Qresearch is a 24/7 beehive of activity where anons post their diggs, memes and prayers.

For this to happen requires ''bakers''–which is why they have been called "the core of this board."

Bakers perform several key functions:

* Set the tone for each bread via their choice of bread title and /comms/ with posters.

* Post notables for each bread.

* Bake breads (transition the board from one thread to the next).

* Knead the dough (keeping the resource pages clean, tidy, and up-to-date).

Bakers, notetakers and anons, thank you also for coming. Your experience and input makes the class and really helps those up and coming.

 

The class is informal and relaxed. Feel free to ask questions, shout out if or when you're stuck / need some help and remember, there are no dumb questions, ever.

There's usually plenty of flour flying around so feel free to mess up. It's how we learn.

 

One of our bakers usually instructs (m'self today), while Freebaker facilitates the Q&A and discussions. Regular bakers are also usually in-thread (dropping in when they can), helping with the Q&As.

 

We are all here dedicating our time to teach you and pass on our knowledge to you, new bakers. We want to help you in whichever way we can. Please give us feedback and let us know how we can.

Strange Situations In Baking

As a new baker you may be worried about unusual situations coming up while you're baking.

We thought to ask you about any unsual situations you may think about and worry may happen.

 

Maybe you've seen something happen and think about how you'd handle it?

It's highly possible that the bakers (old and new) have come across it and if so, would be happy to give advice and/or talk it over.

 

And so we ask -

New bakers - which unusual situations have you see, you percieve, or worry could happen when baking?

BAKING TIPS

HANDOFF COMMS - THE 4 STEP SEQUENCE

Based on military call and response

 

There are 4 steps to a handoff.

Unless all 4 steps are made there is a very high chance of confusion.

To prevent mix ups, it's highly advised not to handoff or start baking until the 4 steps are complete.

 

The first and second steps are REQUEST and OFFER comms: A request from the current baker and an offer from the new baker.

The second and third steps cover CONFIRMATIONS: One from the current baker and one from the new baker.

 

Let's take a look at the steps.

Maybe the other bakers can weigh in on how they handle this.

Here's how I do.

Go to the bread and use ctrl F and search for the part post number you have. Try to find the post that way.

If you can't, use some keywords from the notable discription.

Between the two of these you can usually find them super fast.

Failing that, and /or if you've no time, make a big headline post in the current thread and ask if someone can go back and find them.

If they can't find them, I would just leave as is, if they're someone elses notes.

SEQUENCE STEP 2

New baker offers to bake clearly in reply with -

If the current baker doesn't know who you are, you may want to post a verification paste for them, so they know.

A verification paste is a paste from your pastebin or anonbin - the one which has your previous bakes in it.

It can be blank or have some text, as you wish, but the main point is that it was created by you by logging into your paste or anonbin.

 

New Bakers

If you don't have a baking history, tell the baker and if possible he'll stay with you while you bake the first time/s.

If you're just starting to bake, if the bakers know (in the stream, comms Meta Kitchen or the baking class), they'll offer to help you get your first bakes logged, maybe at a more convenient time.

Don't bake until you have clear handoff confirmation or it's an emergency.

 

Basically this is a redundancy syetem to make sure the current baker =and== the relief baker both confirm the handoff.

This way there is zero chance for confusion.

The language is less important than the idea that it's CLEAR, there is a call, a response then confirmation from both parties.

Watching Bakers Handoff

If you watch the bakers handoff to each other you'll see them use this sequence.

It may be as above and it may be a lot more casual (common between bakers who handoff to the same baker each day).

Handoff History

A few years ago when baking instructions were being made, they were posted in the general over a couple of weeks for everyone to be involved in their contents.

A military fag told us that basically bakers were following military comms procedures of call and response to avoid confusion, and ensure confirmation from both parties.

The instructions created then refered to the sequence as 'Call and Response', as in military comms.

This is where it evolved from.

When You Can't Find A Relief Baker

If you're having trouble finding a new baker, try a shout -

In the event you have to leave and don't have a relief baker, leave a clear post saying you're leaving, that there's no baker on duty and request that someone bakes the next thread.

Then you can post your leaving post at 100 knowing you did your best to find a relief.

- Whenever picking up a ghost bread

always tag the doh post

not just the GHOST BAKE post.

this is the only way for incoming bakers to know someone is baking

 

- ask if there are notables or if there are none, tag notables post

 

- when adding notes, tag to doh post

lets bakers and anons know baker is still there (and still AWAKE)'''

 

- look for DOUGH UPDATES

they often get lost in the shuffle in ghost bakes (also if note-taking, keep posting latest dough) in case you have to leave

Bolded the importance of the doh post because it is a CRITICAL thing for picking up ghost bakes

 

Two nights ago, after ghost bake declared

someone started by taking notes

toward the end, they decided to bake

but didn't announce until very late

 

meanwhile, i came along, checked the doh post; saw baker had ghosted, saw a note-taker was taking notes and asked if there was a baker on duty, tagging doh and last set of notables.

 

no reply. asked again - no reply.

 

so started addin to notes, posted one set.

then someone posted another set of notes around 600+.

along with a notice he was baking.

 

I saw it, and stood down.

but only at the last minute

meanwhile, was rushing around trying to set up and format notes.

this happens often. but easily preventable if doh tagging is used and baker realizes another baker may come along and needs to know what's up.

Yeah. I've seen some anons filter the baker by mistake because there was something in the dough that triggered the filter script they'd set.

The board could be under attack or something major habbening and you possibly wouldn't know.

Had a happy thing happen today. When I went to bed last UK bread was at 702, not a prob for a slow moving bread, usually baking around 725 will do the trick. I come up earlier today, sucker is 751'd and another anon came in and had baked. Got the one I intended to bake in there because may get some nice posts from VidAnon but about seven minutes earlier there was a bread. Bakers seem to suddenly appear when needed, I have a warm fuzzy feelin. The one I baked has more up to date but might end up just getting bumped off the catalog for low posts.

It sounds moar confusing than it is. You just have 4 steps to ensure that there is no confusion as to who is baking. This is simple between two bakers, might be a little moar confusing if moar than 1 baker is responding to handoff request. Either way, 4 step handoff, ensures the baker has made it clear who they are handing off to and incoming baker makes it clear that they have received the handoff and are now the official baker on duty.

 

First Just go to your pastebin or qbin, write something like I can bake a few loaves for ya baker. or I'm good for 1 bred baker. Save that pastebin or qbin. You can make the title for that bin as VERIFICATION. Grab the link to that message pastebin/qbin.

 

1) Step 1Go to the dough post requesting a handoff. Tag the dough post and any post where baker is requesting a handoff or announcing a ghost protocol is in effect. Announce you can bake and add the pastebin or qbin verification link to your message. Add something like Baker, I can bake, handoff confirmed? In case of ghost bake, simply announce baker picking up ghost or Self-confirming or baker has the dough, ghost protocol cancelled along with your verification link to qbin/pastebin. You might ask if any note-takers have notes for you as well here.

2) Step 2 Baker will ck your pastebin or qbin link to verify you are a baker, and reply with Handoff confirmed. In case of ghost bake, nobody there so you have already self-confirmed.

3) Step 3 You then acknowledge the handoff with something like Handoff acknowledged, thank you baker. Again, ghost bake will not have this step.

4) Step 4 Baker replies Acknowledged, thanks have a good bake. Or something similar. To which you may also reply, Acknowledged or something like o7 TY baker, have a great day This simply ensures that the baker on duty has heard your acknowledgment and that you have heard their confirmation and are now officially the baker on duty. Baker on duty can now be confident they are officially relieved of duty.

 

When I bake, I always have multiple tabs up, one tab is for comms, like if I'm waiting on a response to a handoff request or offer, a request for note-taker notes, or when I post notables. I leave that window on that message until I'm sure I'm done with the convo or I'm done waiting on responses, like to my notables post. The other tab, I'm steady scrolling, collecting notes. Then if I post notables again or have any comms, I switch to the other page, to keep scrolling, collecting notes, while waiting on responses. I do this back and forth throughout the bake. That way I can easily switch over to see if any comms going on regarding comments or notables posts. Also, I always tag the dough with comms or notables posts. I can easily ck the dough post, if for some reason I lose the convo in the heat of the moment and also other bakers can easily find out what's going on, w/out having to waste precious minutes trying to figure out what's up, simply by cking the dough post. Also, bakers must have thick skin. You will be attacked, insulted, challenged, and etc., on the other hand, you may be flattered, complimented, and downright hero worshipped. Either way, I find humor wks best in these situations, occasionally I swat them down tho if they are insulting or rude. kek I find it wks well if you have a few memes/responses that deal with either situation. I started hanging around these classes due to an invite in May. Of this year. 2020. Mostly to see what it was all about because going off the /qr/ stream raised suspicions.

 

I chose to hang to hang out here for the same reason as all the other boards: to keep informed as to what externals were interested in /qr.

If I am honest, I was there and 'saw' it all in live time. Just a last night when it was reported notables got changed. I have no way to prove it, I dont know of a way to stop it. Hell short of last night, I likely couldnt find it. But it was happening.

yes, having a separate board is a practical way to avoid the falling-off-the-board problem with /qr/. In some ways, it would be ideal to have only ONE kind of thread on /qresearch/ board: Q Research General. And maybe other really busy and fast-moving threads. Because only those can "compete" with General threads.

 

All other threads could go on another (slower) board called (e.g.) "QR Special Topics".

 

Not the kind of thing anyone would mandate, just a practical solution to a problem that often happens, in part bc anons not experienced with thread creation don't realize just how carefully they are going to have to monitor /qr/ threads and bump threads to keep them on the catalog. Better to have a low-maintenance thread for most topics, espec thread like planefag thread that basically serve as a resource to teach people a set of basic skills.   • Sudden changes to the dough make anons jumpy and distrustful of bakers

  • Dough changes are best discussed in the general before they're done

  • A few new resources going in the dough without discussion in the general can lead to bakers and anons getting paranoid

I replied in /qr/ but will reply here also.

On /qr/, BO/BV's decide what stays. If they like it, fine. Otherwise, they will remove. I will not put a thread there because they removed an Information Warfare thread I created in winter of 2019 that was valuable enough to have been archived several times, and not by me. But i learned how to archive just before removal, so the whole thread still exists here: https://archive.fo/E0oJm

Begged them not to, they taunted me saying it was garbage but they might let it stay just let it stay (it was bumplocked first). Then one day just - gone. Same crew went on to do per post captchas, anti-baker campaign and finally, complete takeoever of the kitchen and the dough.

Same BO is still in place. So maybe that will explain why asking for permission from that crew turns my stomach. Try /qrb/ or /comms/ instead - they are slower so threads stay on the catalog basically forever. On /comms/, i've never seen Rusty remove a thread like @fj removed mine.

What I think is absolute shit is that OSS comes in like he owns the place, I get he has some fantasy of what it was and where we are, but changes are needed in a certain way. The breaking down in child-like banter and calling names and such really lost your case with us. No-one needs to be called names here. Also.. the taking over of a bake was seriously out of line, and the baker at the time had no business baking to begin with either.

 

Holding bread and not giving it up and baking 24hrs was absolute fuckery at its worst. Why would you do that? MANY good bakers contacted you for handoff (myself included) and you shrugged it off. Peanut gallery was egging you on, and toward the end I even poked at you saying you had a couple more in you.. it was just dumb. No need for it.

 

As far as anons/autists not being apart of 8kun.. dunno. I tried to be apart of Twatter and other places and been so censored I personally have given up for the most part and remain here, have been here, and will remain here. If others were able to get around the censorship then that is another thing and kudos to them.

 

Our place is here. I don't and won't feel sorry for you. You have chose to be a decisive person, I don't usually comment or when I do I say my piece and gone because it is a waste of time to argue over the internet with someone.
