same thing will happen here is this back-and-forth continues - so would appreciate moving to comms meta.
