Border Dispatch, Part I: ‘Everyone Who Arrives Here Has Paid’

REYNOSA, Mexico — We met Osniel at Senda de Vida, a massive migrant shelter situated on the south bank of the Rio Grande across from McAllen, Texas. The slender 23-year-old Cuban didn’t give us his last name, but did tell us he’d paid a coyote, or smuggler, $11,000 to leave his home country, transit through Central America and Mexico, and cross the border into the United States — twice.

 

Both times he crossed, though, he’d been arrested by Border Patrol and quickly sent back to Mexico under Title 42, the pandemic health order that allows U.S. authorities to expel illegal immigrants quickly, with minimal processing. When Osniel left Cuba in early April, Title 42 didn’t apply to Cubans. But that changed while he was en route.

 

On April 27, the Biden administration cut a deal with Mexico to begin expelling up to 100 Cubans and 20 Nicaraguans a day from three border facilities. For Osniel, it was just bad timing — he crossed the river on April 29.

 

“Title 42 was active under Donald Trump, and all this time, all this time Cubans were crossing over the river and entering with a humanitarian visa,” Osniel told me and a pair of colleagues, Emily Jashinsky and David Agren, who accompanied me recently to migrant shelters in Reynosa and Matamoros. “Now, Cubans keep trying to cross the river and they keep getting sent back.”

 

He said he wasn’t sure what he was going to do now. Having tried to cross the border twice, he couldn’t try again without paying the local cartel, and he had no more money. (Nearly everyone who crosses the Rio Grande in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, where Reynosa is situated, has to pay a tax to the cartels, which have been profiting handsomely from the arrangement.)

 

Early the next morning, around 2 a.m., Osniel called David in a panic. He had swam across the river, he said, but hadn’t paid, and now feared he was being pursued by cartel gunmen. He said he was hiding on the north bank of the Rio Grande.

 

A GPS pin on WhatsApp showed he was just outside the town of Hidalgo, Texas, not far from the international bridge. He wanted David to call the police or Border Patrol to come pick him up before the cartel found him. David got ahold of the local police but they said it was Border Patrol’s responsibility, and no one picked up the phone at the McAllen Border Patrol station that night.

 

Osniel’s last communication, via WhatsApp, was at 5:52 a.m. The GPS pin showed he was on the U.S. side of the border, near the riverbank. We haven’t heard from him since.

Human traffickers luring Ukrainian refugees on the web targeted in EU-wide hackathon

 

14 EU Member States joined forces during a joint action day to identify human traffickers searching for Ukrainian victims online

 

On 23 May 2022, an EMPACT coordinated online joint action day targeted criminal networks grooming Ukrainian refugees for sexual and labour exploitation via websites and social media platforms. Law enforcement authorities from 14 EU Member States took part in this hackathon*, coordinated by the Netherlands. The investigators monitored different online platforms to detect criminal networks attempting to recruit vulnerable Ukrainian refugees.

 

The online investigations focused on the monitoring of posts offering help to refugees for transportation, accommodation and work. Dating sites and recruitment websites were monitored, as well as platforms offering sexual services. The countries bordering Ukraine focused on recruitment, transportation and accommodation of refugees, while others focused on platforms offering housing and jobs to refugees. During the action day, investigators identified suspicious advertisements targeting Ukrainian refugees, looked into tips received from citizens, reviewed indicators of potential trafficking of human beings for sexual and labour exploitation and updated their situational awareness on existing online platforms linked to trafficking activities.

9 possible victims identified;

15 new investigations initiated;

93 officers participated;

351 persons/user names checked.

 

 

The monitoring activities led to the identification of new trends, and gathered insights into the threat of sexual and labour exploitation of Ukrainian refugees. Suspicious activities were detected in a wide range of platforms, including in the Russian language. Different platforms were prioritised depending on the specific social media use per country.

 

Many online marketplaces and websites appear to be taking significant steps to combat the misuse of their platforms for trafficking Ukrainian refugees. However, law enforcement officers found a significant number of suspicious job offers targeting Ukrainian women, some of which described as ‘photo shoots’. Investigators identified attempts to lure victims through offers of a ‘bright future’, which tricked them into sexual exploitation, or accommodation offers specifically targeted at Ukrainian refugees.

Europol supported the coordination of the operational activities, facilitated the exchange of information and provided analytical support. On the action day, Europol activated a virtual command to facilitate the information exchange in real time, while a dedicated analyst cross-checked operational information against Europol’s databases. This provided further investigative leads to the participating officers from involved national law enforcement authorities.

Ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s New Investment Firm Deepens His Ties to the U.S. Military

 

Perhaps most interesting is Schmidt’s connection to AFF CEO Gilman Louie. Louie was one of 15 commissioners on the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI), where Schmidt was chair. From 2018 to 2021, the commission developed policy recommendations on how AI could be used to promote US national security. Their work was influential; the Department of Defense has adopted several of its recommendations. Poulson noted that Schmidt’s work on the AI commission could be summed up as “government-sanctioned lobbying.”

 

Louie’s past experience is likely useful for AFF’s ambitions. He was the first CEO of In-Q-Tel, the CIA venture capital firm that uses agency funding to invest in promising new tech that could be applied to the intelligence sector, whose structure AFF appears to be imitating. In-Q-Tel’s potential conflicts of interest have been well publicized. “More than half its trustees were alleged to have had financial ties to the companies in which the fund invested,” Paul said.

 

Now observers are concerned that AFF’s board of directors could have similar financial ties with companies it invests in, and that this will create rife opportunities for conflicts of interest. Schmidt is a major funder of tech and defense startups, with a special interest in AI. He’s an investor and chair of Sandbox AQ, an AI software development company spun off from Google’s parent company, Alphabet — and In-Q-Tel recently announced it was backing Sandbox AQ, saying it hopes to eventually sell the software to US intelligence agencies.

“Because of Weinergate and the sexting scandal, the NYPD started investigating it. Through a subpoena, through a warrant, they searched his laptop, and sure enough,found those 650,000 emails. They found way more stuff than just more information pertaining to the inappropriate sexting the guy was doing,” Prince claimed.

 

“They found State Department emails. They found a lot of other really damning criminal information, including money laundering, including the fact that Hillary went to this sex island with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton went there more than 20 times. Hillary Clinton went there at least six times,” he said.

 

“The amount of garbage that they found in these emails, of criminal activity by Hillary, by her immediate circle, and even by other Democratic members of Congress was so disgusting they gave it to the FBI, and they said, ‘We’re going to go public with this if you don’t reopen the investigation and you don’t do the right thing with timely indictments,’” Prince explained.

Belarus warns of a “serious confrontation” between the army and Kiev leadership

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reasons to fear his own military, his counterpart in Belarus said on Friday. Alexander Lukashenko also repeated his earlier assertion that Poland was looking to seize parts of Ukraine, saying the Ukrainian military would “decapitate” anyone to prevent this.

 

“Already in Ukraine, according to my information, a serious confrontation and conflict is starting between Zelensky and the Ukrainian military,” Lukashenko told reporters in Minsk on Friday. He added that the Ukrainian military understands what’s involved in fighting Russia and knows they won’t be able to continue doing so much longer.

 

Noting that Russia has “changed tactics,”Lukashenko pointed out that Ukraine is running out of troops, having to rely on territorial defense militias to plug gaps in the line. Meanwhile, he added, Zelensky was making deals with Poland – which in his opinion seeks to “chop off” parts of western Ukraine that were once under its rule. Ukrainian nationalists, as well as the military, are displeased by this, according to the Belarusian president.

 

“They saw that he granted [special] status to the Poles,” which is a step toward losing the western regions, said Lukashenko, adding he was convinced the Ukrainian military and the nationalists are willing to “take the head off anyone” who would dismember the country, including Zelensky.

 

“We don’t need that. I warned about this long ago. Look, it’s happening. Just as I said, in time they will be asking us and the Russians to preserve Ukraine,” Lukashenko told reporters.

 

The Belarusian leader warned last monthabout alleged Polish aspirations to Ukrainian territories, echoing claims made in April by Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin, citing declassified intelligence. Warsaw has vehemently denied such plans.

 

Between 1919 and 1939, Poland included parts of present-day Belarus and Ukraine. Cities such as Lwow and Stanislawow – known as Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk in present-day Ukraine – ended up in the USSR after WWII, as Poland’s borders were shifted westward to the Oder-Neisse line.

New figures published by the UK’s Office for National Statistics reveal the Covid-19 vaccinated population are much more likely to die of any cause than the unvaccinated population in England among all age groups.

But it turns out that once you dig a little deeper into data, you find that Covid-19 vaccination actually increases the mortality rate of everyone within approximately 5 months.

This week, leaked documents that were uncovered by The Washington Examiner revealed that federal prosecutors are quietly and quickly dismissing tens of thousands of US immigration court cases against illegal aliens under the direction of the administration’s order to not prosecute illegal border crossings from before the 2020 election.

 

There are currently over 2 million backlogged immigration cases (a whopping 4x the number in 2016), most of which are presumably eligible for dismissal under the policy. Any case that gets thrown out will effectively shield the illegal immigrant from future federal deportation efforts. Only those who crossed the border before November 1st, 2020 will be held responsible for circumventing US immigration law – all other cases will likely be dropped completely.

 

“This is de-facto amnesty,” according to one Immigration and Customs Enforcement official who spoke with The Washington Examiner.

“The Washington Examiner obtained leaked video recordings of virtual meetings that Kerry Doyle, ICE’s principal legal adviser, held with the more than 1,200 ICE prosecutors who bring cases against illegal immigrants nationwide, in which she explained in detail who should not be targeted for deportation. Illegal immigrants identified as national security and public safety threats, or those who had crossed the border illegally after Nov. 1, 2020, would be the only cases ICE would pursue. All others would be dropped.

 

As the memo explains — I think pretty clearly — we’ve put our thumb sort of heavily in favor of dismissal and durable solutions,” Doyle told her workforce in a private town hall meeting on April 14. “Even if you’ve spent a lot of time on the case, if it’s a nonpriority, you should be moving to offer [prosecutorial discretion] in that case…”

KDDI mobile customers across Japan hit by prolonged network troubles

KDDI Corp, one of Japan's top three carriers, said Saturday its mobile customers have been facing difficulties making calls and getting online for over half a day, with the disruption of its nationwide networks also impacting services from banking and transmission of weather data to parcel deliveries.

 

The au mobile brand operator said work to restore the networks continues after the disruption began at around 1:35 a.m., but no time frame for a resumption of services has been provided.

 

The trouble, which the company said is due to a failure with its voice call system, has also affected its low-cost UQ Mobile brand and its lower-priced "povo" wireless customers, as well as other firms using KDDI's networks.

 

KDDI apologized and said it is still investigating the number of users who complained about being inconvenienced. As of March, its infrastructure has around 62 million mobile subscriptions, with individual contracts for the au, UQ Mobile and povo brands accounting for about 31 million users.

 

The communications ministry has yet to classify the disruption as a "serious incident." Biden Opens U.S. Borders to 44,000 Ukrainians – Exceeding Population of Burlington, Vermont

 

President Joe Biden has opened the United States’ borders to about 44,000 Ukrainians in over two months — a foreign population exceeding Burlington, Vermont’s resident population.

 

Since late March, Biden has welcomed about 22,000 Ukrainians at the U.S.-Mexico border, the latest Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data reveals. As Breitbart News exclusively reported, the administration has been releasing hundreds of Ukrainians into American communities via the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego, California.

 

As part of that process, Ukrainians fly to Tijuana, Mexico, and then line up every day at the Port of Entry, where they are briefly detained and released into the U.S. interior. One source told Breitbart News that the process works like a “DMV for Ukrainians.”

 

Another 22,000 Ukrainians, the DHS data shows, have been authorized by the Biden administration to enter the U.S. through the agency’s new “Uniting for Ukraine” migration pipeline program. The program allows Ukrainians to secure parole, valid for two years, to enter the U.S. while still overseas.

 

Roughly 4,200 Ukrainians of those 22,000 have already entered the U.S. while thousands continue arriving. The DHS data reveals that over 40,000 applications have been filed to bring Ukrainians to the U.S.

 

Last month, House and Senate Republicans voted to give $40 billion in additional American taxpayer funding to Ukraine. By supporting the aid package, Republicans rubber-stamped $900 million to fund Biden’s migration pipeline from Ukraine.

 

Only 57 House Republicans and 11 Senate Republicans voted against the aid.

This moon is doomed. Mars, the red planet named for the Roman god of war, has two tiny moons, Phobos and Deimos, whose names are derived from the Greek for Fear and Panic. These martian moons may well be captured asteroids originating in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter or perhaps from even more distant reaches of our Solar System. The larger moon, Phobos, is indeed seen to be a cratered, asteroid-like object in this stunning color image from the robotic Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, with objects as small as 10 meters visible. But Phobos orbits so close to Mars - about 5,800 kilometers above the surface compared to 400,000 kilometers for our Moon - that gravitational tidal forces are dragging it down. In perhaps 50 million years, Phobos is expected to disintegrate into a ring of debris.

Man dies in officer-involved shooting outside Walnut Park Elementary School

 

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken over an investigation into the fatal police shooting Thursday morning of a man outside Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden.

 

Etowah County Coroner London Pearce identified the deceased as Robert Tyler White, 32. He said the man lived in the Gadsden area; however, a news release Thursday afternoon from ALEA listed him as being from Bunnlevel, North Carolina.

 

Officials say the man tried to get into the school through several doors, but all were locked. His motives for trying to get into the school were not known, and school and law enforcement officials alike were praising the reaction to the incident: The would-be intruder never made it into the school, and the only substantial harm was suffered by him.

 

Here's what happened, according to law enforcement and school officials.

 

Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton said his office responded to a call that came at about 9:30 a.m. He said someone passing the school reported seeing someone trying to enter cars or the school, and thought it just didn't look right. A non-emergency call was made to Attalla police, Horton said, and relayed.

 

Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick said the man tried to get into the school through several doors. "We were blessed," he said.

 

Teachers in the system have been drilled on keeping school doors locked, and students have been drilled about never opening a door to anyone, even if they look like they belong at the school.

 

A Rainbow City police officer was at the school as a school resource officer, Horton said. He came out and confronted the suspect, and they scuffled. At some point the officer called for backup.

 

Horton said he got to the scene about 5 minutes after the call, and multiple agencies were already there.

 

The suspect was fatally shot during the incident.

 

The Rainbow City officer suffered minor injuries, according to Horton.

 

From information provided so far, the suspect did not have a weapon. However, Etowah County District Attorney Jody Willoughby said the man apparently tried to get the officer's gun during their altercation.

 

ALEA confirmed that in a statement Thursday afternoon: "An individual was attempting to make forcible entry into a marked Rainbow City patrol vehicle at which point a School Resource Officer with the Rainbow City Police Department attempted to stop the subject," according to ALEA. "The subject resisted and attempted to take the officer’s firearm.

Edward Feng was arrested in 2011 at the age of 81 for introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce, following an FDA sting focused on his sale of traditional Chinese healing tablets for common colds. The main witness in the case claimed that Edward Feng’s tablets caused her an earache and hand-swelling (which Edward Feng denied was caused by the tablets) and claimed that her son, a cancer patient, suffered foot pain from Edward Feng’s foot acupuncture treatment. Karena Feng said that she witnessed Paul Pelosi Jr. speaking to the witness in the case shortly before the arrest.

 

“She never stepped into our clinic. She was just outside. Right before my dad got arrested, I saw her speaking outside of the clinic with Paul for hours” while her son got treated, Karena Feng said of the witness in the case.

 

Although the charges against Edward Feng were dismissed without an indictment, the publicized arrest took a toll on him emotionally and his health declined.

 

“After my dad suddenly died, Paul showed up in the San Francisco General Hospital every day, while I overheard one female doctor in the ICU telling the staff to not wake my dad up and let him die. She specifically said, ‘don’t wake him up,’” Karena Feng stated.

they discussed the same Russian Bank-1 allegations that the defendant would later bring to the FBI.

The evidence will show that at the meeting, the parties agreed to conduct work in the hope that it

would benefit the Clinton Campaign, namely, gathering and disseminating purportedly derogatory

data regarding Trump and his associates’ internet activities. In particular, the Government expects

the evidence will show that as a result of these conversations and during this same time period,

Tech Executive-1 did exactly that: he tasked employees from multiple Internet companies and a

university working under a pending national security contract to mine and gather vast amounts of

internet metadata in order to support an “inference” and “narrative” tying the candidate to Russia.

And calendar entries reflect that as he obtained the results of these taskings, Tech Executive-1

conducted further communications, meetings, and calls with Law Firm-1, including: an August 17,

2016 call with the defendant and Campaign Lawyer-1; an August 19, 2016 meeting with the

defendant and Campaign Lawyer-1; and a September 8, 2016 call and meeting with the defendant—

all of which the defendant billed to the Clinton Campaign.

Starbuck Wins Lawsuit: Is Restored To Ballot For August Primary

 

Tennessee Congressional candidate Robby Starbuck was restored to the August primary ballot in a stunning judgment from Davidson County Chancery Court Judge Russell Perkins. Judge Perkins granted Starbuck’s request for a temporary injunction based on the threshold question of the Tennessee Open Meetings Act or TOMA. Perkins ordered Starbuck be fully restored on the primary ballot.

 

Starbuck appeared before Judge Perkins on June 2, hoping to be reinstated on the August 4 primary ballot. Starbuck filed for a temporary injunction against the Republican Party (TRP) in Newsom vs. TN Republican Party et al., on May 20 arguing that the TRP violated TOMA and, therefore, their vote was null and void because they didn’t hold a public meeting transparent to the electorate. Starbuck was represented by Eric Osborne, Chris Sabis, and Alex Carver with the Sherrard, Roe, Voigt, and Harbison law firm. The judge’s decision can be found here.

Also, the smell of rotting flesh was explained as the result of a refrigerator breaking. The list goes one. The director consulted with his fans who are gay because he didn't want the dark humor of the parody to be insulting. One such fan actually dated a man who was recently arrested - he is a real serial killer. The fan explained that there is prejudice against gays in law enforcement, which results in crimes not being properly investigated. Whether or not this is true, it provides perfect motivation for the fictional characters in the movie to be bungling fools. It's sad that the real-life foolish behavior might have a basis in hatred. As ridiculous as this story is, it does have some sobering messages.

The 2004 movie "The Day After Tomorrow" is a hokey, overwrought, ascientific film that was supposed to scare us all into caring about "climate change" but which understandably failed to do so. For all its faults, however, the movie does have an admirable sort of heart about it, particularly a scene in which Ian Holm's oceanographer calmly tells Dennis Quaid that the only thing he can do in the face of looming ecological catastrophe is to "save as many as you can."

 

There is a noble quality to that sort of tactical resignation, when the people in charge of a deteriorating situation recognize that the time for a comprehensive resolution has passed, and the only remaining prerogative is simply to save as many lives as possible. There's nothing wrong with admitting that, not when it's true.

 

That is, of course, where we are at in the LGBT wars. There have been a great many strong efforts from the Right to roll back this ideological movement over the past few years, but we must admit that we have largely failed, particularly as it applies to transgenderism. Transgenderism is a fully established part of the culture now, receiving unequivocal support from most major corporations, civic institutions, media outlets, and nearly every level of government, including the federal government.

Most ominously, it has come for the children, and it has captured them so effectively that even Fox News is on board with children "transitioning" from one sex to another. When the nation's (nominally) preeminent conservative media outlet is in favor of what effectively amounts to left-wing sexualized child abuse, we have blown well past the point of no return.

This will end eventually. One day, probably not very far in the future, the movers of this zeitgeist will become too ashamed to continue pushing it, and we'll have something of a reckoning about this whole disgraceful charade. By that time, the ruined lives will be too numerous to count—the countless boys and girls who cut off their genitals and breasts, who sterilized themselves with synthetic hormones, who mutilated their bodies and ruined their minds in service to a sick joke that was foisted on them by sick adults.

 

We are past the point of stopping this; it will only end on its own. All we can do, then, is save as many as we can, by whatever means we might have at our disposal.

What that will look like for everyone will be different. For some it will mean lobbying to shut down the predatory "drag queen story hours" at local libraries; for others it will mean rallying against the apparently growing trend of subjecting very young children to highly sexual "drag show" performances:

 

Others may have to confront beloved friends and family who are taking their children down dangerous, exploitative paths; this will not be comfortable, though it will be necessary. Still others can work to excise predatory literature and lesson plans from local schools.

None of this will be easy. None of it will be fun. And still it will not be enough—still we will lose so many precious lives to this waste. Yet we cannot chose the times we are given.

 

We must simply work with what's in front of us and do our best in a terrible situation. Save as many as you can.

Simply put, neither Biden nor President Trump have a secret lever at the Resolute Desk that makes the price of oil go drastically up or down.

But that's because the coronavirus pandemic has devastated demand for oil as people everywhere fly and drive less often. Although prices recovered a bit over the summer, things got so bad in April that the price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude briefly went negative for the first time ever.

 

Biden wants a “transition” away from oil. But that will have a mixed effect on the petroleum prices.

 

The former vice president is planning to reorient the government toward cutting greenhouse gas emissions and moving toward cleaner sources of energy.

 

One way he will do that is through tighter rules on leaks of methane from wells and restrictions on drilling on federal lands. Those new regulations may squeeze oil supply and lift gas prices. “Perhaps in a couple of years, depending on Biden's policy, there could be more an impact than there will be when he takes office,” said Patrick DeHaan, an oil analyst at GasBuddy.com.

 

But other potential moves by Biden — such as cranking up requirements on automakers to make more fuel-efficient vehicles or boosting incentives to buy electric cars — probably will reduce demand for gasoline and put downward pressure on prices.

 

Jim Burkhard, head of crude oil research at IHS Markit, said fuel-economy standards are “a very powerful force” in reducing demand. “It doesn't have an impact overnight or in a year, but it has a cumulative impact over time.”

 

The Biden administration's stance toward Iran could result in incrementally lower gas prices.

 

The former vice president has said he wants to ease tensions with the U.S. nemesis by potentially returning to a nuclear weapons deal brokered under his old boss, President Barack Obama.

 

Lifting economic sanctions against the country could have the side effect of uncorking more Middle Eastern crude oil into the world market, potentially reducing prices, Molchanov said.

 

“But in the grand scheme of things, the impact on the price that drivers see at the pump would be barely measurable: a few pennies per gallon, in either direction,” he added. “All of this pales in comparison to the impact of the pandemic.”

 

There is one key way Biden can have a pretty big impact on the price at the pump: getting the coronavirus under control.

 

The wide distribution of an effective vaccine would make people feel safe to return to their normal, energy-consuming routines commuting to work and flying cross-country again.

 

“Forget the energy transition issues,” Burkhard said. “Containing covid in 2021, if the Biden administration is able to do that successfully — that would boost oil demand, and therefore that would boost oil prices.”

Many "cures" are not in the form of a drug like some might thing. Doing a 3 to 5 day water fast does wonders for your body. Certain "studies" have concluded that this is BS though according to those studies. Big pharma also just so happened to have FUNDED said studies. Why? Because they want to keep people sick with chronic illnesses, that they can treat the symptoms for. They make BILLIONS doing so, and don't want people to realize the truth, that they can heal themselves.
